"this isn't a place for you kids to be fooling around." Bill seemed to bitter, flashing a light on Emma to get another view of her and she turned her head from the blinding light as she swore she even heard Jay's teeth grind angrily.

"Maybe you missed the memo but I'm 18 now since last month." Jay said ever so sarcastically

"and you?" Bill seemed to ignore the jab in that comment, as he glanced at Emma, "What's your name?"

"E..Emma.." she said slowly, not sure if she HAD to tell him but since he was a cop, maybe she did, "And I'm 17."

Bill seemed to stare a bit at her for a while until he seemed to snap out of it and looked between them before looking back at her again, "wouldn't your dad be awfully disappointed his daughter is running around with some older guy at 1am? I take it you live in the city."

"1 Year older." muttered Jay, rolling his eyes.

"still bad news though." taunted Bill back

Emma seemed to reply to Bill calmly, "..My dad's probably too busy fooling around with another woman as well at the moment to really be disappointed or bothered."

Jay smirked widely, trying to hold in a laugh and then eyed his Dad down as he spoke again more seriously, "Fathers and their affairs, gotta love it huh?" he squinted his eyes almost hatefully at Bill.

Bill seemed to look a bit taken back, and Emma looked nervously between them until he also worked the Hogart unreadable look and then glared

Emma pieced together that Jay's Dad also had an affair. .tonight was getting crazier if possible.

"Drive the girl home, now." Bill instructed, turning to leave.

"Yes sir." replied Jay but ever so bitterly and half hearted like, and Emma wasn't sure he actually would but he seemed sarcastic. Cop, father or not, Bill held no authority over Jay it seemed.

When Bill was gone, Jay opened the back door for Emma to go inside, glaring once more over his shoulder to the way his Dad left.

"Asshole." muttered Jay, closing the door behind him and locked the door.

Emma covered her mouth while she yawned and asked, "If we go now, we can make it home for 2."

"Or we can just stay here." Jay offered smoothly, arching his eyebrow as he leaned on the wall and crossed his arms while looking at her.

Emma looked back at him and opened her mouth, but nothing came out. Her skin was hot and she felt her cheeks getting warm too. .

He smirked, "There's two bedrooms." he explained, walking over to her and stopping right infront as she replied

"how come I get the feeling you just wana hide from something?" she asked, squinting her eyes up at him

"Not from you.." he declared playfully and he raised his hand near her face and stared down at her as his fingers smoothed through her hair.

Emma looked up at him, a bit like a scared kitten. He was never really this open.. she didn't know what to think of it anymore.. willl they have this really great night, and then tomorrow he'll ask her to stay away from him again?

"Tell me what we are." Emma confirmed, watching him gaze hungrily at her lips but she put her hands on his chest from going further.

He looked bothered and looked up for a moment, "We need labels?" he sighed. He couldn't tell her what they were, he didn't even know..one thing he did know? They couldn't be 'open' about it, or A would hurt her and he wouldn't be able to live with himself or in this world if she did.

Emma moved her head back a bit when he went to cup her face and she seemed hurt, and mad.

Jay softened but still seemed annoyed with the question and huffed, shrugging, "I don't know what you want, Emma."

Emma looked at him like he was crazy. Was it not obvious!?

"You, you idiot!" Emma snapped, shoving him off her and away, as she stormed to a door she hoped was a bedroom. Just her luck, it was.

It slammed shut that even Jay cringed and he then stared at the door she was behind sadly, and madly too. Yeah she had the right to be mad, but so did he! Did she not think he wanted her too? He never chased the same girl for more than a week.. with Emma, it's been months..and ever since he met her, even then, there was always tension and longing.

Inside the bedroom, Emma fell onto the bed, curling up and trying to hold her tears in as she hugged the pillow under her. She hated herself for falling in love with someone who couldn't accept that sort of feeling, or least of all give it back. She was crazy to think he had fallen for her too. She wasn't like most girls he'd been with.. sexy or wild.. she was just little innocent naive Greenpeace to him, wasn't she?

Outside, Jay was struggling with himself to go into the room, and he crossed his arms as he paced back and forth, glaring at the bedroom door and his thoughts pounding his head.

'Just go in and say your sorry.'

'Why do I have to say sorry? I've been nothing but upfront this whole time, I told her she needs to stay away from me. I'm bad for her'

'You keep going back to her, moron. You're hurting her'

'I can't fucking help it, I can't stay away...'

Jay looked at the door with a frown and slowly leaned on it and bent down. Guess he was sleeping against a door tonight.

"Emma, please. Open the door." he said softly, which shocked even him. He turned his head a little to stare at the door knob. Nothing. He leaned his head back and shut his eyes with a sigh.

I wish I could give her what she wants... what I want.. .. .but I can't.
