Saturday during the day Akane and I spent ample amounts of time getting ready for the soirée. It was tradition. In spite of myself I was getting excited, and fidgeting constantly in my chair while Akane curled my hair with a high heat wand.

"I hope Aido appreciates the effort I'm going to here." Akane grumbled at one point. It was common knowledge that my hair was thick and heavy and did not curl easily; it was at minimum a two hour job.

"Even if we spent a week getting me ready for this I don't think I'll compare to any of the Night Class girls he could be appreciating." I sighed.

"Then he needs a pair of glasses as well." Akane released a curl by my temple, and it felt warm against my cheek.

We worked fairly quietly through the rest of getting ready; Akane helped me with my hair and in turn I did her makeup. Sometime before dinner Rei came over and we picked at some snacks. Once darkness approached we made our way to the soirée.

"Is my outfit okay?" I tugged them hem of my dress down even though it already hung only a couple of inches above my knees. Following that, I pulled the sleeves of my dress closer to my wrists, and adjusted my small white hat minutely where it sat on the crown of my head of curly hair.

"Stop fussing." Akane pulled my hands away from my head. "You look just fine."

Rei wrapped his arm around Akane's waist and pulled her close to him. "And so do you."

Akane blushed but didn't move from against Rei's side. I smiled at the two, and clasped my hands together to keep myself from pulling at my clothes. Part of me was nervous knowing that this will be an all-evening event where the Day Class can socialize freely with the vampires of the Night Class. I calmed slightly when I realized that this was an annual event that has insofar gone without incident.

When we got to the soirée, which was being held in one of the school's buildings that featured a ballroom, Akane and Rei kept me close when I tried to stray away.

"Don't worry, we'll stay with you until you find Aido." Akane smiled gently. "Don't feel the need to ditch us."

"In fact," Rei said, "may I have the first dance with you, Kisa-chan? Akane has to go and talk to the Class President about some of the soirée decorations."

I looked at Akane, verifying this was okay with her. She nodded. "Yeah, but you better save your second dance for me, Rei."

Rei leaned in and dropped a kiss on her cheek. "The rest of them will be for you."

Akane walked off to where I could see the Class President talking to a couple other members of the soirée committee. Rei took my hand and led me to the dance floor.

"Glad to see you're taking what I said about spontaneity seriously." I teased. I'd talked to Rei about it late last night.

"You were right though, Akane seems to like it." Rei drew me closer to him, but kept a few inches between us. He clasped my right hand in his left and put his right hand on my waist as we began to slowly move to the music that was filtering through the air.

"I wonder what Aido decided to wear..." I kind of trailed off, not really expecting an answer.

"A white suit, waistcoat, bowtie..." Rei replied like he was sure of this.

I looked at him quizzically. "How do you know?"

Rei grinned. "He's making his way over here right now."

"Excuse me, may I cut in?" Aido's voice washed over me like a wave of warm water, as if all of my nerves were slowly being unfrozen. I turned slightly to see Aido addressing Rei directly, and not looking at me. Aido had his hand held out.

Rei nodded, and placed my hand in Aido's. Aido surprised me by using his other hand to shake Rei's before Rei walked away.

"Was that a civil interaction between you and my friend I just witnessed?" I teased Aido, willing my hand that was in his not to shake as he pulled me into a similar position to what Rei had me in.

"Yes." Aido nodded. "I can be nice."

"How shocking." I laughed. "I would never have guessed."

Aido rolled his eyes and 'tsk'ed. "Oh ye of little faith." He took this time to look me over up and down carefully. I prayed I passed inspection.

"You look nice." He finally said, eyes settling on mine.

"So do you." I nodded at his ensemble, which included what Rei said as well as a white rose pinned to his lapel with a white crown pin attached to it. I pointed to it. "That's why you told me to dress like a chess queen?" I gestured at myself.

"Yes. If we're going to attend this soirée we might as well be the best looking people here."

I laughed again. "Of course."

Aido bent down a little and spoke quietly. "The Day Class girls are jealous of you."

"Of course they are. They call you 'Idol' you know." I sighed, praying I didn't pay dearly for associating with Aido in public.

"I know." Aido replied smugly with a smirk. "Quite a simple pun, don't you think?"

"I agree. If it was me I'm sure I'd find almost anything else less annoying. Hell, I'd take 'Aido-sama' over a pun of my name."

Aido drew back a bit, eyes slightly wide before smirking again. "Why don't we make them more jealous?"

"Why don't we not do that." I began trying to dissuade him but my Inner was already cringing.

"Really? I think it'd be fun." Aido smirked before using the hand he had on my waist to pull me close and close his lips around my top lip.
