Chapter 24
"This room would be stunning for the event!" Kaito exclaimed loudly as the Host Club looked around the empty ball room of Ouran Academy. Sakura admitted, it was massive with high ceilings and low feeling tiles. It looked like it had just came out of a sappy Disney movie. "Perfect."
"I guess so boss." Kakashi mumbled, admiring the dark mauve draping blinds around the hall. Mumbling together something incoherent, Takashi and Toga agreed. Sakura smiled slightly happily at the sight, the triplets were slowly getting back to normal.
The ball was only a few days away now, the tension though were getting stronger and stronger to the moment they were going to have to face those Numbered men. The very thought made Sakura sick.
A tap on her shoulder made her turn around, Raiko was behind her, a rosy blush on his cheeks, a shy version of Raiko she had never seen before. "Hey Sakura."
"Hey Raiko" Sakura smiled at him, "What's wrong?"
Raiko looked away, turning massively red, "I was wondering if maybe… I don't know."
Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around Sakura. "Hey Sakura," Toga chimed, making her laugh and turn around and embrace the triplet. "Oh sorry Raiko, was I interrupting something?" Sakura turned around, raising an eyebrow as Raiko began to fume.
"No," Raiko spat, "You weren't." Raiko ran off as fast as his legs could take him, leaving Sakura confused.
"I wonder what's wrong with him," Toga questioned as the two teenagers turned their directions back on each other. Letting go of her, Toga brushed himself down and smiled, "Anyways Sakura. How would you like to go out on a date with me?"
Sakura's eyes widened at the realization of it, "Without your brothers or the club or anything strange?'
"I said go out on a date, not another club meeting," Toga joked. "Being hospitalized and all that made me realize, life is short and I can't let the girl of my dreams just slip by… So would you?"
Sakura smiled brightly, "Sure."
"I'll pick you up from your house at 7, alright? Formal clothes, I want to take you out somewhere nice."
"Sure," And with that, Toga winked going back to Kakashi and Takashi. Sakura felt giddy with excitement, this was actually going to happen.
"How the hell did you get a date with Sakura!" Kakashi yelled in shock, as he watched his triplet smooth his hair back. It was 6 o'clock, the date an hour away. Going through their wardrobe, Toga kept throwing out random pieces of clothing, trying to prepare the right one.
"That's an achievement, even for you," Takashi laughed, earning a shoe thrown in his face by Kakashi.
"Well, I congratulate you," Kakashi smiled. "It's good at least one of us three finally gets a date."
Toga beamed brightly from ear to ear, "I feel truly happy you guys. It's been a rough couple of months, and finally. I just feel so happy… I am going on a date with a girl I like."
Kakashi and Takashi stood up, wrapping their arms around their brother. "We are so happy for you Toga," They chorused, the three of them fell into laughter.
"My little sister, gets a date with Toga Hitachiin," Nami murmured smiling as she brushed Sakura's long hair. They sat in the small lounge room on an old orange woven rug. Sakura had Keeto playing on her lap as Nami smiled gently. "Do you know how many girls would kill for this?"
Sakura giggled slightly. "I guess, him and his brothers were really annoying though to begin with."
"What changed?"
"At the zoo, something went a bit wacko and he practically saved me…"
"What happened to that Raiko guy? The pipsqueak."
"He's just a friend…"
"Alright," The two sisters fell into a comfortable silence.
"Do you miss him?"
"Every day Sakura," Sakura's eyes trailed to a picture hanging on the wall. Nami, her age with a beaming smile, Juniper slightly older, beaming his old usual smile, holding Nami close and a hand on her stomach. "I'll meet someone new though. Can't believe they let him into your school though, are your teachers' nuts?" Nami laughed, braiding carefully.
"Probably," Sakura sighed, her lungs hurt from laughing. Nami finished, allowing Sakura to put Keeto down. Sakura stood up, blushing slightly, "Do I look okay?"
"No… You look stunning," Nami smiled, embracing her sister. "Mum and Dad would be so proud."
"Thanks Nami," The doorbell echoed throughout the house. "There he is… Go get him Sakura."
Sakura squealed slightly, she brushed herself off one more time. She was wearing a shortish pale blue dress with a v line. Nami had made her wear makeup, as her palms felt clammy. Nerves were killing her, as she opened the door slightly. Her mouth hanged wide open for a moment.
Toga was dressed in a jet black suit with a dark blue tie. His hair was slicked back, his eyes sparkling under the lights. Sakura admitted to herself, he looked hot and amazing.
Toga laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head, "You look incredible."
"Thanks," she blushed. They stood there for a moment, taking in each other and the reality setting in. Kakashi held out a shaky hand.
"Let's go my princess."
"Incredible," Sakura gushed, as she stared out to the brisk dark blue water illuminated by the restaurant's lights. The scenery looked like it had just come out of a painting. The bright pale moon setting the scene as stars seemed to dance around it. The water was calm and gentle, while the salty air filled Sakura's nostrils. Buildings in the distance seemed to make it even more like a painting as she felt so amazed by it. Turning to Toga, she beamed, "Thank you, for taking me here."
Toga laughed, "Well, I felt like this was a perfect place for a date," He looked out to the distance, "After everything, it is nice to just relax and take in everything."
A stocky man walked up to them, "Hello Sir and Madame, what may you two would like first?"
Sakura looked at the menu, unsure by the amount of options.
"For entrée could we please get herb bread? For dinner could I get the chicken stir fry with oyster sauce? And desert, chocolate mousse with vanilla sorbet. Also could I get some orange juice? Sakura, what would you like?"
Sakura closed the menu, "Same as him please."
The waiter smiled to them both, "Would you like any romantic music to get the mood going?"
Sakura laughed, as Toga shook his head, "No thankyou Sir."
The man smiled, hurrying off as Sakura looked out, taking in the view. "It's so beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as you," Toga remarked, causing Sakura to blush madly.
"You don't have to say that."
"But it's true," Toga took her head, enveloping his fingers around hers, bringing it across the table and kissing her hand tenderly. The waiter returned with the juices as Kakashi let it go. He held up his glass, "To new beginnings."
Sakura chuckled, tapping his glass with her own, "To new beginnings." They drank the glass, and began chatting into the night.
"I screwed up!" Raiko yelled loudly, smashing a wood block against the wall in the small dojo of his home. His knuckled ached, his feet were blistered, his head dizzy but he never felt more disgusted in himself before. "I screwed up!" Raiko raged, falling to his feet. Sobbing loudly, he banged his fists against the concrete. "I'm an idiot, I'm an idiot, I'm an idiot!"
And with that Raiko cried... and cried… and cried…
"That was a fantastic evening," Sakura smiled as she leaned into Toga's chest outside her front door. She guessed by now it was around about midnight, but she didn't care. This was everything she had dreamed for. "Thank you."
"No problem princess," Toga said, wrapping his arms around her. "So here is the big question. Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
Sakura sighed loudly, "I really like you Toga, and I had a fantastic time…. Yes."
Toga laughed and squeezed her tightly, "Then, my sweet Sakura. I will see you tomorrow," Toga pecked a kiss on her forehead and broke away the hug. Sakura opened up her door, waved and closed it behind her.
The moment sunk in.
She fell in love with Toga Hitachiin
