Please review! You guys are the best!
2018- July
"Liv, I want to stay home with Summer. We will be fine." Elliot insisted as he kissed her head. "The boys are at school. Summer is writing a new script. Fin is coming over later. Nothing exciting is going to happen today. The house will still be standing when you get home."
"I know it will." Olivia chuckled, putting her hands on his chest. "You make me feel like a horrible wife when you talk like that."
Elliot smirked. "So, you admit that it's your fault." He laughed when she slapped his chest. "I'm kidding; I'm kidding." He kissed her forehead before hugging her. "I love you. Go have fun at work with the guys and make sure Cassidy doesn't hit on you again."
Olivia rolled her eyes with a disgusted look on her face. "If he does, I am arresting him for assault because he rammed his tongue down my throat the last time." She slung her purse over her shoulder and kissed the corner of his mouth. "I'll see you tonight."
Elliot grinned. "Is anything implied with that statement?" He wagged his eyebrows at her.
"I don't know." Olivia smiled evilly. She leaned closer to his ear. "Let's just say, I have a craving." Slowly, she slid her hand down his stomach to cup him through his pants. He took in a breath of air through his nose and closed his eyes. "Save that for me later." With that, she walked through the door to their garage, getting into her car.
"That was just cruel, Liv." Elliot smiled lightly, raising his voice so she could hear him. He waved at her as she left the garage. Closing the door, he went back inside and walked into the living room to find Summer and Carmela watching TV. Summer was rubbing her belly slowly.
She looked up at him. "Hey Daddy." She smiled in her raspy morning voice. "I told you that you didn't need to stay home with me today."
"I know, but I want to." Elliot smiled and kissed her head. "Besides, you are supposed to take it easy as possible. Dickie and Carmela are taking the kids to the zoo today. Charlie and Hailee will love it. Where are the little rascals by the way?"
Carmela chuckled. "Dickie is helping Charlie pick out a 'cool' outfit for the zoo."
Summer grinned. "My son has the coolest clothes. Billy makes sure of that when he is here." She adjusted herself and groaned. "Why can't men carry the kids for at least one pregnancy? Twins are torture!"
"Your kids are going to love hearing your stories when you get older." Carmela chuckled as she gave the remote to her. She hugged Summer. "I am going to go see what your brother is doing with our kids. I will call you later, okay?" Summer nodded before Carmela hurried upstairs.
"So, what are you watching?" Elliot asked, sitting down next to his daughter, wrapping an arm around her.
Summer snuggled into his side and sighed contently. "Ridiculousness." She chuckled when she could picture her father rolling his eyes. "It's not that bad."
"My grandchildren should not be listening to it." Elliot reminded her before kissing her head. "Their other grandfather is coming over soon and he will side with me."
Summer rolled her eyes. "That's because he's your best friend and sides with you when he doesn't even know the situation." She closed her eyes. "You're really comfy."
Elliot smiled lightly. "Well, you used to sleep on my chest all the time when you were younger."
"I remember you singing to me." Summer murmured as she felt herself dozing off.
"You tired?" Elliot asked. He felt his daughter nod against his chest. "Well, go to sleep then. I'll help you." He started rocking slightly to the tempo in his head before singing the lyrics to My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. Slowly, he watched as his daughter fell asleep, breathing steadily against his chest. He put a hand on her stomach, smiling when he felt his grandchildren kicking around. Summer decided to wait to find out what she was having because William wasn't there to find out either.
Later, Fin was there. He and Elliot were both watching the newest Die Hard movie when Summer jolted awake. "Holy!"
Elliot leaned forward and rubbed her back. "Summer, baby, what's wrong?"
"I'm having a contraction." Summer breathed, squeezing her father's knee.
"I'll go get her bag." Fin said running upstairs to get her bag.
Summer groaned, holding her stomach. "This is a lot more painful than I remember."
"Let's get you out to the car." Elliot prompted her, rubbing her back. He stood up and helped her get up carefully. "You okay?" Summer nodded, gripping his hand. He helped her out to the garage as Fin came down with her suitcase. Elliot got in the back with Summer as Fin got into the driver's seat. "Let's go, Fin!"
Fin grabbed Elliot's police siren and put it on top of the car before heading towards the city. "I'm going to call Casey." He informed Elliot and Summer before grabbing his phone.
"I should call Liv." Elliot said mostly to himself before grabbing his phone. He buckled himself in before checking his daughter as the phone rang.
"Benson." Olivia greeted through her phone, obviously not checking her caller ID.
Elliot smiled lightly. "Hey Liv, Summer just went into labor."
"What?! You told me nothing exciting was going to happen today!" Olivia gasped, scolding him.
"I don't control when our daughter's water breaks." Elliot scoffed, almost chuckling. He rubbed Summer's back as she leaned forward again, breathing hard. "We're heading to the hospital now. We will meet you there, okay?"
Olivia nodded. "Okay, can I talk to Summer please?"
Elliot looked at Summer. "Yeah, she's right here." He handed the phone to Summer. "Your mother wants to talk to you."
Summer took the phone and lifted it to her ear. "Hey Mom."
"Hey baby, how are you doing?" Olivia asked, sitting down at her desk, biting the end of her pen.
"Uh, I'm hanging in there. You were right. Twins hurts more than just one baby." Summer breathed.
"No kidding." Olivia muttered and smiled lightly. "I'm going to see you as soon as I can. I just have to talk to Don and hopefully get out of here."
Summer leaned back into the seat, feeling her contraction subside. "Okay, sounds good." She let out a breath of air and smiled softly. "Love you Mom."
Olivia grinned and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Love you too, babe." She heard the click, signaling that her daughter hung up. She hung up on her end and hurried into Cragen's office.
Summer handed the phone back to her father, taking in a deep breath. "Hey Fin, what did Casey say?"
"She is going to call Alex and John and get to the hospital after she is done with arraignment. She said that she'd be thirty minutes at the most. Just hang in there, Summer." Fin said as he turned onto the highway.
A half hour later, they reached the hospital and Summer's contractions were speeding up fast. They got her situated in her room when her contractions were getting stronger in pain. Elliot kissed his daughter's head as she gripped his hand, fighting through the pain. "That's it, baby. You're doing good. It's almost over." He said looking at the familiar black screen with the little green line showing his daughter's contractions.
"Hey, I got the ice." Fin informed them, walking in with a bucket and plastic cup.
"Thanks." Summer breathed as the contractions subsided in pain. She took the small plastic cube and tipped a ice cube into her mouth, thankful for the cool relief. She leaned back into the mattress of her bed and looked up at her dad. "Where's Mom?"
"She should be here soon." Elliot sighed and kissed her forehead. "The doctor said that you are doing beautifully despite the fact that your labor is going extremely fast."
Summer rolled her eyes. "Thank God! This is twice as painful than it was with Charlie. I don't know why. Dr. Lucas said the pain should be about the same." She rubbed her stomach. "Mom said that mine and the twin's birth was the most painful."
Elliot crouched down by the mattress, leaning his forearms on the mattress. "Your birth was the scariest. I thought I was going to lose you."
"You were a mess." Fin nodded at Elliot. "You stayed strong around Olivia, but I got the you that was loony."
"Dad couldn't have been that bad." Summer chuckled, resting her ice cube glass on her stomach.
"You wanna bet? I have your father on video freaking out when your mother had to use the bathroom." Fin grinned, rubbing her shoulder.
Summer smiled looking down at her father. "Why were you so stressed?"
"Because, your father was wrapped around your little finger the moment we picked out your name." Olivia grinned walking in with Casey. "Hey baby girl." She went over to her daughter and kissed her head, hugging her gently. "How are you doing?"
Summer huffed out a breath. "I'm doing alright. The doctor said that I should be delivering in the next couple of hours." She chuckled when Casey hugged her tightly. "Hey Case."
Casey smiled at her as she pulled back. "Hey Murmur!" She squealed before hugging her again. "I love you for giving me grandkids."
"I know you do." Summer laughed. "You tell me that every time I come to your house to hang out with Kenny. I love you too, Casey." She closed her eyes when she felt another contraction. "Daddy..."
"I'm right here, baby. I'm right here." Elliot cooed, taking her hand again. He cupped the back of her neck as she leaned forward. "You're doing good. The worst is almost over." Summer nodded, breathing through her nose. He looked up at Fin and Casey. "Did either of you call William?"
Casey nodded. "I did on the way over here. He didn't pick up, but I left a message. Hopefully, he'll get it before she delivers."
Summer shook her head. "I don't want him to worry. He needs to be focused."
"He'd be pissed off if we didn't call him." Fin smirked. "Would you want him pissed off or worried?"
Summer groaned and dropped her head to her pillow. "I don't know. He's more focused pissed off, but he doesn't forgive easily."
"He forgives you easily." Olivia grinned.
"I'm his wife. He knows not to piss me off." Summer smiled lightly and rubbed her baby bump soothingly.
"Where's my little sister?" Dickie smiled, walking into the room holding Charlie. Carmela came in behind him holding Hailee.
Summer grinned as he came over and hugged her. "Hey Dickie!" She closed her eyes when he kissed her head. "I thought you guys went to the zoo."
Dickie smirked. "Well, Mom called and said that you went into labor. Charlie wanted to wish his Momma luck. And, I wanted to wish my little sister some luck as well."
"Well, Momma is glad you did." Summer smiled as she kissed Charlie's forehead. "Are you excited to have two little brothers or sisters?"
"Yeah, I teach them how to talk." Charlie smiled cheekily before kissing Summer's cheek. "Can I stay with uncle Dickie and aunt Mela tonight?"
Summer looked up at Dickie. He nodded at her, winking. "Yeah, I guess that's okay. Will you promise to come and visit me tomorrow?"
Charlie made a X over his heart. "Cross my heart." Summer smiled at him before feeling another contraction.
Just then, the Dr. Lucas came in and smiled. "Well, I guess the family is starting to come." He went over to Summer's charts and looked them over quickly. "I think we're ready for you to deliver."
Dickie lifted up Charlie as a nurse came in and started unhooking Summer from the different wires and cords that were attached to her fingers and arms. Casey kissed Fin as Olivia kissed Elliot. "Go help our daughter." She smiled at him.
Elliot grinned and pecked her lips softly. "I promise." The nurse unlocked the bed and signaled for the doctor to help her move the bed. Fin and Elliot grabbed the sides of the bed while Dr. Lucas joined the nurse by the head.
Soon, they were in the delivery room. Elliot was kneeling on the bed behind her, supporting her, while holding one of her hands. Fin had her other hand as Dr. Lucas patted her leg. "Okay, Summer, you know the drill?" Summer nodded. "Good. One, two three, push!" Summer groaned as she pushed against her father, gripping both men's hands. "One, two, three, four, five, breathe."
Elliot felt his daughter's weight lean back against him. He kissed the top of her head. "You're doing good baby. Just remember to keep breathing."
"One, two, three, push!" Dr. Lucas directed. Summer did as she was told. She let out a high pitched squeal when the pain became almost unbearable. "One, two, three, four, five, breathe."
"Daddy? I don't know if I can take much more of this." Summer gasped, panting for air.
"I know it's hard, baby. But, picture your two little babies, Murmur. They are counting on you." Elliot said reassuringly into her ear. "You got this, baby. I know you do. You're my soldier."
"One, two, three, push!" Dr. Lucas repeated. Summer let out a sob as she pushed. She swore her heart stopped when she heard her baby cry. She looked up at Dr. Lucas to see him smiling. "Welcome your baby girl!"
Summer let another sob escape her lips, her face breaking into a smile. "Oh my God! She's beautiful!"
Fin grinned and waved a finger at the baby. "She looks just like you."
"Absolutely perfect." Elliot smiled, tears filling his eyes.
Dr. Lucas turned to them. "Okay, ready for baby number two."
Summer nodded with her newly found determination. "Yeah, I'm ready."
"One, two, three, push!" Dr. Lucas smiled at her. Summer pushed with all her might as he counted up to five and told her to breathe. She repeated the process over and over again for what seemed like forever. "Okay, Summer, the baby is in a bad position. You're going to need to push a little harder." Summer groaned, but nodded, knowing there was no other choice. "One, two, three, push!"
Summer pushed with her aching bones and muscles. She could faintly hear her father encouraging her as Fin rubbed her arm and held her hand. A cry ripped through everything and made her look up. "Oh my God!"
Dr. Lucas smiled at her. "Welcome baby girl number two! You have identical twins!" Summer teared up looking at her. Dr. Lucas turned to give the baby to the nurse.
"You did great, Summer!" Fin smiled looking at his two new granddaughters.
"How do you feel, Murmur?" Elliot asked, kissing his daughter's temple. He furrowed his eyebrows when she didn't answer him. He looked down to find her eyes shut. "Summer?" Suddenly, the heart monitor started the familiar beep that never ended. "What's happening?"
Dr. Lucas hurried over to Summer and checked her eyes. "Her body is going into shock. I need you two to leave."
Elliot shook his head. "I'm not leaving her. I promised her I would be here."
"Elliot! Do you want me to save your daughter?!" Dr. Lucas asked, raising his voice. Elliot stared at him before the nurse came over and moved Summer away from him, laying her on the mattress. "I need you two to leave, now."
Fin grabbed Elliot and pulled him towards the door. "C'mon El, we need to go." He pulled him out into the hallway and sat him down on a bench. "Summer is going to be fine. She fights through everything and makes it through."
Elliot shook his head, tearing up. "But, I never pushed her before Fin." He choked out, looking up at his best friend. "I should've listened to her. She said that the pain was too much. I should've done something."
"El, there is nothing you could've done. She was too far along to do anything else. She is going to make it." Fin reassured his friend. "This isn't your fault."
"Yes, it is." Elliot sobbed, putting his face in his hands. "I can't live without her, Fin. She's my baby girl. I can't live without her." Fin teared up seeing his friend so upset. His heart broke when he heard two familiar voice coming closer.
Casey laughed as she and Olivia rounded the corner. "I know right!" They both chuckled before they looked at the guys.
Olivia looked from Fin to Elliot and started shaking when she saw Elliot with his face in his hands. "El-Elliot, what's going on? Why are you out here?" She walked closer to him and nearly collapsed when she saw the tears running down Elliot's face. "No..."
"Summer went into shock. Her heart... stopped." Elliot choked out. He watched as his wife teared up, dropping her coffee onto the floor.
"No. That's not true." Olivia said, backing up. Elliot stood up, stepping towards her. "Tell me that's not true." He didn't speak. A few more tears fell down his cheeks and she knew he wouldn't lie about this. She started sobbing, shaking. Elliot wrapped his arms around her as she sobbed into his chest. "No!" She cried, feeling her lungs gasp for air. She held her husband tight, feeling her heart break piece by piece as she let more tears fall.
Please review! Love you guys! Almost crying while writing this!
