Kori throws her jacket aside, letting all her demon energy erupt. The rest of the team's breathing becomes heavy, like they're running out of oxygen.
"What is this?" Yusuke pants, not being able to inhale enough air.
"This is Kori's hidden energy. It's supposed to give her an upper hand in battle. However, she hardly ever uses it." Natsuki answers, parrying one of Hiei's attacks.
Yoko grins, crossing his arms coolly. "Hmm… This is an interesting feature. I do quiet like it." A cloud of rose petals appears around him. "Though I must say it's a cheap trick. I bet this uses up a lot of demon energy."
Kori clenches her teeth, gripping the hilt of her sword tighter. "You don't know anything about me!" She charges towards Yoko, slicing the petals attacking her. One managed to get by, slicing her cheek.
The silver haired demon easily avoids her swing. But some becomes too close. The sword is getting closer and closer to his face. "Didn't notice it before because you weren't moving. This move requires a lot of demon energy, I admit, but it slows down the enemy's movements. It gives me full control soon enough."
Whenever Hiei has the chance, he glances over to Yoko, in case he needs help. At least that's what he tells himself. They began the fight four in the morning, and already he can hear the faint chirping of the birds.
"Don't get distracted Hiei." Natsuki jumps up and smashes his sword down. Hiei blocks it but not without some effort. "Worrying about your little boyfriend, dragon flame? You disappoint me. He's done nothing for you!"
Natsuki attempts a stab, but misses. "Nothing for me? You have no idea how much that boy means to me. He maybe just a host to Yoko Kurama to you, but to me…" Hiei lowers his head and his voice is barely audible. "… He's everything to me." He unwraps the bandages on his arm. Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Genkai know he means business. "So, pretty boy, are you ready to see the dragon?"
Natsuki smirks. "Been waiting for a long time." He watches as the dragon emerges from Hiei's arm and bares its fangs at him. The dragon makes a sharp turn and swallows Hiei alive. At first, he stands there with his mouth agape. Then he realizes this is part of his opponent's plan. "You are supposedly the fastest, are you not? Lets see if that's real."
Hiei shakes off the insult. But when he tries to move, it feels like he's lagging. Almost like he's dragging his feet. The hell, he thinks to himself. Up ahead, Natsuki raises his sword and swing it down. Hiei jolts to the left, but not without a slice on his shoulder.
"Damn it. My sword must've slipped." Natsuki grins as he watches the 'all powerful Hiei' paralyzed. "Can't move anymore huh? That's okay, neither can the rest of your friends."
Its only then does Hiei realize Kuwabara, Yusuke, Genkai, and Yoko standing still with their opponents ready to kill them. To make matters worse, his energy suddenly disappeared. He can't feel the dragon or anything. "Aww Hiei. If I remember controlling the dragon takes a lot out of you. And who's going to protect your precious Yoko Kurama when you're asleep."
"Damn you." He gritted. "I will kill you."
"You know what's great Hiei? Kori's special move may take nearly all of her demon energy like yours, but unlike you she doesn't pass out. And, this is my favorite side effect, demon and spirit energy are suppressed until she deactivates it. You know what that means don't you?"
Hiei's eyes widen as he finds Yoko Kurama shining, and it isn't even dawn. The Legendary Bandit soon transforms back into its human host, Kurama.
Kori smiles as she takes steps towards him. She gently touches his cheek, then forcefully grabs his chin. "Has anyone ever told you how delicate you are?" She stabs his sword through his midsection. Kurama coughs up a handful of blood.
"Kori! Don't you dare touch him!" Hiei yells at her. But she only stares back at him with dark eyes.
"Sorry Hiei. But this time, I'm making sure he dies." She shoves the blade further into his body until the tip is visible on the other side. Kori grins wider at the sight of his freshly spilled blood.
Kurama doesn't plan on dying so easily. Without any idea how, he fights off Kori's strange 'energy' and grabs the blade. He pulls it out of his body and yanks it towards him, punching Kori in the face. The surprise attack loosens her grip on the hilt. Kurama now gains possession of her sword.
She growls at him and wipes the blood off her face. "How the hell did you-"
"I'm not dying today Kori. No matter what, I'm not dying."
The female demon wraps her hand around Kurama's throat. She regains her sword, stabbing him in the chest afterwards. "You're dying alright."
Kurama whispers, "And you're coming with me." He transforms back into Yoko Kurama. Immediately does he plant a death seed in her body. He lets the flowers bloom before she gets a chance to react.
As soon as the rest of team Urameshi gets the feel of their limbs again, they finish off their opponents. Since Hiei used up nearly all of his energy by summoning the dragon, Yusuke and Genkai team up against Natsuki and defeat him. But Genkai decides to spare his life, knowing he's just a pawn of Kori.
Juri rushes out into the middle of the stage and exclaims, "The winner is Team Urameshi!" The crowd roars and the victors tower over their fallen opponents.
The girls cheer as the guys stands exhausted on the stage. Kurama staggers back before giving up to gravity. However, Hiei catches him soon enough. The rest of the team crowd around Kurama, Genkai begins tending his wounds.
Yusuke lays a hand on Hiei's shoulder, hoping to help support his friend. "He'll be all right Hiei. He won this tournament for us."
But he doesn't care about the tournament. He cares about the human lying lifeless in his arms. As Genkai heals him, he finally decides on what he wants. "Genkai. Can you do something for me?" His soft, sincere voice makes the human psychic look up at him.
"And what's that Hiei?"
He takes a deep breath as he tells her what to do. He holds Kurama tighter as he speaks and occasionally looks down at him.
"Very well Hiei. Are you sure, though?"
Hiei nods. "Before I take it back."
Yusuke and Kuwabara exchange glances. They've known Hiei for a while and they haven't seen him this soft and sad about anything before. Yusuke stares at Kurama's bloodstained face for a bit. The first person Hiei's truly loved, and now he's doing this? He didn't understand why, but from a demon's perspective, Yusuke knows why.
THREE DAYS LATER:
I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock going off. It's Saturday and a holiday. Unfortunately, I forget to turn it off before I sleep Friday night. My head spins from all the dreams I've been having. The strange dream of a man or a boy. All I see is him; he doesn't smile or talk or make any motion. He stands there and stares back at me as if he's waiting for me. I shake my head, clearing my thoughts. Kurama, you're stressing yourself out. Just relax and think about your day today, I think to myself.
I change my clothes, noticing a blue like pearl around my neck. I don't remember where I got it or who gave it to me. Maybe Koenma did yesterday and I just forgot.
Koenma and I walk around town catching up from the night before. He seems a little distant and I can't help but ask.
"It's nothing Kurama. Somethings are a little complicated today." He answers staring up at the sky.
A boy bumps into before I ask him another question. I glance over my shoulder to see who it is. He looks back. He has red eyes, black hair, and a strange dragon tattoo around his right arm. Red eyes… Dragon…
I've seen him before, but where? Those red eyes, the black hair, the dragon wrapping around his right arm. It seems all too familiar... Where have I seen him before? Where?
*****DUNDUNDUN! It's DONE! Thank you guys so much for reading! This has gotten more success than I hoped and Its all you! So if you were disappointed w/ the ending, if i get enough people to want one, maybe I'll make an alternate ending. But if you didn't catch on on what happened, Hiei asked Genkai to erase Kurama's memories of him and their relationship so he won't get involved with the demon stuff. K? Thank you guys again!
LOVE YOU FOREVER
