"Ms Granger" Scorpius' voice sounded from a distance behind Dennis as he came rushing along the corridor.

"Decorum Scorp, no running" Draco abonished before he resumed chatting to Dennis as the latter showed off the photographs to the blond.

Chapter 33:

"Ms Granger?" Scorpius asked calmer, slowing to a stop in front of the older woman. "Would you be able to redo my bowtie?"

"I thought you were happy with the way it was?"

He nodded, "I am but Father's looks so much better and smarter than mine"

Scorpius, Hermione had noticed, had taken a greater interest in acting much more like his father in recent days. So without preamble she retied the bowtie before asking where her daughter had gotten to, to which the young man informed her she was with the Potter clan in the main hall.

Calling out to Draco who was still chatting to the younger Creevey brother she announced she was going into the part and would see him later.

Upon entering the main hall she found it easy enough to spot the Weasley/cohort of people. Harry was surrounded by his usual group of fans, while just a few feet away Ginny was conversing with George and Angelina, though from the way her vision glanced periodically to her husband she wasn't paying her Brother or Sister-in-law much mind.

It was said brother who spotted Hermione first and took seconds for him to comment on her choice of companion for the previous week, asking "Where is your blond shadow?"

"I believe he is currently arguing the semantics of photography with Dennis Creevey" Hermione retorted not missing a beat as a smirk graced her features.

"That smirk is scarily similar to his, has he corrupted my sweet innocent Hermione?" the red head joked as he engulfed the brunette in a hug.

"Hello to you to George" when he'd finally let her go she turned to Angelina, "It's nice to see you too Ang"

It took only seconds after Angelina's reply for George to speak up again "When, as I'm sure Malfoy will, he comes to find you can you send him in my direction? I wish to have a few choice words with him."

Nodding her head Hermione agreed to do precisely as asked before excusing herself to speak to the distracted Ginny.

"I sometimes think he should wear a glamour charm" she commented as she strolled to Ginny's side.

Her sudden voice made the red head jump, clutching at her chest in fright "Oh Hermione I didn't know you were here, when did you arrive?"

Though Ginny had questioned 'when' Hermione was positive in her infinite wisdom that she was certain to ask who had accompanied her at some point, so took the opportunity to get her answer across as well as the accusations that were likely to spout out of her younger friend. "Draco and I floo'd in about fifteen minutes ago"

"So you're still staying with him?"

Hermione nodded "It may not appear 'proper' but it's the place Rose feels most comfortable"

"Do you as well?"

"Do I feel comfortable?" Hermione questioned to which Ginny nodded, "I do, I enjoy being there, I guess he presents something I've not had in a long time- a companion I can share my troubles with"

"You may as well be in a relationship with him then" Ginny accused. "You probably sleep together do you not?"

Hermione adamantly shook her head, "We don't, we've established a relationship that doesn't rely on that" the brunette glanced around to make sure nobody was listening to their conversation. "He cares what's going on in my head, he wants to help"

"As long as when you do finally give him what he wants he doesn't throw you into the rubbish tip like all his other one night stands, we know about his bed post notches"

Hermione rolled her eyes, "Ginny, I'm not some child, I know what I'm doing" she paused once again glancing around the room "And I beg of you to not mention it anymore, I'm going to go mingle"

Without giving the red head a chance to reply back Hermione had walked away, seething, as she tried not to think on what Ginny had said. Draco had already confirmed that she was much more than a notch on his bed post, and he had agreed to let their blossoming relationship simmer, even after she had practically begged him to kiss her the other day.

"That scowl is not becoming of a lady Granger" a voice broke into Hermione's reverie, as tailored shoes came into her line of vision. "Perhaps on Potterette, but definitely not on yourself."

Hermione glanced up glad to find that the smirking face of Blaise was staring back at her, "If I'm honest Blaise I just don't want to be here, and call it women's intuition but I feel something is going to happen and it will not be a pretty sight"

The brunette closed her eyes willing the tears threatening to escape back into the recesses of her tear ducts, "If anything does happen, you know us Slytherins have got your back" he waved his hand behind him to where his wife, Daphne, Terrence and a few other people Hermione recognised but couldn't put her finger on were situated, before the hand of his that was not holding the tumbler came to rest on her arm as his thumb rubbed soothing circles near the crook of her elbow.

"Thanks Blaise, however, I feel your wife may not be up to defending me in her current state, it looks more like we'll both need defending against her wrath" she paused, "Which may be sooner rather than later"

As if on cue Pansy walked over, forgoing her usual stance of linking arms with her husband, "Hello Granger" Pansy spoke, "I hope Draco was happy with his purchase of the dress"

"Hi Pansy," she paused biting her lip as she lifted some of the fabric as if examining it, "He was very happy with it yes, thank you"

"Where is he anyway?"

Glancing around the room Hermione locked her sight onto Draco as he stood talking to Lord Ardenbrook not that far into the main room, Scorpius stood diligently next to him. Only moving away as Draco spoke to him before looking up and catching Hermione's watchful gaze. Which caused the brunette to blush as he sent a small smile her direction.

"He's over near the door talking to Harry Ardenbrook"

"Harry?" Blaise and Pansy said in unison

"Yes Harry Ardenbrook, he's the owner of countless business, inclu-"

Hermione was stopped from talking by Pansy, "We know who he is Granger, but you're on first name terms with him?" Pansy shared a look with her husband that seemed to melt the iciness between the pair.

Hermione nodded, "He insists I call him Harry."

Pansy's mouth dropped open unceremoniously before Blaise spoke again, "So you are telling me that Lord Ardenbrook is on such good terms with you, you call him Harry?"

Hermione nodded again, "Yes, since my parents died he became like a surrogate parent or grandparent to me along with Professor McGonagall"

"So an old Prince of Slytherin is practically your father figure?" Hermione nodded for a third time, "Does Draco know this?" Pansy queried

Not wanting to nod for a fourth time she laughed, "Of course he does, well I've mentioned it recently."

"You are absolutely brilliant Granger, that's why he's found this whole plan easier than he anticipated!" Blaise announced

The only person not sure what they were now talking about spoke up "What plan?" Blaise's eyes suddenly widened before he was looking to his wife at his side. Knowing her husband as long as she had Pansy knew he had no intention to divulge exactly what his comment had meant and was instead trying to convey this to her with a certain look in his eye. "Forget it" she threw a hand up to knock his grip from being able to stop her from leaving, "This is one of yours and Draco's stupid bloody secrets again is it not?"

"Pans, I-" the Italian paused unsure how he could placate his wife, "I wish I-"

Hermione was the one who stopped Blaise from speaking, garnering the couples attention from each other, "Draco is helping me, well it started off without me knowing"

"Granger you don't have to say anything"

She shook her head, "It's unfair for you to have to keep something from your wife, when we marry we become connected to that person, we should share everything with them." She turned more towards Pansy, "Draco had a plan to get revenge on my ex, the files you gave him he used the information in them to help."

Something seemed to strike accord with Pansy as she listened to Hermione, "The files, the secret meetings, the closed business meetings with you Blaise" at this point her husband nodded, "The bloody poker match, Terry," she paused, "Daphne, the pregnancy." Suddenly the raven hair women remembered a few days prior when she had found Draco drinking his sorrows away 'It was never about Astoria' "Final year… It was you!"

Before Hermione had a chance to question Pansy on what she was referring to, the doors to the Hall opened and Pansy whose line of sight was facing towards it gasped. And as Hermione span round she had that sudden feeling of immense displeasure, 'Shit, fan, hit' was her last thought before she was rushing out of the hall towards the fresh air found in the Gardens.

"Granger!" Blaise and Pansy shouted together trying to stop her retreat, which in turn garnered Draco's attention across the hall. The blond watched as she made a hasty exit via the double doors situated in front of her before he turned around to face where he realised the majority of the rooms eyes were captivated- the entrance doors, and looking that way made Draco see red, quite literally.
