Kurama's POV:
After all my begging, the team finally agrees on going to see Korisuishou fight. Hiei is still kind of on the edge with the girl I met in the forest. I'm pretty sure he's jealous. Hiei does like to kick Yusuke against walls whenever he gets flirty with me.
We watch the other teams first before Team Korisuishou is up, facing demons that look like the summo wrestler that nearly killed me yesterday. Her team wears the same dark cloak, a hood, and a scarf covering their face except for their eyes.
"So the leader of this team is the bitch that killed our leader yesterday?" One of them asks in a bellow. His skin is off white and he wears the same spiky collar as the dead one. "So which one of you is it? Or do I have to kill every single one of you to find out?"
I can't hear an answer from Korisuishou but one of them snaps off the scarf and pulls back the hood. It's her. "I don't want to make a mess, so I'll just take you on." I hear her say. She stares up to her left and meets my eyes. It's like she knows I'm there. She winks at me and I watch her in action.
She holds the hilt of a sword and quickly unsheathes a glowing bright blue sword. The other team doesn't seem to be intimidated.
"Is that all the power you can harness? I can't believe our leader fell before the likes of you!" All of them charge at her at once. She doesn't flinch.
I can clearly see her movements as she dashes from one demon to another, decapitating their heads. As she sheathes her sword again, I realize the blade disappears. Before I know it, the crowd is cheering and Team Korisuishou wins.
"Well that sure was fast." Yusuke comments. "That girl sure knows her stuff. What do you think Hiei? Would you like to take her on? Sword against sword I mean."
Hiei gives him a nod. "No." I say. Everyone looks at me in shock, even Hiei. "I'll be taking her on."
Team Korisuishou's POV:
"Gee Kori, did you really need to do that? I mean we're not even in the finals and you've cut off like how many heads?" A boy snatches off his scarf and pulls down his hood, revealing his light blue colored hair. Everyone reveals their faces as they walk away from the stadium.
"I need to scare him. Whatever it takes. I just need to." Kori whispers in confidence.
"Yeah well excuse me to say Miss Team Captain, but I don't think Yoko Kurama is spooked that easily. I mean his boyfriend can do that with his eyes closed, feet bound together, and one hand tied to his back. How impressed do you think he'll be, much less scared."
Kori slams the boy against the wall, pressing her forearm against his throat. "You never shut up, do you Natsuki?" The boy can easily see the seriousness in her dark blue eyes.
The boy chuckles. "Alright, alright. I give." The team turns their attention behind Kori. Team Urameshi approaches them with Kurama leading. "And shall we speak of the devil."
The girl releases Natsuki and smiles at the familiar face. "Hey. You came to watch."
"Yeah. You were really good. Umm, excuse for not asking you earlier, but what's your name?"
"Kori. It's nice to have a proper introduction, Yoko Kurama." She holds out her hand. Yusuke and Hiei quickly become guarded. "Relax. I'm saving all my fighting with you for the finals." She winks at Kurama again as they shake hands. When their skin touches, Kori feels a sudden pull towards him. She looks up to his vivid green eyes wondering the same question she's been pondering about since they met. She quickly withdraws her hand as a blush brushes across her face.
"Keep your distance from him, demon." Hiei warns as he drags Kurama away from her team.
"Uhh excuse me, Dragon Flame? I'd like to talk to him before your match, is that okay?"
Hiei considers the thought, but refuses, continuing to drag Kurama.
"Hiei, please." And of course, he can't say no to Kurama.
Kori and Kurama walk side by side at the shore, a silence drifting between them.
"Mari told me something interesting the other day. She said it was a blue moon this month." Kurama's thoughts suddenly pause in fright. "You know what that means, don't you Yoko? It means you'll be appearing again."
"Kori-"
"Save your fight for me. I've been waiting for this for too long. But-" She abruptly stops, her head lowering. "Why? Why would you pick an innocent human being as a vessel? Do you not have any sympathy for those you inhabit? Why not some criminal instead? Why him? Why Kurama?"
Kurama nearly didn't know what to do. Is she yelling at him or at the demon inside him? "Uhh Kori?" He lifts her chin up so their eyes can meet. "Don't worry. Yoko barely bothers me anyway. And the transformation only lasts for one day."
She suddenly feels that tug again. Not knowing how else to respond, Kori gently sets her lips on Kurama's. How? How can a human as sweet as you, also be a violent demon?
Yusuke's eyes widen as Kori kisses Kurama. He can tell his friend doesn't know what to do by the way he stands completely frozen.
