Heya guys! :D Soon, DOTM will be finishing and a couple of more chapters after I finish writing DOTM, we will finish this story as well. It's sad that the end is slowly coming, but like all good and bad things alike, the end will come. It's just a matter of time when it does.
Well then, here's the 86th chapter of this story, I truly hope to get to that marvelous 100th chapter… Ah well, here we go then! You might want to listen to 'No Prisoners, Only Trophies' for added effect.
"But he… he's dead." I gasped, still not believing what I was seeing.
"But he got into the Xanthium… How…?" Nicole and I couldn't find a way to explain it. He was dead, this couldn't be happening. And yet it was all recorded on the tapes and he saved the citizens of Chicago.
"Does that mean…?" I asked. Does that mean that the others were alive as well, even though we saw them explode to pieces?
It wasn't logical that they were alive and yet they were.
"I…" Nicole was wordless. Almost everyone was.
"Where the hell did he come from?!" Mearing yelled. I was so sick of her.
Suddenly, Optimus started running down the crane, activating his thrusters and taking flight. That's when we saw a flash of orange and yellow, and knew that he was shot by some rockets.
"I want to know who's shooting at Optimus!" Mearing voiced again.
The camera tilted downwards, showing us a creepy one-eyed Decepticon. That was Shockwave, no doubt about it.
Optimus went spiraling through a building, entangling himself in thin wires as they held them from falling to the ground. Optimus angled his head and opened his mouth, I supposed he was yelling something to someone. But he wasn't looking in the direction of Shockwave, which was odd.
Then who was he talking to?
"Whoa, whoa, whoa… What's that?" A soldier said, moving a 3rd camera which was focused on the ground. Three NASCAR inspired cars drifted through a corner, ending up transforming.
Those were the Wreckers.
I felt a tugging at my hand and I turned my head from the camera. I met tearful, pleading and eyes full of hope and desperation. "Mel, if Optimus and the Wreckers are alive, could that mean…?" She didn't need to finish that sentence. There was a huge chance that Bee was alive, too.
"I don't know, but I think… I think he's alive." I said as she instantly hugged me, her tears falling over my shoulders and to the ground. She sobbed quietly. I hugged her back.
"What the hell are those things?"
"What are they launching?"
"Is this some sort of a chain bomb?"
I brought my head up to see the many confused faces of the people inside this room. The main screen showed up a video of some sort of tube looking things being sent into the air. They hovered in the air and they had a blue orb in them.
"Wait, are those…?" I asked.
"The pillars." Nicole answered, looking at all the screens that were showing numerous amounts of pillars scattered in the air. "The Decepticons have hundreds of pillars."
"But what-" Mearing started, but got cut off by Nicole. Nicole was nothing if not brave and bold.
"You heard Sam." Nicole said. "They're going to launch them into orbit and bring Cybertron here."
"Fantastic." She huffed.
"Director, we found a lot of activity on the corner of St. Galen and Mott street." A soldier reported from his seat.
"Show me." She said, the main screen flickering another video footage, then stabilizing the image.
It showed the footage of Starscream kicking and hovering in the air, before attaching himself to a garage building. He kept kicking and waving his hands like a maniac, sparks flying from his head.
The hell was going on with him?
Then I realized that something was flying around him. And it wasn't a UAV drone. It was Sam.
Sam.
"That's Sam!" Nicole yelled, pointing to his body that was being thrown around. I prayed to God that Starscream wouldn't hit Sam.
Suddenly, Starscream activated the thrusters on his back and flew up into the air, swinging and turning around rapidly, sending Sam straight through a window of a building.
A tense atmosphere built up as nobody knew if Sam was alive. "Please let him live, please be okay, Sam…" Nicole prayed, locking her hands together and tucking them under her nose, blowing air and warming herself.
"Wait, our men are down there!" Simmons yelled. "Zoom in!"
Another camera next to the main screen quickly zoomed into the black figures that were holding matte black weapons, hiding behind trashcans, corners of buildings and an upside down turned school bus.
I hoped children weren't in that bus.
A soldier ran through the battlefield, hiding himself from Starscream behind a wall. Another camera showed footage of the soldier sitting next to a blonde.
"That's Will!" I yelled. I was so happy to see him alive.
"That's Carly!" Nicole yelled at the same time as I did. She and I looked at each other and then back at the screens.
"Holy shit…" I found myself say. They had to get away from Starscream and get Sam away from Starscream safely.
Will made a motion with his arm and most probably yelled, but we didn't have audio transmit, so we couldn't exactly tell. But the next second, the soldiers, including him, started shooting at Starscream.
"Please don't shoot Sam…" Nicole prayed, almost shaking with fear.
Then Sam jumped out of the window, landing on the crook of Starscream's neck. He jabbed something sharp into Starscream's eye as Starscream went even wilder. And just as Sam managed to get down on the ground, we noticed that he had some sort of device stuck to his hand. It was alien in nature.
"The fuck is that on his arm?" Nicole gasped.
Will rushed to him, trying to untangle the device from Sam's hand, but couldn't do it in time. He clung onto Sam as Starscream leaped into the air once more, the two of them swinging from side to side.
"Please don't drop, please don't drop, please don't drop…" I prayed quickly, I couldn't lose my uncle!
Starscream leapt into the air, higher than ever and landed on a high building rooftop as Sam and Will dangled from a metallic rope that was connected to Starscream's optic. That must have been quite painful for him.
Then the metallic rope cut off, retracting into Sam's device as Will and Sam started falling from the 60ft fall and Starscream's head exploded, most probably because of a bomb, followed by his spark inside his chest, killing him instantly.
I stared, wide eyed at the camera which was following Will and Sam's fall.
No…
"No…" I gasped, my eyes already tearful and my chest hurting. Will was going to die. Sam was going to die.
God, please no… I can't lose them, please…
Suddenly, two yellow arms caught Sam and Will. The Transformer did a back flip, transforming into his altmode and going in reverse as Starscream's dead body fell from the building and onto the ground.
I stared at the altmode. I couldn't believe this. My head whipped towards Nicole.
She stared with an open mouth at the alt. As she slowly started to realize who it was, her lips started to twist in a smile, her eyes instantly overflowing and tears running down her cheeks freely.
"It's him." she said, taking my hand and pointing to the screen. I smiled a wide smile. "Bumblebee is alive, Mel!" She hugged me very tightly.
"I know, I can see him." I chuckled as she started to laugh.
"My Bee… My Bee is alive!"
I let her have her moment. I knew I would never get my Ironhide back. I had to repress my tears hard so that she wouldn't see me cry.
But the wound was still too fresh as I started crying. Not sobbing, but just crying. My tears fell over my face.
"Why are you crying? It should be me who's doing that." she laughed, wiping her face and starting to wipe my cheeks with her thumbs. She was such a gentle best friend.
"Oh, you know…" My lower lip trembled. I couldn't tell her the real reason why I was crying. "It's just that Bee's alive and I'm so happy!" I said, hugging her. I had to lie. I didn't want to ruin her moment.
I opened my eyes, which I didn't even know I closed, looking at the screen. "Look, look, look!" I quickly said as she stopped hugging me, turning around to look at the screen.
Bee summoned up his holoform as Carly ran up to them. She just looked at him. I guess she still hated the Transformers. The four of them were talking, pointing in some direction.
"Soldier, where are they pointing?" Mearing commanded.
The soldier showed the image of the building with the domes, with the domes that had pulsing lightning bolts around them. Then Will called the rest of his squad, although there were less soldiers with him now.
I shook my head and lowered it. Many good men died.
"They're going to the building." Mearing voiced, scribbling something on a piece of paper, presumably taking notes.
Then they all started to run. And they ran for a good 7 minutes until they reached the end. The river.
They had to get across the river to get to the building with the domes on it. The cameras were focused on them and where they were going, nobody was noticing where Bee had gone.
"Tomahawks are inbound." A transmission went off, as computer screens of the soldiers sent feedback of rockets being deployed. "ETA, 20 minutes."
I walked over to Simmons and his assistant, Dutch, who kept rapidly typing and punching the buttons on the keyboard. "I'm in the traffic cameras." He said, unlocking us a completely new view of Chicago. I didn't know what or where this part was, but we haven't seen it before, that much I knew.
The video footage was brought up on the many screens, as it showed four Autobots kneeling, their hands locked behind their heads or their backs. "Four Autobots are captured."
"Oh my God, we're helpless." Mearing gasped, staring at the screen before her. How did they get captured so quickly?
The pulse of the blue light inside the pillars pulsed faster, the lightning bolts on the building moving faster. The transportation was about to happen soon. "This was set to happen, those… pulses are getting faster." Simmons said. We were all doomed. "It's gonna happen soon."
"No sign of Optimus."
I stared at the screen as I saw, Mirage, Ratchet, Bee and Que captured, with Decepticons around them.
Oh shit…
And then I saw US Marines and Navy Seals emerging from the river. They needed a way to get those bridges down and get our guys over to the other side of Chicago.
"Just pan the camera around, alright?" Simmons said, motioning with his hand.
"Alright pan… pan right, that's you?" Dutch said, motioning to a soldier which had the controls of a certain traffic camera.
"Try to get into the bridge's controls." I heard my uncle's voice over the speakers. I had never been more glad in my life to hear his voice. I felt relieved.
"What are they doing, they're just standing there." Mearing said, exhaustion clear in her voice, but so was desperation, fear, anger, nervousness…
"Hang on." Simmons said to her, before turning to Dutch. "Dutch, see if you can hack into the bridge."
Dutch started typing quickly as over the black screen a series of green numbers started to emerge. I didn't know what they meant or what Dutch was doing and typing on the computer because of them. I stared at the screen that showed movement of the captured Autobots.
I saw Ratchet being pulled up, struggling to stay on his feet as 'Con pushed him down, sparks flying.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, pillars are doing something." Simmons said, looking at the screen. The bolts almost formed a sort of a pyramid over the building, connecting with the top dome.
"It's a 128K binary encryption code." Dutch said, frowning. "It's difficult… But not for me, I'm in. The bridge. Down." He said as the bridge was truly coming down.
Simmons looked at Mearing, feeling proud. "Pleasure working with you Seymour." He said, but Mearing rolled her eyes. "I believe you're supposed to say."
"Good job, Dutch." Mearing said, coming to his side and patting him on the head.
"Dankeschön." He replied in German, which meant 'thank you'.
"But what about the Autobots?" Nicole said as I saw Mikaela and Leo come in as well.
"What about them?" Mikaela asked.
A Decepticon kicked Bumblebee in the spine, sending him chest first into the hard concrete, then picking him up again.
"Whoa dude!" Leo yelled, looking at a screen. Not only was it hard to look at Bumblebee being tortured, it was the screen next to it that made us all stare wide eyed at it. The spacebridge was in motion, deploying a huge ray of light into the sky. "What the-!" Mikaela slammed her hand over his mouth.
"The spacebridge…" Nicole gasped, her eyes wide as she had witnessed her loved one being tortured and the light from the building connecting with the skies.
"It's started." Simmons said, almost not believing in the words. Then just as suddenly, another gray Decepticon, with a Mercedes insignia on his chest, grabbed Que by the neck and dragged him to an empty spot. Que tripped and fell, his body language suggesting that he was begging them not to offline him.
But another Decepticon shot at him from the back. Sparks from his chest flew freely to the ground, disappearing. Que was down on his knees, staring at his hands which started to slowly fall apart as the kill shot was handed to him from the back, again.
Was that it? Were all of these Autobots going to be executed?
And as if my question was going to be answered quite painfully, the gray Mercedes Decepticon went back and grabbed Bee by the neck just as roughly and started dragging him to the same place Que was executed.
"No…" I heard Nicole and looked at her. Her face screamed terror and horror. "No no no no no..." she pleaded.
Bumblebee tripped on purpose, twisting his ankle so that he would fall and give him more time to live. But that had only bought him mere seconds.
So it didn't matter that they lived through the Xanthium crash. They were going to die here.
By the way, when you read the 'St. Galen and Mott street' I totally made that up. I just needed a street to go by and my imagination provided me some.
So what do you guys think? A couple of more chapters until I get this friggen Dark of the Moon done. Can't wait to get it done, it's such a bother XD And remember, I didn't put Barricade into this chapter because he died a long time ago. Killed by a headshot from Ironhide. Even though he helped shoot Que in DOTM.
Yeah, I'm sorry for making this a short chapter. Well, somewhat short. I just love to leave a cliffhanger.
Critiques and reviews are always welcome, they help me improve a lot. I feel like, if I didn't get them before, I couldn't have made you cry at the previous chapters. You know, sometimes you just need a push in the right direction and that's what you guys gave me by reviewing my stories. And it has gotten us well over 700 reviews now, which I greatly appreciate. Who knows, I might get to the 1000 review perimeter, I'm less than halfway there! :D As Leo in ROTF once said, 'Gotta have dreams bro.'
But I won't get ahead of myself, I'll be happy if this story reaches over 100 chapters. I'll be thrilled if it gets over 1000 reviews. So then, until the 87th chapter, review, fave, follow! :D
