Arc2: The Quest

Chapter12: Best tag team! Juan & Dean

It seems that Geass made a huge obstacle blocking Juan and the others from achieving their goal to save Princess Cecilia, because even after his defeat by Tsukiname, he raised again as a hideous dragon the stood against Juan and Dean preventing them from following the imp to the top of the tower.

On the other hand those two rushed to this monstrosity with blind faith that they'll win counting on the shepherd's ingenuity and using the knight's humble talent in telekinesis.

-Telekinesis: A basic magic spell, it's simply defined as manipulating inert object's movements in a limited space around the caster, the size of this space, the number of manipulated objects, the speed, and accuracy of the movements depends mainly on how skillful the mage is, but in the case of Dean his telekinesis is weak because he never focused on enhancing his skills, so he's just stressing his mind to its limits relying on his persistence to win -

Dean started by rising Juan as high as possible on his bronze chest plate, mainly because telekinesis users can only manipulate objects that aren't in contact with their bodies, but importantly because Juan was trying to figure something out from that altitude.

Juan gazed intensely at the monsters back then he saw it! A small yellow bulge pulsing like a heart between the beast's back limbs! That was where Tsuki pointed earlier, he has to attack that weak spot in order to take down this monster, but how? The monster has several waving tentacles on his back, and any single careless move will instantly rip his body in twain, because while in the air he can't percept where a hit would land, and if his arms failed him, he'll simply die!

That's it! He must know the pattern that this monster follow in order to learn how to evade his deadly swings, but again this is a monster, he cannot expect him to follow any plan for his attacks, beside those eyes on the monsters neck can accelerate his reflexes, and all this excluding the fact that the monster is capable to walk and move, This was almost impossible!

But Dean shouted summoning his friend's attention "When will I attack?" he asked with his crazy battle craving grimace, causing the shepherd to forget the complications for a second and try a simple move.

"Attack the highest second eye to the left on his neck!" Juan ordered and so his friend did with one of his blades, but it was repelled easily by a slap from one of Geass' flesh whips, upon seeing this result -which seemed useless- Juan's mind flashed with an idea.

"The lower right one!…The highest right one!…The middle one!…The third one to the right!…The front tentacle!…the left front leg!...The back tentacle!" all of these were indications from Juan to Dean.

Of course the knight thought that he's wasting hits as his telekinesis grown weaker, but on the contrary; whilst Juan knew that he won't find the pattern that Geass follows but instead with these raids Dean was making their enemy follow the pattern that helps them, and with the continuous hits they were forcing the beast to stay in his position evading an unnecessary threat.

"Hey! Juan! Are you done yet?!" the knight asked, putting his hand on his left eye feeling a bit dizzy.

"Dean! I want you to move me straightly over his head, and when I jump, you repeat the pattern we did before! Fine?!" he ordered.

"Are ya crazy?! Is this your damned plan?! Ye're gonna die!" the other responded in worry.

"Trust me man! This is the only way!"

At this moment, Dean changed his opinion about Juan totally, he moved his free hand ordering the floating armor, he knew that this is suicide but somehow he trusted his friend, he wished for both of them to live but not because he's scared but just to return to his village carrying Juan on his shoulders and shout out loud: "This is Juan! The man who slaughtered the beast that broke my arm!"

And so the plan started to be applied, as the plate moved quickly the shepherd jumped passing by the beast's head, who didn't spare the moment an tried to gnaw him, but he was stopped by a flying gauntlet that pushed his jaw away, thus leaving a space for Juan to fall on the monsters back making him open for the tentacles to whip him.

But not this time, because Dean started to repeat the pattern that his friend invented earlier, distracting every hit, driving the deadly appendages away making a clear way for the orange haired hero toward the vulnerable weak point, as Juan ran toward it he jumped keeping the blade pointed toward his target, it's done! This beast is doomed!

But no, fate defied Juan this time, as the monster's main tail headed toward him, his defense is widely open, he shifted his free arm, yes in this case, losing an arm is better than losing his life! But another thing happened here, because by raising his arm in that particle of a second, his eyes started to analyze the tail's anatomy in a way that seemed not important at that steep moment.

A thick reddish scaly tail, with pointy dark clusters jetting opposing to the scales heading directly to pierce his thin arm, and possibly his body with it, but somehow this released his new power; because in that mere second that seemed an hour to his fearful mind, his arm transformed magically to match that tail in appearance!

He and unaware blocked the upcoming attack with equivalent force, but he didn't waste time to be amazed and jumped directly stabbing the beast in his pale heart!

A loud growl was released, As Geass started blundering back and forth in pain, he started running toward Dean who jumped to the pond, and stood amazed seeing the monster jabbing the wall with his hand, and with a final death shout his large body exploded like a large geyser of blood that painted the whole floor red.

"Motherf…" Dean was about to curse but he remembered that his friend hated to hear such words…That's right! His friend! Juan! Where's he? He killed the beast! That wimpy bastard killed the beast! But where's he? Is he dead?!

He ran toward the red foam, he started hitting the boiling flesh looking for any sign of his friend, until a warm hand tapped his shoulder, he turned quickly! Juan was standing there -With his arm returned to normal- breathing heavily shedding tears with his whole shivering body soaked in stinking crimson blood.

"Man! Did you…?" he asked while words left his head.

"Yeah…I guess but did I just…?" he answered while wiping the drenching blood from off his face.

"Man! We did it! No you did it! You skilled that beast! You destroyed him!" Dean shouted in joy and started dancing caring less about his broken shoulder while his friend stood there moments before he realized that he's still alive.

"The princess! Tsuki! We are still not done yet we have to save them!" Juan said shortly before he started running toward the exit, followed by the knight who finally started to suffer from the scorching pain of his disjointed arm.

Meanwhile, Tsuki and since she was alone she used her shadow magic in order to slither faster toward where the princess is, she ignored the piercing stings in her leg that started to boil up to her head, encouraging herself to fulfill her vow to Juan, who was facing that hideous beast, he could be dead! Should she return and help them? No that look on Juan was of those who are determined of their success, returning now is nothing but breaking the man's self-confidence!

She stopped counting levels after she reached the fortieth floor, she was just heading up, until her mage eye caught something; it wasn't a single magic aura, but it was a mixture of strong auras at one spot several floor up ahead, there where they should be, but wait! The princess' aura…something is different about it, it's activated; she's casting a spell for sure! This is bad, and Vergil's aura is growing as well, she must get there faster or else they are doomed!

She pushed herself out of the shadow veil toward the stairs and started sprinting racing time to find the wanted place; she reached room behind a large gate with the Grimoires' symbol carved with gold on the blue steel that the door was made of.

She stood there for a moment, took a deep breath, and slowly she started drawing a spell on the door with her blood, after she finished she shouted out loud making the gate explode, despite this didn't cause that colossal damage but it was enough to dislocate the lock and slowly open the great gate.

Upon opening the gate, Tsuki had many thoughts in her mind; how would those two fight? Will they even fight here? Maybe they'll use the princess as a hostage, what if she freed the princess but Vergil restored his lost memories, will she be able to stand against him, no she won't she'll run, but is she going to leave the princess behind? What if the princess was manipulated by the twin and forced her to fight?

All this stress pushed her mind to the limits, because as soon as the gap between the sides of the gate was enough to let her pass, she rushed with her claws pointed to the shadowy figure that was standing by what appears to be a pillar.

And the mean time, Juan and Dean were trying to scale to the top of the tower following Tsuki, but alas they are worn out of the previous battle and the only cause that seems to push them forward was their determination, the shepherd took a few seconds to check the thirty-fifth floor, where he noticed that there's a window that connects them with outside spiral of stairs, after thinking of it for a while, he suggested that it'd make a perfect shortcut to the top, but it was a gamble because he's not sure if there will be other windows that'll lead them to the inside again.

They've mounted the tower as quick as their tired bodies could let them, resisting the blistering wind that grown stronger trying to blow them to the ground, putting in mind that the princess have to be saved.

"Dammit! I should've worn my armor back! It's so cold out here" Dean complained.

"Dean I want to ask you something…" the shepherd asked.

"Huh? What's this all of a sudden?"

"I want you to return to the wharf down there and wait for us with Nimmy."

"What? No way man! I still have some fight…ugh" Dean boasted before pain stopped him from talking.

And suddenly an explosion was heard, it was nearby, Juan knew that was Tsuki for sure, so he rushed to the origin of that sound forgetting his injured friend who was asking him to wait, he was worried this time because he now remembered that Tsuki was pulling her leg on the floor the moment she defeated Geass, she was injured, yet she just pretended that she's fine, he has to save her since he now knew his true potential after that battle with Geass!

He could see smoke coming out several feet ahead, so he held a sturdy plank the jetted out of the wall tightly, and jumped off the edge, with this his arm started stretching in an attempt to repeat the trick he did with his brother before, he was falling faster until his arm reached the limits, and with a flicker he started retracting back toward the smoke, but for a second he felt something stuck to his feet, he looked down to find that it's Dean! He grabbed his foot and he was looking at him like he was saying: "You ain't getting' rid of me that easily!" so Juan answered his persistence with a smile.

At the same time, Tsuki was fighting against Allen, who of course was on higher level than Geass, and since she doesn't know if the princess was alright or not, she couldn't fulfill the rule of her enchantment and use her magic dispelling sword, so what she was doing is struggling to survive the vile wizard's attacks until she find a way to scale to the next floor where her mage eye told her that the princess is there.

But surprisingly, and before he managed to shot a fireball at her, his attention was stolen by the two men who broke through the mosaic glass window to collide directly with him, pushing him few steps away from the imp.

"Juan?! You are alright!" Tsukiname said joyfully enough to not notice the drench of blood on him.

"Tsuki! Thank God!" he responded.

"Bastards! So it was you all time!" Dean cursed Allen.

"Hmm…impressive! Who'd thought that a group of toddlers like you would defeat Geass, did Glenn's curse even work?" the wizard asked with a sarcastic tone.

"Be careful Juan and Dean! They are up to use the princess to restore Vergil's memory, they are on the next floor so on my sign you'll run to save her!" the imp explained her simple plan.

But before any one of them could move, something had changed in the air, something slithered from the top floor and crawled down to the basement of the tower, even Nimmy felt this familiar creepy air, sending shivers down their spines, torturing their minds and troubling their bodies, Juan, Dean, Tsuki, and of course Allen knew it!

Vergil of the dark heavens has returned.
