Please review! You guys are great!
2014- August
"Happy birthday Dickie!" Olivia smiled, on the phone with her son. "How's my favorite nineteen year old?"
Dickie chuckled. "I'm fine, Mom. How's it going at home?" He asked as he pulled on his jeans, getting ready for class.
"Well, we are busy planning your sister's wedding. No help from you!" Olivia chuckled into the phone. "You are the best man. You should be helping William do something."
Dickie rolled his eyes. "William is overseas. He can't help the wedding a whole lot. Besides, I offered to go help test out cakes with Summer. She said I could tag along."
Olivia shook her head. "Oh yeah, take the fun job." She leaned against the kitchen counter, folding her free arm over her stomach. "Just think, you'll be getting married around this time next year."
"Yeah, I'm excited. Carmela and I are taking a weekend here soon to reserve a church. She said I could pick the band because she knows that I am going to pick William, Summer, and Kendle to play at the wedding."
"Well, I think your sister would be happy to do that as long as you get good food at the reception." Olivia laughed. She looked up to find Elliot walked in carrying Oliver, Eli holding his hand. Elliot was yawning. Oliver was resting on Elliot's shoulder. Eli was rubbing his eye with his free hand.
Dickie laughed. "Well, thanks for the birthday call. I have to go to math class. It's my most important class since I want to be a math teacher."
Olivia chuckled. "I still can't believe you want to be a math teacher. I'll talk to you later babe. Be safe. Love you."
"Love you too, Mom." Dickie said before hanging up.
Olivia put her phone in her pocket before looking back at her husband and twin boys. They were sitting at the counter, staring at her. "Are you guys tired or something?"
"You didn't have nightmare duty last night." Elliot said, cocking his head to the side. "Eli had a nightmare, came in and got me, since it was, according to you, my turn. So, I set up a blanket bed on the floor and ended up waking up Oliver. Long story short, I had to put two boys to sleep."
"That story was short?" Olivia asked chuckling. She went around the counter and kissed his cheek. "I have had to deal with stuff like that every time you were gone." She hugged him from behind. "I love you, but I gotta go to work. Make sure the kids get up before nine. Next week is school and they need to be getting back into their schedules."
"Love you." Elliot grumbled, rubbing his face. He heard the front door close and looked at the clock. It was quarter after seven. "What the heck? Why are we up?" He looked at his sons and found them both sleeping, their heads resting on the counters. "Well, why am I awake?" He picked up both of them and laid them down on the living room couch before resting in his recliner. He closed his eyes just as he heard a door upstairs open. He looked up to find Summer dressed, fully awake, and on her phone. She trotted down the stairs and walked passed him. "Hey." She turned to him, surprised to find him awake. "How are you awake?"
Summer chuckled and kissed his cheek. "I go to bed a reasonable hour." She stood up and started heading for the kitchen. "I have to go get my dress fitted today. I wanted to get it done before school started and I've been pushing it off. Once school starts, I am going to be busier than ever." She grabbed a coffee mug and filled it with orange juice. "Kendle and Kenny are going to go with me. We are going to go see a movie afterwards."
Elliot stood up, following his daughter into the kitchen. "So, it's just Zack, Oliver, Eli, and I today?"
"Yes, it's just you guys." Summer smiled, grabbing her car keys from the small key basket on the counter. "If you want, you guys can meet us up for lunch. Or, Mom would probably like a surprise visit. Dickie and I used to pop in on her all the time. If she wasn't there, Cragen or John usually talked with us until Mom came."
Elliot scratched his jaw. "I don't know." He shook his head. "I haven't been there since I turned in my papers. The last time I was there was when I shot Jenna."
"I know." Summer nodded once and gave her father a sad smile. "We all have to come to terms with things at some point." She hugged her father. "Love you. I'll see you this afternoon." With that, she left.
Later, Elliot was standing in the elevator. Zack was watching his two little brothers play thumb wrestling as they waited for the elevator doors to open. He could tell his father was nervous. The tension coming off of him made him nervous. "Dad, are you going to be okay?"
Elliot turned to his son and nodded once. "I should be." The doors opened. "Come on. If your mother is here, she will be happy to see us." They walked down the hallway towards the squad room. His heart was pounding in his chest. As they rounded into the squad room, he saw his wife sitting at her desk doing paperwork. Nick was sitting across from her, working on his computer. He saw Fin and Amanda getting coffee.
"Mommy!" Oliver smiled, running over to Olivia.
Olivia looked up to find her family standing in the squad room. She picked up Oliver and put him in her lap. "Hey Oliver! What are you doing here?" She asked with a smile.
"We came to say hi." Oliver said leaning back into Olivia's arms, playing with the toy car he had in his hands.
"We came to see if you would like to go out for lunch." Elliot chuckled, seeing his son already cozying up to Olivia.
Olivia smiled. "How sweet! I would love to go out for lunch. I need something other than Chinese food and burgers." She chuckled when she heard Nick snicker. She stood up and pecked Elliot's lips. "Are you okay?"
Elliot looked around the squad room before looking into her eyes. "As long as I'm with you, I am more than okay." He kissed her forehead before they left for lunch.

Elliot sat in the chair, his foot bouncing on the floor. He was nervous. He was staring at the weird carpet pattern of the church hallway and the light blue walls. He could hear women laughing on the other side of the door he was about to knock on. He took a deep breath and tapped the door. "It's time."
"You can come in, El." He heard Olivia say. He opened the door and lost his breath. Summer stood in front of him in a strapless white dress that went to the floor. The bodice fitted her until her waist, the fabric of the dress flowing around her figure. There was a small train to her dress. Her hair was down and curled, halfway down her back. Her bangs were pulled back with a small tiara that was jewel encrusted.
"Hey Daddy." Summer smiled, tears already pooling in her eyes.
Elliot grinned at her before going over. "You look beautiful." He breathed before kissing her forehead. He could already feel the tears building up in the back of his eyes. Slowly, he took her hand into his as they followed the other bridesmaids down the hallway. "Are you nervous?"
Summer nodded. "A little, but... I'm excited." She looked up at him and smiled. "You're not going to lose me, ever, you know that, right?"
Elliot looked into those blue eyes and grinned. He remembered the first time he held her in the hospital. She was only five pounds and hardly opened her eyes. There were the nights when she would keep Olivia and him awake because she couldn't sleep. The first steps she took, the first words she spoke, the first breath she took... "I know." He leaned over and kissed her forehead again, pulling her closer to him. "Do you want to know what I'm thinking about?"
"Sure." Summer chuckled.
"I am thinking of the night you were born. Your mother wanted me to help her push when we were in the delivery room. In that moment, I wondered 'how the hell am I supposed to help her'. All I could do was encourage her to keep pushing. Well, good thing that I did because I ended up with the best daughter I could've ever asked for." Elliot smiled and looked down at his daughter. She smiled up at him with tears in her eyes. "You were born and I was wrapped around your little finger. You were so tiny. It wasn't long after when you had your surgery. Signing those papers, allowing Dr. Lucas to do the surgery, was the hardest thing, I thought, I'd ever have to do. Now, I realize I was wrong. That was the second hardest thing. The thing at the top of my list is going to be giving you away today."
They stopped, waiting for the bridesmaids to take their turn walking down the isle. Summer looked up at him before wrapping her arms around his neck in a hug. "I love you, Daddy."
"I love you too, Murmur." Elliot breathed, holding her tightly. He opened his eyes to find it was their turn. "C'mon, your soon to be husband is waiting." He smiled lightly, holding out his arm for her. She took it before they started down the isle. He looked from his daughter to William and saw the love that he saw in Olivia's eyes. His daughter was in good hands.
Please review! Love you guys! Today was my last performance of Law & Order: Nursery Rhymes Unit. Kind of sad, but I had a lot of fun! I got closer with some of my friends and made some new ones! My English teachers made it possible for us.
