A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.

Brian's POV

The Next Morning,
After I explained my plan to the Guardians, they agreed and gave me one of the temples labs to work in. I had everything I needed, except for my own blood. Amber would have to help me with that.
While I was waiting on Shade and Amber, my mind started wondering. I was putting Shade in some pretty big shoes to fill, not only would she have to look like a Night Fury, she would have to act like one too.
That brought a question to mind: How does a Night Fury behave? Yes, I was the only one at the moment, but maybe not in the future. . .
"Brian?" Volteer's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned around face him.
"Sir." I replied, "Something you need?"
"Not really Brian," The elder replied, "I just wanted to ask if I could observe."
"Yes you can sir," I answered, "But I will tell you, this is going to be a very slow process. I don't want to rush this and make mistakes or cause unnecessary pain."

"Very well," Volteer agreed, "But please, stop calling me "Sir"

It was at that point that Amber and Shade arrived, ready to start the process.
After I double-checked that I had everything I needed I began:

1)Obtain target blood sample. Amber was a great help in extracting enough blood for the rest of the project and then she just left. Odd.

2)Combine Target blood with the rest of the needed essentials. (Trust me, you do NOT want to know what the said essentials are)

3)Heat liquid blend until foaming, mix regularly to avoid layering.

4)Grind red crystal shard into powder, add to blend. That will act as a painkiller.

5)Add fifty mg of pollen from the Ashland flower to blend, cool to room temperature.

6)Fill syringe with blend, prepare subject for injection. (For Appa, that meant chaining Shade to a table and waiting until she was too weak to resist. For us however, we just had to make sure that Shade wouldn't get infected.)

Remarkably, Shade never showed fear the entire time. An uncomfortable grunt was the only sound she made during the injection.
And then she just fell asleep right in front of me. Apparently, someone didn't sleep last night. . .
Amber came back with some fruit for me and helped me carry Shade back to their room, upon putting Shade to bed I started keeping watch incase something went wrong.

Amber, before leaving for the day, managed to move a mirror into the room for Shade when she wakes up.

Shade's POV

12 Hours later
I began to wake up, as I move I noticed that I was bigger and in a different body. Brian did it! As soon as I jumped to my feet I lost my balance and fell over. Brain couldn't help but let out a small chuckle as he helped me regain my balance. With Brian's help I was able to quickly relearn how to walk and stand in my new body. It was a challenge, but I enjoyed it. Evening started to creep in as most of Warfang's shops were closing for the day. After the sun was down Brian led me out to the temple's courtyard.

"Brain," I asked, "Why are we coming out here? I mean, shouldn't we be training in a dojo or something?" Brian smiled as he chuckled.
"I'm a believer of learning on the job," Brian replied, "Besides, your more powerful than you think. One misplaced energy blast and you can kiss the entire wing goodbye."

That bit of news scared me, but I was able to shrug it off. After explaining what to expect when in flight, Brain disappeared in the blink of an eye. I tried to copy him and with one powerful beat of my wings, the land dropped far below me in an instant. Brain was waiting for me in the night sky with a pleased look on his face.

He was proud, and so was I.

After having me practice flying for a few hours Brian led me to the Alvar River and we silently landed by the shore.
"Tell me Shade," Brian asked, "What does a Night Fury have in common with a river?"
I thought about it for a moment but I couldn't find the answer, what was it?

"Many obstacles stand in a river's path," Brian explained, "But a river is patient and persistent, flowing around trees or mountains, and in time consumes the obstacle.

You must learn to let your mind flow like a river Shade. Never engage a threat blindly, observe from the shadows, learn your enemy's strengths and weaknesses. At the same time however, you need to know that the reverse is true. Know your enemy, but deny them the chance to know your abilities as well." Brian explained.

After listen to Brian's lectures for about an hour and combat training for about a week, everything began falling into place.

"A Night Fury's mind is patient, persistent, and adapts."
Skill and technique, when combined with an understanding of your enemy, will always leave the outcome in your favor.

"We must be as swift as a coursing river."
Speed was one of a Night Fury's advantages, both mentally and physically.

"We strike with the force of a great Typhoon."
Night Furies lacked the brawn and strength of dragons, but are experts at finding flaws. When a Night Fury strikes, the enemy never sees it coming, and never walks away.

"It is what our duty demands."
Honor, selflessness, courage, and vigilance define a Night Fury's role and responsibility.

"Mysterious as the dark side of the Moon."
A Night Fury's greatest strength was that we are surrounded by mystery. Very little information is certainly true about Night Furies. The rest are rumors or superstition, false intelligence that will mislead our enemies. . .
