2015-January
Olivia smiled seeing her husband play video games with her sons. Casey, Fin, Alex, and John had been there earlier, celebrating the new coming year. William had left two weeks earlier for his first real term. The whole family said goodbye at Elliot and Olivia's house before Summer took him to the base where he would be taken to his next stop. The sky was pitch black and basically every light in the living room and kitchen was on. "Liv, baby, why don't you come and join us? You worked too much today."
"Really? You are going to acknowledge that I did a lot of work today when I told you to come and help?" Olivia asked with a smirk. She turned off the kitchen light before walking up behind the couch. "Where is our loving daughter?"
Elliot looked around and pointed upstairs. "I think she said she was going to call Carmela about something for the wedding." He shrugged. "Today has been too busy to really keep track of everyone."
Olivia chuckled. "We have six kids and you can't even keep track of the one that's not in the room with you?" She kissed his cheek and patted his back. "I'll go get her. You guys, turn off the games. We can watch a movie or something. But, Summer and I are not watching you play football or shoot zombies on there." She hurried up the stairs as her sons groaned. She walked down the hallway and entered Summer's room.
Summer was sitting on her window bench, looking out the window and the road below. The street lights lit up the streets. A few houses had their lights on, but each was slowly turning dark. "Hey."
Summer turned to see her mother and smiled lightly. "Hey." She looked back out the window as Olivia came over.
"What are you doing up here all by yourself? The whole family is downstairs." Olivia asked with a hint of a smile. She picked up her daughter's legs and sat down before placing them in her lap. "What's wrong?"
"Who said anything was wrong?" Summer asked, leaning against the wall behind her.
"Murmur, you only come up here and sit on this bench when something is bothering you." Olivia reminded her. "I've known this since you were two and your father wouldn't let you have cookies and ice cream everyday."
Summer chuckled and ran a hand through her hair. She looked out at the houses before looking back at her mother. "I just miss Billy. That's all. We got married two months ago and he's going to be gone for the next nine." She shook her head. "I just don't like the idea of it."
Olivia nodded. "Yeah, I didn't like the feeling when your father left for months at a time. He knows that he missed out on a lot with you guys. But, he's trying to make up for it now." She leaned forward and tucked her daughter's hair behind her ear. "C'mon, let's go watch a movie. Your father got a ton for Christmas."
"Hey Mom?" Summer started as her mother started heading for her bedroom door.
"Yeah?" Olivia asked, stopping as she turned to her daughter.
"I have something to tell you and, I mean it this time, you cannot get mad." Summer said, standing up from the bench.
Olivia paused before her eyes widened. "The last time you told me that you-"
"Got pregnant, yeah." Summer nodded before holding up the small white stick in her hand. "I'm pregnant."
Olivia's jaw dropped before she went over to her daughter and looked at the stick. Sure enough, it was that familiar positive sign that she had seen five times before. "Oh my God!" She looked at her daughter to find her smiling. Olivia grinned at her. "I bet you are a lot more happy about this pregnancy than the last one."
Summer chuckled. "Yeah." She teared up. "I'm so happy. I can't even describe this feeling."
"Congrats!" Olivia smiled before hugging her daughter. She held her tight. "I can't believe you are going to be a mom."
"What about you? You are going to be a grandma." Summer grinned. She sniffled before chuckling. "I can't wait to tell Billy. The only thing I'm worried about is that Billy isn't going to be home in time for the birth."
"Oh yeah." Olivia breathed. "He'll be cutting it close. That's for sure." She kissed her daughter's forehead before hugging her again. "I love you, Murmur."
"I love you too." Summer smiled into her mother's shoulder. They pulled back and couldn't help but giggle at the fact that their was a new life being created. "I wonder how Dad will take it."
Olivia looked towards Summer's bedroom door, knowing the family was on the other side downstairs. "I don't know how he'll take it. He knows that this is a good thing, but he may not show it."
Summer nodded. "Yeah, I know that." She smiled lightly and put a hand on her stomach. "I'm going to go tell him."
"How are you going to tell him?" Olivia asked as they went to her door.
Summer shrugged. "I'll wing it." With that, she opened her door and walked towards the stairs. Olivia shook her head chuckling. Summer jogged down the stairs, seeing her father stretch in front of the couch. "Hey Dad, can I talk to you in the kitchen please?"
Elliot looked at Summer before looking at Olivia. She smiled at him. He looked back at Summer. "Sure baby." He followed her into the kitchen and watched as she took his hands and sat him down at the small dining room table. "Now, I have some pretty big news."
"What is it?" Elliot asked, looking up at his daughter. He could see a familiar light in her eyes that he often saw in Olivia's when she was really happy. "C'mon, baby, tell me."
"Uh, okay." Summer breathed before running a hand through her hair. She pulled a barstool up to her father's chair and sat down. He took her hands in his and squeezed, silently telling her everything was going to be okay. She smiled lightly. "I don't exactly know how to tell you this. Uh, you know how happy you were when you found out Mom was pregnant with Eli and Oliver."
"I was that happy with all the pregnancies." Elliot grinned. "Especially yours. Your mom and I tried for months before she got pregnant. The rest of your brothers are surprises."
Summer laughed and rubbed the backs of her father's hands with her thumbs. "Well, William and I have our own little surprise." She waited until her father caught on.
Elliot's eyes widened as his jaw dropped in a smile. "You're pregnant?" Summer nodded with a smile and tears in her eyes. He stood up and wrapped his arms around her before kissing her head. "I can't believe it."
"I can't either." Summer breathed into his chest.
Elliot kissed her head again and pulled back, cupping her face. "You know I love you, right?" Summer nodded before he pulled her back to his chest. "Good, cause I am going to love this little one just the same."
