Chapter 16

As the jewels of the sky, chased away the shadows that danced in the night sky, Sakura looked out into the cold night's air, breathing it in as it calmed her by the window. Sakura kept on thinking about Martha Francis, the numbered people, the x shaped scars, the host club, everyone dark thought. The thoughts twisting and turning in her head, as she tried to shake them out, tried to block them from her mind as they invaded.

'This started when we went to the zoo.' Sakura thought to herself. The image of cage being dropped appeared in her mind.

Then the theatre, with Martha Francis and that awful man. The image of the old woman viewed like a picture escaped her mind, showing it to her.

'What happened all those years ago and if we uncover that, what will happen,' The images of her friends appeared and a tear escaped her eye. The coldness of the moonlight played inside her as she felt sick.

It was a sombre feeling as she gripped the railing of the window and looked out.

Seven days till the ball. Sakura thought to herself. She smiled sadly to herself."Why do I get the feeling that this is going to be a disastrous ride."

"Hey," Nami called to her through the bedroom door. "Keeto needs some company while I go to work."

Sakura took one final look outside then closed the window. "Coming," Sakura called back to her, walking out to greet her sister with a happy smile written on her face.

First Day

Sakura walked in to class with a cold feeling in the pit of her stomach. Everyone looked at her with a curious looks but quickly turned back to the strange homeroom teacher.

"Looks like Miss Judai is late again," Mr Rito's voice snapped her out of her thoughts. His eyes looking at her with some concern but masked by his cold glare.

"Sorry I am late Mr Rito," Sakura apologised to him.

Mr Rito raised an eye brow at her then dismissed her with a wave, then went back to reading his book. "Whatever, just get back into your seat."

Sakura nodded then made her way to her desk. She sighed deeply as she took the back pack off and placed it beside her.

"What's up with the sad face?" Kakashi whispered in front of her.

"Yeah, you aren't looking so happy," Takashi whispered in her left ear.

"It isn't like you," Toga whispered in her right ear.

"Is something troubling the little lady today?" Juniper asked as he sat on her desk, writing in a leather book. He was wearing a black cloak with a bright blue top hat.

"I am just thinking," Sakura replied with a smile. "That's all."

"If you are thinking, tell us about what you are thinking about," Rukia said behind her. Sakura turned around to see Rukia behind her. Her hair in two pony tails and her eyes looking at her with a kind look. "I heard what happened with Martha Francis and you."

"Who did your hair this morning?' the triplets asked her with curious looks.

"Mother did, of course," Rukia said patting her hair. "She is one of the top stylists in Japan."

"Did you ask uncle about the x shaped scars?" the triplets asked their cousin with a little bit of hope.

"Well I found out that father asked about Haruhi Fujioka then got rejected," Rukia said to them. "But otherwise no."

A moment passed between them.

"Now, now class. Settle down," they all turned to Mr Rito who had a folder in his hands. The class silenced as their teacher cleared his throat. "In one week's time from now, the host club will be hosting a ball for all the students and parents."

"Will there be a council meeting on the matter?' Asato asked him, standing up and grinding his teeth furiously, clenching his fists into tight balls. "Or are you too lazy for that?"

"President, will you sit down before I put a stick up your ass?" Mr Rito asked him rudely.

"I will not put up with disrespect," Asato raised his voice slightly.

"Get out of my class," Mr Rito said pointing at the door, leaning back on his desk. "I will not put up with disrespect."

Asato looked angrily at Mr Rito and walked out of class. He stopped in the doorway and turned around with a menacing look on his face.

"Just you wait," Asato warned. "I will get you for this, I will get you." Asato walked out into the hallway and down the hall leaving a quiet class.

"Why does Asato get overworked by that guy?" Kakashi said looking at the desk.

"It is a real drag," Takashi said bored.

"A pain more like it," Toga said looking at the front.

"Anyways," Mr Rito said moving on. "On another note, the class fool is out. Getting back to business, the parent teacher interviews are happening soon so please get in the forms before I have to track you down."

"They still do those?' Juniper said intriguingly as the pieces of paper were passed around.

"Looks like it," Sakura said as she read the note then put in her bag.

"Am I late?" an eerie voice said in the doorway. It belonged to a boy with silver mop like hair and lilac purple eyes. He wore the school uniform slightly loose and smiled at his class mates with a creepy looking smile.

"And who are you?" Mr Rito asked the boy as he entered the class room. The class was silenced to nothing but a whisper.

"I am Kenshin Masanori," the boy smiled to his classmates. Sakura felt a cold chill run down her spine as she looked into the boy's eyes.

"Well you are late," Mr Rito said roughly as the bell rang. "Don't do it again."

Kenshin chuckled and ran his hand through his hair. Sakura noticed something that made her heart drop and gulp to keep calm.

"You guys," Sakura slapped gently Toga's leg.

"Ouch," Toga complained. "What was that for?"

"Look," Sakura pointed with her finger under the desk at Kenhin's wrist.

"Oh no," Kakashi said with his eyes bulged.

"It can't be," Takashi said with his mouth wide opened.

"The scar!" Toga exclaimed in a quiet voice.

There it was, the x shaped scar, on Kenshin's right wrist and a sneaking smile was spread across his face. Their eyes zoned in on it as he looked back at them with the same look.

Kenshin walked out with the rest of the students, while the host club first years walked out behind the rest.

"This adds another piece to the puzzle," Juniper said as he watched Kenshin from afar.

"What connection does he have?" Kakashi said with a snarl.

"Why is he here?' Takashi said with a growl.

"This is going to put a spanner in the works," Toga said looking at him.

"If you guys are going to follow me then stop now," Kenshin's voice rang out as only they stood still, everyone else walked past like they were nothing. "Please don't bother me, I am just a kid trying to fit in, no need for you to stop me." Kenshin walked away from sight and everything started to be in motion again.

"Where is he?" Toga yelled, not in time with his brothers like his usual pace, startling Sakura. "Where did that guy go?" Toga chased after him, pushing through the crowd of people. "I'll meet you in the club room later," Toga called to them as he raced past the corner.

"Hey wait up," Kakashi ran after his younger brother.

"You so cheated," Takashi raced after the both of them.

"This is so unfair," they both yelled together as they chased after Toga, who disappeared from sight.

Sakura and Juniper stood there for a moment then started to walk off to class.

"This is going to get very interesting," Juniper said as he looked around. "Very interesting indeed."
