Between the day Mordecai had made the tower in the Tundra Express his home and the present, Lilith had rarely bothered to phase herself in for a visit. Within the past week however, the siren had managed to pop up on four separate occasions, usually uttering a haft assed explanation about how she was just checking in on his and Bloodwing's egg's progress.

Mordecai could understand why Lilith wanted to keep track of him after his withdraw episode. She probably still harbored concerns he might do it again. He could even see Lilith taking a passing interest in his late bird's incubating egg, but this was getting out of hand.

"I promised to keep in contact, so stop coming by unannounced." The hunter finally demanded after Lilith's fifth visit within eight days,"You're a nice sight and all, but even I'm getting sick of looking at you."

That of course, was far from the truth. The siren's sinfully sculpted curves and features were fast becoming an addiction that he struggled to keep under control. While, yes, Mordecai was a bit curious how long he could get away with staring before he lost interest, or an eye, the hunter valued his eyesight more. For his own safety he needed to kick this addiction, which was proving difficult when the drug wouldn't quit showing up at his house every other damn day. If Mordecai didn't know any better, he might have though Lilith was trying to torture him into doing something stupid.

"I though you liked me?" Lilith laughed at the hunter's attempt to move her out the door. "Or did I misinterpret that confession you made the other day?"

This could only be classified as cruel and unusual punishment, the kind of harassment that only a siren would be able to pull off. Considering the way that Lilith kept stretching her arms in a way that arched her body or how she'd idly fiddle with the a tattered piece of her shirt, drawing his eyes to dangerous places, it had to be deliberate.

"Cut the shit Lily. Is there something you actually need? Or did you just come here to screw with me?"

"Both."

A pulsing temple that had been bothering Mordecai since shortly after woman's arrival began to throb even stronger at this. Trusting alcohol would at the very least numb his head, Mordecai reached for the nearest bottle of rakk ale, indulging in a long swig. Hopefully, if he was lucky, the booze would take care of other, less innocent sensations while it worked its way through his system.

"Seriously Lilith. What motivated you to come out here? Besides for your sudden increased fondness for messing with me?"

"It wouldn't be fun if I told you." Lilith shrugged. "Figure it out for yourself."

"I think you've had enough fun for today." Mordecai hissed as he put down his ale bottle, turning away from the vigil he'd been keeping on Blood's egg and toward Lilith. "Time to head back to Sanctuary. Before you phase yourself out of here though, I'm making up a new house rule. No more unannounced visits. Having you around so much is starting to give me a headache."

"When we were hunting for the vault you spent a lot more time around me and that never seemed to give you headaches."

"You're right," Mordecai groaned as his frustration (both physical and mental) grew another notch, "I was too busy covering your ass to get headaches. Do you know how many times my aim has saved your life? A lot. I think as thanks for that, you should just get out."

"I'm not interested in leaving." As if to make her point the siren relaxed her body against exit's open door frame. The way her body curved and her position so close to both Mordecai's bed and retreat was like a dare. Try to kick me out or, if you'd prefer, try to get in my pants.

"What do you fucking want Lilith?"

"I told you." The siren taunted. "I'm not going to tell you. Figure it out for yourself." Mordecai glared (though the look probably didn't do much good considering half his face was shielded by cloth and goggles). He was beginning to feel the temptation to either raise his rifle on her... or put his hands on her.

"I'm not in the mood for this today Lil. If you keep hanging around I might do something stupid just to show you how bad of a day it is to be messing around with me."

"That's fine." Lilith stretched, arching herself in that seductive way Mordecai both hated and loved. "I think I can take care of myself."

Something inside the hunter snapped as he watched Lilith's curves and tight cloths adjust with her movement. He was heading for her before the siren had begun to relax her body again and by some miracle, as Mordecai drew near his grip only enclosed around Lilith's forearm. With a tug that was meant to show how aggravated he'd become, the hunter pulled the woman out onto metal walkway encircling upper level of his tower and toward stairs leading down and out.

"If you won't phase yourself out I'll walk you out myself."

An instant later Mordecai felt Lilith tense under his grip. She maneuvered then, and phased out of his hand. The hunter, however, had already been partially expecting that and managed to catch her by the shoulder as she came back into existence behind him. She twisted as he shoved and when all was still again Lilith was backed up against the exterior wall of tower. Mordecai closer to her then he would like, one hand flat against the same wall in an effort to keep her from advancing back inside.

"What-" Mordecai hissed again, this time with a threat laced in his tone, "-the fuck do you want Lilith?"

"To be perfectly frank, I'm trying to figure that out myself."

"What?"

For a long moment Mordecai waited for an answer, but Lilith simply stared up at him as if she expected him to read her mind. Then, just as suddenly as the siren could phase shift, Mordecai realized that she was grabbing him by the scruff of his vest and pulling down.

Even as the hunter saw the contact coming he didn't quite believe it was happening. After a few blistering seconds however, he couldn't doubt there was, in fact, a siren with her mouth on his. And while bewilderment restricted much other action, instinct certainly went to work where their lips met. However, all too soon common sense seeped it's way back into Mordecai mind and he found himself tearing away from kiss (despite his body audibly groaning in protest as he did so).

"That-" Lilith heaved, her breath slightly short, "-honestly wasn't bad."

"Lily." Mordecai hissed in reply, his head light with a concoction of heat, lack of breath and confusion. "What the fuck are you doing?!"

Lilith took another moment to simply gaze at Mordecai. Although her expression gave nothing out of the ordinary away, there was a fire in the siren's eyes he couldn't place.

"You're not the only one that has been thinking, old man."

"Excuse me?"

"I think-" Lilith paused, briefly breaking eye contact. Her skin blushed lightly when she looked back to the hunter. "-I'm willing to give this a try."

"This?"

"This 'you and me' thing. I've been considering it. Even though a part of me has tried to suggest otherwise, I'm interested. If you still are that is."

Now Mordecai needed to take a moment to find his thoughts. Was she really being serious? Little more then two weeks ago Lilith had openly laughed in his face about his growing interest in her. Now, all of a sudden, she was coming onto him? That didn't make a fuck-ton of sense. Then again, past experiences suggested feelings didn't often make a lot of sense. Nevertheless, a fraction of cynicism got the better of the hunter.

"Bullshit." Mordecai regretted his word almost instantly, as Lilith's face twisted in disgust. "Your fucking loss." The siren spat as she shoved the hunter a good foot backwards, spinning away from him. As he watched her descended several steps, he started to panic.

"Lilith- wait." To Mordecai alarm she actually turned back. This time, he didn't waste his chance. "You want to go for a drink?"

For the third time in the past ten minutes, Lilith regarded him before answering, her eyes running over him as if trying to calculate whether he was worth her time or not. Then, her features relaxed and a smile grew on her face that made Mordecai feel like she'd been planning something like this since her first visit that week. "Yeah, but not here. You're going to have to take me on a proper date if you expect to have any chance with me."

A/N: Yay for updating twice in one week! So initially I had intended for this fic to only go as far as the beginning of a relationship for these two, but I think I'm going to go farther now... So here's to the next time! As always enjoy and please review!
