Kurama's POV:

I pace back and forth in the waiting room, trying to get a sense of what happened fifteen minutes ago.

"What's wrong Kurama? You seem a bit edgy today. Are you nervous about our fight?" Yusuke asks, slightly chuckling.

I unconsciously hit him across his face, then continue pacing. "Shut up Yusuke, I'm not in the mood." I know he knows what's going on since he escorted me here after my talk with Kori, telling me that he saw everything.

I catch a glimpse of Hiei staring at me. I realize he and I haven't really talked since after the first match of the tournament. I want to tell him that it meant nothing, but I'm afraid that he's not going to believe me.

"Well you know its serious when Kurama says shut up." Yusuke adds. "Better talk to him Hiei. It sounds important." He leads the group outside, leaving Hiei and I alone.

"What's this all about?" He starts. "Are you keeping something from me?"

I bite down on my lip and let my 'bravery' take over. "Hiei, I think that you should know this. Kori and I-"

"Made out?" I glance up at him in shock. He doesn't show any emotion on his face. "Yusuke told me. So is it true?"

First, I cuss out Yusuke in my mind, then I shake my head. "We didn't make out. She kissed me. She told me how she didn't get why I was so nice while the demon inside is so evil."

Uncharacteristically, Hiei laughs. "I've been wondering that question since I figured out you transform into Yoko every full moon. I guess that's one of the things I love about you. You're so innocent and pure, Kurama. You don't care if the demon is evil; you continue to be who you are. And I don't want that to change." He walks up to me and forces me to sit down. "You hear me, Little Red? Don't you ever change, or I might just have to kill you." He grabs my chin with some force and kisses me gently. "Come on, it's time for our fight."

Against Hiei stands a man with bulking muscles in a ripped shirt. He holds out a sword about the same height as Hiei. Not going to lie, but he is kind of short.

"I'm flattered to be facing the Jagan User, but I would've rather fought the Demon Traitor over there." The demon laughs, pointing his sword towards me.

"I'm sorry. But that boy is never fighting. It was just a mix up with the committee."

"Oh? Then I guess Kori will make sure his first fight is his last." He laughs, a strange green light outlining his form.

"You know that bitch?" I don't think Hiei even cares that his opponent is emitting energy.

"Sure do. Everyone who wants revenge on that demon traitor knows her. Better keep the boy under lock and key, human lover. Or Kori's going to tear him apart. Nerve by nerve."

At the last word, Hiei 'teleported' in front of him, the point of his sword against the demon's throat. Instead of looking frightened, he actually laughs.

"You're pretty protective of him, human lover. What does that demon traitor have that you can't live without?" Before giving Hiei an answer, a dark green mist surrounds them, obscuring our view of the fight.

Author's POV:

Hiei keeps his guard up, holding his sword at the ready. The mist prevents him from sensing his opponent. Basically like a mask on demon energy.

This is a foolish move. Does he really think that this is going to scare me? Out from afar, a scream echoes. Hiei perks up knowing that tone. He's heard it before. It was what he heard the night Kurama got kidnapped by Makuro.

"Kurama?" He whispers. The scream repeats itself. "Kurama! Where are you?" Hiei sheathes his sword, working his way through the mist.

The demon grins, seeing how blind his opponent is. "Dragon Flame. Looks like that's your weakness. Maybe Kori was right. Maybe its better for him to be dead." He jumps down in front of Hiei who seems consumed on finding where the voice is coming from. "Maybe its best for you if that demon traitor is killed.

He swings the sword that nearly cut the tip of Hiei's hair. "Son of a-"

"You think I'm that easy to be fooled? This is a child's game and it's not worth my time. If you think you can use Kurama to defeat me…" He unravels the Jagan, gaining more power. "You've got to be dreaming!" His sword gleamed brightly, a spiral of energy surrounding it. "Sword of the Darkness Flame!"

He splits the demon in two without hesitation. The dark mist soon subsides and the audience can see who's dead and who's alive. Team Urameshi lets out a sigh of relief after seeing Hiei standing on the platform with green flames consuming his sword.

"Way to go Hiei!" Yusuke cheers. "Off to the finals we go!"

"Shorty knows his stuff." Kuwabara agrees.

Kurama smiles as he sees the scarlet eyes staring back at him. He gives his demon a smile.

As the team celebrates, Genkai reflects on the fact that the demons this year was fairly easy. Whoever this Korisuishou team is, she didn't like the vibe she's getting from the other demons that knew the leader. Genkai glances up at the balconies seeing the girl Kori again. What is her connection with Yoko Kurama?

175 Years ago:

"Where is it? Where's the treasure?" A follower of Yoko grabbed a woman by the shirt.

"I don't know what you're talking about." The woman answered, her voice trembling with fear, but not for her life.

"Liar. Where is it, or I'll kill you."

"Go on ahead." She smiled. "Then you won't know where it is."

The demon pressed his knuckles against her throat. "You want to try me?"

"Yomi. Stop it." The leader of the group, a legendary thief named Yoko Kurama ordered his team to a halt. "We've searched everywhere, but it's not here. They must be hiding it."

The woman grinned in the demon's grasp. "It's too far away for you to catch. You've come to late."

Yomi growled at her and swung his sword, hearing the drop of the body on the ground.

A pair of dark blue eyes watched as the bandits killed her family and destroyed her home. She wanted to help those who were barely alive, but her mother clearly instructed her to stay away, and never look back.

Present:

"Can't you let it go Kori? I mean it's been nearly 180 years. How can you still remember it?" Natsuki wraps the scarf around his neck and chin.

Kori holds a small pendant shaping a fleur de lis. "No. I don't care if a century has gone by. I will get my revenge."

"Why did they even want that thing?"

Kori remembers her mother telling her that it used to be a king's and that it possesses great worth. "It's priceless Natsuki. That's why." She clips the pendant around her neck and pulls the hood over her head.

"Kori, you know killing Yoko Kurama isn't going to bring them back." The boy whispers cautiously.

"I know. But atleast… it'll give me some peace in mind."
