Well hello there. Long time, no see, huh? Blame it on school. Even if it just started, I have to study hard so that it will become easier for me later.
The previous chapter was most probably a filler, so just go with it. XD
He kissed me once again, enveloping me in a hug.
"Excuse me, public display of affection is prohibited." A man in a black suit, most probably part of security, came towards us and warned us.
"Sorry." I smiled at the man as I let go of Ron and sat in my seat. The security guy nodded and went back to his patrolling of the mall.
"There is no reason to be afraid. Especially when I'm here." He huffed.
I rolled my eyes. "Yes, you already said that." I yawned. "Can we go home, now? I'm kinda tired." I smiled.
"Of course." Ron said and called the waiter. He gave him his, well Galloway's, credit card and the waiter had a device that would successfully make the transaction. He returned the credit card to Ron as he and I went out of the mall.
I took his hand in mine as we slowly walked towards the parking lot. "Hi!"
I stopped suddenly and saw a woman in front of me. She was wearing some sort of uniform. A red skirt, white shirt, white sneakers and a red cap. I raised an eyebrow at her. She wasn't in front of me a moment ago. "Can I help you?" I asked.
"Are you a smoker?" she asked with a smile, taking out a pack of cigars from a tray in front of her.
"Er, no. No, I'm not." I moved aside as Ron and I got into his truck. She disappeared as quickly as she appeared.
"What was that about?" Ron asked as the seatbelt flew around me. I'll never get used to that.
"That girl was a promoter. Basically, a job where she sells and promotes cigars." I explained.
"And what does that have to do with you?" he asked as he turned on the engine. We rolled out of the parking out quickly, driving steadily home.
"Nothing, they just randomly choose people to sell stuff to."
"Is that a common human job?"
I shrugged. "Maybe." Why would he care?
"Now, never mind that. How are you feeling? Any pain I need to report to Ratchet?"
I shook my head. "No, I'm not feeling any pain."
"Good." He said as the radio turned on. I listened to the quiet music.
We drove back home as I figured that the caffeine in the coffee didn't do much to give me energy. I closed my eyes and daydreamed, something I loved doing. Something that would always relax me.
I think I even fell asleep in the truck, because when I opened my eyes again, we were in front of the house.
"Come on, out." He commanded as the door opened on its own. I got out easily as we soon got into the house. "Hold on," I stopped, turning around to face him, looking him in the eyes. "Your bags are in my alt. Wait here 'till I get them." He went back to his alt, out of the house.
I left the door open for him. He was such a gentleman.
I sat on the couch, greeting Jazz, Sunny and Sides soundlessly. "Yo' tired?" Jazz asked. I nodded. "Yo' two, get away." Jazz said as the twins, who were sitting on the couch, moved away so I could lay down. Something seemed off.
One look towards Jazz and he knew he had to explain to me why the twins moved away without any whining and negotiation.
"Well, pretty lady, thing is that those two are punished." My eyebrows joined in confusion. "They threw a street race. Almost killed a human that was crossing the street in the middle of the night."
My eyes widened in horror. Are they crazy. I opened my mouth to say something, probably to yell at them for not thinking about the risks, but Sunstreaker beat me to it. "I'm still faster."
"Your 'driving' skills got us in trouble, dumbaft." Sideswipe argued.
"Not my fault that the dumb human decided to cross the street in that precise moment." He shrugged, sitting on the sofa along with Sideswipe.
Sideswipe nudged him harshly, earning a glare from Sunstreaker, but Sunstreaker didn't hit him back. His glare was powerful enough to stop Sideswipe from punching him.
I felt a little scared, because if those two started a fight in the living room, they would probably break something and if they turned off their holoform's, then they would transform and possibly ruin the house.
I felt the weight on my couch as I looked left, seeing Jazz. "Don't worry, sweetspark, they're jus' playin'."
I raised an eyebrow as I looked at them. One was nudging and stepping on the other's foot, while the other was giving death glares. Such play.
"You're so stupid, even Megatron wouldn't want you as a drone." Sideswipe added fuel to fire.
"You're so slow, human turtles are faster than you." Human turtles? The fuck…?
"Idiot."
"You are." Sunstreaker bit back.
"I am not!"
"Enough, yo' glitches!" Jazz stopped the fighting effortlessly.
"By the way, Mel," Sideswipe said, as if his previous argue with Sunstreaker didn't happen at all. "There was this guy that wanted to talk to you."
My eyebrows raised. Who was asking for me?
"I didn't really pay attention to his name-"
"Because you're just that stupid." Sunny huffed, but got completely ignored by Sides.
"But he said he had something really important to tell you. Can't remember what, though." He said with a chuckle and a shrug.
I nodded and yawned. "Aren't you a good messenger." Jazz joked as I lay my body down on the couch. I felt someone put the cover over me. I looked at who it was. The ever caring Jazz put the cover over me. "Thanks Jazz." I said and smiled at him, as I closed my eyes.
After I closed my eyes, I heard nothing but silence and a little ruffling after that. Probably Ron back with the bags.
I let myself go to the dreamland.
I still had to find out who asked for me, I made a note in my mind.
…
I felt gentle nudges. "You should get up." the gruff and yet gentle voice woke me up. I shook my head in denial. I wanted to sleep more. Even though I slept more than I ever have in my life, I wanted more. There's nothing wrong with sleeping longer, is there? "Your aunt made you breakfast."
I nodded with my head pressed on the pillow. Ron nudged me again. I shook my head. "I'll drag you out."
I immediately brought up my hand from under the cover and lifted my index finger, in a motion for him to give me one minute more to get up. "One minute is all you get. If you don't get out until then, I'm doing it my way." He'd drag me out anyway, so I opened my eyes and silently sat on the couch.
I yawned and looked at Ron. His neutral face fell apart with a tug of a smile on his face. "You feeling alright?" I nodded. I wasn't in the mood to talk today. It was just one of my many, many mood swings. Ironhide knew them all too well.
He got up off my couch and lend a hand to me. I took up the offer and slowly rose to my feet, as not to feel dizziness. I let go of his hand as we walked into the kitchen. It was very crowded.
Jazz, Sunny and Sides, Nicole and Bee, me and Ron, Will, Sarah and Belle were all in the kitchen. The ten of us weren't going to fit in easily. "Hi there." Jazz said to me, as I smiled in return. "Yo' twins, how 'bout we go patrollin'?"
"And have humans look at me like I'm the most beautiful thing they've ever seen? Sure." Sunstreaker shrugged.
"Yeah, let's go. See you, Mel." Sides said as the three of them left the house. I heard the loud engine noises outside the house. It was a pretty miraculous sound.
Suddenly, Sideswipe's holoform formed right in front of me. I screamed, but no sound came out. Sideswipe failed to notice it. "One more thing, don't forget to call that guy who was asking for you. He said it was pretty urgent." Just as quickly as he appeared, he had disappeared, leaving me to answer the question of why now scream came from my voice.
"Did you all see that?" Will said.
"Yeah." Nicole continued. "Mel, what's with your voice? It, sort of, backfired on you."
Bumblebee's holoform stepped forwards and looked my neck, poking it gently and looking at it from all sides. I froze. I had no idea what he was doing to me. Then I heard a transformation from outside and I saw Bumblebee at the kitchen window, looking at us from the outside.
"Bee?" Nicole asked, looking from the holoform to Bee's real form. Bumblebee motioned with a hand for us to come outside.
We all got out of the house, in front of Bumblebee. Ironhide transformed, too. "What are you doing, Bumblebee?" Ironhide asked.
"Even if you cannot hear my voice… When you lose something you can't replace…"
We were all silent for a moment. What is he saying?
I tried to speak up, but nothing came from my mouth. I felt adrenaline in my veins, pumping through my blood.
Why can't I speak?
I forced my voice to scream the hardest I could, and the only thing I could hear was a whimper.
I screamed and yelled, no sound coming out, until I felt strong pain in my throat. I gripped my throat and fell on my knees. I felt hot water on my knees, and I knew that was my tears.
I started couching, trying to scream, to speak. I couldn't. I couldn't control my voice! I entered a mild state of panic.
No voice! No form of communicating! No way of talking!
My brain raced in all possible directions. I breathed loudly as I moved forwards and backwards on the ground. I gripped my knees and dug my head between them. I felt the tears go cold, my throat hurting, my nose swelling and my eyes filling with more tears.
"Mel, Mel, we're here." Sarah and Will were by my side in an instant. "Get Ratchet here!" Will yelled to the two Autobots.
"Already did." Ironhide said. He kneeled down. "What is with her?" he said in a cold voice, as if he cared, but not enough to bother himself with it. I knew why he had said it like that. He couldn't say it otherwise. He had to be cold and uninterested for the sake of our relationship. Ironhide going bonkers in front of everybody wasn't like him.
"She can't speak, Ironhide." Will rolled his eyes. "Mel, just calm down, I'm sure this is just temporary." He soothed.
I raised my head and looked at him angrily. How the hell does he imagine this being temporary?! What if it becomes permanent?! What if I don't ever speak again! Has it ever happened to him, does he know what it feels like?!
To be deprived of my own voice.
He saw my look and apologized, as if he knew what I was thinking. "Mel, I'm sorry, but please don't get angry with me. I know that look all too well."
I thought about what he said. Perhaps he had seen too many faces of people losing something they couldn't replace. A brother. A parent. A partner. A comrade.
I bowed my head.
He knew what it was like to lose. Someone or something. His brother, my father.
I motioned with my mouth, trying to say 'sorry', but nothing coming out. He seemed to understand.
"It's alright. Ratchet's here, so don't worry. You'll get better. I'll make sure of it." He promised.
And Ratchet did come. I saw the flashing lights of his alt mode as he parked on the gravel.
Seeing how Ironhide and Bumblebee were in their real forms, Ratchet transformed as well, kneeling down to my side. "Why is she on the ground? Has she lost her motor abilities?" Ratchet asked.
"Why would she lose her motor abilities?" Will asked, looking at him and standing up.
Ratchet didn't falter, "What is the situation here?"
"The problem is her voice." I heard a slightly British accent. I heard a voice I've only heard with Bee's holoform.
We all looked at Bumblebee, who seemed to have been through this situation.
"I see you are finally using your voice, Bumblebee." Ratchet noted.
"She has the same problem I did." Bee answered in a serious voice. It made me think what was his problem.
"Her vocal processors are not operating?"
Bumblebee nodded.
"She was normal yesterday." Ironhide said.
So now what, I'm abnormal? I looked at Ironhide disapprovingly, but he ignored me. At this moment, I was ignored, yet in the center of attention. Ratchet stepped back for a moment, turning his head to Ironhide. "Has she lost any weight?"
What does my weight have anything to do with this?
Ironhide nodded. "Yes."
How would he know?!
I waved my arms like a lunatic grabbing their attention from the ground. I motioned with my hands towards my body. And then I raised my hands to shoulder lengths and shrugged. I was trying to tell them how had I lost my body weight.
"When I um, took you to your bed, you were… bony." It must have been awkward for him to say... But this was hilarious, despite the situation.
"She was what?" my uncle yelled. He turned towards me quickly and pressed one of my ribs, just too see if I was bony. For goodness sakes. "You… Mel, you have lost weight."
I shrugged. Was anything wrong with weight loss?
"In your case it could be fatal." Ratchet said.
"Why?" Sarah said, frightened.
"I've explained it to Ironhide some time ago."
"And why didn't you explain it to us?! We're her family, Ratchet!" Will yelled.
"I supposed Ironhide would spread the news."
"I'm not a messenger."
I found a rock on the ground and threw it at Ratchet. It bounced off his leg loudly, gaining his attention.
"Alright, I'll scan her." he kneeled down and took out a rectangular device that spread a blue light over me. He was scanning me. And then he stood up and sighed. "It's advanced."
"It's what?!"
"Can you not hear what I'm saying? The bacteria, cancer and energon are starting to take effect on her body."
"You told us it was benign!" Will yelled.
"It is. But mix the energon with it…" Ratchet started.
"And slag happens." Ironhide finished. He then turned to Ratchet. "Do you have the cure?"
"I'm still thinking over it. I thought I had it but… it's very dangerous, so I hope that what I think is the cure, isn't."
What?
"The frag are you saying Ratchet?"
"I'm saying that I think I have the cure. But it's very dangerous and it could kill her. I'm thinking that-"
"You've had half a year to think over the cure, why haven't you made it by now?!"
"Most of the subjects with this type of cancer hadn't even made it past four months, let alone six, Ironhide! I've tried with some syringes to avoid the blood and energon from merging, I'm not sure if they had worked." He shrugged heavily.
"So now what, Ratchet? You're the most experienced doctor in the universe. What should we do about her health?" we all looked up at him.
A long silence greeted Ironhide mercilessly. Ratchet's voice was raspy and exhausted, and just seemed like giving up. He sighed, "I don't know."

And we're at a short chapter right here. :/ I've been out of inspiration lately and seem to forget what I wrote and what I didn't write. But I assure you that the story will continue, I'm not stopping until I'm done.
You should also know I'll be away for a week sometime soon, so I don't think the next update is going to be in the near future. :( I'm sorry, but that's the way it is. Things will go back to normal. :)
So review please and pray for my inspiration to get back to me.
