Chapter six:End of the line.
Day 70: Floor 78
Arashi grabbed his blade and sped towards the lone man and aimed his blade at the man's throat, and found exactly what he was hoping for. A purple hexagon barrier stopped Arashi's blade and above the man's head was the words 'Immortal Object'.
"I found you, Takehiko Kamigawa." Arashi said this as he looked at the man with any emotion. The man smiled slightly.
"Yes you have." Takehiko said this with a smirk and Arashi jumped back, his eyes glaring at the games producer. Kirito stood up.
"Everyone out of here now!" Kirito yelled this and instantly people started teleporting out. Takehiko raised an eyebrow, and soon only Arashi, Egil, Risa, Asuna, Hakuto, Klein, Leafa and Kirito were left with Takehiko.
"I am surprised you found me out. Tell me how if you would." Takehiko said this as he changed his equipment, to one of dark colored armor, with a small shield gauntlet. 'The Dark Sword Style. How fitting that the Dark Knight is the end of the line.' Arashi thought this as he took a deep breath,
"We figured you would do the same as Heathcliff in the original. You have kept you HP from hitting red to keep yourself from dying, and to hide yourself. Yet during this boss fight. Everyone's HP hit red...except yours." Arashi said this as he tightened his grip on his blades. Everyone in the room except Takehiko was tensed.
"So what now. Are all of you going to fight me? A group effort I presume is your plan. System set pain absorber to level four." Takehiko said this as his eyes darted to each player, spending the longest time on Risa. Arashi scoffed.
"No. Its just going to be me. I am going to fight you, alone." Arashi said this and Risa gasped.
"No! Matsa you can't! Hakuto move!" Risa yelled this and tried to rush forward but Azure intercepted her. Everyone had a look of sadness in there eyes that Risa saw. "No...it can't be..." Risa said this as Arashi sighed.
"Risa...don't interfer. I decided I would shoulder this burden a while ago. Thank you for being by my side...I will see you on the other side." Arashi said this without looking back. "Hakuto, Kirito...If this doesn't go my way...take care of her for me..." Arashi said this, glancing back, however he also saw Risa, tears streaming down her face. Arashi turned back and tightened his hands.
"So you think you can take me on alone. What is your drive huh. Want to save everyone and be a hero huh." Takehiko said this with a taunting tone. Arashi growled and launched forward, his blade hitting his shield and sword. He looked at the man in the eye so he could see his.
"No that is not my angle. I decided to shoulder this burden so I can end the suffering that this damn glitch has caused. Not just the players but there families as well!" Arashi claimed this as he broke Takehiko's guard and turned, his foot hitting him right in the chest and sending him flying back a few feet. Arashi stood ready to launch another attack, when he thought he felt he felt a hand on his shoulder and on the small of his back. It was a phantom touch but he understood what it was. He smiled as in his minds eye he could see his mother and sister behind him, along with everyone else.
"Pitiful. How can you fight alone. Are you really just a solo player." Takehiko said this with a smirk, noticing that his health bar had take a five percent hit. Arashi smiled slightly before launching at the man, sidestepping Takehiko sword and knocking away his shield before slashing Takehiko from shoulder to hip.
"No I am not fighting alone. I have my friends and my family behind me. I know that the trust me, and I know I can beat you because I made a promise to!" Arashi said this quietly as he spun his blade and prepared for another strike, but his blade was parried and Takehiko drove his shield into Arashi's sternum, sending him back with a sword skill. Arashi gasped as he found his footing and landed on his feet, noticing that that move had did about seven percent damage, not to mention it hurt like hell. Takehiko started laughing.
"You say the reason you think you can beat me is a stupid promise. Do you realise how easily one can be broken!" Takehiko said this and Arashi actually saw something that he was afraid of. He saw a glint of hysteria and hatred. Arashi shook slightly, and Takehiko saw this and grin manically before flying forward, hitting Arashi before he could even react, and launched him back. Arashi hit the floor and slid across the floor, his HP taking a hit of about 11 percent. Arashi gasped as he struggled to get up, but Takehiko was already standing over him a sword skill ready. "Time to end this. This is the end of your line." Takehiko said this as he blade glowed a deep red. 'I am sorry...Risa...Mom...Serenay...everyone... I...I couldn't do it...' Arashi thought thisas Takehiko slashed, and Arashi watched in horror as Risa gotten in between them, taking the blow. Takehiko's eyes widened as his blade slashed Risa but he smiled before jumping away and Arashi caught her, a looked to see Azure on the ground holding his stomach. He turned back and watched her hp drop down to zero.
"Heh...sorry...but you can't be the only idiot..." Risa said this as she started to glow. Arashi looked in horror and he heard something and saw something in the corner of his eye which he caught. It was the item he and Kirito had obtained on Christmas Eve.
"Revive...Risa!" Arashi shouted this and watched Risa's Hp slowly go back up to five percent of its total. Risa looked in awe as the item shattered in Arashi's hand. "Damnit Risa...please don't do that again." Arashi said this as tears rolled down his eyes. "If Kirito and I hadn't gotten that item..." He was stopped by Risa's hand on his face. He looked in her eyes and he found something that he needed desperately. He found his true resolve...in the form of a promise. He actually smiled at it. "Damn it Risa. I was the one who promised to protect you, and here you are protecting me." Risa giggled weakly.
"Heh like that matters! You have wasted the only second chance you had! Your promises are useless!" Takehiko yelled this out and Arashi turned and glared at him, feeling something snap in his mind. Arashi picked up Risa and put her near the edge of the floor, next to Kirito who he merely looked at.
"You may think promises are useless...but that didn't keep you from making one." Arashi said this as he walked back to where his weapons were, picking them up, and looking at Takehiko, his eyes now showing his true determination and his rage. Takehiko took a small step back at the intensity of Arashi's eyes. "You promised your daughter that no matter what...even if you acted differently in here, you would be the same on the other side." Arashi said this as he readied his blades. He saw surprise on Takehiko's face. Arashi only knew of this promise because Risa had told him of it. "I am going to make you keep that promise. Because to me, promises are the only things people can be sure of!" Arashi said this as he launched himself forward, blocking Takehiko's counter and using his shield to vault over him and slash down his back. He growled and did a back hand with his shield which Arashi put an arm up to block.
"Like hell! You think a person can keep every promise they make. You are so deluded. Wake up, real life isnt like that!" Takehiko yelled this as he slashed Arashi, which even guarding caused him to be pushed back a few feet. Arashi panted and knelled as he looked at his 63 percent life compared to Takehiko's 73 percent. Arashi stood up, using his swallow blade to help him.
"No a person can't keep every little promise. However that's not what I mean. I made a promise to the people I care the most about, and to myself. The thing about me and promises is, I don't go breaking them when it comes to those people. I haven't yet, and I don't plan on starting today!"Arashi said this as he launched forward and moved to where Takehiko's shoulder bit into his shoulder. "No matter how much pain I go through, no what, I am keeping the promise I made to Risa. I made a promise that I would end this game, and one to see her in the hospital! And I am going to keep those even if it breaks me!" Arashi roared this out as he knocked Takehiko's blade and shield up and started a skill chain. He used a Starburst stream before following with an Eclipse, which during the later, half the attacks where blocked and Takehiko's sword slashed him multiple times, but Arashi pushed that out of his mind. He knock the shield out of the way one last time before using his best move. "Tempest of Ruination!" Arashi roared this out as he repeatedly slashed Takehiko and knocked away his shield when needed, practically dancing around him. He finally dodged a lunge made by Takehiko and thrust his blade through the man's chest panting. Arashi looked at his HP and saw it was settled at five percent.
"Heh...looks like your resolve is strong." Arashi looked in Takehiko's eyes and saw that he was different than before. The man smile as his hp hit zero. "I truly wish to meet you in person, Ryomatsa Tsugiri." Takehiko said this before his avatar shattered into data. Arashi let out a sigh of relief before falling backwards.
"He did it!"
"Thats our Arashi!"
"Nice going Matsa!" Arashi laughed as he heard this and the announcement that the game had been cleared. Arashi had closed his eyes and then opened them to see Risa standing over him. She smiled and helped him up before kissing him deeply.
"Its over." Arashi smiled as she said this and they kissed once more before accepting the logout screen.
Matsa groaned as he opened his eyes, seeing the visor of his nerve gear, which he had gotten from his cousin. Leaning over him was his little sister whose eyes were wide. Matsa coughed slightly and sat up before she hugged him squealing. Matsa saw his mother sitting next to him smiling.
"Hey mom, Serenay...I'm back." Matsa said this as he took the nerve gear off, noticing his bangs now covered his eyes. Serenay was sobbing into his shirt, and he also noticed a doctor standing there with a small smile.
"Matsa...I have some good news for you." Matsa looked at his mother as she said this. She smiled. "It seems that you have a condition that is connected with your ADHD...you brain sends more signals than your nerve gear could intercept, which in turn means, that your twitching and shaking was happening while you were in that game." Matsa stared at his mother for a second as Serenay got off of him and he clicked together the pieces. Smiling he decided it would be best to test his theory. He swung his legs over to the side of the bed and pushed himself into a standing position, finding that the only thing he felt was the tingling feeling of sleeping limbs waking up.
"I...I can stand...I feel perfectly fine...well except for the dry throat and empty stomach." Matsa said this with a nervous chuckle and his mother gave him a glass of water. Matsa smiled and drank the glass of water. He turned to the doctor. "I can leave right." The doctor nodded and Matsa looked in his pockets and found a notepad and a pencil that he had. He wrote down six names and tore out the page and handed it to the doctor. "Can I ask you to find where those people are hospitalized. I want to visit them." The doctor smiled as he read the note.
"Give me fifteen minutes."
Matsa took a deep breath as
he looked at the door in front of him. It had a plaque that said 'Arisa Kamigawa'. Matsa smiled at how stupid he was being just standing there as he knocked. He heard a nurse saying come in and he came in to see Arisa sitting up, a smile on her face. She quickly wrote something on the notepad she had and showed the nurse who nodded and got up and left.
"Hey Risa-chan...I came to see you like I promised." Matsa said this as he pulled a chair next to her bedside. She quickly scrawled out her reply. 'Yeah I know. How are you here though. Shouldn't you be in a hospital bed like me?' Matsa laughed as he read this. "I have a disorder that makes me twitchy remember. Thats how." Matsa said this and chuckled as her lips formed an oh to show her surprise. His chuckling earned him a swat on the arm with the notepad. 'Well in any case Matsa-kun, I hope I get out soon.' Matsa smiled as she wrote this and leaned in kissing her. Her eyes widened but kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Sorry...I just thought we should kiss at least once..." Matsa said this as he pulled this back and Arisa turned bright red. 'You better take me on a date as soon as I get out.' Matsa read this and laughed again, as well as kissing her. "Of course, I promise."
