Chapter 39

-DMDM-

Monday 2nd May 2011

6.48am

Draco woke up with a definite spring in his step, in fact he could have challenged many a kangaroos for the biggest bounce. He was awake much earlier than he usually was, and though he was content to remain in bed with his legs intricately weaved with Hermione's, while her hand rested on his abdomen as he naked body pressed deliciously against his side he decided that she was too out of it and he could get a good flight in while she maintained in the world of nod.

He also knew he needed to formulate his next move in this game of chess against Ron Weasley, one that would hopefully allow him to finally call check mate. Draco was also an intelligent man and he knew that should he stay in the comfort of the bed with Hermione that he would more than likely wake her from her slumber due to his over thinking, as he had come to realise she was extremely perceptive to changes in mood when someone was thinking, even while she was sleeping.

Not to mention he did some of his best thinking while he was hundreds of feet in the air, the wind blowing through his blond locks as his eyes scanned the distance for a speck of gold.

So with his decision made he began extracting himself from Hermione careful not to wake her, and make sure that her naked body was adequately covered with the covers they had found themselves under much later in the evening, or rather early morning. Bending down to retrieve his boxer shorts from the floor Draco noticed her dress from the previous evening had not quite made it to where his tuxedo jacket was hung on the chair. Instead it remained crumpled in a pile on the floor nearby, knowing both Hermione and Pansy would be upset if he knowingly left the silk where it was he bent down to pick the garment up and place it on the hanger over the wardrobe.

Taking a few moments to stare at the gown, whilst running his fingers down the material Draco smiled before glancing back at the sleeping woman in the bed before exiting the room intent to get a good flight in before the rest of the house woke up.

-5 minutes later-

"Miffy" Draco called into his empty room as he sat on the chaise at the foot of his bed tying the laces of his riding boots.

A pop signalled the house elf's appearance in the room, "Master Draco, what can Miffy do for you?" the elf wrung her hands waiting for her orders as he large brown eyes gazed up at her master.

Draco smiled at the elf before speaking a second elf's name, "Drurry?"

Seconds later the elf appeared with a respectable bow to Draco, "Master, how can Drurry be of assistance?"

"Good morning the pair of you. You may not know but my Mother was taken to saint Mungo's last night, as such my father stayed with her thus leaving me in charge until their return. We have many guests over for the bank holiday so Drurry you will have to organise everyone, and also check on my parents at the hospital as we know my father has a distaste for their food." He shared a small smile with the senior house elf before turning to his favoured one, "Miffy I need you to light the fires in each of the guest rooms, including Hermione's as soon as possible." Draco glanced between the two elves, "I need you both to share the duties around the house, and let the other elves know that if anyone comes looking for me I will be at the quidditch paddock for around about the next hour." The two elves nodded clearly eager to get on with their duties so Draco dismissed them to continue with their chores for the day. As he made his way to the paddock.

-Malfoy Manor Paddock-

9.33am

Not too long into his routine Draco had shed his t-shirt in favour of being bare chested, allowing the morning breeze to cool the sweat seeping off his body.

Draco had been flying around longer than he had anticipated, unable to concentrate knowing that a certain curly haired brunette had been left to her own devices in bed, not just any bed but a bed he too had been occupying hours earlier.

Suddenly he heard the doors to the paddock go, the sound of heels clicking on the boarding at the edge of the arena before someone came more into his view, though from his height he could only distinguish a darker haired woman as the new occupant.

"I must say the view from down here is very nice indeed!" Oh the flirtatious undertone definitely confirmed it was a woman, who near enough quoted something Pansy had said years earlier, but his friend rarely flirted with him nowadays unless it was to make her husband jealous- or she was drunk.

Which left the identity of the woman out in the open, dropping altitude Draco drew nearer to the woman and soon was wishing he had stayed high up as he realised who the person was; "What are you doing here?" he sneered at the woman.

"I heard about your mother, I just wanted to check you were alright" she purred. Clearly not the least bit put off by his less than friendly attitude.

Stepping off his broom Draco walked towards her, narrowing his eyes with each stride, "You need to leave… Now!"

"You seem stressed" she pointed out as she traced a droplet of sweats path backwards up his torso, the friction of her long nails on skin causing a flailing of goose bumps all up the expanse of his chest. "Perhaps I can remedy that, I've been told I can work wonders with my hands… And lips" at this point she winked at him.

She actually had the audacity to proposition him, and wink at him when the last time he had the displeasure of seeing him she had been told to vacate the premises.

"Do you think I would touch someone who propositioned me like that?" he queried raising a single brow in question at her. He snatched her arm up and began dragging her towards the doors, he'd pull her through the whole manor if need be.

"I think you just need some good sex and you will be fine, no longer stressed" she spoke again and Draco really wished he had a silencing spell he could place wandlessly on the chit.

"I will not tell you again Katie, I do not what anything to do with you." He stopped to stare at her just out of view of the manor, "And for your information I had the best sex of my life last night… And right now all I can think about is screwing her. Not. You." He punctuated his words by snatching her arm again, before they turned the corner into Pansy as she came wandering around the corner holding a mug of a steaming drink in her hands.

"And who may your friend be Draco?" Pansy asked scrutinising the woman once over, immediately recognising her as the woman her husband had describe as being Draco's almost stalker.

"So this is who you are shagging?" Katie snidely asked.

Draco went to pull the woman along again but was stopped by Pansy's hand, as she glanced briefly back at the house, "I think you will find I actually made love to my husband last night, at least five times. However Ms Carter is it not? I find that I am really struggling to remember what business that is of yours?" Pansy stepped closer to the other woman, whose heels gave her a slight height advantage over Pansy, but that did not deter Draco's friend. "If I so much as hear you say a bad word about my friend or step foot on this property again, or go anywhere near my friend… Or husband, in fact anyone I know you will regret it."

"Are you threatening me?" Katie asked.

Pansy laughed, a hollow kind of sinister chuckle, "Of course I am not threatening you. That was a promise" she smiled sweetly, "Drurry" the elf appeared, "Please escort Ms Carter off the premises, and adjust the wards and floo access so that she never gets entrance without a Malfoy's permission ever again." The elf looked to Draco as the master of the manor who simply nodded for him to do exactly what Pansy had asked.

However once Drurry had removed Katie from their presence Pansy turned her angry green eyes towards Draco, and he wished he could call the elf and unwanted guest back if only to save himself from Pansy's obvious fury.

"And what may I ask was she doing here?" Pansy hissed poking at his exposed stomach.

Furrowing his eye brows Draco pulled his stomach away from the offending digit as he stared at it, "I did not do anything" he defended himself, "I have been flying all morning and she just turned up." He began walking back towards the paddock to store his broomstick and to pick up his t-shirt as Pansy followed closely behind him.

"Just out of the blue?"

"Exactly." He narrowed his eyes at his friend, "Do you think so little of me that you think I would ask for company? Especially with what happened last night" he question offended at the implication.

Pansy shook her head as she regarded Draco, "You slept with her, didn't you?" though she posed it as if it was a question she didn't require him to nod his head to confirm it. "It's written all over your face" she clarified when his brows rose more.

Draco breathed heavily through his nose, "One thing led to another" he stated as he rubbed the back of his neck turning away from the dark haired girl.

"And yet you're here?" she tilted her head to the side, "Why?"

"I needed to think" he defended.

"May I ask what you were thinking when you left herin your bed. When you know her main concern was that she would become a notch on your bedpost?"

"I-" Draco paused, "I did not leave her in my bed… We were in her room" he meekly admitted. "I am planning to be back by the time she wakes up."

Pansy shook her head, "She is already up and about" Draco's eyes snapped to Pansy widening to the size of saucers.

"Hermione is already awake?" he turned on his heel, pulling his t-shirt over his head as he made haste towards the manor house.

-1 hour earlier-

Hermione could only describe the feeling when she first woke up as content, a smile found its way quickly onto her face as she remembered what had happened the previous evening. The dull ache from between her legs triggered more of the memories, while the heat she felt surrounding her told her of the times that he had held her in his arms, warming her back as he nuzzled her neck before they both succumbed to sleep.

Suddenly as if a bucket of iced water had been thrown over her she became distinctly aware that while she felt the warmth cocooning her it lacked a pressure at any other point on her body, as if she was alone in the bed. Opening her eyes and extending her arms to each side she realised she was alone, causing her eye brows to furrow and the smile to drop off her face as she sat herself up in the bed.

Glancing around she noticed the fire was lit, and was steadily burning, hinting to the fact it had been on for a while, hence the warmth that radiated throughout the room. Looking towards the en-suite she came to the conclusion Draco was not in the immediate vicinity as the room had no apparent light coming from it.

Believing him to have just stepped out for a few minutes Hermione settled herself back into the bed, staring up at the ceiling waiting for his return.

-15 minutes later-

Blearily Hermione opened her eyes, 'I must have drifted off' she thought sullenly, glancing around she realised she was still alone, sighing she hoped to find some sign that Draco had returned- but found none.

Standing from the bed she walked to the bathroom intent on having a shower before going to search for the blond.

As she stepped back into the warm room securing the towel firmly around her body she noticed that the dress she had been wearing the night before was on a hanger over the wardrobe door. She distinctly remembered it being tossed to some unknown place in the room, and considering the fact that the rest of her clothes were strewn about on random pieces of furniture she highly doubted that it had miraculously made its way to its current position without a certain persons help. After all had it been an elf she expected the rest of the garments would have been stacked neatly somewhere, and yet they weren't. This suggested to Hermione that Draco was not in a complete rush as he made his escape in the morning.

Once dressed Hermione walked around picking up the discarded items of clothing from their places all over the room, each giving her a snippet of memory from the night before- each resolving her steel even further to find Draco.

Creaking down the hallway she stopped at his room, tentatively knocking on the door before pushing the oak to one side and stepping in, not realising a pair of green eyes watched her from further down the hall.

Ten minutes later and a lot of soul searching and stomach grumbling seconds Hermione found herself leaning against the marble top in the kitchen as she watched Drurry work his magic in the kitchen. Suddenly the elf turned around, flipping a crêpe onto a plate and pushing it towards Hermione.

"Master told Drurry that you are a fan of crêpes" the elf informed her speaking for the first time since she had appeared in the room.

"Did he?" she asked somewhat surprised that Draco would have remembered such a trivial thing.

The elf nodded, a small smirk finding its way onto his face, "Master told Drurry a lot of things." The elf nodded again, "Master has always spoken very fondly of miss."

This time it was Hermione who nodded as she spread jam across the pancake before sprinkling some sugar over the top and rolling the sheet. As she bit into the early morning dessert she was lost to the taste, it reminded her of the times her parents used to cook pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, the only day of the year where they didn't seem to mind her overloading on sugar- as long as she thoroughly brushed her teeth afterwards.

"Mmhmmm" she inhaled the fragrance of the jam oozing out of the treat, "Drurry you will have to tell me how you make them so perfect!"

The elf smiled triumphantly "Master gave me a copy of a recipe, your recipe" he clarified, "He has always told me to make them exactly the way it says and that one day they may be as good as yours." The elf looked towards Hermione again, "Does miss enjoy them?"

Hermione caught the infectious smile the elf was directing at her, she had rarely seen this particular elf smile, it seemed he was most at home when in the kitchen, "Very much so Drurry" she finished off the delicacy licking her lips afterwards. "Where is Draco?" she queried.

"Master is at the paddock," the elf answered at once concentrating on flipping another pancake.

Making her excuses Hermione left the elf to his work and began walking through the house to the gardens. Hermione was surprised to see Pansy ahead of her in the garden and was more shocked to see her pause as she met with someone else at the edge of the tree line blocking Hermione's view to the paddock. Concentrating on the two other figures joining the raven haired woman she recognised Draco's blond locks and naked torso as he held tightly onto the arm of another woman.

Hermione gasped, she knew that woman.

Hermione was frozen as she watched the trio converse, or rather what looked to be Pansy converse in clipped tones to the other two people before Drurry appeared, batter covered apron and all. Draco seemed hesitant as Pansy said a few words to the elf before the elf disappeared with the other woman in tow, leaving just Draco and Pansy arguing in the garden.

The pair disappeared behind the hedge of trees towards the paddock again and Hermione was cautious as she began to follow them, diverting off seconds later intent to find a place where she could think for a time.

-15 minutes later-

It took Draco just under fifteen minutes to locate Hermione, he had sprinted through every room of the house searching for her, including walking in on his best friend as he lay comatose in bed with nothing covering his tanned arse from Draco's view. Safe to say Draco did not make that mistake when knocking on either Theo and Mandy's room or the two rooms occupied by his old teacher and his boss.

Eventually it was Pansy who had suggested asking one of the house elves where Hermione may have gone. When Drurry had said he had served her breakfast Draco's stomach dropped, his immediate thought that she may have left the premises, but Miffy informed him that while she had been watering some of his Mother's plants in the sunroom she had seen Hermione walking towards the pool house.

He should have known. When they were at school he had three places he knew where to find her, the library, the Quidditch pitch and the Black Lake. The latter she had taken to swimming in after the war, he never understood it, but she had told him that swimming was like her running, she thought while she was swimming.

But that led him to think about what she was thinking about? Last night?

By the time Draco had made it to the pool house he was fidgeting with his hands, he entered the building, hopeful that he would be able to regroup his thoughts, but lady luck was far from being on his side, as he noticed Hermione was doing lengths of the pool. He closed the door behind himself, and sat on one of the statue bases as the statue itself swam alongside the brunette.

A few lengths later and she began climbing out of the pool at the opposite end, giving him an attractive view of her nearly naked form, encased in a red lycra bikini, that clung in all the right places accentuating, from what he could see a shapely derrière as she walked slowly towards the sauna in the rear of the building.

He began following seconds later, noting that steam had already taken ahold of the chamber, making any attempt to see into the space as futile, meaning he would have to just venture inside. Steam billowed out of the doorway as he opened it, allowing the dense fog to lift enough for him to be able to distinguish whereabouts in the cabin she was.

She was tucked away in the furthest corner of the little room, eyes closed as she leant back against the wall allowing the steam to work its magic.

He remained quiet as he simply observed the brunette, the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest as she breathed, the peeking out of her tongue from between her rouge lips as she wetted the parched flesh.

"Draco, you can either take a seat and close the door or leave and close the door, you are letting the steam out" she finally spoke not bothering to open her eyes. Stepping in he closed the door but remained stood up. "So you opted to enter and not sit down, but what do you want?" she questioned finally opening her eyes.

"How did you know it was me?" he answered back.

"You shouldn't answer a question with a question" she replied before sighing, and deciding to answer his question anyway, "You have a distinct smell about you, the steam opens your senses to pick up even the subtle aromas."

Draco nodded once, aware she had not asked her question again, which surprised him, "I came back after playing Quidditch, you were not where I had left you" he finally spoke, sitting down as he did so, being stood up in a sauna did nothing for helping the feeling of being light headed.

"And where had you left me?" she replied.

"In your bed" he supplied rubbing the back of his neck, as the sweat began to run faster.

She shook her head, that much he could tell as he cast his eyes downwards, "Correction, your bed, nothing here is mine, let alone the bed I sleep on" he could tell she was irritated, not overly angry, just irritated.

"Okay, the bed you have been sleeping in" he went to speak again but she cut him off.

"Exactly, you left me in a bed, you left me in a bed after everything we did last night" Now she sounded hurt.

He licked his lips, the temperature was drying his lips, he looked towards her again, and rubbing the sweat away from his eyes said "I planned to be back before you woke."

"Did you get distracted?" she asked quietly.

Draco stood up again, stepping towards her, "I lost track of time" he admitted, as he reached out to her.

Hermione allowed the contact, after last night her head and heart were far from being on the same page when it came to the blond, and as such she was unable to voice a request for him to leave her be. She craved his touch, his scent, his taste.

Draco perched himself next to her, looping an arm hesitantly over her shoulder.

"Katie came round this morning" he admitted after a while. "I had already been down at the paddock for a while, I needed to fly, I needed to think" he sighed, "She just turned up unannounced, as soon as I realised it was her, I escorted her off the property."

"Why are you telling me?" She questioned.

"I do not want to feel as if I am hiding things from you" he admitted, "I think it is something you would want to know. But you do not seem surprised."

Hermione nodded leaning her head back against the wall.

Sensing that she would prefer not to talk about the night before Draco tried changing the subject, "I promised you a day where you could be yourself, do whatever you need to do. I was hoping you would consent to me teaching Rose how to fly today?"

"Rose is going to Bill and Fleur's tonight for Victorie's party" she stated.

"Oh" Draco's shoulders slumped, though Hermione only knew due to the fact that his arm slipped slightly from being around her own shoulders.

Sighing she nestled further into his side, "However that is tonight, I am positive she would love to learn to fly beforehand. After all you are a very good teacher."

His chest puffed out seconds before a smirk found its way onto his handsome features. "What can I say, Merlin made some of us specifically gifted you see!" He eyed her noting that she did not roll her eyes as she usually would do at one of his outlandish statements. "Something else is on your mind" he spoke softly, placing his hand on her chin to turn her head towards him, "What is it?"

Staring into his grey irises she spoke again, "I need to go and get the rest of my stuff from him." Knowing which man she spoke of Draco offered to accompany her but Hermione immediately shuck her curly mane, "You have to go and check on your parents."

"At least take Blaise, Theo or Terry."

Hermione gave him a knowing look, "You want me to visit my ex-husband, who I only recently divorced, with a body guard consisting of and limited to a gang of Slytherins?"

Draco nodded his head, "If I am not there I wish one of, if not all three of them to accompany you to collect your stuff."

"Draco" she started off slowly, "It is bank holiday, and they don't often get to spend the time off with their families, why would I allow them to come with me?"

Draco cocked his head to the side before combing his hand through his hair to remove hair from falling into his heated face, as he thought, before he finally got a triumphant smile on his face. "The gala edition of Witch Weekly is due out tomorrow, so Pansy has to go over with a fine tooth comb and edit the stories for her section. Daphne and Mandy will be off to the hospital for a baby scan for the latter- Theo has been banned from attending, as he gets too nervous for Amanda's liking. Meaning Theo, Blaise and Terry are all free."

"And this all just happens to fall into place?" Hermione eyed Draco sceptically.

"Okay I may have to suggest a scan to Mandy and Daph…" Hermione raised her eyebrow.

"And what of the children?"

"If we go and get a television, we can entertain them with one of those movays you like to watch."

Shaking her head she corrected him, "Movie. And how will you power the television?"

Draco suddenly realised that she was right, while the plan was a good one, he did not know enough information about how to set up a television at the manor. "You could take them with you?" he asked hopeful.

"They are not minions you know"

"Surely the more you have helping you the quicker the trip will be?" he paused for a second, "I think Rose should go so she can pick up the things she most cherishes."

-HGHG-

Two hours later

Almost two hours later Hermione found herself at her former marital home accompanied by three former Slytherins. Blaise who had been finally roused from his sleep by his wife, after his rather tiring performance the night before. Theo, who had agreed to help if only so he could get his hands on a hangover potion. And Terry, who was the only one who had not needed any persuasion to help out- well any persuasion off his good friend and fellow Slytherin Draco.

Upon Hermione and Draco's timely return to the manor house Daphne had informed them that she was needed at the hospital, grumbling about how he, the he no one dared mention, had been ranting about wanting to get his girlfriend's official midwife down to the hospital to confirm that nothing was wrong. Though Daphne had been hesitate to go to the hospital Draco had asked that she go and keep both Weasel and his bint there for as long as possible to allow Hermione enough time to move her stuff out of the house- without having to deal with the red head's volatile temper again.

"Hermione" Blaise called for the fourth time in the last ten minutes. "Why do you have so many of these small book size black boxes in a box labelled 'Granger'?"

"Seriously mate did you never pay attention to Muggle studies" Theo replied. Noting the arching of his friends eyebrows he sighed, "They are a form of Muggle entertainment, known as DVD's, you can record and then play them back at any point- subject to you having a viable player available."

"Who is Robert Vaughn?" Blaise asked again, looking at Theo for his muggle knowledge, though the spectacled man shrugged his shoulders.

Hermione turned the corner into the room Theo and Blaise were occupying and immediately smiled as she saw what Blaise was holding in his hand. "He's an actor, one of my dad's favourites, and that was one of my dad's favourite shows before he died" he smile fell slightly.

"So the contents of this box is going with us then?" Blaise asked, levitating the cardboard box having placed the single DVD back inside.

Hermione nodded, "When we get to mine I may even let you watch it Blaise, I think you would enjoy it" The Italian scrunched up his nose, "You may be surprised to find that these Muggles can do some magic to" Immediately the dark skinned man had an intrigued look upon his face.

-1 hour 3 minutes later-

"You are taking his car?" Terry asked as he followed behind Hermione as she carried a box to the car in parked in the front driveway.

"It is my car actually, well my father's" she clarified, as she put an extension charm on the car, before placing the box in the boot.

She heard a whistle from the doorway as Theo looked appreciatively at the motor, "Is that what I think it is?" Hermione nodded slyly, "A 1963 DB5" when she nodded her head Theo laughed, "Does your ex know how much a collector would pay for this?"

"Ronald never got into driving," She glanced forlornly at the car, "I don't suppose you know how to drive do you Theo?"

The spectacled man rubbed the back of his neck, "I do." He paused, "But since Thomas I have not really…" he let his sentence hang in the air.

Hermione nodded, "There's a Fiat in the garage, he won't be in need of it, and so I thought I might as well take it with me. It's got a few magical alterations, but having a driverless car drive itself in Muggle towns is not exactly ideal."

"Muggle towns?" Blaise piped up having joined the group outside.

Hermione did not say anything instead focusing on getting the boxes into the extended boot of the car.

Understanding her lack of a reply Terry spoke again, "You aren't going back to the manor are you?"

Biting her lip Hermione turned to the group of men, a sad look upon her face…
