If you want to conquer fear, don't sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.
Dale Carnegie
Spyro's POV
Man, it feels good to be back in Warfang again! While Cynder and I wanted to tell Brian, Amber, Shade, and the Guardians the news right away, Sparx demanded that we wait until he was with us to tell the others.
And with Sparx being himself, he left Cynder and me the moment he smelled fresh apple cobbler. (While dragons were omnivores, our normal diet consisted mostly of meat)
While we were waiting for Sparx to finish eating his food, (Where the heck does he put all that food? On second thought, don't answer that.) Cynder and I decided to visit a nearby park.
As Cynder and I arrived we saw Jim leaning up against a tree carving a curved object out of wood. Several children sat on the grass watching the human work as their parents watched from the shade of a nearby tree.
"Hey Jim." Cynder greeted as we walked over, "What do you have there?"
"G'day Cynder, Spyro," Jim replied as he checked the wooden object carefully, "Just trying to see if I can't make this little mate here a boomerang." Jim gestured to one of the cheetah cubs in the crowd, must be his birthday or something.
"A boomerang? Never heard of that before." Cynder spoke, curiosity in her voice. "What does it do exactly?"
"At first it was a hunting tool used to scare birds out of trees, now it's mostly used for sport." Jim explained as he checked the edge again. "If you throw it correctly, it will turn mid flight and come back towards you."
"Sounds like a fun toy to have." I commented.
"You got that right mate," Jim agreed, "I used to make 'em and throw 'em all the time when I was a little lad. But I haven't made one in years, so it ain't perfect, but it'll do." Jim admitted as he stood up and began testing it.
The kids watched with amazement, and waited until Jim finished teaching them how to use it.
All the children took turns playing, seeing how far they could throw it. At least, that was until an older cheetah, probably in his mid teens, swiped it and wouldn't give it back to the kids.
What a jerk, Jim seemed to agree with me because he demanded that the cheetah give it back, but to no avail.
"You say it's human made and takes some time to learn how to throw properly?" The cheetah asked.
"Yes, and it's a birthday gift for this little lad here," Jim explained, "Give it back or I'll ask the guards to arrest you for theft."
"Whatever smooth-skin," The cheetah snarled, but Jim held his ground. "Hey babe!" the cheetah called to a female cheetah about the same age sitting at a nearby table, "Watch me as I beat this smelly human at his own game!" Then he threw the boomerang across the park.
As the boomerang past me, I could hear Cynder prepare her wind element.
"Hold on Cynder," I stopped her, "I think that this is going to resolve itself."
"How?" Cynder asked as the boomerang turned around and headed back towards the cheetah that was busy trying to impress the female. . .
-CLUNK!-
The boomerang hit the cheetah in the back of the head knocking him out cold. Nice throw, lousy catch.
Sparx finally showed up again and we made our way to the temple. Hopefully everyone's there.
-INSIDE THE TEMPLE ENTRENCE-
Amber was the first one we found and I asked her if she knew where Brian, Shade, and the Guardians were because we had some good news for everyone.
"Terrador and Cyril are in their respective chambers, Volteer is in the Dojo training with Spike, and Ariel is at the healer's clinic." Amber explained.
"And what about Shade, or worse Brian?" Sparx asked looking around.
"What's the matter Sparx?" Cynder teased, "Are you afraid of shadows? Do they make you nervous?"
"No," Sparx responded, "I'm just not a fan of being eaten by a Night Fury whenever I say the I-T word."
"Shade has been working on a surprise, and as for Brian, I'm not sure." Amber said with the ever-so-subtle hint Brian was nearby. Cynder caught it too, and winked with a hidden grin on her face.
"So, I guess while we wait," I began, trying to thing of what to say next. "How was your apple-cinnamon supreme cobbler?"
"Ooh, sounds good." Amber commented, catching on to my plan.
"YOU BET IT Is. . ." Sparx's voice dropped quiet as he figured out what he said.
"Brian's right behind me isn't he?" Sparx asked as he started to shake.
"No I'm not." Brian's voice spoke. "Heads up."
I looked up and found Brian hanging upside-down directly over Sparx.
Sparx noticed it too and tried to make a run for it, and didn't quite make it.
Brian dropped down swiftly and caught Sparx in his mouth before snapping it shut. We all (Excluding Sparx because he was panicking, and Brian who had his mouth full.) started laughing our heads off for a good three minutes before Brian finally spit Sparx out.
"Night Fury spit, Gross as can be." Sparx complained as he tried to shake off the extra saliva, "Good thing there is only one of you."
"Yeah, about that. . ." Brian chukled before he made a few clicking noises.
And another Night Fury, female, dropped down to join us.
"Hello Cynder, Spyro," The female Night Fury greeted and we both recognized the voice.
"Shade? Is that really you?" Cynder asked, Me, well I was just speechless.
"Post using Appa's work against him, but yes It's me." Shade confirmed.
"I'll go get the Guardians, meet you in the meeting chamber?" Brian asked.
"Wha- Yeah, right, see you there." I finally managed to find my voice again.
When Amber said Shade was working on a surprise, she wasn't kidding.
Brian's POV
We all gathered in the meeting chamber for whatever news Spyro and Cynder had.
"Guys, I don't know how to say this but, I need to." Spyro admitted.
"I asked Cynder if she would have me, take me as her mate." Spyro explained.
"And she said yes correct?" Volteer interrupted, he was just a little exited that's all.
"Cynder never said that word in particular," Spyro noted as a smile grew on his face, "But she did accept."
"We're Married" Cynder spoke as she nuzzled into Spyro's shoulder.
"Well, I wouldn't see it any other way. Congratulations are in order." Cyril commented.
"Indeed old friend," Terrador agreed, "I'm sure Ignitus would be proud of both of you."
"Now we'll have to arrange a festival an-" Cyril plotted until Volteer calmed him down.
"Cyril, chill, let them be together in peace." Heh, that was witty and Ironic.
"Guess things are going to be different now?" Amber asked/joked.
"Not really," I answered before turning to the purple dragons, "Spyro, Cynder, Congratulations, I'm so happy for the both of you."
"Thank you, all of you."
