2015- June
"It's too hot!" Summer complained, plopping onto the couch next to her mother. She looked down at her five month baby bump and sighed. "Why do you do this to me? I'm keeping you safe and you just make me uncomfortable."
Olivia laughed at her daughter and kissed her head. "I faced a summer with all of my pregnancies. Dickie, Kendle, and Zack were the worst. I had the last three months during the hottest months of the year. You are lucky."
"I guess." Summer mumbled, trying to sit comfortably.
Olivia chuckled at her daughter and handed her a pillow. "Put that behind your back. It does wonders." She did as her mother told her and moaned when she relaxed against the pillow. "I'll take my thank you now." Summer chuckled before Elliot came into the house. "Hey El!"
"Hey baby!" Elliot smiled, kissing her head. He looked at his daughter and grinned. "How's my daughter and grandchild doing?"
"We are hot." Summer said, propping her feet up on the coffee table. "At least, I don't have to go to school like this. I'd be sweating through my clothes."
Elliot chuckled. "There's a mental picture. You still are going to have the last two months of pregnancy in school. How are the kids treating you?"
Summer smiled. "Well, the volleyball team is throwing me a baby shower in late August. Since William and Dickie were good football and basketball players, they are all kind of excited to see this baby. And, Carmela and I are going to take lamaze classes together."
"Wow, even you and Carmela manipulate your pregnancies to do something together." Elliot chuckled before kissing her head. He looked at Olivia. "Did Kendle get the mail?"
"It's Sunday. The mail doesn't come today. So, no." Olivia grinned before turning back to the magazine she was looking at. She tilted the magazine to her daughter. "Look at those tiny little shoes we could get your baby." Summer smiled seeing the little blue sneakers with white laces.
Elliot came out of the kitchen with a pile of mail from the counter. "Are you sure he didn't get the mail today?"
Summer took the mail from him as Olivia looked up at him. "I am sure. We don't go through the mail everyday." She pulled on his hand. "Why don't you call DJ and hang out with him for a while? You seem restless."
"I could do that. I guess." Elliot nodded before looking at his daughter. She had opened up a letter and was staring at it with her jaw dropped. "Summer, baby, what is that?"
"Uh," She looked up at him before looking back at the letter. "Someone is following me."
"What?" Olivia asked, taking the letter. Elliot looked over her shoulder to look at it. A picture of Summer was with a handwritten letter. The picture had to have been taken in the past two weeks. The letter said: I am watching you. Your husband better be lucky I don't get his hands on him. That should be my baby.
Summer was tearing up. "It's him, isn't it? It's Mike."
Elliot hugged his daughter. "It couldn't be him. He is going to be in prison for sixteen more years."
"He could have friends on the outside. What happens when he gets out? I still have those nightmares!" Summer choked out, wiping her eyes.
Elliot cupped her face in his hands. "We'll figure this out, okay?" He looked at Olivia.
Olivia looked down at the letter and shook her head. This guy wasn't going to mess with her daughter anymore. "Let's take this down to the precinct. If Mike is behind this, his fingerprints are bound to be on this." She kissed her daughter's forehead. "We'll get him this time. Okay? We're going to make sure he goes away for so long, he can't ever hurt you if he gets out."
After getting into the car, they hurried to the city to get the letter and envelope tested. They were waiting in the squad room, everyone fawning over Summer. Amanda and Fin were talking with her when Melinda entered the squad room. Elliot hurried to her with Olivia close behind him. "Well?"
"It was Mike's DNA on the letter and envelope. I got another hit on the photo." Melinda informed them before showing them a picture of a different guy. "This is Julian Vascar. He was Mike's bunkmate for the past five years. He got out two months ago."
"And, now he is helping Mike terrorize my daughter." Olivia gritted out, taking the photo. "I am going to call Rikers and tell them to put Mike in solitary until Barba can charge him."
Barba and Cragen came out of his office. "We already did those things and you cannot have anything to do with this case." Barba informed her, holding his briefcase in both his hands.
"She's my daughter." Olivia argued.
"And, this is my case. If you work it, Mike is going to slide out of this and your daughter won't get justice for this either. I read the last case and Mike should've been up for the death penalty. I understand your protectiveness for your daughter. She's been through a lot, but... we need to do this by the book if we want this to stick." Barba said gently.
Cragen looked at his best detective. "Liv, put the phone down." He watched as her eyes darted to him before looking back at Barba. She slowly put the phone back before Summer came over from talking with Amanda and Fin.
"Mom, is everything okay?" Summer asked, seeing her mother's famous death glare she often sent to her father when he did something stupid.
Olivia's face softened before she looked at Summer. "Yeah, we were just talking about your case. We already charged Mike and we are trying to find his accomplice."
"So, it was Mike?" Summer breathed. "I figured. I was just hoping..."
"Baby, we're going to get him." Olivia said, trying to comfort her daughter. She had no idea what she was going through. She rubbed Summer's back, kissing her temple.
Summer nodded. "Yeah, we got Barba. He doesn't give up on a case." She paused, looking at Barba's briefcase. "Is my old case file in there?"
Barba looked down at his briefcase and nodded. "Yeah, it helps build the case."
"Can I look at it?" Summer asked.
"Murmur-" Elliot started.
"Daddy, if this is going to be waved in court, I am going to find out about it sooner or later." Summer informed him, staring at Barba. "I deserve to know what he did to me."
Barba looked at Elliot and Olivia before looking at Summer. He put his briefcase on Olivia's desk before popping it open. He handed her the thick file. "I can't leave without that."
"I won't be long." Summer breathed before heading for the cribs.
Olivia sighed and put a hand on Elliot's chest. "I'm going to wait outside in case she needs one of us." Elliot nodded, watching as she hurried off to be there for their daughter. He turned to Barba. "How could you give her the file?"
"She was right. She deserved to know what happened to her. And, between the defense and I, that case is going to be broadcasted throughout that court room again. It will be better if she knows a head of time, before everybody else finds out." Barba explained to Elliot. "I know she's your daughter. She needs this."
Elliot's eyes widened. "She does not need to know every sick detail of what the pervert did to her. She does not need to know how he violated her and how he raped her, over and over again." He teared up. "She couldn't handle it the first time. What's going to help this time around? She still has nightmares about him."
Cragen stepped forward. "Elliot, she was three the first time this happened. Actually, she wasn't even three when this all went down."
"Yeah, and now she's seventeen and pregnant. There's a lot of changes, but nothing makes this easier or better." Elliot said, rubbing a hand down his face. He looked towards the cribs. "She needed me last time and I was there. She's going to need me this time and I'm going to be here." He looked at Barba and pointed at him. "You better nail this prick." He hurried through the hallways to the cribs. He found Olivia hugging their daughter, her sobs filled the empty hallway. "Summer?"
Summer looked up to see her father. "Daddy." She choked out before going into his open arms. He wrapped his arms around her, cupping the back of her head as she sobbed into his chest.
"I've got you." Elliot breathed before kissing her head. "This will be over soon. I promise."
August
"Well, this sucks. I have my brother's wedding one day and court the next. Plus, junior can't find anything, besides my bladder, to kick." Summer grumbled as they entered the court room. People were gathering and she could tell they were about to bring out Mike. "I might be sick."
Elliot put a hand on the back of her neck and kissed her head. "I'm going to be right next to you, okay? Barba talked to the defense attorney. You are not going on the stand at all. You can do this."
Summer took a deep breath. "Is he testifying?"
"I don't know if he is." Elliot sighed before Olivia came up to them. "Hey."
"Hey." Olivia breathed before looking at her daughter. "Don't let him get to you, okay? He can't hurt you now." Summer nodded. "Okay, let's sit down. Your feet must be killing you."
Summer nodded as they sat down behind Barba. "In these shoes, hell yeah." She already knew her back was going to hurt because of the hard bench. She smiled up at her father when he wrapped an arm around her, cushioning her back from the bench. "Thank you." Elliot smiled at her and kissed her head.
Just then, the bailiff brought out Mike. He had cropped black hair and a mustache. His hands were cuffed together as he sat down in his orange jump suit. When they sat him down, they didn't take off the cuffs. He turned in his chair and stared at Summer. He smiled lightly and waved. Elliot turned in his seat, blocking Summer from Mike's view. He pulled Summer closer to him and kissed her head again. "I'm never going to let him hurt you again." He breathed into her hair.
October
Summer and Carmela were sitting in the living room, watching a TV show. A commercial came up that made them both cry. Summer was due any day now and Carmela wasn't due for another month. William was supposed to come back tomorrow. Elliot was on the phone with Cragen in the kitchen, Olivia looking at a magazine on the counter. "Thanks Cragen... Yeah, I guess I should start calling you that." He chuckled. "Bye." He hung up the phone and put it back on its cradle.
Olivia looked up at her husband and noticed his smile. "I'm guessing you heard good news about Mike's sentencing."
"That and so much more." Elliot grinned. "Mike gets another twenty years, but this time, they are all spent in solitary. We don't have to worry about him for a long time, baby. We won't have to talk about him for thirty-six years. Maybe longer if he dies."
"Wouldn't that be a plus?" Olivia agreed before smiling at his good mood. "What else did you and Cragen talk about?"
Elliot grinned at her. "Well, Cragen said that he was thinking about getting a new detective for the unit. Fin and John kind of want to be partners again."
Olivia groaned. "So, Amanda gets a newbie?"
"No, you do." Elliot chuckled. He watched as her jaw dropped. She was about to yell when he put a finger over her mouth. "The guys isn't new either."
"So, who is it?" Olivia asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
Elliot smirked. "It's Cassidy."
Olivia's eyes widened. "WHAT THE FU-" Elliot covered her mouth to stop her tyrant.
"Baby, baby, I'm messing with you. It's me." Elliot chuckled. He yelped when she bit his palm. "Hey, I just gave you good news. Why are you biting me?"
"That was for messing with me." Olivia chuckled before wrapping her arms around his neck. "So, you and I get to be partners again?"
Elliot nodded, kissing her lips sweetly. "Yep, you'll get to see me every hour of the day again." She moaned at the sound of that and kissed him again. "Is this your way of telling me your sorry for biting me?"
Olivia chuckled softly against him lips. "This is my way of telling you I want to do a lot more than biting." Elliot grinned before kissing her again. She moaned softly into his mouth before he pushed her against the counter. He grabbed her hips and lifted her onto it. She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer to her. His lips never left hers and she unbuttoned his shirt. When it hung from his frame, she pushed it off his shoulders, running her hands up and down his chest.
"OH MY GOD!" They heard two voices say at the same time. They both turned to find Carmela and Summer staring at them, frozen in their places. Summer had hand over her eyes while Carmela stood with a chip in one hand and another sticking out from between her lips.
Olivia blushed hard and hid her face in Elliot's chest, trying not to laugh. Elliot blushed, but looked at the girls. "What's up guys?" He asked, his voice cracking.
"Apparently you are." Carmela mumbled.
"Gross! That's my dad." Summer whined, turning her back to them. "We came in here to tell you that my water broke."
"What?" Elliot and Olivia asked, looking at her.
"She said her water broke! That means it's baby time. So, get your asses in the car and let's get going." Carmela said, clapping her hands together. She pointed towards the garage. "Let's go." She said, tugging Summer with her.
"Dad, can you get my bag from the living room." Summer said, still covering her eyes as they headed to the garage.
Olivia hurried towards the stairs. "I'll tell Kendle to call Sarah."
Elliot hurried and grabbed Summer's bag, taking it out to the car. She was going through a contraction when he got in. He started the car and then turned to the girls, waiting for Olivia to join them. "How are you doing?"
"Get me to the hospital." Summer breathed.
Carmela's eyes widened. "Oh my God!"
"What now?" Elliot asked, getting more and more stressed out.
Carmela put a hand on her back. "I think my water just broke also." She grabbed her phone and called Dickie. "Dickie, hi sweetie, can you get your butt out of bed and join us in the car? My water just broke. Love you." She hung up and ten seconds later, Olivia and Dickie joined them.
"Great, now you two share a water." Elliot chuckled before driving towards the city.
Please review! I know this chapter is longer, but there was a lot I wanted to fit in as you can see.
