Aro POV

My brothers and I rarely left the castle, but we did now. We went to get more vampires to help us in our battle against those repulsive Cullens. I had had a level of respect for Carlisle originally, but all of that vanished last year. How dare he make me look like a coward? Of course, we would fight and easily beat them this time. But there was nothing wrong with gathering others just to intimidate them.

Caius, Marcus, Alec, Jane, Felix, Demetri and I left early in the morning before the sun could come out, wearing our black cloaks. Once out of the city, we ran. Obviously, we didn't know where all of the vampires existed, but we soon got lucky. About ten or so decided to join us after we explained the situation, and we sent them back to Volterra. Of course, not all were as willing to help. After a while, though, they agreed to help. Sure, we had lied to some, offering them positions in the Volturi though they were not worthy of it. But after the battle, they could be easily taken care of, if one of the Cullens or their friends didn't kill them first. One vampire and his mate that we met refused to help, intrigued by the Cullen's lifestyle of drinking animal blood instead of human blood. Enraged, I ordered Jane to use her powers on them both. Even after feeling the pain, he refused. Finally, I had no choice but to order Felix and Demetri to kill him and his mate.

When we arrived back to the castle in the night, Alistair approached me. "Aro, II was wondering if I could leave and return to my home?" he stuttered.

"No!" I roared. "As you are the one accusing the Cullens, you shall stay and see what happens."

"But-"

I cut him off. "One more word out of you, Alistair, and I shall call Jane here and request her to use her power on you. You wouldn't want that, would you now?"

He shook his head and scurried off. I didn't really care about him, but he had given me a reason to destroy the Cullens, and the fool needed to stay and act as witness for the strange human. After that, he could be easily disposed of.

"Master Aro?" asked Alec coming in.

"Yes?"

"I would just like to know when we are leaving Volterra, so we can start the preparations."

I thought about it. "Day after tomorrow, we will reach there," I said. "So we should leave tomorrow evening."

"Yes, Master," he said, and left the room. I smiled. We were going to destroy them. The only three vampires I had no desire to destroy were Alice, Bella, and Edward. If only they would shed their stubbornness and join us! How useful their powers would be...such a waste. Oh, well. Maybe after seeing the rest of their family and friends destroyed, they would change their minds.
