Sorry for the wait guys I suck at updating.
The next day brought different things for everyone. For Rapunzel, it meant going back to school. It meant the one place she felt safe; Art class. And now, she got to look forward to seeing her new friends again, and it meant… Merida. She really liked Merida. She didn't want to say anything though. What if Merida didn't like her? What if she liked somebody else? What if she was straight? By now, Rapunzel was almost 99% sure Merida was gay, but still.
And even more than that, the risk of the bullies. It was odd, that that word seemed to come up way too often in conversation. But the fact was, each of them were already being bullied on their own. It would just give others the advantage to make people hate them. So how was she supposed to go about it? She decided after thinking for a while. I have to just… ignore it. All that my feelings will do is bring Merida pain. She sighed, it was true. I can't burden her with this… no, not right now.
Rapunzel looked at the clock. Shoot! She was going to be late if she didn't hurry. She threw on a pink sweater and skinny jeans, and threw on her converse. She looked ok. Good enough, for being in a hurry at least. She slid down the banister (her mom wasn't home, she was at work.) and made some toast so she could eat on her way. She flew down the stairs of the great house she lived in. It was pretty big. She got the comfy little tower on the west side, and she loved it, but sometimes she wished she could be somewhere else.
"Time for school!" She sang out, to no one. She skipped out the door. Maybe she shouldn't be so happy, but come on. She just figured out that she was in love! Give her a little credit. She often walked to school, seeing as her mom wasn't always home and the school wasn't really that far. She grabbed a scarf and ran out the door. And of course, who would she see, other than her. God, why did life have to throw so many curveballs!?
She stepped out, and plastered a smile on her face. "Hey! Mer! Over here!" Merida quickly turned around. How odd, Her face was red. Rapunzel ran up to her. "Have you been outside long? Your face is red. It's fall Mer! Dress properly!" She scolded.
Merida giggled. "Haha, Ah cant believe you! Mer!? And you laughed at me for ridiculous nicknames!" She laughed again. Rapunzel turned red after a moment.
"Well… I… I Didn't...At least its not… Punzie!" She spluttered. Merida frowned. "Oh… thats not what I meant. I don't mind being called that." Merida was smiling now. Good. She had fixed her mistake. But for some reason, she just couldn't stop staring at that smile. It was a smile that showed just how she was feeling. She had nothing to hide, she was just… happy. She didn't hold anything back. Her eyes seemed to sparkle, however cheesy that was. She was so…
"...then Jack texted me back saying that… hey, are you even listening?"
Then, she, so attractively, said "Huh?" She shook her head, oh god. Merida had been talking to her! And she was just staring like some lovestruck schoolgirl. Which, now that she thought about it, she was in a way."I uh, got a little distracted." she sheepishly shrugged. Merida mumbled something that Rapunzel didn't hear. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that one either" She giggled Merida turned red again.
I said, why do you have to be so damn adorable? But it was a mistake to even mumble it. Suddenly they were at the school. Thank god I didn't try anything stupid. Merida was really tempted to kiss her on that walk to school. Really, really, tempted. She didn't though. And she was starting to wonder if it was a bad thing…
When they walked in they were cornered. By Flynn and his weird friends. Uhg. Couldn't they have just one day where they didn't have to see these guys? Her mood had been fine, but now!? Nope! Merida picked up her bag and threw it. At Flynn. In the freaking face. He stumbled, and she pulled Rapunzel out threw the opening.
"I didn't expect you to come here." He whispered, after he recovered.
Merida turned. "Ahm not weak! I just had a weak moment that time. It won't happen again. If I can't protect my friends, then how can I protect my self? Ye all are the weak ones, just the cronies of Pitch. And I will not back down anymore. If I have to fight, Ah will." She was pissed at them at the moment. She took Rapunzel's hand and they ran to class.
Rapunzel smiled once they reached the classroom. "You were really cool back there." She blushed a little. "It made me think you were some sort of hero." She bit her lip, wondering if she should continue. Well, why the heck not? It didn't matter anymore. "Like you were… my hero." Merida turned almost as red as the hair that surrounded her face. She opened her mouth to speak when -of course- the bell rang.
"Hehe, see you later!" She ran off to P.E., her first period class. Oh. god. Oh. My. God. Does she… like me? Like, like-like me? Merida thought. Wow, that would be really cool. But what if she doesn't….? So, for like the eighth time or something, Merida brushed off Rapunzel's words as wishful thinking.
Later that day, Rapunzel was sitting with Hiccup in their Honors English class. She really badly wanted to tell him she was gay too, but what if he told Merida? What if Merida was grossed out by it? Sure, she was friends with Hiccup and Jack, but they both liked boys! What if Merida figured out she liked her? Uhg. It was complicated.
"I'm not stupid, you know. I'm pretty perceptive." A whisper came from her left. "I know." He said. Rapunzel gave out a nervous laugh. Play dumb. He know's that you probably wouldn't lie to him. Use that. Rapunzel winced at her own thoughts. "Haha… know what?" Just tell him idiot, he already knows.
"Oh come on. I'm not completely useless." Rapunzel continued to play dumb. "So, you're going to make me say it?" He raised an eyebrow while Rapunzel internally panicked. "I know you like her. Merida. It's pretty obvious, and I don't understand how the two of you can be that freaking dense." He said.
Rapunzel sighed. "Yeah, okay, you win the prize. I like her. She's just so… I don't know. I just like her. A lot." She sighed, dreamily.
Hiccup rolled his eyes and huffed. "Fine, that's great. So why aren't you doing anything about it!?" He whisper yelled.
"Because! Bullying targets, remember? And it's not like she likes me!" Hiccup looked really frustrated now, like he wanted to strangle somebody. "Whoa Hiccup, are you ok?" She asked, hesitantly.
"I AM! YOU AREN"T!" He yelled. Like, yelled. In the middle of English class.
"Mr. Haddock! Calm yourself, please! Detention for the both of you!" The teacher said. The whole class did that stupid "oooohhhh" thing they always did whenever anybody got into trouble or called to the office.
Rapunzel groaned. "Now look what you've gotten us into!" She said, exasperated. "How am I supposed to explain this to my mom!? And I was going to walk home with Merida, for gods sake! A perfect afternoon! Wasted." She sighed, calm now. "I knew I shouldn't have fessed up… look where it got me." She was mumbling to herself now, but Hiccup caught the words 'detention', 'oh please', and 'Merida...'
Hiccup refused to apologize, but Rapunzel didn't mind. She was only mad that she wouldn't get to walk home with Merida.
Lunch finally came. When they got to the table, Merida and Jack looked everywhere but at them. Jack finally sighed after a few minutes of pokes from Hiccup, and said, "Hic, Sorry but I can't walk home with you today…" Merida looked to Rapunzel and said the same thing. Both Hiccup and Rapunzel asked, "Why?" at the same time.
Jack and Merida groaned at each other. "We, ah, got a little ittie bit of um, detention?" Jack said. He looked at Hiccup, expecting to be yelled at for misbehaving, but it never came. Rapunzel laughed. As a punishment, she decided to make Hiccup say it.
"Punzie…? What are ye grinning about? We got detention!" Rapunzel just smiled and looked to Hiccup. Which made Merida extremely annoyed.
"What is it, you two!?" She nearly screeched.
Hiccup growled. "Grrrr. You're going to make me say it. Again. Fine." He looked at Jack and put on his cute face (which made Merida scoff, and Rapunzel and Jack think he was adorable). "Uh… we sort of are in the same boat…" He laughed.
Jack furrowed his brow. "Babe, you never get detention. how did that even -"
"HAHAHAHA, it doesn't matter, all that matters is that we actually will be able to walk home together, the reason isn't important, right!?" Rapunzel said, nervous and a little too loud. Merida and Jack agreed. They knew she was hiding something but Jack knew Hiccup would tell him later, probably. Merida didn't want to seem too… pushy. Merida giggled at Punzie's sillyness. "We should probably get to class!" she said. Everyone went their separate ways, but Mer and Punzie headed for the one class they loved most, Art I, and waited for detention.
So um yep. This was sorta just filler? But also not. Im going to build on some of this. I'm assuming that you can guess that the next chapter will be about detention. It should be up pretty soon, but it might be a week? Maybe less. I have no idea guys I get sidetracked okay? See you next time, hoped you liked it, yadda yadda yadda. BYE
