2013- February

Summer teared up looking down at the white stick in her hands. She took a deep breath, trying to will the tears away. There was a knock at the door that made her heart rate increase tenfold. "Murmur, William is on the phone and he really wants to talk to you. He said you weren't picking up your cell phone." Dickie said through the door.

She stood up, putting the white stick on the sink. She opened the door and took the phone. "Thanks. I left my phone in my room."

Dickie took in his sister's appearance. "Hey, what's wrong?" He put his hands on her shoulders. "What did William do?"

"It wasn't all him." Summer breathed. She looked up and down the hallway before pulling him into the bathroom and closing the door. She brought the phone up to her ear. "Hey Billy."

"Hey baby, what'd the test say? I told you I wanted to be there with you when you took it." William sighed as he sat on the edge of his bed.

Summer took a deep breath. "Well, I didn't want to wait any longer. I'm pregnant." She saw Dickie turn to her with his eyes wide. He looked at the pregnancy test on the counter as the realization came over his facial features.

William took a deep breath. "What do you want to do? Do you want to keep our baby?"

"I don't know yet." Summer admitted, closing her eyes. "Can we meet up for dinner? We can talk things over."

"Yeah, I'll pick you up later." William breathed. "I love you, Murmur."

Summer closed her eyes. "I love you too." With that, she hung up the phone and set it down on the counter. She looked at her older brother. "I screwed up."

Dickie nodded. "No kidding." He watched as she sat down on the edge of the tub. He sat down next to her, gripping the tub's edge with his hands. "What are you going to do?"

Summer shrugged. "Billy and I are going to talk things over later." She looked up at him. "What do you think I should do?"

"I think that you should think about what's best for you and this baby." Dickie said, wording his answer carefully. "If it were me, I'd go with open adoption." She nodded, looking down at her feet. He wrapped an arm around her and kissed her head. "Everything is going to be fine. I promise. I am not going to let anything bad happen to you." Summer wrapped her arms around his torso as he wrapped both of his arms around her. "How are you going to tell Mom?"

"Does she have to know?" Summer asked, half joking.

Dickie smiled lightly. "Mom is going to notice you getting bigger." He rubbed her back. "I'll be there with you on one condition."

Summer sniffled. "What's that?"

"You need to bring another girl into this family." Dickie stated with a chuckle.

"I'll try." Summer laughed before standing up. She held out her hand. "C'mon, if we don't get out of here, someone is going to know something is up."

Dickie took her hand and went with her downstairs. Later, Olivia was home and cooking dinner. "Hey Mom, Billy is taking me out for dinner tonight. I'll be back before eight."

Olivia furrowed her eyebrows. "Before eight? You usually fight me to stay out until ten o'clock."

"Yeah, I know. We're just going to talk things over." Summer sighed, running a hand through her hair.

"Is something wrong?" Olivia asked, worried that her daughter was going to break down into tears.

"Uh, yeah, a lot of things are wrong." Summer huffed before she heard the doorbell ring. "That's probably Billy. I'll text you later." She hugged her mother quickly before going to the front door. Dickie was already there, talking with William.

Dickie was pissed. "How could you do that to my little sister? She's only fifteen. You're going to be eighteen in a couple months. How could you take advantage of her like that?" He pushed on William's shoulder.

William was starting to get irritated. "Dude, I didn't force her to do anything. I didn't mean for her to get pregnant. It just happened." He looked over Dickie's shoulder to find Summer walking towards them. "She's coming."

Dickie turned to his sister and put a hand on her back. "Call me if you need me." He hugged her and kissed her head.

"I will." Summer nodded and looked at William. "You ready?" He nodded, sliding his hand into hers. She leaned into his side as they walked to his car. Dickie closed the door slowly, looking out the small windows beside the door.

Olivia smiled at her son. "When did you become your father?"

Dickie turned to her and smiled as best as he could at the moment. "Since the first time I said I was awesome." Olivia chuckled and turned to go back into the kitchen. Dickie looked back out and saw them driving away. "I just wish he was here for this."

When Summer got home, she walked through the living room to find her family watching Everybody Loves Raymond. Dickie looked up at her and saw her gloomy face. He stood up and walked into the kitchen before her. Summer sat down slowly on one of the barstools as Dickie grabbed a soda from the fridge. He opened it and took a sip of it before standing in front of Summer on the other side of the counter. "What happened?"

"Uh, it's a little awkward." Summer sighed. She ran a hand through her hair. "William asked me who my 'first' was. He knew the baby was his and we came to terms on that, but... why would he ask that question?"

Dickie saw the gears working in her head and knew why William asked that question. Things must've gone south from there because Summer was calling him William. "I think Mom should tell you about that."

"What is it? Whenever something like this is brought up, it's like a big game of hide it from Summer." She huffed. "What happened to me?"

"Do you know why we can never find Mom and Dad's yearbooks?" Dickie sighed, turning to his mother's cookbooks. "It's because they hide them." He opened up to his parents' class and found Mike's photo. "I'm sorry." He breathed before handing the book to Summer. She scanned through the photos until she found Mike's. She felt her blood run cold. Her palms were clammy and her heart rate quickened.

"That-that's the man from my nightmares." Summer realized. "He's real?"

Dickie nodded. "You should really talk to Mom." He saw the tears already rolling down his sister's face. He walked over to her and hugged her. "What are you going to do with the baby?"

Summer trembled as she gasped for breath. Dickie closed the book and pushed it away from her. She hid her face in his chest as she sobbed. He rubbed her back, feeling tears burning the backs of his eyes. After she caught her breath, she spoke. "We decided that open adoption was best for us." She paused as Dickie held her. "I need to talk to Mom."

"Do you want me to get her?" Dickie asked.

"No, I'll talk to her upstairs. That way, if she starts yelling, the others won't hear her as loudly." Summer sighed and got up. She grabbed the yearbook, feeling dirty for even touching it, and tucked it under her arm. She walked out to the living room with Dickie. "Hey Mom, can I talk to you upstairs please?"
