Dawn's POV

I was forced awake early in the morning by my alarm clock blaring my favorite song Treasure by Bruno Mars. I cracked an eye open and groggily slammed my hand on the top of my alarm multiple times until I finally hit the button that shut off the noise.

I was about to fall back into blissful asleep when then I remembered what day it was. I groaned knowing today was the day I've dreaded for the past 2 weeks.

Today was officially the first day of school.

Robin and I go to Gotham Academy and when we were younger we were advanced in our studies so we were bumped up a year ahead of everyone else. So even though technically we're currently in the 9th grade most of our classes are 10th/11th grade level classes. Gotham Academy offers classes for grades 7 through 12.

Robin and I have attended GA for 2 years now, but this is our first day of being official high schooler's so even though we've been at the school for years we're still considered freshman until we finish the 9th grade.

I sluggishly sat up in bed and internally whined when I looked at the clock to see it was 4:00 in the morning.

Usually getting up this early wouldn't bother me since I'm used to going to bed late and getting up at insane hours of the morning for superhero duties, but this morning was different. Because I knew school was today it made the morning seem so much worse than it really was, and on top of all that I was getting up two hours earlier than what I usually do so I'd have enough time to wish Superboy and Megan luck on their first day of school.

I thought the first day of high school at a school for rich, arrogant, and snobby teenagers who are all older than me was going to be hard, I couldn't even imagine going to school for the first time and skipping straight to high school. Talk about worst torture imaginable.

I dragged myself out of my nice warm bed and shuffled to the bathroom like a mindless zombie before beginning my daily routine of getting ready. After I'd brushed my teeth, washed my face, and taken a shower I put on the GA school uniform that I hated with all my being.

It consisted of a form-fitting white blouse partly covered by a dark blue vest with the school logo on the upper right hand corner, an extremely short dark blue skirt, white knee-high socks and simple black flats or boots.

The uniform wouldn't have been so bad if the skirts weren't so freaking short! The skirts only reach to slightly above my middle thigh and every time I put it on I feel the urge to constantly tug the ends to try to make it longer, but unfortunately no such luck.

I sighed giving up on the tugging and quickly did my hair. I curled the ends so it flowed down my shoulders in pretty loose ringlets. I grabbed my phone from the desk and my backpack from the floor before walking out of my bedroom.

It took me 45 minutes to get ready and 15 minutes to make and eat breakfast. The house was still dark when I left since Aunt Sue wasn't up yet. I silently slipped out of the house and started walking towards the zeta tube disguised as a phone booth. I told Aunt Sue I'd be leaving early to go to the cave before school and she agreed to let me go as long as I was extra careful.

I quickly got to the phone booth and teleported to the cave without any trouble from Gotham residents, which now that I think about it is a miracle since it was still dark out. I know first hand how crazy Gotham gets at night so I counted myself lucky that I didn't have to slow down to beat up a few criminals on the street.

If Bruce knew I was walking alone in the dark this late, correction early, in the morning dressed in my almost too skimpy to be considered a school uniform attire he'd probably kill me, resurrect me, then kill me again just to get the point across. But sometimes what he doesn't know won't hurt him.

I walked out of the zeta tube and flew into the living room. I dropped my backpack on the couch and took off my vest, but kept on the white blouse underneath.

My teammates know my identity, but I had a feeling that some of the Justice League members would be making an appearance to see Megan and Superboy off so I didn't want to risk someone recognizing the logo. I didn't want to get in trouble with Bruce for accidentally slipping up and showing everyone where I went to school. That would make it too easy for the people who don't know it already to figure out my secret ID.

I stuffed my vest into my bag and left it on the couch before flying off to find my teammates. I had black volleyball shorts underneath my skirt so I wasn't worried about flying with my skirt on. I flew towards the garage until I heard voices coming from the hallway in front of me. I turned the corner to see Manhunter, Red Tornado, Megan, and Aqualad walking towards me.

"Hey guys," I yelled flying to them.

They smiled as I flew up "Hello Shade. I see it's your first day of school as well" Manhunter stated noticing my uniform.

"Unfortunately" I sighed frowning.

"Why are you not excited Shade? Going to school seems like such an amazing experience" Megan squealed hovering above the ground. I could feel her excitement flowing from her in waves.

"Trust me Megan give it a month or two and you'll get sick of it real soon" I drawled in a bored tone.

"We're going down to the garage to find Superboy and wish him and Megan good luck on the first day of their earth education experience" RT said as we started walking again.

"Yeah I figured he'd be down there. I've noticed that he's become quite the grease monkey lately. I'm starting to think he's going to be a mechanic when he gets older" I smirked as we walked into the garage and saw Superboy with a wrench in his hand working on his motorcycle.

"Told ya, born to be a mechanic," I whispered softly to Aqualad as we walked down the steps.

Sphere was beside Superboy and she released a combination of beeps and clicks as we entered.

"Well hello to you too Sphere," I greeted flying over to give her a pat on the top of the head.

Superboy believed Sphere was a boy, but I thought she was a girl, but I guess we'll never know whose right.

I walked away from Sphere and started circling the motorcycle with scrutinizing eyes.

"It's looking good SB, you've done a nice job with it. Keep going like this and you'll have it up and running within days" I complimented resting a hand on the handlebars.

"Thanks Shade" Superboy smiled tightening up one last bolt under the bike while I walked over to his side and leaned against the side of the motorcycle. The motorcycle was big and propped up on the floor with a stand so it didn't collapse under my weight when I leaned against it.

"Ready for school? I made our lunches" Megan cut in as she flew over.

"The first day of a scholastic season carries great cultural resonance. We want to wish you both well," J'onn said encouragingly.

"Guess it's not a Kryptonian thing" Superboy said downcast wiping the grease from his hands with a towel as he noticed a certain Kryptonians absence.

The hurt puppy dog look on Superboy's face made me want to storm over to Metropolis and beat the stuffing out of Superman, but I suppressed my anger so I wouldn't upset Superboy. I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder and gave him a squeeze of support.

He might not have Superman, but he had plenty of other people in his life that cared about him and I wanted to make sure he remembered that.

"You may wish to change before you depart" Aqualad suggested noticing Superboy's attire which consisted of a black t-shirt with the Superman symbol on the chest, grease stained blue jeans, and black tennis shoes.

"I spent hours choosing this outfit," Megan said lightheartedly. She twirled and as she spun her hero uniform morphed into civvies.

She now had on a white tank top with a red midriff jacket over it. The knee-length skirt she wore was the same color as the jacket. On her feet were white mid calf socks and black flats. She stopped twirling once her clothes finished morphing and turned to face Aqualad and I. I noticed however that though her clothes were normal her skin was still a deep Martian green.

"What do you think? Can M'gann M'orzz pass as an earth girl now?" she asked in her usual overly cheery voice.

Aqualad and I looked at each other and said "uhhhhhhh" neither of us quiet sure on how to tell her she couldn't go to school with her skin green.

Megan giggled seeing our hesitant faces "just kidding, meet Megan Morse."

As she spoke her skin changed from a deep martian green into a soft tan Caucasian.

I grinned and offered her a smile, "You'll pass just fine Megan."

"So what's your new name?" she asked Superboy who just stared at her confused.

"My what?" he asked raising an eyebrow.

Seeing his confusion J'onn spoke up while morphing from a Martian into a tall, built black male wearing a dark blue business suit.

"I chose the name John Jones for myself and suggested John Smith for Red Tornado. You could be a John too," he suggested trying to be helpful.

"Pass" Superboy said curtly folding his arms.

"Conner's always been my favorite name" Megan added shyly placing a tender hand on his massive bicep. Superboy looked down at her and shrugged, which was his way of showing he accepted the name.

"A last name will also be required" Aqualad commented.

"Perhaps…Kent" J'onn suggested slyly.

Everyone in the room understood why J'onn suggested the name Kent except for Megan and Superboy who were completely clueless.

"Ohhhhhh in memory of Dr. Fate, the late Kent Nelson" Megan said thoughtfully but clearly not understanding the connection between the name and Superman.

J'onn frowned slightly but decided to let it slide so things wouldn't get awkward. He morphed back into a Martian and answered her statement with a low "of course" even though that wasn't what he meant.

"Ok sure. I guess it'd be an honor or something" Superboy said not really caring.

"Well Conner Kent, time to change your shirt" Megan said bluntly.

Superboy placed a hand on his chest and gapped at her as if he was appalled by the mere thought of changing his Superman shirt.

"I think what Megan means is that you don't want to reveal your secret identity SB" I clarified.

Superboy looked back and forth between Megan and I before finally deciding to give in. He swiftly pulled off his shirt revealing his toned arms and muscular chest.

I raised an eyebrow wondering how he interrupted what we said about changing his shirt into taking off his shirt in front of everyone.

Superboy being the clueless person that he is, was oblivious to the major blush overtaking Megan's cheeks as she shamelessly stared at his muscles.

He held the shirt out to Megan and sighed, "Will this work?"

Megan sighed and said "works for me" while dreamily looking up and down Conner's chest. I turned to Aqualad and we gave each other knowing looks as we saw the exchange between the two.

"Conner as much as I bet the girls at your school would love to see you go to school shirtless I don't think it'll make the best first impression. Schools usually require people to be fully clothed while attending school," I said holding back a smile.

I looked down at the microscopic piece of fabric I was wearing called a school skirt and mumbled to myself "well at least most schools do."

Conner put his shirt back on and he and Megan walked to his room to find a suitable shirt for him to wear. As they walked away I heard Superboy mutter "wait, shouldn't I be Conner Nelson then?"

I chuckled as they disappeared and J'onn said, "they grow up so fast" which Sphere agreed to with a loud beep.

I looked up at the clock on the wall and noticed the time.

"Ok people as much fun as this has been I unfortunately have school and I can't be late for the first day. J'onn it was nice to see you, same to you Red. Aqualad I'll see you later tonight" I said giving them each a hug as they said their goodbyes.

I waved goodbye and flew off towards the zeta tubes. I grabbed my bag and pulled on my sweater before teleporting back to Gotham.

I looked down at my watch and noticed that I had about an hour left before school started. I began making my way to Gotham Academy since I was supposed to meet Dick before school so we could get our things together.

I arrived at GA 15 minutes later and Dick was already waiting for me at the bottom of the steps. He was in a pair of khaki pants with a solid black belt securing them around his waist. Over his chest was a short-sleeved white button up polo shirt with a long-sleeved dark blue blazer over it. He had a loose red tie wrapped around his neck and a black watch clasped around his wrist. Fun fact about the watch is that it's also a communicator and emergency notification device.

We both have one and we always wear them to school. Mine's small and silver with a big black S in the middle connecting the hands of the clock in the center of the S while Robin's was black and red with a big red R in the middle. Bruce designed them himself and gave them to us as a way to contact him if something happened at school or vice versa for if he needed us in costume during school hours.

I waved as I walked up to him. He stood once I was two steps away from him and we started walking towards the door.

"Hey Dick you ready for the first day of the many torturous days to come" I asked sarcastically as we walked to our lockers.

He snorted, "Yeah the year hasn't even started yet and I'm already ready for it to be over. School makes me almost wish for clean up duty at the batcave," he whispered shivering at the thought.

"Uh yeah I know how you feel, but thankfully we have Mr. Danforth as a teacher this year. He's so laid back compared to the other teachers and he doesn't give out a pile of homework every night like most people."

We walked through the hallways searching for our lockers and after about 5 minutes of searching we finally found them. I'd already memorized my locker combination so I quickly plugged it in and unlocked my locker. Dick's locker was to my right and we had most of our classes' together. Talk about lucky or what!

I stuffed everything I didn't need for my first two classes in my locker before locking it shut. I packed the supplies I needed for class in the small black shoulder bag we get from the school every year. They don't want us carrying big bulky backpacks around campus so they give us shoulder bags to hold all our supplies in. Their excuse for this is that the shoulder bags make us look more presentable then lugging around big backpacks everywhere.

The first bell rang just as we finished packing our lockers and organizing our bags.

"Well as the saying goes let the games begin," I said as we walked into our first class.

(line)

The day went by relatively fast and I didn't have any major problems.

Most of my teachers were nice enough except for my math teacher Ms. Smith who I swear is out to get me. She wrote down one of the easiest problems in the world on the board and called on the daughter of one of her closest friends to answer it. Now not to be mean or anything but the girl she called on is about as smart as a bag of rocks and wasn't paying attention to anything Ms. Smith was saying so she answered the question wrong.

Since she's one of the richest students at GA and her best friends daughter Ms. Smith said it was ok that she missed the problem and that she appreciated the effort. It was at this point that things started to go south.

She wrote down a new equation on the board and called on me to answer it. The downside of this was that this problem was one of the harder equations that we weren't even suppose to have learned yet, but thankfully I went a little ahead in the book last year so I knew how to solve it.

I answered the problem correctly, much to her displeasure, but then she started mocking me by saying since I was obviously at a higher learning level I should do higher level work so she gave me 10 pages full of math problems that are due at the beginning of class tomorrow.

Like I said she's out to get me.

Luckily this year I have lunch with both Dick and Sasha so now we all have the chance to hang out a little more everyday. Sasha's in the same year as us even though she's 14 because we skipped a grade.

During lunch Dick and I caught her up to speed on what's been going on with the team and my brother. She freaked out when I told her my brother was alive and ordered me to explain what happened and not to leave out a single detail. Dick and I switched back and forth between telling her the story and she listened intently taking in every word we said. At the end she was happy for me and can't wait to actually meet Jake for herself someday.

The rest of the day went by like any other school day, except for the very end. The end of the day was by far the most interesting and confusing.

When the final bell rang students rushed out into the hallways speeding to get to their lockers and cars so they could head home and relax.

I raced to my locker and grabbed the rest of my books and my backpack before slamming the door shut. As I was putting the lock back on the door I felt someone walk up behind me.

I knew it wasn't Dick because this person's footsteps were too heavy and loud. I turned and came face to face with the one person I wasn't expecting to see.

Standing in front of me was the famous David Cage, the symbol of popularity at Gotham Academy. He's the best Quarterback GA's had in years and he's only a sophomore. He also plays soccer and is the best forward at the school.

Unlike most of the jocks at GA David is actually a smart kid. He does well in all of his classes and is in the top 5% academically at the school, which by the way isn't an easy thing to do.

He's also one of the nicest guys here…or so I've been told. He doesn't let his ego get the best of him and he isn't a major player like some of his friends. All the girls he's gone out with in the past have been steady relationships and not just one-night hookups. He doesn't go for the easiest girl in the school just because he can, but that doesn't stop every girl from having a major crush on him, well except for me off course. I could care less who he is or what he does, but I'm nice to him because he's not a snobbish egotistical jerk like most of the guys here.

Now even though I don't have a crush on the guy I do have to admit he's hot. He's tall and built with muscles big enough to rival Superboy's. Every time he moves they ripple and seem to glide over his body. His big tough but soft eyes were a rich amber brown that could make any girl swoon with just one look. One glance inside those pretty brown orbs and you'll be mesmerized.

I've heard that his short silky blond curls are so soft you could spend hours coursing your hands through it and never get tired of it. His jaw was strong and firm as if God chiseled it himself.

He was without a doubt the hottest guy at the school. David and I have only talked a couple of times despite the fact that we've both attended GA for years. The dude's hot, but I'm one of the few girls at GA who don't want him for themselves, despite his looks and popularity.

His face lit up with his charming smile revealing all his straight pearly white teeth "hey Dawn how was your first day" he asked.

"As good as any first day could be, but I think Ms. Smith hates me" I said truthfully shrugging my shoulders.

He laughed, "Don't take it personally. Ms. Smith chooses a girl to pick on every year and gives her the most homework out of everyone, but on the bright side that person always becomes a math wiz for the rest of their high school career so really if you think about it she's doing you a favor."

"Well it sure doesn't feel like one" I huffed swinging my bag over my shoulder.

"I understand how you feel. Mr. Tanner gave me all kinds of extra work last year just because he thought I was some dumb jock who only made good grades because the teachers were lenient and let me slide so I could play in games. It took me up until the very end of the year to finally earn his respect. Trust me, once this year is over you'll look back on this and laugh at how Ms. Smith treated you" he said casually leaning against my locker with his arms folded.

"Lets hope so, but for now I'm not laughing. If I could I would've told her exactly where she can shove her extra homework, but I didn't want to get a detention on the first day so I restrained myself" I said grinning.

He smirked "There's that feistiness I've heard so much about. Hasn't even been a full week and the claws are already coming out" he joked.

"I'm not feisty, I'm just speaking my mind" I said playfully punching him in the arm.

He grinned and grabbed his arm pretending like it hurt while I glanced over his shoulder and saw a familiar head of hair coming down the hall. Dick walked around David and stood beside me.

"Hey Cage," he greeted giving David a calculating look "what are you doing here."

"Just talking to Dawn before going to football practice" David responded casually. Dick raised an eyebrow at him suspiciously.

"Well Dawn I see that you have to go, but its been fun talking to you. We should do it again sometime" David said in his soft but husky voice as he pushing himself off the lockers.

He grabbed a pen and a piece of paper from his bag and quickly wrote down his cell phone number. He returned the pen to his bag and handed me the paper while taking a step forward.

"Call me some time, maybe I can help you with your Ms. Smith problem. She loves me so maybe I can convince her to ease up a bit. I hope to see you at one of the games cheering us on" he said as I grabbed the paper from his hands.

I looked up from the paper and just now noticed how close we were. I pulled my hand away from his and took a hasty step back creating some space between us.

Dick narrowed his eyes at David, but not obvious enough for him to notice the death glare he was receiving.

I offered David a small friendly smile "thanks that would be great if you could talk to her. I have a lot of after school activities, but I'll definitely try to come to at least one game."

"Dawn we should really get going or we're going be late," Dick said slightly growling as he pulled on my sleeve and dragged me with him.

"Alright, alright I'm coming no need to drag me around like a lost puppy" I grumbled before glancing over my shoulder.

"It was nice talking to you David," I said giving him a wave before Dick dragged me down the hall.

"You too Dawn" he grinned giving me a two finger salute/wave.

After my goodbye I turned so Dick wasn't dragging me anymore and failed to notice David watching us until we were completely out of his sight.

As Dick and I walked out of the large school doors we saw Alfred waiting for us in one of Bruce's cars.

"Since when are you and David Cage so buddy buddy" Dick asked saying David's name with a hint of bitterness as we waked down the stairs.

I shrugged "we aren't. I never really talked to him until now and he walked up to me not the other way around. Why are you asking?"

"Well from the way you two were talking, it seemed like you've been friends forever" he grumbled as we walked into the car.

"How was you day master Dick, mistress Dawn" Alfred asked turning the wheel of the car to pull out of the parking lot.

"It was good Alfred thanks for asking," I said smiling at him through the rearview mirror.

Dick and I did our homework in the car so we'd be allowed to go to the cave once we got to the house. Even with the extra math work it didn't take me long to finish since the other teachers didn't give out much work today.

We pulled into the garage of the Wayne Manor and I hopped out of the car before it even came to a full stop. I flew out of the garage and up to my room to change out of my school clothes. I have a closet full of clothes at the mansion since it's like my second home. This way I always have something to change into when I stay over.

I tore off my uniform and tossed it into the laundry bin before walking towards my closet. I pulled out a pair of white skinny jeans and a pink halter-top. I pulled on my black knee-high length boots and the bracelet Robin gave me for my 10th birthday.

Originally it was a small silver charm bracelet with only 5 charms on it. It had a dark blue D for Dawn, a bright red R for Robin, a black B for Batman/Bruce, a grey A for Alfred, and a bright gold S for Aunt Sue.

Over the years I've added more charms to represent the other important people in my life. Now along with the original 5 charms is a pink S for Sasha, a yellow W for Wally, a green M for Megan/Miss Martian, a red A for Aqualad, a bright green A for Artemis, a yellow B for Barry, a silver I for Iris, a purple Z for Zaphira, a dark orange R for Roy, a dark green O for Ollie, a dark blue C for Black Canary, a crystal blue P for Priscilla, a silver J for Jake, and a dark red S for Superboy.

Once I was fully dressed I walked out of the room and floated down to the batcave where Bruce and Dick were sitting by the computer in civilian clothes. Robin was in a pair of dark blue jeans and a black t-shirt with the words 'I can't help that I'm a genius," printed in bold white on the chest. His black shades were on his face covering his bright blue eyes. Bruce was in a black business suit with a blood-red tie wrapped around his neck.

"Hey Bruce" I greeted flying over to give him a hug. I was still in the air when I gave him a hug so I was the same height as him.

"How was your first day of school" he asked curious.

"It was good I didn't have any problems with any of the students and most of my teachers are ok" I responded.

"Good" Bruce said ruffling my hair with his hand.

"Bruce!" I whined swatting his hand away before coursing my hand through my hair to fix it.

"What?" Bruce asked innocently acting like he didn't know what he did.

I rolled my eyes and turned to Robin "you ready to go?"

"Yeah let's head out," he answered walking towards the zeta tubes.

"Be back before patrol and Dawn you're having dinner with us tonight since Sue is coming over to help Alfred with dinner" Bruce informed us before we left.

"Ok, see you later Bruce" I said waving as we teleported to the mountain.

(line)

When we arrived at the mountain we walked towards the living room where everyone was already sitting in couches and chairs talking.

"Hey guys," I said as we walked over to them.

"Hey Dawn, hey Rob" Wally greeted from his seat on the couch.

All the chairs in the room were already taken except for the spot on the couch in-between Wally and Superboy, but Robin got to it before I did. Since there were no more available seats and I didn't feel like sitting on the floor I decided to sit on someone.

I walked over to the couch and laid on my back across the laps of the three boys on the couch. I laid my head on Wally's thigh while the rest of my body was draped over Robin's lap with my feet ending on Superboy's knee.

"Wally looked down at me on his thigh "is there a reason your laying on us Dawn" he asked sarcastically.

"Do you see anymore available seats anywhere" I paused to look around the room "…no so deal with it" I quipped grinning up at him.

I lifted my head to look at Robin and Superboy "you two have a problem with this?" I asked even though I didn't really care what their answer was. I wasn't going to move even if they said yes.

"I don't have a problem with it" Superboy shrugged and Robin nodded in agreement.

I laid back down and smiled victoriously at Wally "see your overruled so stop whining" I said turning my head to look at the rest of the team.

"Ok so on to more important matters, Megan and Conner how was your first day attending the earth educational system," I asked curious to see how they faired.

"I joined the cheerleading squad" Megan squealed clasping her hands together and bouncing in her seat as her eyes twinkled with excitement.

"Robin you owe me ten bucks," I said laughing as he mumbled incoherently and handed me a 10-dollar bill.

"Robin and I made a bet on if you would join the cheerleading squad or not. I bet you would join the squad on the first day so I won. I knew you'd turn out to be a cheerleader, you're too bubbly not to be.

Wally grinned and shook his head at Robin "Dude when are you going to learn that you can't win a bet against Dawn. She's never lost a bet and she's not about to lose one now."

Robin muttered something incoherent while I grinned up at him.

I patted his thigh and spoke in a voice similar to a mother talking to a pouting child "aw poor baby don't be upset. It's ok one day you'll realize its pointless to bet against me and still think you'll win. One day you'll just accept your inevitable defeat."

Robin just gave me a playful glare while Wally laughed.

"Anyways getting back on topic how was your first day Conner?" I asked lifting my head to look at him.

He shrugged "I guess it was ok. I got into an argument with this jerk Mal Duncan before school started, but I became friends with this kid named Marvin."

I raised an eyebrow and lifted myself up so I wasn't lying on Wally's thigh anymore. I was now sitting on Robin's lap with my back leaning against Wally's shoulder and my legs still draped across Superboy's legs.

"Do you need me to knock some heads in" I said half serious half-joking.

Now it was Conner's turn to raise an eyebrow "Uh no Dawn you don't have to bash any heads in. If anyone gets to take a swing at him it'll be me" he said firmly.

"Ok ok just checking," I said holding my hands up in surrender "but the offer still stands if you need it later" I said completely serious.

He grinned, but didn't respond.

Artemis looked down at my wrist and noticed my charm bracelet. "Nice bracelet Dawn where'd you get it?"

"It was a gift from Robin for my 10th birthday. Originally it only had 5 charms on it representing the five most important people in my life back then, but as the years went by I added more charms. Each charm represents an important person in my life. You all have one, its like a bracelet that represents each member of my family so to speak" I said showing them the bracelet while explaining whose charm was whose.

"I like it" Artemis said looking at all the charms.

"So Dawn how was your first day," Megan asked leaning forward in her seat to catch every detail.

I shrugged "It was as good as any first day could be I guess. I got to see my friends that I didn't get to hang out with during the summer and most of my teachers were nice except for Ms. Smith cause she hates me, but hopefully David will take care of her for me" I said nonchalant.

Looking back on this I probably shouldn't have mentioned David's name in a room full of teens that I consider my older brothers and sisters and long time best friend, but it was too late to take it back now. Robin tensed up and the mention of a high school boy they didn't know piqued the interest of everyone else in the room.

"Who's David" Artemis asked the question on everyone's minds.

"He's just a guy at my school. I never really talked to him until today. He's the school's star quarterback and soccer forward, but unlike the other jocks at school he's actually nice and doesn't let his ego consume him," I said unintentionally giving David a compliment. Again looking back I probably shouldn't have said this either.

All the guys in the room were listening suspiciously while Artemis grinned and Megan squealed on the inside.

"Is he cute" Megan asked giddily causing everyone to look at me waiting for my answer.

I shifted in my seat starting to get uncomfortable with where this conversation was going "I'm not really into him, but I mean I guess he's not bad-looking. All the girls at my school are obsessed with him. He even has his own fan club on campus believe it or not."

Megan's smile grew "do you have a picture?" she asked jumping in her seat.

"Why?" I asked scrunching up my eyebrows in confusion.

"So we can judge for ourselves if he's hot or not" Artemis said as if it was obvious.

I titled my head to the side and thought about it "I don't have a picture on my phone since I don't know him that well…but we do have a school fan page for all the sport and special event updates so I bet he's on that" I said pulling out my phone.

I searched through the website looking for a picture and came up with a good one that showed him clearly. It was one of him playing recreational soccer on the field with his friends after school.

I didn't really want to show them this picture since he was shirtless, but it was the only good clear photo of him so I had to use it. All the other photos were either blurry or didn't show his face clearly.

Sometimes after school some of the guys play soccer on the field, but the rule is that if you play you have to go shirtless. Needless to say it's a popular event for a majority of the girls at my school. I've only gone once and that was because Sasha dragged me against my will because I told her I was just going to hang out at the house and watch TV.

In the photo he was in the process of running towards the camera, but the shot was solely focused on him so it was a good picture. I made it full screen and tossed the phone to Artemis who caught it out of instinct.

She looked at the photo and her eyes bugged out of her head "DANG girl what are you talking about? He's not just hot he's the definition of sexy on earth!" she yelled staring at the photo.

She glanced up from the phone and looked at me in disbelieve "and you said he was just ok looking…are you blind! Do you not see the muscles on this guy, his abs have abs! He has almost as much raw muscle as Superboy does and that's saying something cause he's human" she yelled looking back at the photo.

Megan grabbed the phone from Artemis' hands and looked at it "I have to agree Dawn he is very good-looking" she said looking at the photo.

I noticed Conner growl lowly when she said this so I tried to take the phone back and change the subject, but Wally stood up and zipped over to Megan grabbing the phone from her hands with his super speed before I could react. When he stood up I yelped in surprise before falling back on the couch since my back support disappeared.

Wally looked at the photo and glared at it. The longer he stared the more his glare intensified. Still staring at the photo Wally yelled out the words "guys get over here."

Robin and Superboy quickly, but gently, pushed me off of them and onto the couch as all the guys rushed over to look at the photo. They all glared at the screen, but all for different reasons.

Superboy glared because this kid seemed to be into the girl he considered his little sister and to make matters worse Megan thought he was hot.

Wally and Aqualad also played the role of older brothers and didn't like the idea of a boy, let alone a "sexy" boy as Artemis would say interested in their "little sister", and then their was Robin.

He had multiple feelings going through his head at the moment and he didn't know which one he was reacting to the most. He didn't like the idea of David liking Dawn just as much, if not more, than the other boys. Dawn was his best friend and he didn't want her falling for a jock that wasn't going to treat her right and just end up breaking her heart, because then he'd have to kill the dude for hurting his best friend. But he also had this weird feeling in the pit of his stomach and a nagging voice in the back of his head telling him that wasn't the only reason he didn't like David having feelings for Dawn.

I sat up on the couch and used my telekinesis to lift the phone out of Wally's hands and back into mine "Ok I think that's enough picture looking for one night" I said putting the phone back in my pocket.

"We might be done looking at the photo but we are sooooo not done talking about him. We need details, what's he like, whats he do, how old is he, stuff like that" Artemis said rapidly.

"You guys are acting like I'm dating him or something," I mumbled folding my arms.

"Which you're not right!" Wally asked quickly with a hint of nervousness in his voice.

"No KF! I don't even know the guy," I yelled.

"How about you tell us what you guys talked about today," Megan suggested cupping her face in her hands as she leaned forward and looked at me expectantly.

"Yes tell us all about it" Aqualad said sounding calm on the outside as he sat back in his chair even though on the inside he was far from calm. Conner, Robin, and KF sat in front of me on the floor leaving me alone and the center of attention on the couch.

"There's nothing to say. He came up to me when I was taking stuff out of my locker and asked me how my first day went. I told him it was good except for Ms. Smith, because she hates me for no reason. He told me not to take it personally since she always has a girl in her class that she decides to pick on just because she's a mean old lady.

He then offered to help me out by asking her to ease up a bit since she loves him and will probably listen if he asks. Afterwards he said he hoped to see me at one of the football games supporting the team. I thanked him for offering his assistance and said I'd try to make a game and then Robin showed up.

They talked for a while, but then we had to leave so we wouldn't be late getting here. As we left he said it was nice talking to me and that we should do it again sometime" I finished purposely leaving out the part where he called me feisty and gave me his number. I don't know if Robin was close enough to hear him call me feisty, but hopefully he wouldn't mention it if he did.

Robin narrowed his eyes and folded his arms in frustration "you're not telling the full story Dawn" he said reprimanding me.

Crap so he did hear!

"No I'm pretty sure that's everything," I said deciding to play dumb and pretend like I didn't know what he was implying.

"Oh yeah sure that's everything, except for the part where he called you feisty and gave you his number telling you to call him" Robin growled.

"WHAT?!" Wally yelled causing me to jump in my seat.

"No she conveniently left that part out." Aqualad said folding his arms.

"How could you leave that out Dawn? That's like the most important part! He gave you his number and you didn't think that was important?" Artemis yelled "And why did he call you feisty?"

"I was telling him about Ms. Smith and how if I could I'd tell her exactly where to shove her extra homework if it wasn't for me not wanting to get a detention on the first day of school. He laughed and called my feisty saying it hasn't even been a week yet and my claws were already coming out," I said looking from face to face trying to evaluate their expressions.

"WHAT?!" Wally screamed again growing more and more irritated with the kid by the minute.

"Ok seriously KF can you PLEASE stop doing that!" I snapped irritated with the yelling.

"How old is he" Aqualad asked eyes narrowing slightly.

"He's a sophomore so 15"

"He's two years older than you" Superboy said folding his arms.

"I'm like a month and a half away from being 14 SB he's not that much older than me," I countered taking offense to him making me sound like a little kid.

"Do you still have his number?" Artemis asked.

I nodded "yeah its in my pocket."

"Are you going to call him" Megan asked eyes twinkling in excitement.

"Probably not. Like I said before I don't really know him so why would I call him?" I said leaning back to lie on the couch.

I closed my eyes and had my head facing the ceiling with my hands clasped behind my head.

"Uh duh because he was flirting with you and from what I've heard he was very forward about it" Artemis said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"He was not" I argued, "He has like 99% of the girls at school obsessed with him. If he wanted a girl he could've easily gone for one of them," I said immediately with my eyes still closed.

"Seriously Dawn you are so clueless sometimes" Artemis said pinching the bridge of her nose while shaking her head.

"I am not," I snapped back.

"The whole reason he likes you is because you don't like him like everyone else does. You don't like him so you won't make it easy. To him you're a challenge and you know boys like a good challenge" Artemis smirked.

Conner, Wally, Robin, and Aqualad growled lowly and gritted their teeth.

"No he doesn't need to be challenging anything over here, he needs to take his challenges somewhere else" Wally hissed.

"Agreed" Conner snarled.

"Boys stop it, you're all acting so immature" Artemis barked slapping Wally in the back of the head.

"OW Artemis! And we're not acting immature; we're merely fulfilling our duty as older brothers. No one needs to see Dawn as any sort of challenge for anything" he said to Artemis rubbing the back of his head to ease the pain.

Artemis rolled her eyes "you're acting immature" she muttered.

"I think it's cute she's in denial" Megan offered making me slap my hand over my eyes and huff in frustration.

"How many times do I have to say this for it to register through your thick skulls? We do not like each other. We're just friends and barely even that" I grumbled turning to them.

Artemis gave me an amused smirk and said something I will never forget "sounds more like friends with benefits to me."

Her grin widened upon seeing my shocked expression.

"Artemis!" I screeched throwing a pillow at her face.

Aqualad choked on the water he was drinking and started gagging and spluttering in his seat.

Wally screamed "over my dead body!" at the same time Superboy growled "I'll kill him if he even thinks it!"

Robin just sat there frozen and tried to get the images of Dawn hooking up with David out of his head.

"Uh Artemis I could've gone my entire life without hearing that" he grumbled putting his hands over his ears shaking his head.

"Uh images! IMAGES! Get em out get em out GET EM OUT!" Wally yelled hitting his head like that would clear his mind of what he just thought and heard.

Artemis busted out into laughter "my god people I was only joking you didn't have to take it so seriously." Megan joined in her laughter as the boy's cringed on the floor and I blushed a deep red.

It was at that exact moment my phone started buzzing. I fished it out of my pocket and thanked God for the perfect timing. I looked at the contact and answered it.

"Hi Aunt Sue…yeah we'll be there soon, ok love you too bye." I hung up the phone and stuffed it back into my pocket.

"Ok everyone as fun as this has been Rob and I have to go. Dinner's almost ready and you know how Aunt Sue is about people being on time for dinner" I said stretching as I stood from the couch.

"We'll walk you out," Artemis offered as she and Megan stood up and the three of us walked towards the zeta tubes. Once we were out of the boy's earshot, except for Superboy's since he had super hearing, we started talking.

"Don't let the boys get to you ok, they just worry. You're the youngest of the group and you're a girl so they feel the need to protect you the most. To everyone but Robin you're like the younger sister they never had so they don't like the idea of someone liking you as more than a friend, but I say if this David guy likes you then go for it. He's definitely a catch and probably an amazing kisser, but I'll leave that for you to decide later." I lightly punched Artemis in the arm but she just grinned and continued.

"However I will say this, if any guy hurts you in any way, shape, or form they'll get a personal visit from my extra pointy arrows," she said suddenly getting serious.

"And I can drive them insane by talking in their head continuously and make them think their going crazy" Megan added placing a hand on my shoulder.

I rolled my eyes but smiled gratefully "what is it with your people and over reacting. I told you he doesn't like me and I don't like him, end of story," I said.

I love my team, really I do, they're my family, but they can get just a little too overprotective at times.

"Whatever you say Dawn, whatever you say" Artemis joked slinging an arm around my shoulder and ruffled my hair.

"Artemis!" I whined swatting her away.

Is it just me or is anyone else getting a strange sense of déjà vu here.

Back in the living room the boys watched the girls leave the room before turning to face each other.

"I don't like it, I don't like it at all" Wally mumbled folding his arms across his chest.

"Neither do I" Aqualad huffed.

"Dawn might say he doesn't like her, but I'm a high school boy and I know the signs and from what I've heard he likes her. First it starts off with just talking and causal flirting and then the next thing you know they'll be fiercely making out in the hallway!" Wally whisper yelled throwing his hands up in the air.

They all turned to Robin and simultaneously came to the same conclusion.

"Rob you go to school with her so you're our inside man. He makes a move you tell us immediately" Wally said completely serious.

Usually Wally was a laid back dude, but when it comes to Dawn he doesn't mess around. His along with the rest of the boys joking demeanor evaporated and everyone was completely serious.

Robin nodded in agreement. Even if they didn't tell him to keep on eye on David he would've done it anyways.

"You got it," he said as they all stood up.

"Boys we've officially begun the worst four years of our lives. High school is always the worst time for an older brother. Dawn's a pretty girl and she's already younger than the rest of her classmates so the guys will think she's an easy catch. Plus the outfits they wear to school aren't helping us out much either" Wally grumbled slamming a hand to his forehead.

They all thought back to Dawn's school uniform and shivered just imagining the reactions of the boys at her school. None of their thoughts were good as they thought about Dawn walking around in a short school skirt and tight blouse surrounded by horny teenage guys all day.

Robin shivered the most since he saw and heard daily what the GA boys thought and said about the girls as they walked by. Lets just say most of the things they say aren't PG rated, or PG-13 for that matter.

"Oh dear God help us," they groaned simultaneously as they walked towards the zeta tubes to catch up with the girls.

Aw poor boys they're in for a wild ride with this one.

I love seeing the team acting like a family, it's so much fun to write and Superboy finally gets the name Conner! Up until now I've had to keep going back and correcting my chapters to say Superboy instead of Conner since he didn't get that name until now.

Like I said before I'll be skipping Terrors and going straight to Homefront for the next chapter. I probably wont post anything next week since I have mid terms, but after that I have Christmas break so I'll have time to post then. Please R&R!
