(Our Taiga Can't be This Cute!)
Chapter 13
Our Taiga and Summer Vacation Part II
Aftermath and Recovery
The police had gone to handle and arrested the kidnappers as the lead detective took Kagami and Aomine's statement about what happened. Kagami's father and Aomine's parents were there, standing beside their respective sons. Kagami could feel his father's hand was shaking as he put his hand on Kagami's shoulder. Kagami knew how much his father worried about him. They called for EMT and went to the hospital to check on the wounds on Kagami and Aomine. None of the wounds were too serious, just a lot of bruising on their body and rope burns on the wrists and ankles. Kagami was slightly dehydrated but it was quickly taken care of.
The rest of the night was spent to take care both victims. Midorima listened to every word the doctor said to make sure both Kagami and Aomine didn't do anything stupid. Akashi was talking to both Aomine's parents, explaining the situation. Apparently, the kidnappers were seeking for ransom money from their family, and the police had managed to catch them before they could run away.
Kagami sighed as he sat beside Aomine after he got his wounds taken care off with a few bandages on his wrists, head, and arms. Aomine was in the same condition. Beside them, Riko and Hyuuga stood guard in case there was another kidnapper trying to continue the crime.
"Tai-chan, let's go home now," his father came and helped his son to stand up gently. "Are you okay now?" his father asked.
Kagami nodded slowly and smiled. "Yeah, I'm okay." He turned to Aomine and smiled brightly at the blue haired boy. "Thank you, Ahomine."
Aomine smirked and nodded as he watched Kagami being led away by his father. Aomine sighed as he looked at both his parents.
"Let's go home as well, Daiki," his mother said gently and hugged her son tightly. "I was really worried about you…"
"Yeah… sorry, Mom," Aomine sighed as he awkwardly hugged his mother.
As both Aomine and Kagami's family left the hospital, the host club members decided they would leave as well for the night. Akashi was being silent as he saw the bruises on Kagami and Aomine, and if he was a lesser man, he would send someone to kill every single kidnapper. But Akashi knew better to torture them slowly in the prison. It was easy for him.
The night ended well for them, but problems brewing and ready to explode.
"I knew I should've let you come back to America, Tai-chan. This, this won't happen if you just agreed to come with me," Kagami's father sighed as they got into the car that would bring them back to Kiyoshi's house. "I should've known this would happen to you!"
Kagami sat in silent on the backseat, looking out of the window.
"Tomorrow I'll book some tickets for us, you can meet your friends to say good bye," his father said. "If it wasn't for Hyuuga and Riko being there, I don't know what would happen to you and that Aomine's boy. I know I would be more relaxed knowing you are safe with me. You know I can't lose you too, Tai-chan."
Kagami felt his heart clenched as he looked at his father through the reflection on the cold glass against the darkness outside. Even after losing his mother, Kagami knew his father was doing his best to be a father for Kagami. He let Kagami moved to Japan, thinking it would be the best for his son, but deep down, Kagami knew how much his father wanted to spend time with him, living together like a real family.
"I don't think… I want to leave…" Kagami mumbled softly as he was still looking out of the window.
"I know it was a mistake sending you here, Taiga. I thought you would be safe, but apparently not. I don't want you to get hurt like this again," his father said.
"You're the one sending me here. I felt at home in America, but you said I will be safer in this country… And now, after I'm starting to make this country a home, you wanted to take it away from me again," Kagami said bitterly.
"Enough. I don't want to argue about this anymore. You'll moving back to America. This is your last summer here in Japan; after the holiday is over we're going back. I think the whole summer would be enough for you and your friends, right? It's not like you would never meet each other again," his father said.
Kagami didn't say anything as he was too tired to argue right now, and he knew his father wouldn't change his mind.
Kagami spent the next day replying the mail that came through his phone like crazy from the host club members and Momoi. His father had some business to attend to and had to go back to America, leaving Kagami in Kiyoshi's house, this time along with Kiyoshi himself, Himuro, Hyuuga, and Riko. Kagami spent his day on the bed while Himuro being fussy making sure he rested well and ate his food (though he didn't need to be reminded to eat his food since he always eat it).
Kagami got up from his bed and walked out of the room only to find Riko holding a knife with blood all over her clothes.
"What are you doing, Kagami-kun? You're supposed to be sleeping on your bed," Riko scolded him.
"Uh… what are you doing?" Kagami asked as he looked at Riko appearance. Did she just murder someone right now?
"Cooking of course," Riko answered innocently.
Kagami sweat dropped at the answer. Riko was more suitable holding a combat knife than kitchen knife. Even though she was still young, only a year older than Kagami, the brunette had undergo a hard training and now she was practically the head of security in Kagami household.
"You should've told me. I can help you," Kagami sighed, dreading about what kind of food they would eat after this.
"You have to rest, Bakagami! Besides, I still haven't forgiven you! How dare you just call me 'Riko', huh? Use honorific when you're talking to someone older than you!" Riko went ahead and smacked Kagami's head hard.
"Ow! I'm still recovering…!" Kagami pouted.
Riko rolled her eyes as she pushed Kagami back to his room. "Just get back in your room."
Kagami pouted as he went back to his room, but Riko stopped him before Kagami got any further.
"Your friends will come to visit later," Riko said to Kagami.
Kagami nodded, feeling happy slightly. No matter how annoying his friends were, Kagami still enjoying being with them.
Kuroko was the first one to arrive; he brought some movies for Kagami to watch on the bed in his room because he figured the red head must not walk around too much. He was glad he could find some good movies that he thought Kagami might enjoyed.
"How are you feeling now, Kagami-kun?" Kuroko asked softly as he sat beside Kagami's bed.
"Better. But Riko-san and Hyuuga-san still keep me on the bed," Kagami pouted unhappily.
"Well, you still have wounds all over your body," Kuroko said gently. "I was just from Aomine-kun's place, and he is just like you, restrained on his bed. He might not be able to visit you today."
"Is he okay?" Kagami asked, feeling worried. Aomine was surely took a lot of beaten yesterday, and Kagami couldn't help being concerned by his condition. He was glad Aomine didn't fracture any ribs or something else.
"Well, he's okay. He kept complaining all the time, but he's okay," Kuroko smiled and patted Kagami's shoulder gently. "By the way, I didn't see your father…?"
"He went back to America. Something urgent came up," Kagami shrugged.
"More important than his son?" Kuroko lifted his eyebrows.
Kagami snorted as he looked at the bag in Kuroko's hand. "What's that?" Kagami asked, quickly changing the topic. He didn't want to tell Kuroko about what his father said last night.
"Movies. I brought some with me since I thought Kagami-kun will feel bored being bed ridden," Kuroko said simply. "I planned on sleeping over tonight, if you don't mind," Kuroko showed his backpack to Kagami.
"It seems like even if I minded it, you will still sleeping over," Kagami sighed.
"Of course, Kagami-kun," Kuroko smiled and patted Kagami's head gently.
Kuroko showed him all the movies he brought along. They talked about it for awhile. Kuroko sighed when Kagami quickly put all the horror ones in different stack. Kagami was still afraid of ghost.
"Oh? I heard you talk to someone, Taiga?" Himuro asked as he stepped into Kagami's room with a tray of food in his hand.
"Hello," Kuroko gave a short nod.
"Oh! Kuroko-kun! I didn't know you're here…!" Himuro jumped in surprise. "I'm here to bring your food, Taiga," Himuro said. He set the tray on Kagami's bedside table and smiled.
"Did Riko-san cook this?" Kagami asked suspiciously.
"Of course not. Tanaka made this one. Junpei and Teppei ate Riko's food, they both still unconscious now," Himuro sighed softly. "I'll get some refreshment for you too, Kuroko-kun." Himuro walked out of the room.
"Riko-san…? Junpei-san…?" Kuroko looked at Kagami in confusion. He hadn't met both of them yet.
"They're some kind of bodyguards for my family…" Kagami said as she scratched his head. "They came to save me and Aomine yesterday."
Kuroko nodded as he looked at the bandages that were still wrapped around Kagami's wrists and head. This was the second time he saw Kagami was hurt and covered in wounds and bruising. His heart clenched tightly, since Kuroko knew he was not strong enough to protect Kagami. Deep inside, he felt jealous of Aomine (who clearly did his best to protect Kagami), Murasakibara, Midorima, or Kise with their big body that can protect their precious Kagami. Even Akashi could do that in his own way. Sometimes, Kuroko felt rather useless when it came to this kind of thing.
"Something is on your mind, Kuroko?" Kagami asked as he ate his food quickly.
"It's nothing, Kagami-kun," Kuroko smiled and patted Kagami's hair gently. Kagami gave his angelic smile to Kuroko that made his heart skipped a beat. And Kuroko could feel it. Now he could say it to Kagami. "Kagami-kun, I have something to tell you…" Kuroko said slowly.
"Hm? What is it?" Kagami asked as he looked at Kuroko curiously.
"Actually… I always l—"
Before Kuroko could finish his sentence, the door opened once again and Himuro was there, bring a tray of drinks while being followed by five different colored heads. Akashi, Midorima, Murasakibara, Kise, and even Aomine (still having bandages just like Kagami) had come to visiti Kagami.
"Kagamicchi~! How are you? Are your injuries still hurt?" Kise asked as he threw himself to hug Kagami.
"Ryouta, stop that. Taiga is still eating," Akashi scolded the energetic blond, making Kise let go of his hug.
"Aomine-kun, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in bed and resting right now?" Kuroko asked Aomine.
"I got bored, so I came here," Aomine yawned as he climbed up the bed and rested beside Kagami. "Ah, this is better."
"Mine-chin, you're bothering Kaga-chin now… Off the bed~" Murasakibara protested.
"Oi, oi, I was hurt too!" Aomine said as he settled down there instead.
"Aomine-kun is only bothering Kagami-kun," Kuroko said calmly.
Before Aomine could protest, Kagami smiled brightly. "I don't mind it. And this idiot really needs to rest."
Aomine smiled smugly as his eyes fell on the pile of films Kuroko brought along. "Oh, movies… you have a naughty ones here?" Aomine quickly looked at the titles, hoping to find porn or something.
"Aomine-kun, Kagami-kun is not a pervert like you," Kuroko said calmly.
The other host club members quickly got fussy on choosing the movie they wanted to watch, even Akashi and Midorima who was busy giving input about what to watch. Kagami turned his head towards Kuroko.
"So, Kuroko, you were saying…?" Kagami asked about Kuroko's unfinished sentence.
Kuroko sighed and smiled softly. "I'll tell you another time, Kagami-kun," Kuroko said.
Kagami blinked and just nodded.
They ended up watching horror. Before Kagami could stop them, Kise had put on the DVD without Kagami knowing what they would watch. So, Kagami sat on the bed, looking confused with Aomine beside him. Kuroko had taken place on the other side of Kagami while Midorima sat on the chair where Kuroko was sitting. Akashi settled down on empty space on the bed while Murasakibara and Kise were sprawling on the floor.
"So, what are we watching?" Kagami asked.
"Hmm… Something called 'School Night Story'-ssu," Kise said as he read the title on the box.
"Wait, wait, wait…! It's horror?! Why in the world are we watching horror?!" Kagami yelled angrily.
"Hush, Bakagami, just watch," Aomine growled.
Kise got up and closing the blinds on the window and also the lights, making the source of light only came from the TV. Kagami shivered and curled up in fear, closing his eyes not wanting to watch. Aomine quickly realized it as he gave Kagami his pillow to cover his eyes at each scary scene. The movie was good, and the jump scare made everyone screamed in horror while Kagami was whimpering and covered his face until the movie ends.
"Well, that was really scary-ssu~!" Kise grinned in satisfaction as he opened the blinds again. It was already dark outside. "Wait, Kagamicchi… are you okay?" Kise looked at Kagami full with concern.
The red head was still curling up in fear. And without realizing it, he was already clung onto Aomine desperately with teary eyes. The boys took a moment to marvel at how cute Kagami looked like when they realized what had happen.
"Taiga, are you afraid of ghost…?" Akashi asked slowly.
Kagami looked up and pouted. "Well, what if I am?!" he asked angrily. He rubbed his eyes and sat up on the bed. "I was trying to tell you, but you guys seemed to like the movies… At least Aomine was kind enough to give me a pillow to cover my eyes."
Aomine was smiling smugly as he looked at his club mates, as if he did the most awesome thing in the world that made him felt really proud.
"Sorry, Kaga-chin," Murasakibara mumbled childishly and got up to give Kagami his bear hug gently. "Here have candies…" Murasakibara shared his candies with Kagami which made the red head smiled happily at the gesture.
"Thank you so much, Murasakibara," said Kagami.
A knock came from the door as Kiyoshi stepped into the room. He was still looking slightly pale, probably from eating Riko's cooking. "Guys, dinner is ready, and don't worry, it is Tanaka who prepared it," Kiyoshi said before Kagami could say anything.
They went to eat their dinners, Kagami insisting he would join them in the table since he got sick of being on the bed. He argued that Aomine was allowed to join the table, so he should as well. The dinner was weird since all the host club members trying to take care of their Kagami, even the still injured Aomine.
In the end, all of them were having a sleep over in Kagami's room after they did a marathon of Disney movies as Kagami requested.
The night went on without much problem, and for now, Kagami didn't have to think about his father's plan.
