Brian's POV

"Our most important tool as a Night Fury is sound, using it we can actually use echoes to see what others can't" I explained, If Shade get's this down, her training would be complete.

"Like seeing in the dark or outside your point of view?" Shade asked.

"Yes but with practice, you'll be able to see a lot more. Such as hairline fractures in walls or even skeletons."

"Ew, that sounds gross." Shade commented.

"Maybe, but by echoing, you will be able to explore your surroundings and hostiles, and plan accordingly. Never underestimate it."

"I see your point, how do I use it?" Shade asked.

"For starters try making a clicking sound in your throat." I advised

Shade tried a few times but she started to get it. However she did something that surprised me.

'I, I did it!' Shade cheered, but how she did it caught me off guard.

Her echo, she was talking to me through her echo, through a sound that was outside the normal range of hearing. But not for us Night Furies.

Heh, guess I still need to learn some stuff.

Dixon's POV

Warfang was busy as ever as usual. Ever since the Dark Master was eliminated, and with the terrorists dead, the rangers were kind of stuck with nothing to do. What? What happened to the terrorists you say? Well let's just say that they picked a lousy place for their "Impenetrable fortress" because when the world was reborn, those scum had a mountain falling on their heads. I doubt human firepower helped them any there. Terrador thinks that Malefor did it upon his defeat as a last good deed. I think Mother Nature did it; she sometimes has a weird sense of humor. Whether it was her or the dark master, take your pick.

Well, without the need for me as a soldier, Tarrador asked me to serve as an advisor to the Guardians. I accepted of course, I might not be as old or wise as some of the other advisors, but that was a good thing.

I became a field advisor, going out to wherever the Guardians told me, observe, help how I can while there, return to Warfang and advise the Guardians about it. A fair system, making sure that no one was left out.

I was getting supplies for my next deployment, a stone quarry that asked for additional support and a small detachment of armed warriors, claiming that they found "something" underground. (Very useful intel) The Guardians wanted me to go to the quarry and return with a better idea what was going on.

Chances were that it was nothing more than a cavern or old mole built catacombs. Volteer asked me to take one of his archivists with me in case it was a catacomb.

The archivist was a male mole obsessed with the old catacombs, a lazy attitude, and a big mouth.

"Once we get to the valley of Avalar we'll follow it upstream and then head north at Elk horn ridge until we reach the mine. Sound like a good plan human?" The advisor told me.

Clearly, this rodent never stepped outside the city's walls his whole life.

"No you idiot," I answered, "The most efficient route is through the Rolling Plains and then head west from Crescent Canyon, that will put us at the quarry in three days.

"No I'm telling you the quickest way is Elkhorn ridge!" The mole argued.

"When is the last time you looked at a map?"

"The other day, we found one that dates bac-"

"A map that wasn't made four hundred years ago?" I specified.

"Oh, well not for a few years then."

"Then let me lead on, at least I don't get lost in Warfang's museum." I said through gritted teeth. Next time I'll have to remember to decline whenever Volteer asks me to babysit a mole.

After a few hours of walking through the Rolling Plains I came across a cheetah village. The village elder was nice enough to offer us shelter and food for the night.

The sooner this is over the better.

Brian's POV

Shade was ready; there was nothing left I could teach her. The rest she'll learn on her own. I could tell a amazing change in her, (Besides her new body) When I found her she was scared, weak, and on the run for her life. Now here she stands, swift, healthy, and strong. The shy girl that never spoke has changed into a proud, young, and free dragon. It gave me great pride in the fact that my efforts to help her paid off.

She has her life back, and a family to share it with.

I want to keep it that way.

"So now what, Brother?" Shade asked as she leaned in on me, I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Now we go back to Warfang, and wait for Appa."

"You know Brother; if you said that a few months ago I would have run away in fear. But now? I love the idea. Let's go."

I was about to agree when two shadows flew over us, two shadows I knew.

Spyro and Cynder were back, from their vacation, I couldn't help but wonder about a little something.

'Let's go' I echoed to Shade, time to welcome back some old friends. . .

And "ingest" a certain dragonfly.

So Spyro and Cynder are on their way back to Warfang to share the news, Shade is fully trained and waiting to take on the vile Appa, and Sparx is going to watch his tounge, or find himself on Brians.
