Joker tapped furiously at the console as he attempted to get to Shepard. He swore as he dodged an incoming reaper beam. He could not abandon Shepard; she was his best friend, his confidant and the only reason why he was alive today. To abandon Shepard would be to sully her memory- she's not dead dammit. He had to keep faith, anyway nothing could kill Shepard, he though with a smile, she'd proved that already. Shepard always had to rescue everyone; he knew how hard this war had been on her, having to abandon her friends. It had been hard on everyone; he didn't even know where his dad or his sister was so he had to save the other member of his family.
"Joker. Joker we can't. I'm sorry." Edi said holding his shoulder sympathetically. "Hackett has ordered us to evacuate Joker. Shepard wouldn't want us to die. We have to go."
"I can't abandon Shepard."
"We are not abandoning her. Joker you need to get everyone to safety, Shepard knows what she is doing."
Joker sunk his head as reality finally managed to sink in. "I'm sorry Shepard." He whispered as he turned the ship towards the mass relay. "Garrus is going to kill us."
**In the med bay**
"I-I need to go back for her." Garrus groaned as Doctor Chakwas continued sewing up his stomach.
"Garrus you know the Commander she sent you back her because she loves you. And we all know the Commander she'll defeat the reapers."
"I know. I know she will." Garrus wasn't a good turian but in this case he would do his duty. For Shepard. "Stitch me up doc." Garrus looked out the window as explosions came from the Citadel he didn't turn away until the Normandy went through the mass relay.
