2006- April

"Elliot! Where have you been? I told you to be home a hour ago." Olivia scolded when she saw Elliot walk through the front door, running around the house.

"Sorry, honey, the guys and I lost track of time." Elliot sighed, running a hand down his face. "Why did you need me home so early again?"

Olivia groaned. "I told you five times. We have William's birthday party." She grabbed Zack's diaper bag. "I'm going to get the kids. Clean up a little bit before we go." She left the room and hurried upstairs. "Guys, c'mon. We're going to miss Will's birthday party if we don't go soon." She opened the door to Dickie and Kendle's room and found all three of her sons. She smiled seeing them watching TV together on the floor. "What are you guys watching?"

Dickie looked up. "MTV."

"Whoa!" Olivia said, eyes wide. She turned off the TV. "We do not watch MTV." She chuckled when Dickie and Kendle flopped onto their backs, playing dead. "C'mon, we have William's birthday. Where's your sister?"

"She's in her room." Kendle said pointing towards their door.

Olivia nodded once. "Okay," She picked up Zack. "You guys go downstairs and wait for your father. I'll go get Summer." She walked out of the room and went down the hallway, furrowing her eyebrow when she heard loud music. She opened the door to find Summer singing to the radio while jumping on her bed. "Summer!"

Summer stopped jumping and smiled sweetly at her mother. She turned off her radio. "Yes Mommy?"

"You are going to go deaf just like your daddy." Olivia chuckled putting a hand on her daughter's head. "C'mon, we have to go to William's birthday party. William is probably waiting to see you."

"He's always happy to see me." Summer grinned, running past her mother.

Olivia chuckled. "You have your daddy's personality too."

July

Elliot smiled and kissed Olivia's cheek before getting out of their car. "C'mon, so my mom decided to throw a little party."

"For the whole neighborhood on one of the hottest days this year. Dickie and Summer are already starting to get that heat rash and they haven't even been in the sun." Olivia said pointing to their two oldest children.

"I know they are. But, the doctor said it was just a reaction. It's not harmful to them." Elliot chuckled. He leaned against the car while looking at his wife. "The only reason you don't want to go is because Kathy is here." Olivia raised her eyebrows. "I don't want to see her either, but the kids haven't seen Rebecca in months. She's been traveling the country with her boyfriend."

Olivia rolled her eyes. "He's also Nigil's father. If they get married, Kathy is going to technically be Rebecca's family."

Elliot nodded as he helped their kids out of the car. "That's why I feel bad for her. But, she is happy with this Josh guy. I just hope she doesn't get pregnant and finds out that he leaves the girls he knocks up."

"El, I know he did that, but Kathy was using him to try and get you back. He still takes care of Nigil." Olivia sighed leaning against him. She backed up after a second. "You're sweaty."

"Yeah, I know. I'm not even sweaty from having fun." Elliot grumbled. Olivia chuckled, blushing lightly.

Kendle looked up at his parents. "What would be fun that would make you sweat?"

Elliot smiled. "Well, wrestling?" He said, wondering if it would suffice for his son.

"You said wrestling isn't allowed." Dickie frowned putting his sunglasses on.

"You know what? Go play." Elliot said before his kids wandered off, Olivia picking Zack up and chuckling. "Our kids ask too many questions."

Olivia grinned. "Says the father that questions people everyday for their job." She pecked his lips. "C'mon, I'm sure Becca wants to see little Zacky."

As the party continued, all their kids were hanging out in the living room with their aunts, uncles, and cousins. Elliot and Olivia were standing on the sand, talking to some couple that was at their graduation party. "You two have grown up. The last time we saw you, you were pregnant with Richard." The woman said, putting a hand on Olivia's arm.

Olivia smiled. "Uh, yeah. Dickie is going to be eleven next month. Our daughter, Summer, will be nine in October. Then, we have a son named Kendle. He just turned seven. And, our youngest, Zack, will be three in September."

"Wow, four kids?" The man asked, clapping Elliot on the shoulder. "You must be proud."

"Yes, I am." Elliot chuckled. "Yeah, we've been married for twelve years now. It's hard to believe sometimes." He looked at his watch. "Oh baby, we should get going if we want Zack to get a good nap in."

Olivia nodded. "Okay, do not eat anymore chips. You've already gone through a bag." She grinned when he stuck out his tongue.

The woman chuckled at them. "Well, it was nice seeing you Elliot. Hopefully, we'll see you again soon." Elliot nodded at them before looking out at the ocean.

He always loved looking out at the blue water when he went to bed at night. He loved being here. It reminded him of when they were in high school and couldn't wait to be alone in the house. Now, they couldn't wait to see their kids after a long day of work. Elliot smiled lightly before his thoughts were broken by someone grabbing his arm. Whoever it was, spun him around and kissed him. His hands immediately went above his head in shock. When the lips left his, he saw Kathy. "What the hell are you-" His eyes caught Olivia's. She had seen the whole thing. "Liv-" He watched as she ran away. He looked at Kathy. "What's wrong with you?!" He ran after her. "Liv?" He saw her in their car. The kids were already inside. "Olivia!" He ran after the car until it left the drive way. "Damn it!" He ran back to the house and went inside.

"El, honey, what's wrong?" Bernie asked watching her son storm in.

"Nothing. Can someone give me a ride home? I really need to talk to Olivia and she stormed off with the car." Elliot said, disgusted with what just happened.

Scott stood up. "Uh, yeah. Let me get my keys and we can go." He looked confused as he passed.

Joe looked at his younger brother. "Elliot, man, what happened?"

Elliot shook his head. "I'll explain later. I just really need to explain it to Olivia first." After Scott dropped him off at the house, he ran inside. The lights were off and nobody seemed to be home. "Liv?" He called up the staircase. He went to the door the went downstairs. "Liv, honey? Where are you?" He went into the kitchen, his attention catching the paper on the counter.

Dear Elliot,
I took the kids out to your mother's. I'm going to stay there for a while. I think we should spend some time apart. I thought we were doing good and everything, but I guess I was wrong. I'll call you soon. I already called Cragen. He's letting me take the week off. I love you, but if you need something else I guess I'm not the one for you.
Olivia

He teared up reading his wife's words. Grabbing his phone, he dialed her number. It went straight to voicemail. He hurried out to their garage and got into their other car. "Please don't give up on me, baby."

Olivia sat on the couch watching TV with her daughter in her lap. Summer was playing with her nails while Olivia braided her hair. She looked up when Joe and Jordan walked in. Jordan spoke up. "Hey Murmur, how about we go listen to some music? Mommy said you have a pretty voice and I want to hear it."

Summer grinned and looked up at her mother. Olivia smiled lightly. "Go show Jordan your dance moves too. I bet he'll dance with you."

"Okay." Summer smiled and kissed her mother. "Love you." She ran out with Jordan following her.

Joe smiled at them before turning back to Olivia. He sat down on the coffee table in front her. "You okay?"

"Honestly,... no." Olivia sighed, running a hand through her hair. "I watched him kiss Kathy, the worst woman on this planet. What is that supposed to mean for me? If he kisses her, what's to stop him from doing something with somebody else?"

"I don't know." Joe shrugged. "Maybe, it's you." Olivia furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Elliot doesn't even like Kathy. Why would he kiss her?"

Olivia looked down at her hands and shrugged. "I don't know." She looked out the window when headlights shined through. "That's him."

"I'll go talk to him." Joe said, patting her knee. He kissed her forehead before heading outside. Elliot got out of the car, tears on his face, as he walked up. "El-"

"I need to talk to Olivia." Elliot insisted.

Joe put a hand on his brother's chest. "El, I just think she needs to be alone right now."

Elliot's eyebrows rose. "When did you become the one that knew Olivia the best?"

"When you put your lips on Kathy's!" Joe shouted. Elliot took a step back. "Olivia doesn't know what to think, but she's not okay. I don't blame her. Dude, what were you thinking?"

"I didn't kiss her!" Elliot yelled. "I was looking out at the water and all of the sudden I was spun around and I was being kissed. I didn't know what was going on until it was over!"

"What position were you in when she kissed you?" Joe asked.

Elliot let his shoulders drop. "Are we really talking about this?"

Joe nodded. "Yes, because I like your wife better than you right now." He mimicked his brother when he scowled. "Show me what position you were in."

"Fine." Elliot grumbled. He held his hands up and behind him, doing what he did that afternoon.

"You were in that position?" Joe asked. Elliot nodded his head, dropping his arms. "I'll go get Olivia." He sighed. He jogged up and into the house.

A moment later, Olivia walked out with her arms folded over her chest. She looked somewhat lost as she slowly stepped down the stairs. "Elliot..." She ran a hand through her hair and looked back at the house before looking down at her shoes. "I left you a note."

Elliot nodded. "Yeah, I know. I don't know what you saw with Kathy, but I didn't kiss her. She kissed me and ended it before I even realized what was going on." He stepped towards her and was relieved when she didn't step away. "Baby, I'm so so sorry you had to see that. I'm still sorry I had to be apart of it. Honey, you gotta know that I would never do that to you intentionally."

Olivia paused, digging her foot into the sand. "I know that. At least, I thought I did." She looked up at him and he saw the pain there. "It's just, when I saw you.. with her, I didn't want to believe it. But, it was real. A part of me still hasn't quite believed that you would want to be with me. When I saw that, that part took over."

"Liv, honey," Elliot breathed, stepping closer to her. "I want you more than anything. I need you. If I haven't made you believe that by now, I must be a terrible husband." Olivia chuckled. "There's that smile. I live to see that smile. Baby, I love you."

"I love you too, but-" Olivia started, but was cut off.

"No buts, I want you." Elliot said kneeling down and hugging her waist. "I'm never letting you go. And, I won't let you go until forgive me."

Olivia put a hand on his head. "El, I just don't know what to think. If Kathy kissed you today, what's going to stop her from doing it again? What if you realize that she's better than me? What happens then?"

Elliot kissed her stomach. "If I ever think that, I will shoot myself. Seriously, honey, she is a terrible kisser." He looked up at her and grinned. "Besides, I could never leave you. I would die if I wasn't with you."

"I would die if I wasn't with you too." Olivia breathed, rubbing his cheek. "I love you, El."

"I love you too, Liv." Elliot breathed, standing up and hugging her. "So much." He kissed her head. "I promise you; I am never going to hurt you that way on purpose. I hate myself right now for making you feel this way."

Olivia held him tighter. "I know you wouldn't. But, please don't hate yourself over me."

Elliot pulled back and pecked her lips. "Too bad, I already do." He dropped his forehead to hers. "Can we go home? I think my brothers really hate me right now."

"Your sisters hate you more." Olivia chuckled. "We didn't even tell Bernie. I just asked if I could stay for a while and she started making sleeping arrangements." She looked back at the house. "If you explain, I bet they'll forgive you."

"Eh, they don't love me like you do." Elliot smiled. "I will make it up to you."

Olivia shook her head. "You don't have to."

Elliot shook his head at her. "But, I want to."
