School the next day was a little odd. It was national fitness day, so the kids were spending most of the day doing activities rather than normal classes. All five of them; Kinley, Stiles, Scott, Allison, and Lydia ended up in a rock climbing session with Coach that morning.

During the class, Scott and Allison filled Stiles and Kinley in on their night during the full moon. Stiles had already told Scott of their adventures at the police station with the Argent, Isaac, and Derek.

"So some giant lizard-thing attacked you?" Kinley whispered to Allison and freaked herself out at the thought of it. Kinley had dealt with some reptile-like creatures before and they were never fun.

"That's what it looked like." Allison replied.

Stiles made a grossed out face as he listened to them.

"McCall and Argent, your next for the wall!" Coach yelled.

"So you and your vast hunter knowledge know what it could be?" Stiles asked her.

"It could be quite a few things." Kinley replied. "There are all sorts of reptile creatures roaming around, camoodis, kurreas..."

"Could it be a dragon?" He asked excitedly.

"No, those don't exist." Kinley replied and Stiles looked disappointed. "They might have been real once, but they aren't around now as far as we know." She consoled him, and it seemed to make him a little happier.

Just then, Kinley saw Allison kick Scott. Then the whole class watched as Scott fell to the ground from the rock wall. "I don't know about you," Kinley said and looked at Stiles, "but his pain brings me a special kind of joy mainly, when it's caused my Allison." Kinley laughed and turned back to face the wall and when she turned, there was coach staring right at her. "Oh sorry I didn't-." Kinley started.

"I knew I liked you, Wesson." Coach said and smacked her on the back quite intensely. Coach then went up and said something to Scott that she couldn't hear.

Kinley felt slightly uncomfortable and Stiles laughed at her.

"Alright, next two. Stilinski and Erica. The wall. Let's go." Coach yelled.

Kinley watched the two of them walk up. Stiles looked eager while Erica looked terrified. Erica was a quiet girl that no one really talked about. She had long bushy blonde hair and pretty bad acne. If she tamed the hair and her face cleared up, Kinley guessed she could be quite pretty. She was also a voluptuous girl that reminded Kinley of a pin-up girl from the 40s, but she hid herself under large sweatshirts and baggy pants. Kinley also found out she was epileptic. If anyone did notice her or talk about her, it was because of her condition and nothing else. Kinley felt bad for the girl. High school was never going to be a fun place for her.

The two began to climb the wall. Stiles made it up and back down easily before Erica even made it halfway. As Stiles began to repel down, Erica began to, for lack of a better word, freak out. She was frozen to the wall and was beginning to cry. Her whole body seemed to be trembling. Stiles got down and looked up at the poor girl.

"Dizzy?" Coach yelled. "Is it vertigo?"

"Vertigo is a dysfunction of the vestibular system of the inner ear." Lydia stated to coach. "She's just freaking out." Lydia added casually as if it didn't matter the girl was having a slight breakdown 5 feet in the air.

"Erica?" Coached called up to her.

"I'm fine." She replied with a shaking voice.

Kinley could tell she wasn't fine. Actually, she could feel it. Kinley's nerves were beginning to go haywire. Her body was shaking like Erica's. What was going on? Kinley tried to calm herself down, but she was having a hard time.

"Coach maybe it's not safe. You know she's epileptic." Allison told coach.

"Why doesn't anybody tell me this stuff." Coach mumbled. "Erica you're fine. Just kick off the wall." He yelled to her.

The yelling was not helping. Erica was becoming more nervous. Kinley needed this feeling to stop.

"Erica," Kinley said loudly, but in as soothing a tone as she could. "There's a mat to catch you. You're perfectly safe." Kinley tried to focus on her breathing to get her heart rate down. Maybe since she was feeling whatever Erica was, Erica could feel whatever she was. It was the same thing she did to Scott to force his change back into a human, just on a lesser scale.

Kinley saw Erica begin to breath more evenly. Erica closed her eyes and let go of the wall. She slowly fell and landed on the mat. Kinley felt normal again. She took a deep breath and hoped that wouldn't happen again. Kinley wasn't even sure what happened but she knew it wasn't a pleasant experience. She was going to have to talk to Deaton about this.

After that, the coach dismissed all of them. He left muttering about being the last to know everything.

The hope of not connecting to Erica or anyone again was dashed pretty quickly. The day went on as usual until she was heading out of school at the end of the day. Kinley was passing the gym on her way to meet Stiles when her body went into a sorta shock like state again. Her breathing was rapid like she was having some kind of anxiety attack and her limbs were trembling. She tried to walk through it, but she couldn't. She couldn't breath. She pushed herself to enter the gym. She hoped no one would be in the large room, and she could gather herself there. However, she saw Erica back on the wall, freaking out again. Somehow she was connected to Erica again. Kinley couldn't stand on her own any longer and leaned against the door. Slowly, she slid down it to her knees.

"Erica, you're fine." Kinley tried to say, but it barely came out as a whisper. Her body began to shake and she couldn't focus. She wasn't strong enough to try and manipulate Erica's emotions this time. Erica's were too strongly connected to her own. Kinley watched as Erica began to seize and let go of the wall. Erica was going to hit the gym floor, and Kinley didn't know if she would feel that too or not. She really hoped she wouldn't.

Just then Scott came running out of the locker room and caught her before she hit the ground. Stiles and Allison, and a few others followed behind him. Stiles looked over and saw Kinley on her knees with her hand over her chest. He could tell something was wrong. Stiles ran to her as Scott dealt with Erica. Stiles reached her and put his hands on her shoulders. Slowly, Erica's panicked feelings dissipated, and she could breathe normally again. She looked over to see if Erica's seizure was over, but it wasn't. Erica was still on her side, shaking. Somehow Kinley separated herself from the girl. She had no idea how.

Shortly after all the craziness, an ambulance showed up. Kinley tried to tell Stiles she didn't need to go to the hospital and that she was fine. He wasn't taking, "no" for an answer. She agreed to go if she just drove herself there and did not get in the ambulance with Erica. Stiles relented to the compromise if he could take her. She agreed, and they left for his jeep and headed to the hospital.

They sat in the waiting room until someone could check her over. Kinley was eventually called to the back, and she told Stiles to wait for her there. She sat in the exam room for a few minutes before Mrs. McCall walked in.

"You're back." Mrs. McCall said when she saw her sitting there.

"You know, that's really not the greeting you want to hear at a hospital." Kinley replied jokingly.

"True, but you wouldn't be greeted that way if you stopped doing whatever it is you're doing to land yourself her every week."

"What can I say, I'm a thrill seeker." Kinley joked. "Today, though this is just a precaution. I had a slight anxiety attack, but I'm fine now." She told Mrs. McCall

"Well, let's get your vitals and have the doctor take a look just to be sure." Mrs. McCall replied and began taking her blood pressure. "Can you think of anything that would cause you high anxiety?" She asked.

Well, yes but nothing I can tell you, Kinley thought. "You know the usual, school, tests, teenager-y angst." Kinley replied.

Mrs. McCall laughed. "Succinct." She replied. "Well, you seem perfectly fine. I will send in the doctor. He should be here in a few minutes and this visit should be over."

"Thanks, my fastest time yet." Kinley said.

Mrs. McCall laughed again as she left the room. Kinley sat in the exam room and waited. After she waited a few minutes, she heard footsteps outside. She thought it was the doctor, but no one walked in. Maybe he didn't know which room, Kinley thought. She got off the exam table and peaked her head out the door. She didn't see the doctor, but she saw Derek leaving a different exam room. She went down the hallway and looked in where Derek came from. There was one person in the room, Erica. Erica was lying on the table with a smile on her face and Kinley could see some blood on her hand.

Kinley turned and ran in the direction Derek went, but it was too late. He was gone. She gave up waiting for the Doctor after that. She knew she was fine. This was enough time here to get Stiles off her back. So she left and went back to the waiting room to get him.

"Everything okay?" He asked.

"Mostly." she replied and then when they got in the car told him about seeing Derek.

Stiles dropped Kinley off at home. It had been a long day and she was happy to be home. She walked in and saw Penn was packing again.

"Hey what's going on?" She asked her cousin.

"Dad and I are leaving in two days. If you want to stay here, you need to find somewhere to stay soon or you'll have to come with us."

Kinley nodded, knowing that was the agreement. It made sense, she was a minor. She couldn't live alone in a motel room forever, but she still had no idea where she was going to stay. She would ask the group tomorrow for ideas. Maybe they knew someone that wouldn't mind a teenage girl living in their house. And if in doubt, she could stay with Stiles and the Sheriff. Kinley knew Sam was not going to be thrilled about that, but it was better than Scott's. At least she was living with a human and not a werewolf. That would ease her uncle's mind a little bit.

"So you decided you're definitely going with him?" Kinley asked.

"Yeah, he promised to try and take a few cases in the same general area as much as he could. So I could stay places longer. I can't let him go alone. You know how he gets." Penn replied.

As Penn spoke those words, something hit Kinley. Kinley had been paying so much attention to the her own changes that happened in Beacon Hills that she didn't noticed Penn's. Penn was standing more confidently, and she didn't seem as hyperactive about little details anymore. Her decision to go was very adult and logical. Penn was thinking of others over herself. She had really grown up in her time here. Kinley was proud of her. Kinley wished she would have noticed the progress and what might have caused it rather than being so wrapped up in her own issues. Regardless, Kinley was happy with Penn's new attitude.

"I'll miss you." Kinley told her.

"I'll miss you too, but we'll talk. You know dad is going to drive me nuts, and you're the only one who will get it when I need to complain." Penn replied and laughed.

"Very true. Where is Sam?" Kinley asked and looked around to see if she missed him.

"He's getting the oil changed in the car. We're going to IL, so it's going to be a long drive. He wants to make sure the car makes it." Penn replied.

Kinley nodded in response.

"Hey, want to have an old fashion Penn and Kinley TV marathon like we used to? We won't be able to for a while." Kinley suggested

"I'd like that." Penn replied and went over to the shelf of DVDs. "Buffy or Charmed?" She asked.

Kinley smiled. "Hmmm...Buffy." She replied.

The next day Kinley went to school with a mission: Find a place to live. However, she would much rather fight a Raksasha right now than have to ask people if she could crash indefinitely. It just made her feel like she needed them and she hated that. She liked being self-sufficient but that was impossible at 16. In world history, both Scott and Stiles offered their houses if they got their parents okay. Kinley was grateful her back-up plans were there for her, but she was still thinking. She left world history and headed to chemistry.

As she walked to her class, she saw Jackson shove Lydia into a wall, and yell something she couldn't quite understand. Jackson then stalked off looking angrier than usual, and Lydia was standing against the wall shaking. Kinley made eye contact with Lydia and then watched as Lydia ran off.

"Lydia, wait!" She yelled, but it was no use. The girl ran toward the girl's bathroom with no intention of stopping.

Kinley was going to leave the girl alone, but Lydia helped her out a lot the other with Stiles the other day, and checking on her was the least she could do. She ran after Lydia and followed her into the girls bathroom. She saw that Lydia had tears in her eyes and was wiping them away as she looked in the mirror.

"Go away!" She yelled.

"What happened?" Kinley asked.

Lydia's eyes then focused on something behind Kinley. Kinley turned but didn't see anything.

"Lydia? Are you okay? Lydia?" She asked. Lydia still just stared behind Kinley as if she was seeing something or someone over Kinley's shoulder, but Kinley checked again and there was nothing there. "Lydia!" Kinley said loudly one last time.

Lydia snapped back into focus. "What?" Lydia asked like she was not just in a trance.

"Are you okay?" Kinley asked.

"Never better. Why?" Lydia replied casually.

"Uh no reason, I guess. I just saw what happened between you and Jackson and thought you might be upset." Kinley told her.

"Oh please, once a jackass, always a jackass. He doesn't phase me anymore. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get to class." Lydia replied and Kinley stepped out of her way.

Kinley would normally think what had just happened was weird, but this was Beacon Hills and this was just another day. She tried to ask Lydia again in their chem class, but Lydia changed the subject. At least she tried, Kinley thought.

Kinley finished the rest of her morning with still nothing new on a place to live. She headed to lunch ready to tell the boys she was going to take them up on their offer. She sat down at their usual table and watched Scott and Stiles walk in. Scott sat across from her, but Stiles walked by the two of them and went to talk to a large African-American boy a few tables behind her. Kinley was pretty sure his name was Boyd. He didn't have many friends and always stayed to himself. She wondered why Stiles needed to talk to him.

"What's he doing?" Kinley asked Scott.

"I never know or ask." Scott replied and shrugged.

Kinley took that answer. Sometimes she didn't want to know what Stiles was up to either. After Stiles talked to Boyd for a few minutes, he came back and sat next to her.

"All set." Stiles told them, and both Scott and Kinley looked at him like they had no idea what he was talking about.

Stiles gave Scott a knowing look, and then it seemed like Scott remembered whatever the hell Stiles was talking about.

"Anyone going to let me in on what's happening?" Kinley asked.

"Don't worry about it. Just be free tonight." Stiles told her.

"Stiles, I hate surprises and I was planning on talking to Deaton tonight." She replied.

"That still works. Go to work with Scott and then the two of you can meet me there." Stiles told her.

"There? Please just tell me. I seriously hate surprises." She pleaded

"No, people only hate bad surprises, and I know you'll like this. So shut it and be ready to go at 8pm tonight. I'll see you both there." He responded and apparently that was the end of the conversation because Stiles moved onto a new topic. "So any news on a place to stay besides with us?" Stiles asked.

"No, nothing yet." She replied. She really didn't know why she was looking elsewhere. Scott, Stiles and Allison were her only options really. And she couldn't stay at the Argents, someone would probably try and kill her in her sleep and blame Scott or Derek for it.

Then Lydia walked up and sat down. "What are we talking about?" She asked.

"Trying to find a place for Kinley to live for the next few months." Stiles replied.

"Oh. You could always stay with me." Lydia replied without even looking up from her food.

They all looked at Lydia with shocked faces.

"What? I'm just offering. She'll probably stay with Allison though." Lydia commented. "They're better friends."

"I actually can't stay there." Kinley told Lydia.

"Well, then all the better to stay with me. I do have a bigger house and have less people coming in and out anyway." Lydia replied. "I mean how big is Allison's family. I feel like I meet a new cousin every day."

"No offense, Lydia, but why are you offering a place for me to stay?" Kinley inquired.

"It's what friends do and you did save my life. It's the least I could do." She replied. This whole conversation seemed to be like no big deal to Lydia. It was as if Kinley was asking to borrow a dress for the night, not asking for a place to live.

"Are you sure? You don't have to ask your mom or anything?" Kinley replied.

"No, I'll just let her know. She'll be fine with it as long as you follow her rules which aren't many." Lydia told her.

"Wow, thanks Lydia, thank you so much." Kinley responded. "I really don't know what to say."

"Don't mention it. Like I said, it's the least I can do." she told her, and then took a bite of her salad.

The boys were still staring at Lydia like she was the crazy creature that had been wreaking havoc and not the girl they had known since third grade. Lydia looked up at them with an annoyed expression and the two boys went back to their food.

"Now, that's settled. What else is happening with people?" Lydia asked

Stiles was about to say something when almost the entire cafeteria went silent. They were all staring at something behind Kinley. Kinley turned and saw a blonde bombshell of a girl. She had legs that never ended, a perfect hourglass figure, long wavy blonde hair, and perfect skin She wore the shortest black leather skirt Kinley had ever seen with leopard print high heels and a black leather jacket. The more Kinley looked, the more the girl looked familiar.

"Erica?" Kinley questioned under her breath.

The girl strutted through the cafeteria like a runway model. She stopped, took one bite of a boys apple, and then kept walking. The boy looked like he was about to faint. Kinley turned back to the table and saw both Scott and Stiles drooling. She rolled her eyes.

"What the holy hell is that?" Lydia asked.

"You took the words right out of my mouth." Kinley replied and she could hear the jealousy in her tone. She didn't like the way Stiles was staring at the new Erica.

Erica left the cafeteria and Stiles, Kinley, and Scott all ran out after her. She turned down a hallway that led outside. They ran to catch up. However, they only made it in time to see her walk out the door and get in the car with Derek and drive off. Of course, Kinley thought, nothing makes a person over like a good werewolf bite to the arm. She was Derek's newest wolf.

After School, Kinley met Scott and they headed to the Clinic. Kinley should have trying to figure out what Derek was up to with his two new pack members but Kinley's mind was focused elsewhere. Through out the day, she kept trying to get Stiles to tell her what was happening after Scott was done with work, but he just ignored her. The whole thing was infuriating. Kinley even pestered Scott a little as they drove to the Animal Clinic. He didn't help either.

Scott and Kinley made it to the clinic and they walked in together. Deaton yelled "Hi" from an exam room in the back. He rattled off some things for Scott to do before he even saw them. Deaton then walked out from the back and noticed Kinley there.

"Oh, I didn't know you brought company with you, Scott." Deaton said.

"I didn't. She said she was coming to see you." Scott replied. Scott said it like he was confused she was here to see Deaton. Scott did know who Deaton was, right? He had to.

"Oh alright." Deaton told him while looking at Kinley. He then turned his gaze back to Scott. "Scott, are you okay on what you need to do?" He asked. Scott nodded. "Kinely, why don't we talk in my office."

Kinley nodded and followed Deaton passed the exam rooms and kennels to a small room in the very back of the clinic. It was just big enough for one file cabinet, a desk, a tall shelf, and two chairs. It was packed full with papers and some very old looking books.

"So what did you want to talk about?" He asked.

"You mentioned my empathic manipulation powers before, but what about just empathic ones. Yesterday, I had a full on seizure because I was connected to some girl, who we're now pretty sure has been changed into a werewolf by Derek." She told him.

Deaton thought for a moment. "You said you had both empathy and empathic manipulation powers?" He asked.

"Yes, but that makes sense right? I just wanted to know how to turn them off because I don't know how I did it earlier."

"Actually, it's not normal. Usually, you get one or the other. You can feel others pain and help them through it by knowing how they feel or you can have the ability to just change their outlook." He told her and then began to mumble things under his breathe. Kinley could just make out the words. Unless...no...that seems unlikely though"

"So, what? Am I more of an anomaly now?" She asked and knew the answered but still wanted to ask.

"I don't know if I would say more. Now there is just more evidence to you being an anomaly."

"Well, that's great. What about stopping the empathic powers? I really don't want to be randomly connected to some guy having a really bad day and go on some kind of rampage." She replied and shivered with horror.

"Tell me what happened." Deaton requested.

"Nothing really. I was on the floor, I was convulsing, like the girl, then Stiles saw me and came over, and then randomly it stopped. That's it." She replied.

"Stiles." Deaton mused. "Did he touch you in anyway?" He asked.

"Uh..." She thought for a moment. "I think so. He put his hands on my shoulders." She replied.

"Hmm." He replied.

"'Hmm.' What 'hmm'?" She asked

"I wonder. I will need to do some research before I get back to you, but I might have a theory." He replied. "Let me look into it, and I will call you." He told her. "Also, since you're having difficulties with your powers, why don't we meet a little more regularly. Maybe I can help you." He offered.

"Really? You would do that?" Kinley replied.

"Yes, there's a catch though. For me to help you figure this out, I need the whole story, which means I need you to talk to Chris Argent." He told her.

"I thought you knew all of that, but couldn't tell me." She replied.

"I think I do, but I need to confirm it. My sources are not always reliable. We can start your training now, but I need to know that you're trying to get the information." He explained.

Kinley essentially wanted both of these things. She just wasn't sure she would ever be able to get anything out of Chris Argent. She wasn't exactly his or his wife's or his father's favorite person. Also, she didn't want to take advantage of Deaton and tell him she could do something when she couldn't. But she couldn't let her powers control her. She needed to control them. So when she ended up in the room with a psycho werewolf, she could do something about it. She knew what she had to do.

"Okay, deal." She agreed.

"Good, I'll call when I have available time to teach." He replied.

"Thank you, Deaton." She said and started to leave but then turned around. "Are you ever going to tell me what or who you are?" She asked.

"In time." He replied.

Kinley groaned and got up. "Cryptic nonsense..." She muttered and heard him laugh as she left the room.

Kinley spent the rest of her afternoon/evening doing homework at the Clinic's front desk until Scott was done with his shift. Scott then drove them to wherever they were going. She had tried to get answers earlier, but now she was going into full interrogation mode. Her anxiety was getting worse, the closer she got to the surprise.

"So Stiles swore you to secrecy?" Kinley asked.

"Yup." Scott replied.

"And who are you more afraid of, him or me?" She asked and crooked an eyebrow.

"Uh, why do you ask?" Scott said nervously and gulped.

"Because I want to know where we're going, and I want to know now." Kinley replied and crossed her arms in determination.

"Seriously." Scott groaned. "Can we please just let him have this one? He worked really hard on this. Please, for him?" Scott replied.

"But I..." Kinley trailed off. She knew it couldn't be anything that bad. It was just her control issues causing the anxiety.

"I swear it'll be fine. He's doing this for you." Scott said.

"Hmm fine. I guess it's only a few more minutes anyway." She huffed and slumped further into the seat of the car with her arms still crossed. Just because she was going to wait and not ask questions, didn't mean she was going to be happy about. .

Scott breathed a sigh of relief. A few minutes later they pulled into a parking lot with very few cars. The building they parked in front of was very large, but they weren't near any of the factories or warehouses. So Kinley had no clue what this building was. Where were they? She saw Stiles' jeep was already there along with Allison's silver sedan.

Stiles appeared at her window before she could get out of the car. He was holding a piece cloth in his hand.

"If you think you're blindfolding me, you have a death wish." She told him with a evil smile and tilted her head.

Stiles looked at Scott for help. "Dude, you're lucky she's here and still doesn't know where we are. Pick your battles, dude." Scott advised him.

Stiles sighed. "Fine, but wait here until I tell you to come in." He told her and then ran into the building.

"Okay..." She said and then waited while the boys went inside. Where was Allison, she wondered.

She then saw Stiles pop his head out the large building's front door and wave her over. She walked to the door and felt cold air seeping through. It made her shiver. Stiles opened the door fully and revealed an ice rink.

"Happy Birthday!" He yelled and so did Scott, Allison, and Lydia. "I also invited your cousin, but she said she was too busy packing, but she wishes you a happy birthday."

Kinley was too stunned for words. "How...how did you even know it was my birthday?" She stammered, still so shocked by what Stiles did.

"Please you've been in enough police reports. It was easy to find out." He replied with a laugh.

"Hah. I should've expected this from Detective Stiles." She said and nudged him in the arm. "So tell me this, how did you know I used to skate?" She asked.

"I cheated." Stiles confessed. "I asked your cousin what you might want to do. She said for every birthday you asked for an ice rink. I will say, I find it funny that the girl who prefers punching people over hugs wanted to be a figure skater in a pretty little skirt." He said and laughed.

"Hey, it is a very physically demanding sport. Why do you think I have perfect balance?" She replied.

"Okay, okay, you made your point." Allison commented. "Can we just skate, please?"

"So you like this. You're not going to kill me?" Stiles asked and moved slightly away in fear she might do something.

"This is great. I hate that everyone knows it my birthday, but this is fantastic." She replied and kissed him on the cheek. He relaxed and let out a breath. "What are we waiting for? Let's get on the ice!" Kinley yelled.

They all quickly put their skates on. Lydia and Kinley helped the boys make sure their skates were tight enough. Lydia used to skate as well, Kinley found out.

Kinley took Stiles hand and led him out on the ice. He moved pretty well for not having skated much. Scott on the other hand, even with werewolf powers, couldn't stay on his own two feet for more than two seconds. Allison stayed with Scott and tried to help him.

Lydia and Kinley separated from the the group and began to skate circles around all of them. Lydia then did a back scratch spin in the middle of the ice. This gave Kinley the itch to see if she could still do anything. Kinley started doing backward crossovers, then stepped out in a crouched position with one leg off the ice. Then she snapped that leg into her knee with it stretched out front and began a sit spin. She did a few revolutions and brought herself back up and then opened herself up to slow down.

Stiles stared at her with his mouth open. She rolled her eyes and just grabbed his hand and pulled him behind her on the ice. They skated a few times around the rink together and just talked. She skated backwards pulling him forward with her. He was getting pretty good as the night went on.

"So you really think a birthday party was necessary even with all the things happening?" She asked him. "Lizard creatures and evil hunters."

"Just because we're caught in the middle of a horror movie doesn't mean we ignore things like birthdays. That's when the bad guys truly win." Stiles joked. The sentiment made Kinley smile.

Stiles and Kinley then saw Scott smack right into the boards and fall flat on his back. Both of them cringed at the sound. Allison skated over to him, helped him up and then led him off the ice. He must have really hurt his head this time. Kinley guessed that werewolf skills couldn't do everything, but he would at least heal quickly.

Stiles and Kinley got off the ice for a break and sat on the bleachers with their skates still on. Lydia was the only one on the ice now. Stiles pulled a reeses peanut butter cup out of his jacket and handed her one of them. They sat there and continued to chat.

As they talked, Kinley noticed Lydia on the ice. She was on one knee looking at something. She seemed fine, but Kinley kept watching her. Lydia began to examine the ice more closely and then out of nowhere, she began to scream. Kinley and Stiles leaped off the bleachers and skated quickly over to her. They tried to move her, but she was frozen to the ice, just screaming. Kinley felt waves of fear, but even without her empathic powers, she would know that Lydia was scared out of her mind.

Scott and Allison burst through the doors to the rink. Kinley and Stiles looked up at them hoping they might know what to do, but they had no idea either. Eventually, Lydia calmed down, but it took a while. They sat on the ice with her for at least 15 minutes before she finally stopped screaming and sobbing. Allison ended up taking her home once they got her off the ice. Stiles offered to take Kinley as usual, so Scott went to see if he could find Derek to answer some questions about what might be going on with Lydia.

Stiles dropped Kinley off at the motel. This would most likely be her last night here. She waved goodbye to Stiles and watched him drive off. She walked into the motel room. It was dark and the only light source was from candles on a cake.

"Happy Birthday!" Sam and Penn shouted.

"Guys, what's this?" She asked. "I already got a surprise, which you knew about." She said to Penn in an accusatory tone.

"I know, but we had to do something. We always do." Penn replied ignoring Kinley's obvious annoyance at her cousin.

Kinley walked over to the kitchen area and hugged her cousin and uncle.

"Okay, sappy, blow out your candles." Penn told her.

Kinley went up to her cake and blew out her candles. She heard Penn say, "Make a wish." in the background. The only wish she could think of was for everyone to be safe. If that happened, she would be eternally grateful. Her cousin and her uncle clapped when the last candle went out. She smiled and looked up at the two of them.

She was going to miss them terribly when they moved. They had been her whole world for years. She only had a few family memories that did not include them, and all of those were with her parents when they were alive. Other than that, they were her friends and her family. She didn't know how she was going to do this without them. She tried to push these nostalgic thoughts out of her head in order to enjoy her birthday with her family and have one last family party.

The group ate cake and talked for the next few hours around the kitchen table. They reminisced about past cases and embarrassments in a way only a family a could. Kinley loved every minute of it.

"Oh you have to open your present." Her uncle told her.

"You didn't have to get me anything." Kinley replied.

"Technically, I didn't." He responded and took out a small box wrapped in green shiny paper. "You were supposed to get this on your 18th birthday, but I thought it was appropriate now since you're striking it out on your own so to speak." He said and handed her the box.

Kinley took the box and ripped off the paper to find a small white box. She took the top off and inside was a necklace. It was a thin silver chain with a 2 small silver pendants on the end. She examined the pendants. One was three swirls connected and together and the swirls formed a triangular shape. The second one was 5 circles. Four were connected in a square pattern with the fifth in the center connecting all the circles together. She looked up at her uncle for an explanation.

"The triple spiral represents the maiden, mother and crone. It is a female power symbol especially for growth and transition. Then the other one is five-fold. It represents balance. The four circles represent the elements and the fifth one is there to connect them all in hope of keeping all the elements balanced. It was your mother's. I was saving it, but I thought this was the perfect time to give it to you . You're ready for it now." He explained.

Kinley held it in her hand and couldn't believe she was holding something she remembered her mother wearing. She had her mom's claddagh ring, but she never saw her mom actually wear it. It just sat in her jewelry drawer. This necklace however was always around her neck for as long as she could remember. Kinley put the necklace and suddenly felt stronger than she ever had before.

"Thank you." Kinley told him and gave him a hug. Those two words sounded stupid for a gift that was so perfect, but it was all she had.

"You're welcome." He replied. "But I think it's time for bed. We have an early morning of driving tomorrow and you have school." He told the girls.

The next morning, they said their goodbyes fairly quickly that since none of them wanted to be overly emotion about it. They were usually a pretty stoic family. They would also talk and keep in touch. So this wasn't really goodbye. However, it was still hard to watch them drive away. Kinley kept an eye on the car until it was too far to see. As the car finally disappeared down the street, Kinley refocused her thoughts to getting all of her stuff to Lydia's.

Lydia had told her at the rink that her mother would hire someone to go and get Kinley's things and set her up in one of the bedrooms. Kinley said it was unnecessary, but Lydia obviously ignored her. So Kinley waited around early that morning for the movers to pack up a small truck and take it over to Lydia's. Of course, they didn't get everything. Kinley had to do one last sweep to get the a few things the movers undoubtedly missed because they were hidden. Mostly they were weapons, which she would now keep in her car. She didn't want to scare Lydia or her mom in anyway by having them in the house. So Kinley packed those last couple of things up after the movers left and headed to Lydia's before school.

Lydia answered the door and led her upstairs to her room. It was the room right next to Lydia's pretty purple flower decorated room.

"Here we are." Lydia said and then opened the door. "My mom asked me what you liked and she tried to fill it with things you'd want."

Kinley stepped into her first ever real bedroom. She had always shared one since she could remember. The room was a decent size with a queen bed, a desk, some shelves, and a set of drawers. There was also a closet with white doors in the left corner. The room was decorated mostly in a forest green with leaf patterns around the room. It kind of looked like a forest especially with the wooden four-poster bed in the middle. Kinley dropped her stuff and sat on the bed. It was the most comfortable thing she had ever sat on.

"Lydia, this is beyond anything I could think of...thank you." She said.

"We try." Lydia replied. "My mom will be happy you like it. The only rules are; no drinking, no drugs, and if you're going to be out late, be quiet coming back in. It's only courteous. If she can know in advance that you won't be home or that you'll be our all hours that would be appreciated, but she understands crazy schedules. She wants me to grow up to be independent. She thinks by giving me space that will happen. I just love it because I can do what I please. All that sound reasonable?" Lydia asked,

"More than reasonable." Kinley replied.

"Great. Let's get to school then." Lydia told her and then left Kinley's room.

Kinley drove to school and couldn't believe how lucky she was. She even felt so grateful that she almost forgot about all of the bad that came with this town. However, she was pulled from the clouds and reminded of that quickly when she arrived in world history and caught up with the boys. They had some chit chat about Kinley's new living space, but there was much more important problem to discuss, Erica.

"So you're going to talk to Erica today?" Kinley asked. "See if she knows who Derek's targeting next."

Scott nodded. "Yeah, and hopefully we can get to them before Derek does. We don't need anymore werewolves running around."

"Truth." Kinley replied.

The class began and the day went on. Kinley checked in periodically with Scott and Stiles to see if either of them talked to Erica. After 3rd period Scott said he talked to Erica, but it was no use. Erica had no useful information. So they said they would regroup at lunch and see what they could come up with.

On her way to lunch, Stiles grabbed her arm and dragged her faster to the cafeteria.

"Hey, that's attached you know." She told him.

"Just come on. I think I know who Derek is going after." Stiles replied.

Stiles pulled her into the cafeteria. Scott was sitting alone at a table with his back to Allison. Both of them looked over interested in their food but their lips were moving. They must have been discussing something.

Stiles pulled her next to Scott and spoke, "Scott, do you see that?" Stiles then pointed to a table.

"What? It's an empty table," Scott replied.

"Yeah, but whose empty table?" Stiles asked.

"Boyd." Scott replied.

When Kinley heard the name it made sense. He was another loner with very few friends who would mostly benefit from the bite. Boyd had to be Derek's next target.

The three of them left the cafeteria to discuss their next move.

"I'll go by the rink and see if he's there." Scott told them. "And if he's not at home, you call me, got it?" Scott added to Stiles.

Kinley and Stiles nodded, agreeing with Scott's quick and simple plan. They left the hallway to go to their next class. It seemed like everything was decided until Stiles paused and looked hesitant about the plan.

"What?" Kinley asked.

"Ah...maybe we should let him." Stiles replied. "Boyd, you know, man? You see Derek's giving them a choice, right?"

"We can't." Scott answered.

"You gotta admit, Erica looks pretty good. You know the word, "sensational" comes to mind." Stiles told them.

Kinley felt a twinge of jealousy when he said this. She glared at him for it, but she quickly cleared the glare from her face so he wouldn't notice. It's not like they were together. Nothing had happened since that one night he kissed her and ran and they never talked about it. And they went to the dance together and it seemed like something, but again, they never discussed it. She had no right to be jealous. If he liked Erica, then that was okay, Kinley tried to convince herself. It was harder than she thought it would be.

"How do you think she's gonna look with a wolfsbane bullet in her head." Scott replied.

"All right, all I'm saying is maybe this one's not totally your responsibility." Stiles tried to convince Scott.

"They are." Scott said. "And you know this thing's gonna get out of control and that makes me responsible."

"And me. The hunter just can't allow new werewolves to be made. Scott has proven he can handle it. They might not and the Argents won't hesitate, especially Gerard. These kids will die if they're discovered, and it also gives the Argents more reasons to want Derek and Scott dead," Kinley said.

"All right, I'm with you guys," Stiles agreed. "I've also gotta say this. Your new found heroism is making me very attracted to you." He said to Scott. "And I blame you for this." He told Kinley.

"Shut up." Scott told him.

Kinley didn't know how to respond. Was that a compliment, and insult or just one of his usual sarcastic comments? Kinley decided it was best not to know.

"No, seriously do wanna try making out for a sec?" He said to Scott. Scott ignored him and shoved him down the hall. "Just to see how it feels." Stiles added after he got shoved.

Kinley laughed at the idiot. The comment about her had to be just be a part of bit. It made the most sense.

At the end of school, Kinley met Stiles at his jeep and they went to Boyd's. Stiles raced there as fast as he could. None of them wanted to wait until the end of the day, but with Gerard as the principal, they needed to make more careful decisions and only miss school when absolutely necessary. Gerard has also recently installed video cameras all over and could see them anywhere. They needed to be careful about how they looked and who they talked to. Who knows what he was putting together by reviewing the tapes.

Stiles and Kinley got to Boyd's house and jumped out of the jeep and ran to the door. Stiles knocked on it, but it looked like no one was home. They yelled Boyd's name, and said who they were, but still no answer. Kinley tried to look through the windows, but they were covered. They turned to head back to the car and didn't make it a step because Erica was right there in their way.

"Oh wow." Stiles mumbled nervously.

Erica giggled at Stiles flustered state. Kinley just wanted to punch her in the face.

"What are you doing here, you two?" Erica asked.

"Uh, nothing, I was just looking for, um..." Stiles stammered.

"We were looking for Boyd." Kinley said and glared at Erica.

"Yeah, yes, Boyd." Stiles agreed. He sounded like a buffoon when he spoke.

Kinley rolled her eyes at him. Did this girl really look that hot? It was just a little make-up and tighter clothes. It was still just Erica. Erica then looked at Kinley with a mischievous smirk and then back to Stiles. Kinley didn't like that look.

"You know what you're doing right now, that's kinda funny?" She asked Stiles and then quickly glanced at Kinley to see her reaction. Kinley remained stoic and just kept a steady glare at the new werewolf girl.

Stiles shook his head nervously to Erica's question.

"You're only looking in my eyes." Erica said and then moved to prove that Stiles eyes would follow her.

"That's funny?" Stiles asked with a nervous lilt to his voice.

"Well, yeah." Erica told him. "Because it's that kind of look when you're trying not to look anywhere other than my eyes, but you want to, don't you?" Erica asked in an overly flirty tone. She then stepped closer to him as she said the last sentence. "You want a nice, long, hard, look" Each word came out slow and languid.

Heat was rising in Kinley as Erica continued flirting with Stiles. She loathed this girl. She couldn't believe she felt sorry for her just a couple of days ago. It was taking all her energy not to knock her out right there.

Stiles just stood there nervously fidgeting and still looking only at Erica's eyes.

"Not really, no." Stiles said and tried to sound convincing, but he completely failed.

"Oh. So, it's just my eyes?" Erica asked and stared up at him with her big doe eyes. It made Kinley sick.

"Yes. You have beautiful eyes." Stiles told her.

Kinley took a step forward to get in between the two. Stiles moved his hand to keep her back. She did as he wanted and didn't move forward, but if Erica pushed her much further, she didn't care what Stiles wanted. This bitch was going down.

"I have beautiful everything." Erica responded and placed a finger on Stiles and drew a straight line down his chest.

Oh that was it, Kinley thought. She moved forward and nailed Erica in the jaw. Erica stumbled back, but only her lip was bleeding. Other than that she was fine. Kinley tried to grab Stiles and pull him away with her.

"Where do you think you're going?" Erica asked and stepped in Kinley's way.

"Away from you, you crazy bitch." Kinley spat back.

"I don't think so." She said and Kinley froze. Erica then held up a piece from Stiles engine. "You're having car trouble."

Kinley went for the punch, but Erica ducked and got a hold of Stiles' wrist. She spun Stiles into her and had her claws to his neck.

"One move and he's done." She said.

"Alright." Kinley relented. "What do you want?"

"For you to stay out of the way." She said and hit Stiles in the head to knock him out.

"Stiles!" Kinley shouted and went to grab him before Erica let him hit the ground.

"Oh he'll be fine." Erica replied. "As long as you don't follow me." She warned and then did a swift turn and ran off.

Kiley turned to back to check on Stiles and his head was bleeding. She debated on bringing him to the hospital, but she wasn't sure how she was going to explain a head wound to the hospital staff, especially if Scott's mom was working. Also, the group of them had been in and out of that ER too much lately. Kinley decided to take him to Deaton's. The animal clinic was also closer anyway and since they didn't have a car, getting him there was going to be a feat.

Kinley slumped Stiles over her shoulder. He mumbled something, but she didn't understand it. He was luckily conscious enough to not put all his weight on her, and they slowly made their way to the Animal Clinic.

By the time they got there, it was dark and Kinley was exhausted. There were two cars outside which made Kinley nervous. Normally, it was just Deaton's car. No one was ever here this late at night. As she got closer to the clinic, she recognized the car. It was an Argent SUV. Now Kinley had to be extremely careful.
