-Gravity-

Summary: When you fall you can't blame gravity. You can't fight it either. The first time we fell, we were 11 and didn't realize it. Carefree and proud. We never imagined that a catastrophe would happen in our time. But it did. In reality you can't get angry when you keep on falling, because some things are meant to be that way, you just have to do the best of the worst. Gravity don't mean too much to me, I 'm who I've got to be. Follow the story of the other side of Harry Potter and Wizard War II and you'll se that we all hurt, laugh, live, died and love.

Second year: Chapter VII. Aiding and planning

"I've been worryin' that we all, live our lives, in the confines of fear"

Ben Howard – The Fear

"Let me get this clear. You want me, the one that you have mocked for being an annoying know-it-all, to help you out with something you will not even tell me." Hermione said pulling a book out of the bookshelf and trailing to an empty desk.

"When you say it like that…"

"Umm…"

"Well… yes."

"No way." She answered sharply before harshly placing the book on the table. The three Gryffindors in front of her exchanged quick glances. Hermione rolled her eyes and spread her homework over the wooden surface. Finally Turpin sat in front of her and placed her own book on top of Hermione's potion essay.

"This." Said the girl pointing the title of the book. Moste Potente Potions gleamed back to Hermione with silver letters and mouldy covers. The Ravenclaw dropped her quill and took the book.

"But this book is on the restricted section…" she said with a thin voice. Potter nodded.

"We managed to have Lockhart signing us a permit." He said quickly.

"The brainless git didn't even look at what book we were asking for!" Said Weasley. Quickly shut up at both females glaring at him.

"He's not a brainless git!" they said at unison. They looked at each other and fell into an awkward silence. Potter cleared his throat.

"Well…" He said and Turpin nodded.

"Look, Granger… Hermione… we need you. I may be intelligent but you are the brightest witch of our year. Only you could possible make this potion." She pleaded with the other girl. Hermione's cheek became pink.

"And that will be…?" She said her voice softening a little. "I'm not saying that I'll do it, yet." Potter and Weasley sat on the table too. Hermione glancing sharply at the redhead.

"The Polyjuice Potion." Potter said quietly and with a serious face. Hermione looked at them astonished.

"Polyjuice Potion? And what for? Who are you going to transform into?" She asked sharply. "This more than a hundred school rules will be broken, and not only that, this is hardly legal outside from school!" She added quickly and bit her lip. The Gryffindors exchanged another look and nervousness spread over their faces. Weasley murmured something under his breath that Hermione didn't quite understand.

"We need it to found out if someone is the Heir of Slytherin or not." Said Turpin slowly. Hermione nodded, still biting her lip.

"And who is it?" The Ravenclaw asked. The Gryffindor tensed.

"Draco Mal…" Potter began.

"No." Hermione said sharply. "He's not. And I'm not doing it." She pushed the book back to Turpin and began collecting her things and standing from the desk.

"Wait!" the other witch said as Hermione walked away.

"I told you she wouldn't do anything against the Slytherins!" hissed the redhead and Turpin glared at him before running to catch the other girl. Potter also stood up and shook his head.

"Stay quiet Ron, we need Hermione and you are not in her best books…" before running to catch the witches. Weasle huffed and ran after his friends.

Hermione was furiously walking towards the Ravenclaw tower. How dare they! Of course Draco was a bully and he believed in pureblood supremacy but that didn't make him a killer.

"Hermione! Please wait! Hear me out!" The Gryffindor witch hurrying to catch up with her. The Ravenclaw ignored her and continued walking. Turpin caught her by the end of her sleeve. "Please..." She said out of air. Hermione huffed.

"You are saying a friend of mine is a killer..." She said angry, her voice failing at the last word.

"We are not sure." Turpin corrected her. "And you were there that day, you hear him 'You'll be next Mudbloods.' Please, this is a risky plan I know but it's the only plan we got…" Hermione bit her lip.

"I don't want the Chamber of Secrets open. I don't think muggleborns should be afraid…" she said in a weak voice. "but… he's not…" she said uncertainly. Potter caught up with them and panted.

"I'm a muggleborn Hermione. I think that threatening muggleborns is worst that everything this plan has. Would you not help us?" Hermione bit her lip and looked at Lisa and nodded. Harry caught up with them.

"I'll do it. For the muggleborns and to prove that Draco is innocent." The Ravenclaw said. Harry and Lisa smiled and she returned the smile hesitating a bit.

Five minutes later, they were barricaded in Moaning Myrtle's out-of- order bathroom once again. Lisa had overridden Ron's objections by pointing out that it was the last place anyone in their right minds would go, so they were guaranteed some privacy. Moaning Myrtle was crying noisily in her stall, but they were ignoring her, and she them.

Hermione opened Moste Potente Potions carefully, and the four of them bent over the damp-spotted pages. It was clear from a glance why it belonged in the Restricted Section. Some of the potions had effects almost too gruesome to think about, and there were some very unpleasant illustrations, which included a man who seemed to have been turned inside out and a witch sprouting several extra pairs of arms out of her head.

"Here it is," said Hermione excitedly as she found the page headed The Polyjuice Potion. It was decorated with drawings of people halfway through transforming into other people. The alarmed look on Harry's face said that he sincerely hoped the artist had imagined the looks of intense pain on their faces.

"This is the most complicated potion I've ever seen," said Hermione as they scanned the recipe. "Lacewing flies, leeches, fluxweed, and knotgrass," she murmured, running her finger down the list of ingredients. "Well, they're easy enough, they're in the student store cupboard, we can help ourselves… Oh, look, powdered horn of a bicorn, I don't know where we're going to get that… shredded skin of a boomslang, that'll be tricky, too and of course a bit of whoever we want to change into."

"Excuse me?" said Ron sharply eyeing the Ravenclaw witch with distrust. "What d'you mean, a bit of whoever we're changing into? I'm drinking nothing with Crabbe's toenails in it!" Hermione continued as though she hadn't heard him.

"We don't have to worry about that yet, though, because we add those bits last…" Ron turned, speechless, to Harry, whom had another worry.

"D'you realize how much we're going to have to steal, Hermione? Shredded skin of a boomslang, that's definitely not in the students' cupboard. What're we going to do? Break into Snape's private stores? I don't know if this is a good idea…" said Harry.

Hermione shut the book with a snap.

"I'm also a muggleborn and…" She said sharply. Lisa nodded, not amazed. Harry and Ron looked at her astonished.

"Why do you hang out with Slytherins?" Ron asked harshly, spatting the name of the other house, and interrupting the witch. Hermione looked at him with sharp eyes.

"They don't know. And unlike you, they have never been rude to me." She said softly. "Look, I don't want to break rules, but I ready to do it if we can help muggleborns. If you are going to chicken out, fine, I'll walk away and forget this thing!" Her cheeks were dusted with pink and her eyes were unusually bright.

"She is right you know. Who knows, maybe we" Said Lisa, pointing to herself and Hermione "could be next, or a first year. Everyone attacked is innocent and the culprit should be ashamed."

"I never thought I'd see the day when you'd be persuading us to break rules," said Ron to Lisa. "All right, we'll do it. But not toenails, okay?"

"How long will it take to make, anyway?" said Harry to Hermione, who looking happier opened the book again.

"Well, since the fluxweed has got to be picked at the full moon and the lacewings have got to be stewed for twenty-one days ... I'd say it'd be ready in about a month, if we can get all the ingredients."

"A month?" said Ron. "Malfoy could have attacked half the muggleborns in the school by then!" But Hermione's eyes narrowed dangerously again, and he added swiftly, "If he is the heir of course. Anyway… it's the best plan we've got, so full steam ahead, I say."

However, while Lisa was checking that the coast was clear for them to leave the bathroom, Ron muttered to Harry, "It'll be a lot less hassle if you can just knock Malfoy off his broom tomorrow." Hermione was out first, walking upstairs alone and as the Gryffindors walked down the hallway the redhead mutter to his friend again.

"Did you know that she was a muggleborn?"

"No, do you?" The redhead shook his head before adding.

"How can she be with Malfoy and company? They hate muggleborns!" Harry looked at him, contemplative.

"You hear her, they don't know. And, remember first year when they made you apologize to her?" the redhead scowled and nodded. "That is something you do for a friend…" Harry said before becoming quiet

I find this chapter particularly endearing. Hermione is, and always will be, the brightest witch of the age and only her could manage to brew a Polyjuice potion at the age of twelve. That's why the Gryffindors had to ask for her help. It's the start of something here. I intent to leave her in a similar role as her book-version on latter years and for that, she needs to know Harry, Ron and Hermione.

I also want to note that even if the story has a third person narrator, the feel of the narration varied depending of who is involved in the events. mostly the side is that of Victoria, Blaise, Draco and Theo and for example Severus will be called Professor Snape instead of Snape as done in the books, the same with Harry, Ron and the rest of Gryffindors. this chapter is narrated from Hermione's events, and as her animosity turns to a sort of complicity/trust the form of addressing each other changes.

hoped you liked the chapter. feel free to leave a review.
