Kurama's POV:

Everyone stays silent as Koenma and I have a staring contest.

"So Koenma, what relation do you have with Kurama?" The buff guy asks.

"Koenma and I are… Ex best friends?" I make up right away. Koenma grins and shakes his head.

"So is my team ready to kill some demons?" He asks, trying not make this anymore awkward than it already is.

Yusuke slams his fist into his palm. "Hell yeah."

"Well that's good. Chu's team already won their battle and soon it'll be your turn. So don't look like idiots out there." He gives me one more quick look. "Good luck."

"Why didn't you tell me Koenma is the sponsor for your team?" I scold Yusuke.

"You never asked. Besides I didn't know you two were you know… together. Need to kept in the loop dee loop."

I sigh and cross my arms as we wait to be called out for our first battle. The previous team kills their opponent in less than ten minutes. We catch a glimpse of them. They're a group of five wearing dark cloaks and they walk in a synchronized motion.

"Okay, well they're creepy." Kuwabara whispers as we prepare to go out on the stadium.

"Are they demons too?" I ask, still watching them walking away. Every demon who sees them clears a path. They sure have a reputation.

"Don't know. I don't pick up much demon energy from them. Maybe they're humans. I hope we get to fight them." Yusuke adds.

Hiei just stares at them and scoffs. "Weaklings are what they are."

Just then the ceiling above us begins to rumble and I see the stage in front of me.

"Now on my right, Team Urameshi!" The announcer calls. Did I mention she has pointed ears? I don't know why, but every time I look at one, I get a funny feeling inside.

The crowd soon dies down and murmurs in confusion. "Where's Yoko Kurama?" I hear one say. "Yeah, we were told he'd be here." Another follows. "Who is that human?"

I ignore as the opposing team steps on the stage. They're five lizards all right. Scales and tail and all. Plaid shirts wrap around their shoulders with swords strapping at their sides. The one that's stepped up closer smiles.

"Where's the Legendary Bandit? We were told he was here?" His voice is raspy, like a smoker's.

"Well it seems like you got the memo wrong. It may not seem obvious, but my team and I would really like to get this over with so if you don't mind, Hiei will take out his anger on you since you're not worth our time and Hiei needs to blow off some steam here." Yusuke steps back while Hiei walks forward, grabbing my arm in warning.

The rest of my team backs off as my scarlet-eyed demon unsheathes his sword.

"Are you mocking us? I think he's mocking us. We came here to fight Yoko Kurama, now where is he?" The leader takes out a silver sledgehammer while the others pull out knives and other sharp objects your mother told you not to play with.

"Sorry, but Yoko isn't here at the moment. It's too bad you had to die before you were able to see him."

"Was it really necessary to torture their leader to make them surrender?" I somewhat yell at Hiei.

"They weren't worth my time. Besides, I haven't been able to relax since… Well you know when."

"I guess." I take his hand as we walk along the shore by the hotel. "So it seems like the demon inside is really popular, huh?"

"Yeah. Yoko was legendary. He did some things that not a lot of rich demons liked. Then again, he was the king to all the bandits. You're pretty popular around here. Or more like the demon inside of you is." He leads me back towards the entrance of the hotel.

"Wait, Hiei. I don't want to go inside yet." I faintly blush as I try to arrange the words in my head. "I want some more alone time with you. I appreciate that you guys protect me and all, but sometimes I feel suffocated. So can we just stay out here for a while?" I pull off the look in my eyes Hiei can't resist.

And I'm right. "Fine. But you owe me later Little Red." He pulls on my shirt and kisses me lightly. I haven't felt his lips in a long time. I kiss him back and of course he doesn't like losing.

Before I know it, Hiei knocks me down on the ground and we are making out. Good thing a few trees are around us along with other plants or that would've been… awkward.

Hiei pushes me back and we're both lying on the ground panting. "You happy now?"

I grin in content. "Yeah."
