Inside the cafeteria, Kaiya suddenly disappeared from Father Nightroad's side. It took him a couple seconds to realize that she was no longer at his side and looked around and saw her over on the other side of the cafeteria piling a tray full of food before limping to a table and instantly devouring the food that could have fed Able three times over. Leon laughed and took another swig of his Vodka before walking over to grab himself some food and sit next to her and Abel followed.
"You're pretty quick on your feet," Leon smiled to Kaiya as he ate his own food.
"I've had hardened bread for the past eight years, I'm not going to pass up on free food," Kaiya spoke through a mouthful of food. "I'm not that slow even with a lame leg. So who is this Vaclav guy that is supposed to be getting me a weapon today?"
"Vaclav Havel, Codename Know Faith, ability to camouflage myself whenever I please." Abel jumped as Vaclav appeared right behind Kaiya. "Honestly, Father Nightroad, you should be used to me appearing at random times."
"Dear motherfucking god…!" "Why the fuck would you do something like that when somebody is trying to eat?! Air… I need… air…" Everyone stiffened when suddenly Kaiya fell forward onto the table next to her tray of food, gasping for air before it became silent.
"Kaiya…?" Abel frowned and touched her shoulder. "Kaiya…"
"You killed her…" Leon hiccupped as he stopped mid-drink.
Suddenly, Kaiya spun around and punched Vaclav in the gut and he started to fall forward with a grunt, but Kaiya wasn't finished. She then swung upward and hit him in the jaw, making him fall backwards and he hit his head on a chair behind him as he fell to the ground. Then as if nothing happened, Kaiya sat back down and continued eating.
"You could have made me choke to death," she muttered coldly.
"She throws quite a punch," Leon laughed heartily. "I don't think anyone has ever put Vaclav on his ass before, especially just for him appearing behind them."
"Maybe he'll learn his lesson now," Kaiya smirked.
"You're definitely strong for being imprisoned for almost a decade," Vaclav muttered as he slowly got to his feet. "Finish eating then we'll go over to the training grounds to find your strong suit of weapons and abilities."
The young girl became quiet as she picked at the last of her food. They all finished around the same time and Leon grabbed all the trays and went to take them to the kitchen as Abel helped Kaiya stand up and they followed after Vaclav. They were almost to the training area when Leon caught back up with them, smiling.
"If you beat Vaclav up just for scaring you, I am curious to see what will happen when he is figuring out what weapon specialty you have," Leon laughed. "Abel, wanna bet on it?"
"No, I only have four coins left until next month's wages," Abel laughed nervously as he scratched the back of his head.
"Well that sucks, you need to go ask Caterina for a raise."
"I've tried many times, but no luck."
"If you two are going to stay, then you need to be silent," Vaclav interrupted them as they entered the large training area.
Weapons were across one wall while training dummies were across another wall. The third wall was just windows facing a lake, and the last wall had several doors leading into the male and female locker rooms. Kaiya stood in the middle of the room and looked around with a look on her face that Abel couldn't read. It was as if she was amazed and also scared.
"Yo, chickie, nothing is going to hurt you in here," Leon frowned as he sat near the windowed wall. She didn't seem to pay attention to him as she turned to the wall of weapons and limped closer, her eyes focused on the center of the wall, focused on the long blades. "Kaiya…"
"Be quiet, this is how some new AX members choice their weapons, or rather their weapon chooses them," Vaclav spoke quietly. She raised her hands and let them hover over the wall before her hands closed on two long blades and lifted them off the wall. "Duel-wielder… that has not happened for many years. Kaiya, are you sure?"
"They were singing…" Kaiya's voice faded as she looked up at Vaclav. "Did none of you hear it?"
"No, but for blade wielders, I have heard of their weapons calling out to them. It is why they are some of the best fighters. They are fast and are in sync with their weapons. What do you feel from the blades?" Vaclav asked as he stood in the center of the room.
"They are humming, as if they were content… This is creeping me out," Kaiya frowned.
"They have accepted you. Come, let us train you in how to use them." Kaiya limped towards Vaclav, the tips of the two swords almost touching the ground as she moved.
