Chapter 8
I wake to the sun beating through the bedroom window. Groaning I get up, making my way to the hall, and once I walk past the quest room/ Art room the front door opens and a really good-looking dog comes in with a young girl. A grin comes to my features, and when the dog looks over at my direction his ears perk up, his tail starts waging uncontrollably enough that it looks like he is waging his whole body. And then he pulls the little girl in my direction.
"Tanner"! She screeches, I crouch down and start petting my whining dog.
"Hikaru", she says surprised by me being here.
"Wait, that means", she says as I hear the leash fall, and she closes the door and rushes around looking for something.
"Bedroom", I say grinning as Tanner pushes me to the ground and starts licking my face with is large tong. Tanner is about 4 years old, he is a nova scotia duck tolling retriever, his fur is brown almost red with white markings. The markings are on his face, the top of his muzzle, and goes into a thin strip to between his ears. He has a white line from his chest to between his front legs, and a white tip on his tail, the tollers trade mark is that white tip. The little girl rushes past us and into the bedroom and lets out a squeal.
"Ok boy, let me go", I say as I scratch behind his ears, he moves and I get up take his leash off and hang it on the wall.
"I thought they weren't suppose to get bigger", she says. I walk into the room and she is looking at the babies on the bed.
"Wait, I thought there was only one", she says. Oh and I forgot to mention Tanner's nose is a rosy colour.
"Yeah that's what I thought, after I was done on the planet and I got back, there was four instead of one, and then they had gradually gotten bigger", I answer.
"Wow", she says then she turns to me and smiles wildly at me, her eyes shinning.
"Can I have one"? She pleads.
"Sorry can't. They have to stay hidden", I reply, and place my hand on her head and ruffle her blond hair a bit.
"Oh", she says saddened. She looks down a bit and then sighs.
"Well sorry for Tanner not being home last night, he forced me to head to my house for some reason", she says.
"Tanner is a smart dog, he was more than likely making sure you don't get yourself into trouble, your young after all", I say to her.
"Yeah I know", she says.
"Let me get your money for you", I reply and turn walking out of my room, and down the hall, she follows and so do the little babies. Tanner is taking a drink out of his water dish.
"You're the greatest person around", she says. I smile and look at her a for a moment before putting my card into the little machine, which I grabbed the card on my way by the closet. I punch in the amount and then wait.
"No I'm not that great", I say.
"Are you kidding, your fighting in a war with creatures that you had made, your fascinated by them", she says. I sigh at her, little does she know that one is going to live with me, for how long?
I don't really know that answer.
"Yeah but unlike the guys I had made, the real ones are nasty, they kill without any mercy", I say and pull the $600 out of the machine.
"Here you go", I say and turn around then hand her the money, her eyes widen and she takes it out of respect, I know she hates it when I give her a large amount but I would rather pay up... Her parents aren't as nice as she is.
"Yeah but maybe one day you'll be friends with one", she says as she quickly stuffs it into her pocket.
One day, no I all ready had made friends with one. I put my hand through my hair and sigh as I look down at her. Her full baby blue eyes looking at me as though I'm a hero, her long blond hair that she said she will never cut goes to just past her shoulders. She is only around 12 years of age and she acts all grown up.
"Hikaru... When are you going to get a... Boyfriend"? She asks as she looks down at the ground, she knows with my past experiences that I hate the word. I sigh and walk over to my dinning room table and sit down on one of the four chairs.
"It's difficult to say", I reply, raking my hands through my hair again, and then remembering the kisses that Reed and I shared. My face starts to show my thoughts.
"Your blushing, why"? She asks amused. I shoot her a glare and look down at the nose that is nudging my hand.
"Its complicated... There is a man... But he is way different than me", I say as I place my hand on Tanners head, and slowly rub down it to his neck and stopping at his shoulders.
"But the differences are what makes things work", she says as she walks over to the dog and puts her hand on his flank. I look at her, oh how different he is you don't have a clue. "That's true, but like I said before its complicated".
"How complicated, you did make them", she says pointing to the four bug look a likes on the floor.
"Look Trish you don't fully understand my... Sense of emotion, it's really hard to explain, I'm not ready for a relation ship right now", I say. She just huffs at me.
I am glade to be out of that car, the smell in it was disgusting at the least and I had learnt what the smell was. One of the other females is also in heat. I rub the back of my neck out of habit now and groan.
Why is it that Hikaru smells way different then that woman? I shake my head and look at the building before me. It is huge. I groan then suck in a breath of air and let it out, then make my way to the doors. I have to learn all I can and find out how to help my queen and colony. The last I heard from her is that I have to find out when they will be going back to that planet, my home planet. She is planning on invading this one.
"Reed, where is Hikaru"? Conner asks me as soon as I enter the building. I look over at the commanding officer and smile at him.
"Must be at home resting I do believe", I reply, I honestly don't know what she is doing right now, and at the moment I actually don't care... I want to stay away from her as long as possible. He just nods his head and then puts his arm around my shoulder and asks, "So what brings you here"?
"Just wanting to know when the next visit is to that planet", I answer honestly. He looks at me rather shocked and asks, "What you want to go"?
"No, no, just want to see if I would be able to go", I answer looking at him.
"Oh ok, they are heading back next week, but you and Hikaru gets to stay behind", he stats. I nod my head and look around the building trying my hardest not to make it look like it's the first time I've been here.
Trisha ended up leaving, and now I'm on my own aside from the four little guys and Tanner my own best male friend aside from the critter I made and Reed.
"Do you guys know where Reed had gone"? I ask looking down at the little guys, and they all look at one another. I had dressed, went to the bathroom and growled at the blood I seen on the pad. Now I'm drinking some juice, sitting at the dinning table, trying my best to forget that I'm on my annoying friend. I gulp down the rest of the drink and look down at my dog who is laying ideally at my feet.
"What to do today"? I ask him, knowing he won't answer back. He just looks up and perks his ears as best he can with floppy ones. I get up and walk to the fridge, and open it. I sigh, now I know what I'll be doing.
"Well boy, you're going to have to watch my little ones... I need to do some grocery shopping", I state. He only looks at me, watches me, then gives an indoor bark. I smile at him and walk over to the dog, then pet him on the head and head for the door. I put my shoes on, make sure I have my card and keys, seeing as how you can only use a card in the stores now, there are chips in the hand too but I like to use the card as well.
Hardly any places uses cash these days, its ashamed really. People that have the device that I have can give cash, but the other person must have the same type, which Trish does. I open the door and close it, then lock it, and walk down the hall to the elevators. With so much technology I'm glade I'm working in the army, or else I wouldn't have a job at all. Most places are done by robots. I shrug and smile, pushing the button on the wall between the two doors, and wait.
I hear the belts moving, and then shortly after I hear the doors start to open, and when they do, my smile turns into a frown, two people I didn't want to see are in the elevator that opened.
"Hikaru", the man says as I walk into the thing, trying to ignore them.
"Oh my god your back from the space station", the woman says. I just keep my eyes on the ground, I don't want to say a word to either of them, and just being in the same small area is making my heart-break. A hand on my shoulder forces me to look at the face of the owner. And the really nice blue eyes of the man stars back worried.
"Hikaru", he says quietly this time.
"Don't touch me"! I yell, and jerk my body away from his touch.
"Come on, its been 2 years", he says lowly.
"Look Tyler, I can't even look at you.. Do you really think that some one is going to forgive the way you dumped them... I mean a video dumping, you could have waited till I got home"! I scream at him. Then I turn my gaze to the girl and point my finger.
"Then finding out that you had cozied your self with MY best friend.. And the worst part is you had been doing so for years behind my back", I say the last part lowly nearly to a whisper. How can any one think I will be their friends after that.
"You never gave us the chance to explain", she says.
"Shove it Jen, I don't want to hear your bull shit, nor his"! I snap and as soon as the doors open I rush out and to the front doors, out them and stop looking at the ground for a short while then turn back. The two of them seem to be arguing, and I smile at it. I could care less if that relationship ends, in fact I want it to. I then turn my attention to the road and decide that I'll walk to the store, yes its a distance, but because the store that I'm going to allows me to take a cart home, and the next time I head in that direction I bring it back.
I had done that for years, at least the majority of the time I'm on Earth. I turn off the side-walk onto the main one and hear foot steps rushing toward me, at least I believe it's toward me. I look over and groan, Tyler had rushed to me.
"Do you mind if I walk with you"? He asks. I narrow my eyes and look at him and stat, "Your not going to give me a choice".
"Look I don't want to not be friends with you.. In fact that's the last thing I want", he says as he sighs.
"Yeah well, too late, I don't want to be yours or her friend"! I groan.
"What about your other two friends"? He asks. I then stop and look down.
"Dead", I bluntly say, as I feel tears threatening to come out.
"Oh god, sorry", he says meaning it.
"When"? He asks. I look at him and sigh, then answer, "Just before we got back, er.. Actually a few days ago".
"I'm so sorry... Do you have any others"? He asks.
"Yes, Tanner, my babies, Trisha", I say.
"Your babies, you actually went through with the plane"? He asks surprised.
"Yes, and now there is four instead of one, and they are getting bigger", I state and start walking again. I have to get this feeling of dread out of my system for my friends. He grabs my wrist and stops me then forces me to look at him.
"Look Hikaru, I'm so sorry for how things turned out", he says and looks down.
"But just so you know, all that time that I had hung out with Jen, it was to help her, I never intended to get feelings for her". I narrow my eyes at him and yank my arm out of his grip and snap at him, "Stop that, what is done, is done, and I don't want to be your friend anymore because it hurts too much to remember every thing we shared, all the dreams we had... I don't want to be her friend, because she toke you away from me"!
He then looks at me wide-eyed, as though he now finally understands my feelings.
"I'm sorry", he whispers.
"I didn't know". I shake my head and start walking again.
"But even amongst all that heart-break, I did manage to find some one who is kind to me", I say. I hear him walking close behind me.
"Oh, who is this some one"? He asks.
"Reed", I answer.
I feel a chill go down my spine and I look around, what an odd feeling. I shake my head and look around, I had left that building a while ago, walking around now, trying to find something to occupy myself with. I look down at the ground and see these really strange small creatures.
What is it that they call my kind? Ah yes, bugs, is this an equivalent to a bug. I watch it with mild interest, it's so small compared to all of my kind and more. I must say I'm irked to the fact that I'm not the biggest creature, but now I don't actually mind. Seeing how small these things are, I'm proud of my size. Speaking of which I need to find a place to hide so I can control this part of me with out a fear of my true self coming out. I look around only to groan, it's so crowded it's not funny. I thought that the night was bad, but this, its worse.
Reminds me of home. I shake my head to the thought and see that same car driving by, I then put my hands into the air to catch the driver, thank god I had. The driver stops and I walk over to the car, and open the back door, sighing a relief I'm the only one going to be in it aside from the driver.
"Done with what you needed"? He asks as I sit down.
"Yeah", I simply say. He nods and off he goes.
Walking through the store, with a cart half full of food, and Tyler still following me, we hadn't talked the rest of the way their and I don't intend on talking. Before we fell into the awesome silence he had told me that the reason he wasn't with Jen was because she had to go to work.
After finishing gathering the rest of the stuff and Tyler grabbing a few items we walk to the cash register, which is just a walk through, it scans all the items in any cart or bag, and then we just put the card into the slot, or just raise the chipped hand and its paid for.
Now walking back once the manager had unlocked the cart. Only so I can take it off the property, and now we are walking home.
"So tell me about this Reed guy", Tyler finally says something.
"Its none of your business", I snap at him, narrowing my eyes, I actually liked the silence.
"Hikaru please", he pleads. I ignore him and continue walking. It toke a while but when we finally get a few blocks from the building I see an army vehicle stop and my eyes widen to see Reed get out of the back, he seems to be smiling at the driver. Words were said then he closes the door. Like knowing where I am, he looks over his plane expression on his features. Before I know it we are approaching him and then very suddenly Tyler grabs me and forces me to look at him.
"Please, I don't want it to be like this between us", he says. I narrow my eyes at him and try to jerk away but this time he don't let me. I start to panic on the inside, Tyler has never been like this.
"I'm still in love with you Hikaru, so please don't do this", he stats. My eyes widen and I can't seem to do a thing, then suddenly rage.
"Tyler knock it off, you can't have two people at the same time, so back off why don't you, I hate your guts for going to my best fucking friend, so go to hell"! I yell at him.
"Hikaru please...", he stops and looks over. I follow his gaze and see some ones hand on his arm, where the elbow meats the upper arm.
"This don't concern you mister, back off"! Tyler yells at him. I look at the face of the owner of the hand and my eyes widen.
"For your information... It does concern me", Reed says darkly, his eyes narrowed, and instead of the swirling colours, they are all most black.
"Get lost"! Tyler says as he tosses a punch to Reed, and gasps when Reed catches the fist with his free hand.
"You want to try me lad"? He asks.
"Reed", I whisper, for a moment his gazes moves my way his features softening some then swiftly moves back to Tyler.
"This is my girlfriend"! Tyler yells at him.
"I am not...", "I do recall that this girl is single", Reed says smoothly a smirk coming to his features.
"For one I was on the ship with her". Tyler's eyes widen at this. Before he can say a word, Reed takes his hand off the crease of the elbow section and puts his hand on Tyler's hand and pulls it off of my shoulder, and swiftly puts him to the ground, arms behind his back in a way that if Reed moved ever so slightly Tyler's arms will break. Tyler lets out a surprised squeak as he faces the ground.
"I thought you can't live with any one anymore"? He asks as he turns his head to look at me.
"He needs to find a place first, he lost his old one", I say and put my hand on Reed's shoulder. Reed looks at me and sighs, then lets Tyler go. Tyler falls with a thud to the ground and then gets to his feet and looks at both of us.
"If you ever go near Hikaru again, I will kill you"! Reed snaps with furry in his voice, which shocks me.
"She obviously don't want you around". Tyler looks at him not believing this.
"Why protect her, when she isn't your girl either"? Tyler asks. Reed takes a threatening step toward him, and Tyler takes a step back.
"Because I ow her", he simply says and turns then starts walking. I look at him shocked, he is backing off when his poster is showing that he don't want to stop.
I had to turn away from the male, I would actually kill him, for one as soon as I seen him take hold of Hikaru and force her to stay put, it angered me dearly, and I don't know why. Then when he had stated that he is Hikaru's male, it pissed me off, more so then a bullet hitting me. All the rage I feel just boiling isn't going to be any good with the stat I'm in as it is, I need to go to my true stat.
"You know its fools end to defend her, all she will do is just lead you on", he says. I stop and growl.
"Tyler"! I hear her yell. I turn around and grin at him, then say, "I believe that I'm the only one who had actually gotten to see her naked".
I froze at that, its true, aside from that bastard, Reed is the one who has seen me naked. I then feel my face flush to that comment and the realization to it all.
"What"? Tyler asks shocked and confused from the words.
"And I beat that I would be able to get what no man has gotten from her if I actually tried", Reed says growling, and slowly stalking toward Tyler.
"I highly doubt that", Tyler says smugly.
"He does have more of a chance to get it then any of you ever did"! I yell out of anger, and then clamp my hands over my mouth, and gasp at my own words. I feel both pairs of eyes on me.
Oh shit
Still silence all across the board, and I don't even know what would happen with me and Reed, seeing as how I am at a disadvantage because of me being technically in heat in front of him and he seems to be reacting to it not in a bad way, only its bad for me, he is an animal after all, a creature from another planet.
Did she just say what I believe she had said? Oh god, what a way to stop my self-control, even though I know she did it out of anger, but still.
It's hard to ignore the scent she is giving off, and by god its gotten stronger, sweeter.
"Why him, you don't even know him"? Tyler asks coming out of his shocked stat. I look at him and narrow my eyes, why ask that question, when really he should be asking what did he do wrong. I can tell that the two of them shard some sort of history together, it angers me just to think about it, but for her sake I'm trying to keep cool, calm, and its harder to do then say.
"Because he treats me as a person, I do recall that you never had, humans are all the same"! She screams and turns then runs, leaving the thing, with stuff in it, and the two of us out here with out her to stop me from doing something.
"Humans"? Tyler asks.
Oh shit, that can't be good, she like practically sold me out. Shaking out of both our shocked states, he walks toward the door, not saying a word and seems defeated. I smile at this, grab the item with items in it and make my way to the door. We both walk in, and then into the elevator, knowing what floor that she is on, he pushed the button, then his floor which is on the 8th floor. We never shared another word, and it made me happy to see a grown man defeated to the point of no words.
I didn't have to hurt him, because she had. When the doors open I step off and watch as the doors close.
"Sorry", says a small voice. I look over and to my surprise she waited for me.
"I'll take this", she says and moves to take the item from me. I let her with out a fight, I don't want to fight with her, even if I had the urge to.
"Umm, he wasn't here before, but I have a dog, and no you cannot kill him", she says. She is embarrassed for what she had said. What ever this dog is, I will treat it with respect like she has with me.
Cliffhanger, sorry guys, trying to make sure it's the same length as the others, 6 pages each. But there you have it, its the 8th chapter.
