De Sidere: Ch 6: Counting the Minutes
Counting the minutes wouldn't serve any purpose, she knew, because eventually, their private moment in time would come to a screeching halt.
So instead of listening to the storm, or for the others calling out to them as they searched, as she knew they might, Kagome focused on the intimacy she and Inuyasha had found together.
She memorized every touch, every kiss.
She concentrated on the feel of him, the way he tasted beneath her tongue.
These were precious moments, not to be ruined or wasted by thinking of others, or listening to the torrent still ongoing, thankfully, outside. Time and again they came together, searching, teasing, relishing their time together as if it might be stolen from them come sunrise. And with each passing minute, she studied him. Mentally she learned the feel of his body against hers, the heat and solid-softness of his skin. She filed away the things that caused his breath to hitch and his heart to race, and what made him growl huskily in desire.
And she knew, without doubt, that he was doing the same.
And when they had exhausted themselves, she took the time to study the ramshackle hut they had found- what she could see of it anyway. She could swear that during their first passionate encounter, water had leaked from the roof, wetting their skin. But, as she studied the ceiling, not a hole could be found.
Somewhere in her mind she knew that each time she looked upon the walls of the shack, they looked different somehow, as if the building were coming together around them, molding and repairing itself.
But she knew that wasn't possible, right?
And yet, she couldn't shake the feeling that this place, this home, seemed as attached to them as they were to it.
A/N: So sorry for the wait- the weather has been all over the place, warming to the 60-70's, then dropping to the 20-30's in less than an hour.
Drastic changes like this leave me absolutely miserable, aggravating my pain to limits I had hoped would mellow some.
But anyway- enough of that:
Many thanks to those still reading and reviewing- your kindness brightens my day immeasurably- and I can not properly thank you enough for it.
Your continued support and encouragement are so very appreciated.
Thank you all, so very, very much.
Neisha
