My dearest friend Twilight,
I have been thinking long and hard about the letter you sent to me. Things not meant to reach my sister's ears almost always do if shared with anyone in Equestria. I am the only exception to this rule, thus much of the pressure that is placed upon me, and why I do not have very many friends. I was intending to send you back a letter with that warning, and tell you I would not share what I knew, for fear of what it could encite. However, while writing that letter last night, I would have sworn I saw somepony, who I will never really see again... In his memory, and because he would have wanted the world to know the truths in life just like his Father, I will tell you anything you wish to know.
Yes, my sister did die during the Battle of Nightmare Moon. It was several months after the disappearance of my parents and the Battle of Chaos. My generals were working constantly to recruit new troops and train them, and my personal guard, the Priori Nocturnus, had set out to attempt to find my parents. ...I will not go into detail at this time about what transpired between myself and my sister, but I grew very jealous of her. Of the attention she weilded. Of how I kept being pushed out of the light and notice because I was "still too young for such matters". I began to tap into powers I do not understand to this day. Shortly before the return of my guard, I finished turning my soul over to the new power, in exchange for my sister's defeat. My generals followed my guards' lead, and my guards were loyal to me to the end. Three of the four had always hated Celestia anyway, and the fourth felt her to be unworthy to follow in my father's footsteps. Thusly, we set out in battle against my sister and her only remaining general. It was a hard-fought battle, and casualties were heavy on both sides... But we all thought it was over, as the sun at last rose, draining my immense power, dropping me to my knees. Celestia marched across the field, that multi-chromatic mane glistening in the sun, her hooves the only there that day unstained by blood... She stood over me, preparing to pass sentence, and the earth shifted under our hooves.
Forgive me for interrupting the story at what must be it's most climactic point, but I feel I must answer your next question firstly. I did indeed have the four guards that I have discussed up until this point. SkyTear Cascade, Mythrion Kinslayer, Vaetir, and Cappelan. All were very dear to my heart, and none of them will I ever be blessed with greeting again... I was assigned the guard after my attempted asassination/kidnapping at a royal event. The blackards seemed to think that as the youngest, I was the most vulnerable. Three guards from among the Stellar Regiment leapt out of rank in a complete disobedience to orders and attacked my would-be-assailants. My father refused to let them be punished, and instead enstated them as my personal bodyguards.
Cappelan Was my Father's personal advisor, a Longmaw- spawn of a dragon and a pony. I am told dragon ponies were actually very common in other parts of the world once. I distinctly recall a beautiful princess, and the general she left behind... She ended up in the Lunar Army. I digress, however. His job was to watch over the other three, who my father did not trust, and to act as the strategist of the team.
We never knew what race Mythrion was... His mane and tail were made of fire, and his coat the purest black. He loved my night... All of them did, of course, but Myth always called it his parent... He had murdered his entire race, but I never understood why... It almost seemed like it was a whim, or rather a mistake on his part.
Vaetir was a windigo. Yes, like from the stories of the founding of Equestria. He was found as a baby one spring. His parents seemed to have abandoned him... The royal family took him in, hoping to become more powerful through posession of him shortly after my birth. They were unable to keep him away from me, and we became very good friends.
Finally, SkyTear was my best friend... I helped him discover part of his crest. I helped him get past the loss of his Father. And in return, he helped me have a world where I didn't have to live under the pressures of royal expectations. He was the last living Kelpie- a magical race, cursed long before my sister's and my time. My father had hunted them into extinction, considering them too dangerous to live, with their power to be any race they desired, and to control the water. Higher-power Kelpies could even control parts of the world's makeup, such as time, matter, or in SkyTear's case, Entropy. He was immensely powerful, to the point of even being able to take on an Alicorn form when using his full power. He HATED the rest of the family other than myself, though... They had persecuted his father, Corozone Sparkle, and had ruined his life. My father wanted Sparkle's discoveries, particularly the Elements of Harmony. The destroyed castle that you confronted me in is the remnants of a once-great palace that demonstrates the destructive power of the Elements. SkyTear traded the Elements and his own life into lifelong service to the Stellar Regiment, if we would spare his father's life and leave him alone. If you have found Corozone Sparke's book of discoveries... DO NOT share it with my sister. She is like our father, and would never rest until she held the power of everything in that book. It pains me to speak of her so plainly, but she cannot be trusted with such knowledge, for the world's sake.
Now, to return to the original narrative, the earth shook under our hooves. Celestia stumbled, and Skytear burst out of the sky, his knives flying before him. Before any of us could react, he had buried them deep into my sister, all down her neck and flank. She collapsed to the ground, cursing me as she breathed her last... We all were shocked, but turned to go. I started to raise my moon again, when something lit up the sky like colored lightning. We turned back to see the Elements of Harmony floating unaided above Celestia's body, healing her. SkyTear was yelling at them about betraying him, but there was nothing we could do. As soon as she was up, she commanded the elements to begin turning out armies to stone... We could no longer fight with the elements on her side, as she casually froze all of my soldiers, and not one of us could get to her- the elements prevented it...
As you know, I ended up banished to my Moon... As I travelled there, the elements whispered to me that they would never again let my sister weild them. She had failed them and their faith in her. They said that in 1000 years I might return, to try again. Then silence... Just as I touched down, before I blacked out, they told me that my guards were now with me in space- as stars. That they would travel over the thousand years to reach my side and be free. ...But that they were sorry... I would never see my friends again...
I hope this helps you understand better, my last remaining friend. Please, do not think less of my sister for anything I have said- I am likely only a spiteful little sister who is unappreciative of how much has been done for me. I will keep this from her ears, and you will kindly do the same.

Finally! A new chapter! Sorry about the long delays... School's being CRAZY! (is failing at least two classes...) When I *do* write, I've joined an RP group. No worries, though, I'm still working on this story, it is NOT abandoned. :) Hope you all enjoy! I do not own MLPFIM, and I don't have time for lawsuit paperwork right now.
