Chapter 23

"Well, well, well, hello you beautiful women," Kaito smiled as the girls gushed over him. Dressed in casual black leather jacket and skinny jeans, Kaito sat pleased as the girls sat around him in awe. With the sun shining while the birds harmonized…

The Host Club was now in session.

Hitachiin Station

"Well hello."

"Sorry we kept you waiting so long ladies."

"We truly are sorry." The Hitachiin triplets said in their usual style. They smirked together in time as all seemed casual, except for Toga sitting down on a chair, with casts and bandages on his body. It had been over a month since his brush with death, ever since Toga seemed together… but sickly.

"Aww… it is okay," one of the girls said to Toga as Toga and Takashi laughed together in time. The usual conversation and brotherly love occurred, taking its usual course while Kakashi remained in the background.

He watched in silence, observing the laughing hysteria in the group in front of him. Things were not normal, or should have been back to its usual course. They had lost their manager Juniper, masked people had almost killed Toga and he witnessed something he couldn't comprehend.

Kakashi hadn't felt natural since his brush with Mr Rito. He felt out of it, on the verge of a complete collapse but yet… it brought him peace. None of the other members from what he could tell didn't feel the same way as him, it was natural yet unnatural at the same time. He just couldn't put his finger on it.

Judai Station

"Hey, baby. You okay?" One of Sakura's regular customers asked, as Sakura's eyes drifted to Toga's pale state. Her mind had been filled with worry since

"Yes, I am fine," Sakura said. She shifted her attention back to the customer and went about the usual business. The club's activities of romance had resumed as everything had seemed normal, except for the absence of Juniper.

She sighed loudly as the hours ticked by slowly, nothing had been the same since Juniper's death. The average tension had grown while Toga still looked worse for wear, Kenshin was nowhere in sight since that day.

It made her feel uneasy.

Morinozuka/Haninozuka Station

Raiko looked visibly pissed as he stared down Toga and the many girls with his good eye. Kazuya shook his head as they hadn't had a girl all day, the boringness and the death staring had made even Kazuya uneasy for it.

"Lucky bastards," Kazuya mumbled quietly as he thought of his sister. None of the girls had shown up since Sakura made her way to the stage, Kazuya didn't really care, he wasn't playing that sort of field.

"You say something?" Raiko said to Kazuya as Kazuya crossed his arms.

"I know we have to keep up appearances but I'm tired of this club. Ever since Sakura came, only bad luck has followed."

"Shut it Kazuya!"

"It's the truth alright, lover boy," Kazuya's tone was like a blizzard. Cold and harsh, uncaring but that was Kazuya's personality in general. He kept up appearances well. "She is going for Toga, so get over her already."

"What is wrong you two?" The two teenagers turned around to find Kaito there. Obviously worried for the both of them as Kazuya shook his head in disgust, Kaito just stood wide eyed.

'Of course he doesn't know about Kazuya,' Raiko thought as he shook his head to his boss. 'No one knows.'

Ichigo Station

"He could be a trouble," Ichigo mumbled to himself as he shut his lap top screen and stared out of the window. The sun shone through like a veil, wrapping him up in a gorgeous glare. "That ball is almost so soon, this is going to cause some chaos."

"Ichigo, what is wrong with us?" Ichigo looked up soundly to find his old friend staring at him sadly. "This club has been nothing but a disaster."

"And?"

"How could you say that?" Kaito said with hurt, "Our fathers gave us this club to protect and we have destroyed it."

"As much as I love hearing you go on about past issues," Ichigo said sarcastically, "But we have a ball to run and limited time my friend, so if you would please quieten down." Ichigo raised an eyebrow as the blonde refused to budge. "Your patriotism is sickening."

"So?"

"So… I don't have time to listen to you."

"Fine then, everyone can be a buzz kill. I'm going out," Kaito practically shouted as he grabbed his coat and stormed out of the room. All the girls looked shocked as the rest of the Host Club remained in their seats.

"People," Ichigo said, getting their attention, "We have a ball to run."

"Haruka, the kids are running a ball," Shino said as Haruka lay on a dark blue leather couch. It was cold in the warehouse they had made up camp to, crates lay all over the place as Shino, Haruka and Diana lay on the couch, watching an old television. Computer monitor screens lined the place as it looked like it had just came out of a spy movie. Various other strangers lay about the place as Haruka looked carefully as the screen.

Diana rubbed her arms, fighting off the goosebumps as Haruka remained silent.

"Look," Haruka began, "The job was to infiltrate and destroy the club, the whole Number thing is getting out of hand."

"You don't say…" A dark haired woman said, coming out of the shadows. "We had to kill a mentally insane woman under the theatre to get that club's attention. To use my ability to freeze time to convince them some evil doers want them out."

"It worked didn't it?" Haruka played with the mask in his hands. "Though, Kenshin is going to be some trouble."

"We have to catch him," Shino said playing with a knife in his hands. It glinted in the pale light as everyone remained silent.

"The annual Ouran Highschool ball will be the final stage, just you wait…"
