2010- January
Elliot and Olivia sat at their desks filling out reports. "Hey, I'm going to get soda. Do you want one?" She asked looking up at her husband.
"Uh, no thanks." Elliot said, shaking his head. He put a file away and rubbed his hands down his face, trying to get rid of some of the fatigue. He watched Olivia walked into the break room.
Olivia opened the fridge and pulled out the first thing that looked appealing. When her phone vibrated in her pocket, she grabbed it and answered. "Benson."
"Hi Olivia." A voice came through. Olivia recognized the voice as one of the guard's at her mother's prison.
"Neil? Hi, what's up?" She asked, putting the soda on the counter in front of her.
There was static before he replied. "Liv, I'm sorry to tell you this. We found your mother an hour ago. We think she had a stroke."
Olivia paused. "She's not dead. She tried to pull this before. There's no way she's gone." She chuckled nervously.
"Liv, this is the real deal." Neil reasoned. "We're going to send the body to the funeral home you decide to use. All we want you to do is come down and identify the body."
"Okay, I can do that. It's not going to be my mother." Olivia chastised. "I'll see you later." With that, she hung up and walked out to the squad room.
Elliot looked up at her. "Hey, who was on the phone?" He asked, gesturing to her cell phone clipped on her hip.
Olivia took a sip of her soda before sitting down at her desk. "Oh, that was Neil. He called and said that my mom was found dead." Elliot's eyes widened. "I don't buy it."
"Liv, honey-"
"She's not dead. She tried pulling this before." Olivia snapped. "We have to go and identify the body later."
"Well, how about I go talk to Cragen. Maybe, he'll let us leave an hour early so we can get out there tonight and get to the kids at a decent hour." Elliot suggested before getting up. He walked into Cragen's office.
"Hey Elliot, what can I do for you?" Cragen asked as he looked up from his desk.
Elliot closed the door and leaned against it. "Uh, Olivia just got a call. A guy we know from Serena's prison just informed her that they think she had a stroke. They want us to identify the body."
Cragen's jaw dropped as well as the pen from his hands. "Uh, go ahead a go. If it is Serena, tell Olivia I'm sorry."
Elliot nodded once before leaving the office. He walked to his desk and grabbed his jacket before he looked up at Olivia. "He said we can go." Olivia huffed out a breath and grabbed her coat and purse.
When they got to the car, Elliot started it and pulled out onto the road. Halfway there, Olivia spoke up. "My mother cannot be dead." She blurted out. "I just found my brother three months ago, and-"
"You what?!" Elliot asked shocked. Olivia suddenly got quite as she looked out her window. "You have a brother? When were you going to tell me? You know, the husband you've had for the past fifteen and a half years! Dammit Liv! You told me that nothing popped up!"
Olivia groaned inwardly seeing her husband furious with her. "I'm sorry! I didn't want to tell you because, if I did, you would find out that his DNA is in the system. My dad wasn't in there, but he was. I looked into it and it was just some voluntary thing. They were looking for a rapist. He wasn't the one, but his DNA was somehow left in the system." She saw his knuckles turning white. "I haven't met him or talked to him. I've only seen a picture. I found out he's married though."
Elliot shook his head. "I still can't believe you lied to me. I thought we told each other everything."
"El, I'm sorry." Olivia breathed, looking at him. His jaw was clenched and the vein in his forehead was clearly visible. "I just didn't want you to judge him before we met him. He's my brother." She sighed, tearing up, seeing he wasn't letting this go for a while. She didn't blame him.
They reached the prison and were led to the morgue. Olivia knew this all too well as they neared the window with the shades drawn. Neil put his hand on the string that would unveil what was on the other side. "Are you ready?"
Olivia stepped forward and took a deep breath. "Yeah."
Neil looked at Elliot, conveying the message Olivia hadn't gotten. Elliot stepped closer to Olivia when the shades were drawn. Olivia gasped, putting a hand over her mouth. "No!" She shrieked before Elliot had his arms around her. He felt her tears soaking through his shirt as her fists clung to the collar of his jacket.
Elliot watched as Neil nodded to the coroner before closing the shades. He nodded sympathetically at Elliot before leaving the room. Elliot held onto Olivia tighter when she sobbed. "I'm sorry, honey."
Four days later, they were at the funeral. People came giving condolences. Half of them, Olivia didn't know. They talked about how Serena was a good teacher, but they didn't remember her mentioning a daughter. At the cemetery, Elliot held Eli and Oliver in his arms while Kendle clung to his leg. Olivia had Zack resting on her hip, her arm resting on Dickie's shoulder while Summer held her hand.
April
"I can't believe my boy is fifteen." Casey whined, putting her hand on top of William's head.
"Mom, the hair, please." William complained, fixing his ruffled hair. After he fixed it, he put a hand on Summer's shoulder and kissed her temple before walking out to the living room.
Elliot growled, stepping forward to take William's hand off of his daughter. Olivia put a hand on his chest. "El, they are fine." She kissed his cheek. "C'mon, it's just a crush. They are young. They'll probably make something out of nothing and break up. Don't stress over it."
Fin chuckled. "El, William is a perfect gentleman. He won't hurt Summer."
"I don't want her dating." Elliot argued. He sat down on a chair and calmed down slightly when Olivia sat on his lap. "How long have they been going out anyway?"
Casey grinned. "William told me they are on month nine."
"That's too long." Elliot said shaking his head.
"Hey, it's the same amount of time Dickie and Carmela have been dating and you have no problem with it." Olivia pointed out, poking his nose. She chuckled when a small smirk came to his face. "Your little man is dating and now your soldier is dating and you don't like it."
Elliot paused. "She's my baby."
"Awww!" Casey and Alex grinned. Elliot rolled his eyes.
Olivia chuckled and pecked his lips. "They all are our babies. I get that you want to hold on to our daughter as long as possible, but... El, at some point, you have to let her go."
Elliot ran a hand down his face. "I don't have to let go until she goes off to college. That's another five and a half years away. It's not going to feel like that long though. I still feel like I should wake up and see that five pound little girl smiling up at me from her cradle."
That night, Elliot, Olivia, and the kids were watching a movie in the living room. When the doorbell rang, Olivia paused the movie. "I'll get it." Elliot said already heading for the door. He opened the front door and saw Olivia's brother. Neither him nor Olivia had talked, but he and Olivia had been looking at him in their car a couple of times. "Hey." He greeted wide eyed.
"You're the guy!" Simon nearly shouted.
"Hey, could you cool it? My kids are in the other room." Elliot said holding up a hand.
Simon being less stressed at the mention of kids. "Fine, but what were you and that other cop doing watching me at my house?"
Elliot stepped aside and let him in before closing the door. "I think my wife should explain that to you. It's kind of complicated." He walked into the living room and played the movie, distracting the kids. "Liv, somebody is here for us."
Olivia furrowed her eyebrows, but followed her husband into the foyer. Her eyes widened when she saw her brother. "Simon?"
"How do you two know me? And, why are you following me?" Simon asked.
"Uh," Olivia started. "I'm Olivia Stabler and this is my husband Elliot Stabler. I found you when I ran my blood through a kinship analysis. You popped up. The only way we can be related is by being siblings."
"What are you talking about? I never had a sister." Simon said shaking his head.
Olivia sighed. "That's because I was conceived when my mother was attacked... by your father."
Simon's eyes widened. "That's impossible. My father loved my mother."
"Yes, and rapists often lead double lives." Olivia nodded. "That's why I looked for you. I wanted to find my father, just to see where I came from."
"You have no proof that my father raped your mother." Simon argued.
Olivia paused. "I'm proof." She looked in the living room and found her kids deeply engrossed in the movie on the TV screen. "How'd you find out where I lived?"
Simon paused. "I followed you two from your precinct. I waited out in my car until I was sure no one would come or go."
Elliot's eyes widened. He looked at Olivia before looking back at Simon. "Liv, I told you we should get outdoor cameras."
"I always wanted a big sister." Simon smiled lightly.
Olivia returned it. "Well, you have one. You also have a brother in-law, a niece, and five nephews."
"Wow!" Simon grinned. "This is weird. You have a sister in-law, a step nephew, and niece that we named Olivia. I always liked the name and that's what we named our daughter."
Olivia beamed. "Wow... that is weird." She chuckled and ran a hand through her hair. "Uh, why don't you come meet everyone?" She looked at Elliot and watched as he went out to the living room to pause the movie again. "Come on."
They both walked into the living room. Elliot was sitting down on the couch in between Dickie and Summer. Olivia introduced him to each of the kids while Elliot pointed them out to him. Olivia and Simon ended up in the kitchen while Elliot and the kids stayed in the living room to watch the movie. "Okay, so Dickie will be fifteen. Summer will be thirteen. Kendle will be eleven. Zack will be seven. And, Eli and Oliver are one and a half?"
"You got it." Olivia chuckled. "And, I have been married for sixteen years."
"Wow, so you got married right out of high school." Simon concluded.
"I got married after my junior year of high school. So, I was married my senior year." Olivia nodded.
Simon shook his head. "I didn't even have the chance to fight off any boys from you."
Olivia laughed. "Well, I don't think you couldn't pulled Elliot and I apart. We started dating after I moved in with his family. His parents adopted me after a couple of months."
"So, you two are like brother and sister?" Simon asked.
"If you want to think about it the creepy way, I guess." Olivia shrugged. They both chuckled.
