Kia Su: Part 2

Sometimes I wish they would just yell at each other, maybe that'd be better than the deafening silence.

"Good morning Tori"

Dad's sipping on his coffee, the first cup of coffee, while Mom's waiting to brew some more for herself.

Pawn to E2

I learned early on in life three important things about my parents.

"Morning Dad…

1. When they're home together, they must be fighting.

…Mom"

Queen to F3

I grab a seat up by the counter sitting across from Dad.

"Where's Trina?"

I can hear the triumph in Mom's voice, "I gave her some money to go eat breakfast with some friends"

2. How to identify their moves.

She turns towards me from her position at the stove, looking way too happy.

"Speaking of breakfast what would you like some? I was going to make pancakes but your father is clearly set on having French toast"

Dad pipes up, laying down his own offer. "After breakfast, I'll take you to school"

Bishop to C4

As scary of a thought this is; I wish Trina was here. It's easier when we can just argue instead me picking a side.

I plaster an innocent smile on my face, "French Toast sounds great"

Queen to F7

Mom's smile falter's for a moment, but she quickly saves face. "Oh! Now that I think about it, look at the time, if you don't head out soon, you'll be late, I'll make breakfast next time."

Dad smirks, "Don't worry, we'll pick something up on the way to school, you should go get dressed"

Checkmate

I resist the urge to roll my eyes, because the game's over and I've served my purpose, no need for me to stick around any longer than necessary.

That's the way it works.

3. They hate to lose.

Its lunchtime and I'm not surprised when Jade asks.

"Do you like chess?"

I'm sure she knows, Jade's good at that sort of thing. I'm sure she's figured out those same 3 things in the few times she's visited my house.

"No"

"Shame, I would've been up for a match."

Of course you would

I think that may be why I'm such a bother to her. Chess would be right up Jade's alley, but unfortunately for her, I neither fit on the 8x8 grid as one of her pieces nor as an opponent. I'm the bystander that makes too much noise and breaks her concentration.

But there is a game I am quite fond of.

I send her a wicked smirk, "I may not like chess, but I'm always up for a game of poker."

A/N: Sorry for the delay, but here's part two. Funny thing is I finished this yesterday. However, my internet conveniently went down, which is you know, greeeat, so posting this before I go to school. Anyways, the chess moves I used can be played as a 4-move checkmate at the start of a game, could be wrong because I'm not a chess person, I just looked it up. I kinda wanted to do on Tori's own family issues after doing Jade's. I also got this idea from one of my favorite video games and in order to prevent me ranting about it I'll just say Mass effect 3: Samantha Traynor. If you get the reference you're Awesome. Thanks for reading and sticking around.
