2013- May

Olivia woke up, her eyes irritated by the sunlight, in her daughter's room. Summer was cuddled into her side, clinging to her form. She stroked her daughter's hair as she stirred. "Summer, baby, we should get up."

Summer groaned and turned away from her mother, cuddling into the oddly large pillow Olivia didn't remember getting. "I don't want to get up. I just want to sleep."

"If we don't get up, your brothers are going to come in here." Olivia pointed out, rubbing her daughter's back.

"I don't care. Let them come in." Summer grumbled. She felt her mother wrap her arms around her. "When is Dad coming home?"

Olivia kissed her daughter's cheek. "Tomorrow." She cuddled into her daughter, resting her head against hers. "Are you going to tell him?"

Summer took her mother's arm, cuddling with it. "I don't know. Why give him the heartache?"

"Well, he's going to know something is up when he finds out you and William aren't dating anymore." Olivia whispered, brushing Summer's hair out of her eyes.

Summer opened her eyes. "Yeah, I know."

The next day, they picked up Elliot and brought him home. They all sat in the living room, talking, laughing. "So, is there anything coming up that I should know about?" Elliot asked, rubbing Olivia's knee.

"Well, I'm graduating a week from Saturday." Dickie grinned. "The graduation party is this weekend."

"My eighth grade recognition is a week after Dickie's graduation." Kendle said from his bean bag chair. "I'll be in high school next year!"

"Yes, and Eli and Oliver start kindergarten next year. They'll be going to school full time now." Olivia smiled looking the twins sitting on the floor. "Summer is going for her permit next week."

Elliot grinned. "That can't be right." He looked at his daughter. "You can not be that old already."

Summer smirked. "I'm younger than you." She chuckled when his jaw dropped. "Don't worry, Daddy. My classmates are still jealous of you because you are married to Mom."

"Alright!" Elliot smiled while nodding. "Wait, the guys in your class want your mother?" The kids just laughed as they all got up, heading to their rooms so he could have time with Olivia. He watched as they all headed up that stairs or down to the basement. He turned to Olivia and pecked her lips. "I guess high schoolers find you hot."

"Good, a sexy cop is a major turn on. I should know." Olivia winked at him. She cuddled into his side, sighing contently when his arm wrapped around her. "You've missed a lot around here."

"Like what?" Elliot asked, resting his chin on top of her head.

Olivia started rubbing his torso. "Well, Sonya Paxton claims to have a son that is also your father's."

Elliot pulled away slightly to look her in the eyes. "Seriously? She's pulling that bullshit?" He thought back to the first time he met her when she was Summer's lawyer. She did ask about his father. She was very uncomfortable when Elliot told her he was Joseph's son. "I can't believe her."

"Yeah, she told me in the middle of the squad room last month." Olivia sighed, looking up at him with her head on his shoulder. "Uh, Dickie and Carmela are dating again. But, they could be broken up. The way things go in high school, I can't keep up." Elliot chuckled at her. "Summer and William broke up."

Elliot's eyebrows furrowed. "Really? I thought you and Casey would have kept them together so you could have grandchildren together. Why'd they break up?" He asked looking down into his wife's brown eyes.

"If you really want to find out, you should ask your daughter." Olivia breathed, staring back into her husband's blue eyes. "It's hers to tell, and... I honestly don't think I could get through the details."

"Why? What'd he do to her? What'd that little-" Elliot started, getting furious at the thought of William hurting Summer.

"Elliot, talk to your daughter." Olivia interrupted him. She cupped his face in her hands and pecked his lips. "I'll talk the twins for a walk while you talk to your daughter. I love you."

Elliot dropped his forehead to hers and pulled her close. "I love you too." He kissed her nose before she got up and went upstairs to get the twins from their room. After they left to go to the park down the street, Elliot went to the bottom of the staircase. "Summer, baby, can I talk to you please."

Summer came down the hallway and bounded down the steps. "Yes, what's up?" She asked with a small smile. She leaned against the railing, looking at her father.

"Why did you and William break up?" Elliot asked right away, getting his question out there. He visibly saw her face pale the slightest bit and her posture became more rigid.

"Uh, it was just a stupid little thing." Summer said, trying to blow off the conversation without crying. "Do you want to watch a movie?"

Elliot put his hands on his daughter's shoulders, stopping her from going any further. "Sweetie, I want to know. What did he do?"

Summer rolled her eyes. "He didn't do anything."

"So, he broke up with you?" Elliot asked, confusion starting to take over.

"No, I broke up with him." Summer said, crossing her arms over her chest. She put on a fake smile. "Look, I really don't want to talk about this."

"Well, soldier, I want to know what's going on with you. I'm gone for half of the year, more than that actually. You grow up on me and I want to know what's going on. I love you." Elliot sighed, rubbing her arms.

Summer took a deep breath. "I just... couldn't be with him. I love him, but I can't be with him." She turned to go back upstairs, but her father turned her around.

"What do you mean? Are you getting your mother's relationship cold feet? Every time things get serious, you want to run away?" Elliot asked, wondering if his daughter was running away from something that could be the real deal.

Summer lifted up her arms, moving his from her. "No, I just can't be with him." She was getting irritated with the twenty questions game.

Elliot was getting frustrated as well. "Will you just tell me what happened?!"

Summer blew. "I can't date him because he makes me think about our baby!" She saw the shock cross her father's face. "I got pregnant in December, but I lost the baby in April, two days before Billy's eighteenth birthday. I can't look at him... or talk about him... without thinking of our baby." She teared up, feeling the familiar ache in her heart that had been there for the past month. She ran up the stairs, rushing into her room and slamming the door shut when she felt the first sob force its way out of her.

Elliot felt his whole world turn upside down. His daughter had been pregnant. She had lost a baby. William... "William!" Elliot nearly growled. How could he do that to his daughter. She was just a baby herself. She couldn't have a baby on her plate right now. She shouldn't have a boyfriend on her plate right now. But,... she wasn't going to have a baby. She faced, yet, another thing he hadn't had to experience. He hurried upstairs and went to her bedroom door. "Summer?... Murmur, open the door please." He could hear her sobbing on the other side of the door, almost violently. He felt his heart break a little bit. "Soldier... please?"

The door swung open. Elliot saw his daughter's tear stained face and puffy eyes before he enveloped her in a hug. She was nearly shaking in his arms. She hid her face in his chest. Elliot's voice became strangled as he fought off his own tears, trying to stay strong for her. "Shhh, honey, it's okay."

"I'm sorry." Summer choked out through sobs. He hugged her tighter and kissed her head. When she had calmed enough to speak clearly, he found out that only Dickie, Kendle, and Olivia knew about the baby besides William, Fin, and Casey. Nobody else was told and nobody else needed to be. The kids at school thought that Summer had the flu and that William and her split mutually since Dickie still hung out with William. He held her until Olivia and the boys came home. She brought news home that Rebecca was twelve weeks pregnant with her first child with Josh.

August

Olivia sat in the living room with Summer as they watched The Nanny marathon that was on TV land. They both smiled when they saw Elliot come downstairs, but frowned when they saw him breathing weirdly and gripping his sides. "El, honey, what's wrong?"

"I feel like there's glass shard cutting through... my spleen!" Elliot groaned, bending over as another pain ripped through his stomach.

"Baby, where does it hurt?" Olivia asked, hurrying over to her husband. She put a comforting hand on Elliot's back.

Elliot took a deep breath. "Everywhere."

Olivia nodded once. "Okay, Summer, call Alex and tell her to come down here. I'm going to take your father to the hospital."

"Liv, honey, I'm fi-" Elliot started but cried out when the pain doubled. "Sweet peaches and cream!"

"You are not fine." Olivia argued, taking his arm and leading him to their garage. "I will call you when we find out what's going on." After helping Elliot into the car, she drove to a nearby clinic that was convenient. They got into a room and Elliot was still in pain. The doctor came into the room with the test results. "Hey doc, what's going on?"

The doctor sighed. "I'm afraid your husband has kidney stones."

Elliot scoffed. "Kidney stones? I do not have kidney stones." He felt another pain. "Holy sh-" Olivia covered his mouth to keep him from swearing in front of the doctor.

"What are you wanting to do?" Olivia asked.

"Well, we'd like for him to try and pass it." The doctor said, looking at Elliot. Elliot groaned, hating the thought of passing a kidney stone. He heard it was worse than child birth. He looked at Olivia, knowing that she knew this too.

She smirked down at him. "Don't say a word." He warned. She just chuckled and rubbed his back.

October

Elliot kissed Olivia's cheek. "I will see you in May, okay? This is my last term." Olivia nodded, tears in her eyes. "I've come back every other time, baby. I'll be fine."

"I know you will." Olivia breathed, clinging to his collar. She kissed his chest. "I love you. Come back in one piece, like always."

"I will. John will call you when he drops me off. Tell me how his and Alex's wedding turns out." Elliot smiled lightly before kissing her lips. "Love you too." With that, he headed out the door, getting into John's car.

"My marine." Olivia breathed with a small smile. "My marine."
