2015-October

Elliot and Olivia sat with Summer in her room while Dickie and Carmela were across the hallway. Dr. Lucas had already been in and said that Summer's contractions were coming at a normal rate and that she should have the baby by the morning. He told them that Carmela's contractions were coming on very fast and that she might have the baby in the next couple of hours. Elliot held Summer's hand as she went through a contraction. "It's almost done, baby." Elliot breathed before kissing her head. He felt her relax and knew that the pain had subsided. "There, how bad are they?"

"I can take them." Summer nodded, leaning back into her mattress. She rubbed her stomach slowly before looking up at her parents. "Billy isn't going to see our baby be born."

"We don't know that. Your contractions may slow down. That's what happened when I had Kendle." Olivia said optimistically. She knew it wasn't a great chance, but it could still happen. "We will be here every step of the way, Murmur."

Summer smiled lightly. "I know you will." She looked up at the TV, seeing that the news was on. "Can we turn the channel? I'm already in enough pain. I don't need to hear reporters discredit you guys because you don't arrest someone quick enough."

Elliot grabbed the remote and turned it to a movie channel before putting the remote on the rolling tray that had a bucket of ice. "I'm going to go check on Carmela and Dickie." Summer and Olivia nodded at him before he went over. He walked in when Dickie was trying to figure out how to work the remote and Carmela was giving him the finger. He laughed, making their attention turn to him. "I can see that you're not in a lot of pain." He said walking over to Carmela.

"The only pain I have right now is Dickie. He won't let me show him how to use the remote." Carmela said rolling her eyes. She smiled when Elliot took her hand and squeezed it softly. "How's Summer doing?"

"She's doing good with pain, not so well with the fact that William may not be here when the baby is born." Elliot sighed. He kissed Carmela's head before DJ came in. "DJ!"

"Elliot!" DJ grinned before embracing him. "Man, I haven't seen you in a while."

Elliot nodded. "I know. We have to get together for Thanksgiving or Christmas."

DJ smiled. "I'll bring our favorite cheese if you get the summer sausage."

"Deal." Elliot grinned, shaking DJ's hand.

"Dear Lord, don't do your secret handshake or anything geeky like that." Carmela groaned. Dickie chuckled and sat down on the edge of the bed beside her.

"I wouldn't embarrass you that much when there's nobody else here." DJ smiled before kissing her head. "How you doing, squirt?"

Carmela smiled and rubbed her stomach. "I'd say I'm doing pretty good for being this close to delivery. Dr. Lucas is coming in every ten to fifteen minutes now."

Dickie kissed Carmela's hand. "We get to meet our baby soon." He smiled up at his dad. Elliot smiled back before they heard Dr. Lucas come in.

"Woah!" Carmela gasped, putting a hand on her stomach. She gripped Dickie's hand tightly as the contraction heightened in pain. Dr. Lucas looked at her charts.

"I'd say we're ready for delivery." Dr. Lucas smiled before a nurse came. The nurse started unhooking Carmela from the many machines in the room before unlocking the bed. The nurse and Dr. Lucas rolled the bed out to the hallway, Dickie helping along the way.

"Dickie!" Elliot called out. Dickie looked at him, still hurrying with the bed. "Good luck!" He smiled. Dickie grinned at him before they entered the elevator, heading for the delivery rooms.

DJ walked up beside him. "We're going to be grandpas soon, El."

Elliot smiled, still looking at the elevator. "I know." He felt his body go cold when he heard a woman's voice behind him.

"Was that Carmela, DJ?" Kathy asked, hurrying towards them.

"Yeah, it was." DJ said, turning towards her. Elliot slowly turned towards her, his eyes wide and his mouth drawn into a hard line.

Kathy looked at Elliot and smiled. "Hi Elliot! I haven't seen you in forever. How have you been?"

Elliot looked at DJ. DJ looked slightly amused and understanding, knowing Elliot didn't want to be anywhere near Kathy. "I think I'm going to go check on Summer." DJ nodded and patted Elliot's back before Elliot hurried into Summer's room.

Olivia laughed with her daughter after telling a story. "High school was dramatic for your father and I." She smiled, handing her daughter another glass of ice.

"It's dramatic for everyone, but not that dramatic." Summer chuckled, an ice cube clicking against her teeth. She groaned softly as another contraction hit her. "I can't believe you did this five times."

"Hey, I sometimes don't believe it either. Your father and I wanted to stop after Kendle, but... somewhere along the line we wanted more. Eli and Oliver were a complete surprise." Olivia smiled, looking down at her daughter's round belly. "When was the last time you talked to William?"

Summer panted as her contraction went away slowly, still leaving a burning pain. "Uh, last week on Thursday. He said he would be home tomorrow." That's when Elliot came in. "Hey Dad, how's Carmela doing?"

Elliot looked at his wife and daughter. "Dr. Lucas just took her up to a delivery room."

"Really?" Olivia asked excited that she was going to get a grandchild soon.

"Yeah, we also have another surprise." Elliot breathed, rubbing his forehead. Olivia furrowed her eyebrows. "The devil is here."

"She is Carmela's mother." Summer pointed out, taking another ice cube into her mouth.

Olivia huffed out a breath. "She just better stay away from my man." Summer chuckled before DJ came in, leaving Kathy in the hallway. "Hey DJ!"

"Hey Liv!" DJ smiled before kissing her cheek. He went over and kissed Summer's head before hugging her. "How are you doing? Elliot called me earlier saying that you and my daughter share a water now."

Summer smiled. "I'm doing okay. My contractions are still coming slowly. Dr. Lucas said it could be around five a.m. when I deliver. So, I have about four more hours to go if he's right."

"Well, since when are doctors right?" DJ asked with a smirk. Everyone laughed and continued to talk for a while before Kathy came in. "Hey Kath, what's up?"

"Uh, I'm going to head home." Kathy sighed with a yawn. "I have work in the morning. I'll stop by at my lunch break to see the baby." DJ hugged her. She looked at Elliot, Olivia, and Summer. "Bye guys."

Olivia waved with a grin on her face knowing that Kathy had to see her sitting on Elliot's lap. "Bye Kathy!" Elliot hid his face behind her and chuckled softly. Kathy left the room, her heels clicking down the hallway.

Summer smiled at her mother. "Jealous is not a good color on you, Mom." She inhaled sharply when a contraction took over.

DJ looked out to the hallway when they heard a bed rolling across the floor. He smiled seeing Carmela and Dickie come back to their room. The nurses took Carmela into her room before Dickie came in wearing scrubs and smiling. "Hey guys..." He breathed.

Everyone smiled at him. "Hey, how'd it go?"

"It went... beautifully." Dickie grinned, tears welling in his eyes. "You guys stay here. I'll bring the baby over." He left for a few moments and came back with the baby wrapped in a little pink blanket. "Guys, meet Hailee May Stabler. Born October 16th at 1:25." He looked down at his daughter. "She's a chubby little girl. She's almost eight pounds. I told Carmela all those chocolate bars wouldn't do her any favors." He slowly walked over to Summer when her contraction was over. "Now, Hailee, I know your aunt Summer doesn't look to great right now, but she will be the one giving you the most fashion tips. She's about to give you a cousin right now, so cut her some slack."

Summer chuckled before gently taking her niece. "Hey there little woman. I'm going to teach you all sorts of things. Your mommy and I are best friends and I'm your daddy's sister. So, there's no getting rid of me." She grinned before rubbing her little fist. "She's beautiful, Dickie." She breathed before looking up at her brother.

"Thanks!" Dickie breathed before looking at his sister. "How close are you to delivering?"

Summer exhaled slowly. "I have a few more hours to go. I was hoping I wouldn't deliver until Billy came back home." She smiled when Olivia gently took Hailee from her, not wanting to wait any longer.

"Yeah, William was hoping that too." Dickie sighed before pulling out his phone. "In fact, he called me a hour ago and asked me how everything was going and told me he'd be here as soon as he could. And,... he pulled through." He grinned before William came into the hospital room in a pair of sweat pants and a plain white t-shirt.

"Billy!" Summer gasped, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Hey baby." William smiled, tears already running down his cheeks. He walked over to her side and cupped her face before kissing her softly. He pressed forehead to hers, putting a hand on her stomach. "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too." Summer whispered, her tears flowing over now. She wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him as if her life depended on it. He sat down on the edge of the bed and wrapped an arm around her. She rested her head on his shoulder, linking their fingers together in her lap. Hailee was passed around to everyone until Dickie ended up with her again.

"I should probably bring her back." Dickie breathed, tucking the pink blanket around his daughter. "Mommy hasn't seen her as much. She was exhausted after delivery."

Olivia smiled at her son. "You would be too if you had to push a human being out of your body." Elliot chuckled softly at her and kissed her head as he stood beside her. Dickie grinned at his mother before going across the hall to see his wife. Olivia looked at her daughter and smiled seeing how much more relaxed she looked now that William was here. She almost shocked herself realizing that her daughter was, in fact, having a baby. She still remembered Summer's birth plain as day.

DJ stood up and waved at everyone with a smile. "I think I'm going to go say hi to Carmela and then head out. I'll see you guys tomorrow." He said pointing to William and Summer."

"Always nice seeing you DJ." William smiled before kissing Summer's head. DJ left the room, leaving the four of them.

"Kendle and Zack are going to be excited to see you." Summer murmured looking up at him. "Zack gave up his room for his new little niece or nephew."

"Well, he gave up his room for Dickie's old one which is bigger." Elliot grinned. "Summer decorated the whole nursery. She's the only one that knows the sex of the baby. We haven't gone in that room for five months now."

William grinned, his lips skimming Summer's head. "I know what we're having. She sent me pictures of the room." He kissed her temple and rubbed her belly, feeling his baby move.

Elliot smiled and took Olivia's hand. She stood up and let him sit down before he pulled her into his lap. She cuddled into him, bringing her legs up onto the armrest of the chair. "Did you know your mother was born in this hospital?" Elliot asked, rubbing Olivia's back.

"That's why we chose it." Summer smiled, looking at her parents. "Dr. Lucas looked at Mom's birth records and reserved the same delivery room for us."

"Really?" Olivia asked with a grin. She watched as her daughter nodded with a smile. "You are the sweetest."

A few hours later, Dr. Lucas came in to check on Summer and smiled at her. "I think we're ready for delivery."

Elliot and Olivia stood back as another nurse came in and helped get Summer's bed unhooked and unlocked. William held her hand the whole time since she was gripping it. She was breathing deeply as she smiled up at her parents. Elliot and Olivia grinned at her and followed them into the hallway and into the elevator. The went up one floor before hurrying out to let them through to the delivery room. "We're getting another grandchild." He breathed.

Olivia nodded beside him, linking her fingers with his. "Yeah, we are." She looked up at him as he looked back at her. He pulled her to and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her head as her arms wound around his back. Her hands rested on his shoulders. "I love you, El."

"I love you too." Elliot breathed into her hair.

Forty-five minutes later, they were still waiting for news on Summer. Elliot and Olivia were both sitting on the bench outside of the delivery room. He had his arm wrapped around her, her head resting on his shoulder. His other hand held hers, playing with her fingers to help distract him from what could happen in the room next to them. One moment they were focused on each other; the next, they hear a small cry come from the delivery room. Exactly two minutes later, William came out holding the baby. "You guys have a grandson."

They both stood up, mesmerized by the tiny little boy that was nestled in the blue blanket. "He's perfect." Olivia breathed, tearing up at the site of him. "What's his name?"

"Charles Hanson Tutuola." William grinned before handing him to Olivia. "We chose the name because we can nickname him Charlie."

"Well, hi there Charlie. I'm your grandma." Olivia smiled down at her grandson. He yawned, his arms finding their way out of his blanket. "He's a light little thing."

William nodded. "Yeah, he is five pounds, six ounces. Born October 16th at 5:21. Summer thinks it's a good sign since Hailee was born at 1:25."

Elliot grinned. "I'd say it is." He looked down at his grandson before Olivia handed him to him. "He looks just like Summer."

"Yeah, he's just perfect." William breathed, his hands slipping into the pockets of his scrubs. "He's got her nose and her jaw. As far as we know, he has her eyes, but we won't know for a couple months yet."

"Stabler eyes run in the family." Elliot chuckled looking down at his grandson.

William smiled lightly. "So far, the only thing he's got from me is my skin." He said pointing out his dark skin, almost the same shade as Kenny's.

Olivia grinned at him and kissed his cheek. "Congrats! You're a Daddy!"

"He is?" Someone asked from behind them. They all looked to find Casey, Fin, John, and Alex. Casey was the one that had spoken.

"Hey Mom!" William grinned with tears in his eyes. Casey hugged him before looking at her grandson.

"Oh my God! He's precious." Casey breathed as Elliot gently handed him to her.

Elliot realized something he forgot to ask. He looked at William. "How's Summer?"

William grinned. "She did beautifully! Dr. Lucas told her that the way her hips were positioned, it would be easy for her to deliver. He was right. So, she'll probably thank you for that later."

Elliot smirked and looked at Olivia. "I told you that my hips were good for something." Olivia chuckled at him and wrapped her arms around his waist as they looked at their grandson.
