Well, I'm just saying that shit is gonna roll downhill. I mean, Ratchet's just having the time of his life trying to find the cure. XD

I'm still not having inspiration. :/ Maybe some songs, stories, movies, TV show suggestions would be good. But since I'm not here to whine about my problem, I'm here to write a story, and that's what I'm going to do.

Now let's get to it. :D

We didn't know what to do. Nobody knew. It was a tense moment.

We were all silent. If Ratchet couldn't help me, nobody could. And I was just going down without a fight.

I never felt pain, other than the occasional heart pain. My voice cut off on its own.

Or as Ratchet would put it, the energon damaged the vocal chords, which would mean that energon is everywhere in my body.

It was sickening. Having this strange, deadly substance inside of you that you cannot possibly get out.

And that horrible feeling when the doctor says that this is only the beginning. The beginning of an end.

Ratchet said that it would have started with the voice, reducing the motor abilities of my body completely after. Every couple of days, my body would start refusing to obey my commands, because the energon in my body had damaged the nervous system.

"Ratchet." Ironhide spoke up. All of our heads turned to him. Will, Sarah, Nicole and me were watching him from the ground. Bumblebee and Ratchet were standing tall and looking more serious than I have ever seen them before. "You told us that you thought you had a cure. A possible cure. What is it?"

Ratchet stood silent, as if debating whether to tell us the answer or not. "It's complicated to explain."

"I wanted an answer, not an explanation."

"I think the answer is energon."

"What?" us humans from the ground, except me, said at the same time.

"What do you mean by energon?"

"This is the difficult part, Ironhide. I've scanned her mere moments ago and the results were… disappointing. Instead of the energon removing itself from the blood, it had joined."

"Why did this happen? And what is going to happen to her?" Ironhide's voice grew deeper and a hint of anger could be traced.

"Her organs can't process the energon at all. It's a toxic substance. It will destroy the organs. And her body, in a defensive move, joined the energon with the blood, so that both of the substances could 'work' together and let her body function for as long as possible."

"And how are we going to fix that? By inducing more energon into her? What kind of a logic is that, Ratchet?" Ironhide was clearly not in the mood.

"Listen to me, the human body can adapt to anything. It's outstanding, but it's true, and that just may help her. The body is having struggles with both substances working together in her body, that is why her voice is destroyed."

The last part of his sentence hurt. A lot. So my throat started hurting. I never asked for any of this.

"Some of her organs will be severely damaged as well, we can't escape that. But we do not want the energon clogging her heart."

"And that is why we should induce more energon into her?" Ironhide looked at him as if he was just waiting for the moment to strike him.

"Once her body adapts to the already present amount of energon in her body, I can dilute the energon that we induce into her."

"Ratchet, why would we put in more energon into her, when her body can't live with it?"

"Because if we put the energon into her, her body will adapt faster! It will adapt so quickly that it will find a way to work without the energon at all! Once we start reducing the amount of energon, diluted energon, to zero, her body will function perfectly without it. Diluted energon is much weaker than energon in general and it won't harm her body as much. But she needs it to survive."

"I don't understand your logic, Ratchet. She needs to be poisoned so she could survive?"

We were all looking at Ratchet strangely. "Correct. It's the only way, Ironhide. If there were any other I would have thought of them by now. Besides, she doesn't have a lot of time left, not with that cancer of hers. It's been with her for too long. It's a miracle she's alive now."

"Hold on, Ratchet." Will resounded. "Mel might not live a lot longer," he gulped, "but why would we risk her life with giving her more energon? We could kill her by doing that!"

"Would you rather wait for her to die or do something about it?" Ratchet glared at him.

Will glared back. It lasted for a few moments until Will gave up with a loud sigh. "Fine." He shook his head. "We'll do anything we can to make her better."

I stood up quickly, feeling dizzy in my head but I dismissed it. Everyone's eyes were at me now.

Why didn't I have a say in this?

"What?" Ratchet asked, confused by my actions.

I took a branch from the ground and made letters on the sand that we had in the small corner of our property.

"Maybe we should just give up."

I was sick of this fight. I was sick of the disease. I was sick of everything. I wanted to get away from it. I wanted to be healthy again. I didn't want this.

I never wanted this.

"Giving up is for rookies, so why did you come all the way to just give up? You struggled so many times to survive and you did, this is no different, Melissa. You must suck it up and move on. We're going to make you better with Ratchet's solution and that's final."

I shook my head and waved with the stick in a 'no' motion.

"It's decided, Mel." Ratchet finished. "We'll start with the treatment tomorrow morning. I'll be coming every few days to check on her. Notify me of any changes." Ratchet transformed and rolled out, leaving us in the dust without another word said.

Bumblebee transformed into his alt mode, leaving his holoform on, giving me a reassuring hug. "You'll do fine."

I shook my head. I didn't want to 'get fine' or 'do fine'. I wanted to get better. I wanted to be healthy. Not fine, healthy.

Will came from behind me and hugged me. "Let's go inside, Mel. I know it's hard on you, but you have to make it through."

I wanted to rage. I really did. He has no idea how hard this is, he has no clue that I cry at night, knowing that every time I go to sleep, I may not wake up again. And I never know when the moment will come when I won't see the light of another day. Never. And he thinks he knows what it's like.

But instead of doing that, I nodded with a smile. I hid the pain inside of me, and let the smile spread across my face. I've been thankful to him all this time. He let me live at his house. He cared for me. He had a bed for me to sleep in. He gave me tasty food and pure water. I had been living great here.

And a few moments ago, I had wanted to rage on him. I was in one of my mood swings once again.

Maybe it was even good that I didn't have my voice, as painful as that was to think about. A lot of stupid stuff couldn't come out of my mouth.

"We should go inside, Mel." Sarah gently said. "We don't want you to get a cold." She enveloped me in a warm one-arm hug and walked with me inside the house. "I'll make you chamomile tea, you just relax."

I merely nodded and sat on my couch. A moment later, I felt someone sit beside me.

Thinking it was Ironhide, I leaned on the person and closed my eyes. "I know what it's like." The British accented voice made me freeze. It wasn't Ironhide. It was Bumblebee.

I quickly opened my eyes and moved away slowly. "Sorry." I would have apologized if I could've uttered a word.

"It's okay." He said, smiling, as if understanding my mute language. "I've been in your position for a very long time." I nodded, leaning on the couch. "It's not easy, but Ratchet can fix it. Trust me." his smile grew bigger.

I smiled back, mutely saying "Thanks."

A couple of moments later, I head the roaring of engines. Beautiful, loud engines that I knew all too well.

The twins and Jazz are back.

"Where's she?" I heard Jazz's voice from outside.

"She's inside, what's the matter?" I head Will's voice, too.

"It's that… that human male. He's been chasing us all over the town." Sunstreaker said, irritated.

What human male?

"Humans are really starting to freak me out now." Sideswipe's voice joined in the conversation.

I heard the door opening and Jazz came to the living room. "Yo femme, wassup?" he said with a grin. I shrugged with a smile. "Well, I got some news for ya." He looked out the door, "Sideswipe, get yo' sorry aft over here!" I chuckled at his always happy-go-lucky attitude.

I heard more footsteps enter the house, and Sideswipe came inside the house. "What?"

"Tell Mel 'bout tha' human tha' was chasin' us." Jazz said.

"It was that human that called you, I don't know his name, but his voice was familiar."

I cocked my head to the side in curiosity. He needed a little more information to give to me, because I still didn't know who he was talking about. "How does he look?" Bumblebee asked, giving himself the role of talking instead of me. Right now, he was good at it.

He was in my position for a long time, he was right. I knew he couldn't talk for hundreds and thousands of years, as corny as it sounds.

"It's that human…" Sideswipe said, as if trying to remember, "That boy… Sunny, come here!" Sideswipe yelled.

A second later, Sunstreaker's holoform popped up in the center of the room. "What is it?"

"That human that was chasing us, we know him, just not his name. He chased us around town, trying to take pictures of us while we were driving."

"You know him, too." Sunstreaker talked to me. "He used to flirt with you."

I still had no idea what or who he was talking about. And how would Sunstreaker, he of all people, know if somebody flirted with me? Maybe he was at the same place at the same time when this mystery guy flirted with me. "After yo' amnesia, there was this guy… I think his name started with D…" Jazz spoke out loud, trying to remember the name as well.

So I got a name starting with the letter D, a guy who used to flirt with me after my amnesia, loves to chase exotic cars around town…

"He's the one who called you, he had something important to tell you." Sideswipe added.

Will, Nicole and Ironhide came into the room as well. "Here's the phone." Jazz said, taking the phone and handing it to me. I took the phone and stared at it. "Well, call him."

I looked at him like he was a moron. He raised an eyebrow. I made a motion with my hand mimicking a pen in my hand and shaking my wrist. I was clearly saying that I had to write something first.

That goodness Nicole and Will were here, otherwise I'd just be considered crazy for doing strange things. Nicole came up with a pencil and paper in hand and handed them to me. I took a hard cover book and put the paper over it. Nicole sat by my side and looked at what I was writing.

'I don't know the number and I can't talk.' I showed them the paper and the writing on it.

They all were silent for a while. "She's got a point, there." Jazz said. "Ratchet told us yo' lost yo' voice. Don't worry, Bee's gonna show yo' the ropes, ain't that right, Bee?" Jazz said with a smile, trying to light up the atmosphere.

"It's not funny, Jazz." Bee said seriously. "Try living without your voice for a good half of your life."

At this moment, I understood Bumblebee. I also understood the rest of the team. They changed. A lot.

Bee wasn't as happy-go-lucky anymore. Jazz tried to get away from the bad situations with simple humor. But some things are just too serious to be made fun of.

"But," Sideswipe interjected, trying to erase the awkwardness in the room. "Maybe somebody could talk to him instead of you? He really had something important to tell you. This is the number." An array of numbers showed up on the paper, because Sideswipe used his holoform's eyes to project the numbers on the paper.

"I'll do it." Nicole volunteered, taking the phone from my hand and typing the number. She pressed the dial number.

I nudged her, moving my lips as if talking to her, "What the hell are you doing?"

She seemed to understand, "You can't talk, nobody here can speak like a girl and I'll put it on speaker. You can write what you want me to say and I'll say it. That way, you can talk to him... without really… talking to him."

That sounded weird.

I took the pencil and paper and quickly wrote down, 'Our voices aren't the same, and why should everyone listen to the conversation?'

She read it quickly, while the phone was beeping on the speaker, still dialing the number. "Everybody, get out, this is a private conversation." Nicole demanded.

"We want to know what it's about, too." Sideswipe said.

"No you don't, Sideswipe. Get out." Nicole really wasn't merciful today. "You two, get out as well. This is between Mel and that guy we're calling." She ordered to Jazz and Sunstreaker.

"If we gotta go, we gotta go Sunny."

"Stop calling me that." and with that, they got out of the house, leaving Will, Bee, Ron, Nicole and me to listen to the conversation.

"Hello?" I immediately recognized the voice.

"Hi." Nicole answered.

"Who is this?"

"You wanted me to call you, said it was urgent." Nicole answered without missing a beat.

"Melissa? Your voice changed."

I knew who this was. No doubt about it. "Yeah, it's me, Melissa. So what did you want to ask me?" Nicole kept talking casually.

"I'd… It's best if we meet somewhere." I shook my head. I wasn't meeting anywhere with him.

Nicole nodded to me, "I don't think that's a good idea."

"I know, I know, I'm so sorry, Mel, I didn't want to do the things I did to you, I was really, really immature and such a big jerk. I'm sorry."

We all started wide eyed at the phone. I quickly wrote on the paper, 'It's okay, D.'

Nicole read the sentence out loud. "It's okay, D."

"It's not, I really am sorry. I'd like to meet with you somewhere."

I shrugged and thought about it for a moment. I didn't know what to do. Go and meet with Dalton and be mute the whole time, or send in Nicole to do the job?

Who am I kidding, I'd never let her go. She doesn't even look like me.

"Hello, Mel?"

Nicole caught me thinking over it, and replied to Dalton. "I gotta go, I'll call you back." And she hung up on him. "What do you want to do? Do you want to meet with him?"

'How?' I wrote. 'I can't talk.'

"I'm sure there is a way." She shrugged.

'It doesn't matter.' I quickly scribbled.

She shrugged again, respecting my decision. "Okay, we won't even call him back. He'll get the message."

I yawned silently.

Everything was so confusing to me. I couldn't speak. Dalton, of all people, wanted to apologize to me and Ratchet wanted to intoxicate me more than necessary.

Where did the logic of this world go?

I know some of the things I quickly wrote up in this chapter regarding Ratchet putting more energon into Mel when she's already struggling with the one she has in her body may be confusing, but in the next chapter (or chapters), I will explain everything to the last detail. It makes perfect sense in the end, so don't worry. ;)

I'd really like your opinion on this, guys. :D
