2018-July

Elliot and Olivia stood in the waiting room holding each other. One of the nurses escorted them there when she heard about Summer. Fin and Casey were sitting by them, nervous about Summer. "El, what if she doesn't pull through?" Olivia choked out into his chest.

"She has to make it through. Liv, she will be fine." Elliot croaked out, feeling his throat start to constrict again. He held her tighter when he felt her tremble in his arms.

A nurse walked in then, putting newer magazines on the side tables. Fin stood up and walked over to her. "Excuse me? I'm Fin Tutuola. My daughter in-law, Summer Tutuola, how is she doing?"

"Uh, I can ask her doctor." The nurse explained. "Do you know which doctor is hers?"

"Dr. Lucas." Fin informed her. "Summer gave birth to twin girls. Can we see them?"

The nurse looked out into the hallway before looking back at him. "You can see them in the nursery, but we don't want them to come into contact with anybody until your daughter in-law has pulled through."

Elliot looked up at her. "So, she's going to make it through?"

"Sorry, it's just not in our hands right now. Mrs. Tutuola could go either way. Is the father here?" The nurse asked.

"No, he's overseas." Casey sighed, rubbing her neck gently. The nurse nodded with a sad smile before leaving. "Shit!" Casey breathed.

"Liv, honey, she is still alive; she is going to pull through." Elliot cooed into her ear, still holding her against his chest. He rubbed her back, hoping to calm his wife as well as himself.

When a phone rang, Fin stood up. "It's William." He said before looking at Elliot and Olivia. "We have to tell him."

Elliot let go of Olivia and pointed his finger at Fin. "No, we can't tell him."

"We HAVE to tell him. It's his wife!" Fin argued.

"We need Will to have a clear head over there. We tell him that Summer may die, his mind is going to make things a lot more worse than they could be and he's not going to be focusing on what he needs to. I will not let my grandchildren grow up without either parent." Elliot gritted out, tearing up.

Fin looked at Elliot another moment before putting the phone on speaker. "Hey Will."

"Hey Dad! Mom called and told me that Summer went into labor. How is she doing?" William asked, clearly excited.

Fin looked back at Elliot. "She did great. You have twin daughters!"

William grinned. "So, Summer and I have Nekoda and Kyra! How are they?"

Elliot teared up hearing the names that his daughter picked out for her daughter's. Fin spoke up after shaking his head. "They're beautiful. They both look like Summer."

"I hoped so." William smiled into the phone. "Can I talk to Summer?"

"Uh, the doctor and nurses are still getting her ready to go back to her room. It may be a while before she gets back into her room. Plus, she was pretty tired after delivering." Fin explained, hoping his statements would suffice for his son.

"Yeah, she should probably rest. Just, have her call me as soon as she can, okay?" William asked as he sat on his bunk.

Fin nodded tearing up, but keeping them at bay. "I'll make sure she does. Love you Will."

"Love you too, Dad. Say hi to everybody for me." William grinned before hanging up.

Fin slowly hung up the phone and stared at it. "I just lied to my son."

Casey rubbed his back. "It was for his own good." She kissed his cheek before he wrapped his arm around her waist. Looking up, she searched Elliot and Olivia's eyes. "Summer has to make it. She has been through too much to end up this way."

"Elliot! Olivia!" Dr. Lucas called as he jogged into the waiting room.

"Dr. Lucas, how is Summer?" Olivia asked stepping closer to him, holding her hands together.

Dr. Lucas put a hand on her shoulder. "We have her back in her room. One of the girls was pressing too hard against her left lung. When she delivered, she was inhaling a lot more oxygen than she was used to and it shocked her body. We had to give her a sedative, but once she wakes up, we'll be able to bring the girls to the room to see her."

Elliot exhaled sharply. "So, Summer is going to be okay?"

"Yes, Elliot, Summer will be fine. This happens from time to time with people who have small frames. When Summer wakes up, she is going to want to see her kids and eat something. Other than that, she will be fine." Dr. Lucas smiled and patted Elliot's shoulder. "She's back in her room if you guys want to stay in there. If you need another chair in there, just tell one of the nurses."

"Thanks doc." Elliot breathed before looking at Olivia. She smiled up at him before throwing herself at him, wrapping her arms around him, burying her face in his chest. He grinned, tearing up, and kissed her head. "I love you."

Olivia smiled and kissed his chest. "I love you too." She pulled back and took his hand. "Let's go see our daughter." She tugged on his hand before they walked down the hallway to their daughter's room. All four of them walked in to find Summer sleeping in the bed. She had the neon green hospital band on her wrist with an orange dot on it to tell doctors and nurses that she belonged on this floor. Her hair was still pulled back into a ponytail.

Casey grabbed Fin's hand and tugged on it lightly. He furrowed his eyebrows looking at her. She smiled lightly. "Guys, we're going to go get coffee from the cafeteria, do you want any?"

"Uh, sure, decaf please." Olivia nodded, folding her arms over chest as she stared at her daughter.

"Yeah, I'll do the same." Elliot breathed before they left with a nod. He looked back at his daughter. "She looks absolutely perfect."

Olivia smiled and took his hand into hers, twining their fingers together. "Yeah, she does."

Hours later, Casey, Fin, Elliot, and Olivia were sleeping in the room in various areas. Elliot was sitting in a chair, his head resting on his forearms on the bed. Olivia was sleeping in the recliner next to the bed. Fin was sleeping on the couch with Casey laying on top of him. The only light coming from the bathroom, shining through crack in between the door and doorframe.

Summer moaned as she felt her tired eyes opening. She saw her father resting on the mattress beside her. "Daddy?" She said groggily. She put a hand on his arm and rubbed it, trying to wake him. "Daddy?"

"Murmur?" Elliot asked, still half asleep. He rubbed his face before looking up at her. His eyes widened. "Hey baby." He breathed before taking her face in his hands and kissing her forehead. "I'm so happy you're okay."

"What happened? The last thing I remember is Kyra being born." Summer asked before grabbing her father's arm. "How are the girls?"

Elliot smiled. "They're beautiful and perfect. That reminds me; the nurses wanted to know when you woke up so the girls could see you."

"Good." Summer breathed before hugging him. He kissed her head and rubbed her back. "I love you, Daddy."

"I love you too, Summer." Elliot whispered. "I was so scared I was going to lose you. I looked down and your eyes were closed. That's when your heart stopped. We had to lie to William so that he could stay focused."

Summer looked up at her dad. "You're never going to lose me." They both turned when they heard Olivia groan and jerk in her sleep before settling back into the cushions. "Does she do that often?"

Elliot sighed. "Yeah, that's why I have a sore back once a month."
