I keep getting jostled around, and it really hurts. That's why I woke up. I had the strangest dream- I was surrounded by weird people in red. They called me Avatar Korra. I scrunch my eyebrows in at the name. I guess it's mine, but I don't remember it. I don't remember anything.

"Good afternoon, Avatar Korra." That name, they called me it again. I open my eyes to see a man carrying me. He is maybe in his 30's. He has black hair and a black beard. He smiles kindly down at me. Great, it wasn't a dream.

"I can walk on my own, you know." I snap. He flinches at the harsh tone.

"I'm not sure that is the best idea, Avatar." Replies the girl from earlier. She has brown hair and is dressed like the men- completely covered in red.

"I said I'm fine. I still have legs." I glare at the girl for a few moments until the man carrying me reluctantly puts me down. "Thank you." The old man steps forward and offers his hand. Gratefully, my hand finds his and squeezes it as I attempt to stand. Putting one foot under the other, I push up with my free hand, only to fall into the man's arms out of breath. He stumbles back from my sudden weight, but quickly regains his footing.

"We need to get you to the healer, quickly."

"How far…?" I ask between breaths. My lungs really hurt from standing; it feels like someone is squeezing them tightly, and they are not planning to let them go anytime soon.

"About 10 minutes." They set off at a quick pace, and I watch birds flying and squawking over my head. "My name is Shu by the way." Comments the gray-haired man as we enter a building. There are many windows letting the sun in. I start forming a mental map of where we are going.

"I'm Kyami." Her voice is silky and soft, very soothing.

"Yon." States the younger man. I look back at the hallway and realize something- this building is very confusing.

"Tila! You have a patient!" Shu calls into a seemingly empty room. A young woman with tan skin, dark hair, and teal eyes emerges from a side room. She looks me up and down, her eyes lingering on my face for a second.

"Put her over there!" She points to a cot in the corner under a window. Shu, Kyami, and Yon walk over to the cot, and Shu places me down immediately. Tila walks over to the edge of the room and fills a bowl with water. "What happened, Avatar Korra?"

"I don't know."

"How did you get on our island?"

"I don't know."

"What hurts?" She walks back over to me and puts the bowl of water on a nearby table.

"Everything." She sits down on a stool next to the cot. She pulls the bowl closer and does something that makes me jump in surprise- she moved the water! "How…?" She gently pushes me down and moves the water over my body, which releases an odd, cooling sensation.

"One punctured lung, a broken rib, sprained ankle, and a nice cut on your left cheek that I can heal, but will likely leave a scar." She brings her hands to my cheek and leaves them there for a few minutes. When she's done, she looks back up at the people who found me. "May I help you?"

"Can we talk? In private? It'll just be a few minutes." Her eyes travel over me and then she looks up.

"Can it wait?" She questions exasperatedly.

"No." She sighs in defeat, clearly respecting her elders.

"Five minutes. No more." She looks back at me and states sternly to stay in bed. I nod, not even imagining getting up. They walk to the hallway, but don't close the door. Bad move on their part because I can hear the screaming.

"-lost memory. Found on-"

"Weakly airbent-"

"-collapsed."

"Passed out."

"-tried to stand." Then everything becomes extremely clear.

"THE AVATAR IS WITHOUT HER MEMORY?!" The woman- Tila- yells. I hear scuffling like she is being restrained.

"You can't-" They lower their voices once more so I am unable to eavesdrop on them.

"Go on. We will be back tomorrow. We will notify her family." Tila walks back through the door and over to my cot, closing the door behind her. She looks quite stressed, but like she is trying to hide it.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Anything." She moves the water back over me with a flick of her wrist.

"How do you do that?"

"I'm a waterbender, like you. It means that I can manipulate water."

I pause to let her words sink in. However, a sudden memory rises. "But I manipulated the air, not the water."

"The Avatar can manipulate all four elements- water, earth, fire, and air. And you are the Avatar."

"What's the Avatar? How many Avatars are there? How do they control the elements?" She lets out an exasperated sigh and chews her bottom lip for a moment, before replying.

"The Avatar is the connection between the spirit world and the material world. There is only one Avatar at a time. How they manipulate the elements is… a little more complicated than that. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you that, Korra.

"How am I the Avatar? Did I win it or something? Who can tell me more about it?" She sighs again and places the water down.

"I don't know how you are the Avatar. You always have been. The only people that I know could help you are the past Avatars."

"How-"

"I don't know." She resumes making the water glow. I watch in awe and ponder all this new information. I have so many other questions, that I get a headache just trying to sort them. I go for the easiest question. "Where am I?" She moves her hands over my stomach and I feel a sudden burning pain. I gasp for air as the flames shoot through my body.

"You are on Zendani Island in the Fire Nation. It is near the Fire Nation capital. Which means that the Fire Lord and his family sometimes visit our island. He has a house on the beach. And the fire is your lung trying to heal itself. Not sure I can do it. It might be a few weeks before you are completely healed." I just nod my head weakly, not having the strength to talk anymore. I have so many other questions, like what a Fire Lord is, but my eyelids are suddenly getting heavier and heavier.

"Go ahead. You will hopefully feel better when you wake." My eyes close at her command and a sigh escapes me as darkness envelopes me.

Hey guys! I am soooooooooooooooo sorry about not updating. I meant to have this chapter up before episode 7 of Legend of Korra came out. Most of this was written, but then I lost the notebook. And some family issues occurred, and I was pushed back a few months. And then there is school. Oh my gosh. I had my first ever final, and realized two somethings: 1) I hate finals. And 2) I over-studied quite a bit. He-he. Oh well. And then Frozen came out, and that has taken over much of my life. And some fanfics are in the works about a game my friend and I played with our dolls. It's a cross-over between Frozen and A: TLA.

Don't get your hopes up for another chapter soon. The next couple months are very busy for me. I will try to update as quickly as possible ;)

I had a lot more questions, for Korra to ask, planned before everything happened, but I forgot most of them over the course of a few months. So I am open for any questions you would like Korra to ask. AlsoI would like suggestions for Zuko's wife. He might be joining us soon.

Illustrious Unknown: Thanks for the ideas! I might make three boys pine over Korra. And I can guarantee that Korra and Mako will be on good terms (possibly back together) by the time this story ends. I cried at the end of the series when Mako and Korra officially broke up, again.

Thanks also to Bobbette, J, Trixie is Best Pony and Kell08 for reviewing. And thanks to everyone who favorite.

Disclaimer: Little Jayleaf had a fanfic account. E-I-E-I-O. And on this account there was a story. E-I-E-I-O. With a battle here and a battle there. Here a battle. There a battle. Everywhere a big bad battle. Little Jayleaf had a fanfic. E-I-E-I-O.

Korra lost her memory. E-I-E-I-O. And with no memory she knew one thing. E-I-E-I-O. With a thing here and a thing there. Here a thing. There a thing. Everywhere a memory thing. Jayleaf did not own Korra. E-I-E-I-O.
