2014-June
Elliot walked into the kitchen to find Olivia hugging Summer. He furrowed his eyebrows until he remembered that that William left this morning. She stayed over at Fin and Casey's so she could say goodbye with them. William was going for a short term of training so he'd be back by the beginning of October. He looked at Olivia when they pulled apart; she was smiling. "What's going on?" He asked, making his presence known.
Both of them turned to him, smiling with tears in their eyes. Summer held up her left hand. "Billy proposed!" She smiled, jumping up and down on her toes. She hugged Elliot tightly as the words tried to make their way into his brain. "We're getting married!"
"You're getting married?" Elliot breathed in a question, looking into his daughter's eyes. She nodded with the biggest grin he had ever seen on her. "Dickie and now you? I can't lose two kids in one year."
"Daddy, you're not going to lose me." Summer said comforting him. "Billy and I are going to plan something small for this October, before he goes overseas. I'll be here until he's back for good." She kissed his cheek. "You won't be losing me for a while." Patting his chest, she ran into the living room, heading for the stairs. "DICKIE!"
Olivia chuckled, going over to her husband. She draped her arm over his shoulder while her other hand rested on his chest. She pecked his lips, looking up at him. "You have no idea how impressed I am right now. You handled that really well."
Elliot shook his head, looking down at his wife. "She is not getting married."
Olivia groaned. "Elliot-"
"No! She is only sixteen! She can't get married." Elliot growled angrily. He went to go after Summer when Olivia pulled him back.
"Elliot! She is going to be seventeen when they get married. William will be nineteen. El, I was Summer's age when we got married." Olivia pointed out.
"Yeah, but I didn't break your heart by getting you pregnant, only for the baby to die." Elliot gritted out between clenched teeth, tears in his eyes. The topic of his daughter's baby still brought up the emotions of him losing his grandchild.
Olivia's eyes widened. "El, that is not William's fault. And, we didn't exactly wait either. I'm surprised we didn't end up pregnant before we got married." She cupped his face in her hands. "He makes her happy in so many ways, El. You weren't here when she faced the heartbreak of not having him. You didn't see that pain. They've been dating a lot longer than we ever did." She teared up looking into his eyes. "You know he's perfect for her. You just don't want to lose your little girl."
Elliot huffed out a breath and sat down on the barstool, bringing her into his lap. "Maybe your right." He saw her glare at him. "Okay, you are right. I just... I thought I'd have more time with her. The past couple of years, I've been gone for months at a time. Now, she's a junior and she is getting married."
"Yeah, I know. It's a lot to take in." Olivia nodded, stroking his thin hair. "But, I've talked with her. William really wants to do what he is doing. She and William both agreed that she'd stay with us until he was done and was ready to get a real job here. El, we are going to get more time with her than we both thought. To save money, she's going to stay here while going to college in the city. You'll get more time with her than you ever imagined you would." She dropped her forehead to his. "If we say no, what do you think she'll do? We already knew what we were going to pack if your parents said no to us. You and I had a plan to go to Vegas and become black jack dealers."
Elliot chuckled. "I wanted you to become a dancer." Olivia giggled, holding him closer to her. "You told me if anybody was dancing, it would be me."
"Well, how attractive would a eight month pregnant woman look like dancing up on stage?" Olivia asked with a smile. "I was pregnant five times, El. Stretch marks are not very attractive." She raised an eyebrow at him.
"I thought you looked hot pregnant." Elliot grinned, nuzzling his nose in her neck. "When I looked at you, I knew that you were carrying a human being that was both of ours. I loved it."
"Good, I am glad I didn't disgust you with my eating habits." Olivia laughed, leaning into him. She sighed in contentment when he held her tighter to him, resting his head on hers. "Your daughter is going to have a loving husband and loving marriage just like ours, El. I know you don't want to take that away from her."
Elliot kissed her forehead. "Yeah, I know I don't." He let his mind wander to the idea of his daughter getting married. "Crap!"
Olivia furrowed her eyebrows, looking up at him. "What?"
"I have to pay for the wedding." Elliot groaned, making Olivia's head fall back in laughter.
