2013

Summer's palms started sweating as they walked down the hallway together towards her room. Her mother's footsteps echoed behind her. Slowly, she entered her room and closed the door behind her. She sat down on her bed, placing the yearbook under her pillow behind her. Olivia sat down in front of her. "What do you want to talk about?"

"Uh," Summer started, not sure how to start the conversation. "I... do you remember the Christmas party Dickie and I went to at Carmela's house?"

Olivia thought back before nodding. "Yeah, you and Dickie slept through lunch the next day." She smiled remembering Dickie's disappointment in the fact that he missed a meal.

"Well, something happened at that party." Summer said tearing up. She sniffled and spoke before her mother could react. "I'm pregnant."

"You're what?" Olivia asked, thinking she misheard.

Summer wiped her eyes. "I'm pregnant." She looked up from her hands, nodding. "Billy and I..." Olivia stood up, her hand over her mouth. "I'm sorry."

"What the hell were you thinking?" Olivia asked pacing her daughter's room.

"I guess, not a whole lot." Summer said, looking down at her hands that were in her lap.

"You're damn right not a whole lot!" Olivia shouted. "You're fifteen! You shouldn't be even having sex! You should be focusing on school."

Summer pulled out the yearbook, her mother not paying attention to her. She opened the book until she found Mike's picture. "How old was I when he took a piece of me away?"

Olivia stopped and froze when she saw what her daughter had. "Where did you get that?"

"The cookbooks." Summer told her.

"But, how did you know they were there?" Olivia asked, her arms folded over her chest.

Summer looked up at her mother, tears in her eyes. "Does it matter? How old was I? I want to know. I deserve to know what he did to me." She saw her mother tear up as she went to look out her window. "I know you wanted Dad to be here to tell me, but... I need to know."

Olivia shook her head, willing her tears away. She stared out the window to the street below. She remembered the first time she had looked out this window when she was pregnant with Summer. Slowly, Olivia sat down on her daughter's bed, facing her. She took the book, closing it before setting it beside her. "Mike was a friend of your father and I's. He was there when Dickie was born and when you were born. Obviously, you remember him after that." She ran a hand through her hair. "A couple months before your first birthday,... you were taken out of your car seat in the middle of a grocery store. I had just taken you to a doctor's appointment. I turned my back for a second when I was on the phone with your father... and you were gone." She wiped her eyes, avoiding her daughter's gaze until she was done. "We found you the next day. Cragen's team had you checked out at the hospital and they found signs of sexual abuse."

"We didn't know who took you until you were almost three. When we told you and your brothers that you'd be going to Mike's when we went out to dinner with your uncles, you told us that Mike had hurt you." Olivia breathed, playing with her finger nails. "Later, we found out that he had raped you and seven other little girls. You were one of the only two to survive. He was fixated on you because he had imagined a relationship that wasn't there." That's when she looked up at her daughter to find tears in her eyes. "Sonya Paxton was your attorney. She was awful. Mike killed six girls and raped eight, but she only put him away for thirty." She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Summer, baby, I'm so sorry."

"Me too." Summer choked out before hugging her mother. Olivia pulled her daughter into her lap as they both sobbed. She wrapped her arms tightly around Summer, letting her face rest in her hair.

After a while, Olivia was resting against Summer's headboard with Summer cradled in her lap. They both were silent as they clung to each other. Olivia pressed a kiss to her daughter's head before speaking. "What do you want to do?"

Summer looked up at her mother. "Billy and I decided open adoption was best for us." She paused. "I screwed up."

"Yeah, you did." Olivia sighed, rubbing her daughter's back. "You are grounded for three months. The only time you get electronic privileges is when your father calls over the phone or over the iPad."

"Okay." Summer agreed, resting her head on her mother's shoulder. "That's fair." She wiped her eyes. "I love you, Mom."

"I love you too, soldier." Olivia breathed, kissing her daughter's head again.

April

"I have my appointment today. Billy is taking me." Summer reminded her mother as they got ready for their day.

"I remember. Dickie is going with you also." Olivia informed her daughter with a nod towards her brother. "My trust has not fully come back to William."

Dickie came up to the counter and set down his empty bowl. "Understandable." He kissed his mother's cheek before grabbing his keys. "We have to get going."

Summer sighed. "Okay." She hugged her mother. "I'll see you later. Wish me luck."

"I still think I should be coming to this appointment." Olivia said tapping her daughter's nose. She kissed her forehead. "Call me when you find out news, okay?" Summer nodded. "Good, now scoot." She patted her daughter's butt before she watched her leave with Dickie, Kendle, and Zack.

Later, she was at the precinct. The day had been slow, but Olivia didn't mind. That meant she'd be heading home with enough time to hear about her daughter's news. "Olivia Benson!" A familiar voice sounded. Mentally groaning, she stood up to come face to face with Sonya Paxton.

"Hello Sonya." Olivia greeted before the lawyer pulled her into a hug. "Are you okay?"

"Never better! I just got a granddaughter." Sonya smiled. "My son became a father yesterday."

"Oh, well, congrats!" Olivia said with as much enthusiasm she could muster for the woman. "I didn't know you were married."

Sonya smirked. "You don't have to be married to have kids." She looked around. "Your husband is still over seas, right?"

Olivia furrowed her eyebrows. "He's in Brazil, why?"

"Well, my son's father is Joseph Stabler." Sony admitted quietly. Olivia's jaw dropped. "I never told you that before?"

"No." Olivia almost shouted. People turned to them, stopping what they were doing.

Sonya looked around nervously before leaning closer to the brunette. "Olivia, don't make a scene."

Olivia scoffed. "Don't make a scene!" She ran a hand through her hair. "You just told me that your son is my husband's brother that he had no idea about. This so called son wasn't even mentioned in Joe's will."

"Joe didn't really know about him." Sonya seethed quietly. "I'd like to keep it from others too."

"Too late for that." Olivia huffed before grabbing her purse and heading out, knowing Cragen would call her to ask her why she left. And, he would understand, like he always did. She made her way out to her car, picking up Eli and Oliver, before heading home. Her mind wandered to Dickie and Summer and she realized Summer's appointment was done forty minutes ago. She was about to call Summer when she heard the front door close. "Hello?" It was only one in the afternoon. Dickie and Summer were going to go back to school. She went down the hallway and found Dickie at the front door. "Hey, why are you home? You still have school."

"Uh," Dickie started, but was cut off by the door being slammed upstairs. "We couldn't handle going back."

Olivia furrowed her eyebrows. "Why not?"

Dickie paused, tearing up. "Summer lost the baby."
