Chapter Twenty Nine

Rebekah felt the sharp pain of the bar and rotten wood behind her, her entire body was sore and aching because of the werewolf poison from the bullets and because of the mental torture that Genevieve had put her through that day, but that was not all. Klaus knew. He knew finally, that Rebekah and Marcel had been the ones to bring Mikael back in 1919 for their own selfish reasons. She knew the whole thing with Mikael would come back to bite her in the ass.

Rebekah felt guilty, she really did, but it was hard apologizing to Klaus when she knew that he would never forgive her. And the fact that he had just thrown her to the ground without pity even though she was already hurt showed that he didn't care what happened to Rebekah. Well, Rebekah wasn't going to take it lying down. She grabbed the metal bar and whacked him a couple of times across the face. Klaus took the bar from her and threw it to the floor while at the same time pushing Rebekah to the ground.

Marcel attempted to throw him off guard, but Klaus was too quick, he threw Marcel on the floor. "Just the man I wanted to see."

Marcel groaned.

"Rebekah's punishment won't be complete until she watches you die." He said with a hint of regret.

"Nik, don't punish him! Punish me! It was my idea as well!"

Klaus walked towards her and place the blade over her chest. "Such loyalty you show to the men you love, if only you showed me even that hint of loyalty."

Elijah appeared behind him and stabbed Klaus with Papa Tune's blade. Klaus let out a scream of pain as he stared at Elijah with hurt eyes.

Stefan appeared next to Rebekah and grabbed her in his arms. "Stefan-"she choked out.

"I'm here." Stefan said. "You're going to be ok."

"Take my sister far away as possible, Stefan." Elijah ordered. "And take Marcel with you."

Stefan hesitated.

"Stefan, now!"

Stefan reluctantly help Marcel to his feet. "Get up."

Elijah closed his eyes in relief as he watch the three of them leave the sanitarium.

"Genevieve," Celeste's voice rang over the phone. "Did everything go as plan? What is the update?"

Genevieve traced her fingers over a dirty table. "Everything went perfectly, Klaus knows about Rebekah's little secret," she said. "The oldest brother, Elijah and the rest of the backup team broke the fight. From what I know Katherine is home alone."

"Good, I'll send her in."

"Celeste." Genevieve interrupted. "Do you trust her? Milena? Travelers aren't exactly trustworthy."

"That is my business," she said coolly. "Just get out of there."

Katherine was walking barefoot through the kitchen. She opened the fridge looking for something to eat. One of the good things about being pregnant was that she didn't have to watch her figure.

She picked up a cup of strawberry yogurt and was just about to take a spoonful when Belle started growling and curling into a little ball. "What's wrong?"

A flash of golden hair.

Katherine dropped the yogurt on the floor. In front of her was a woman with long, blond hair and pasty skin. Her lips curled into a smile. "Hello, Katerina."

Katherine clutched a knife for protection, doubting that it would do much help. "Who are you? You're the one that has been following me around? Haven't you?"

The girl tapped her chin. "So many questions." She started chanting and Katherine felt a sharp pain in her head as everything started turning black. "Sleep now. You're going to need it."

Elijah placed Klaus on his bed, not caring that his younger brother was staring at him with looks that could kill. "The knife," he grunted as he tightened his grip around Elijah's sleeve. "Take it out."

"In a moment, Niklaus." Elijah said coolly. He didn't mention that the two vampire guards that he had installed in front of the entrance to prevent Katherine from getting out had been murdered.

He doubted that Katherine could take two vampires alone in her state, and that's what worried Elijah. He searched the entire house calling her name as quietly as possible so that Klaus couldn't overhear, but the outcome was the same. Katherine was not in the house.

And that only seemed to worry Elijah even more. Not only did he have to prevent Klaus from killing Rebekah, he now had to find Katherine. And he guessed that Katherine hadn't left willingly.

He pulled out his cell phone.

"Cami?"

"Elijah, hi," Cami sounded frazzled and Elijah briefly remembered Klaus saying that Father Kiera had been hex by Bastianna.

"I am so sorry to be asking you this, but can you come to the compound?"

"What is it, Elijah?" Cami said nervously she darted into the compound. "My uncle's hex gets worse by the day and I don't have time to play games."

Elijah's face darkened. "My brother has a tortured device inside his chest and the mother of his twins has just gone missing without a word of warning and they both have more enemies than they know what to do with, so believe me I don't have time to play games either."

Cami nodded as she bit her lip. "What do you need me to do?"

Elijah's features relaxed softly. "I'm going to remove the knife from Klaus, I want you to keep him comfortable while feeding him small doses of vervain blood from your wrists. Try to keep his mind off my sister if you can. But above all do not mention that Katerina has gone missing. I will try to find her and hopefully I will succeed before he noticed that she's gone."

Klaus' entire body shook as he grabbed the edge of the bed, struggling to move let alone stand up. Cami helped him up. "Whoa, calm down you're not strong enough. You need to lie down."

"No what I need to do is kill my sister," Klaus replied furiously. "As well as her boyfriends that will do anything to keep her from harm."

"But look at you Klaus, you can barely walk." Cami protested. "Elijah has enough on his plate-"

"Don't you dare defend, Elijah," he snarled. "Not especially after what he did, where is he?"

"I don't know." Cami replied slowly. "All I know is that you need to rest and relax, Elijah will take care of Kathe-"her voice trailed off.

"You were about to say Katherine," he looked at her strangely. "Why does Elijah need to take care of Katerina?"

Cami bit her lip, crap, crap she knew that she was a bad liar, but she didn't think she was this bad.

"Cami, answer me!" he said through gritted teeth. "That girl as much trouble as she has caused is still carrying my children. Tell. Me. What. Happened?"

"Elijah thinks Katherine was kidnapped," Cami said quietly as she watched Klaus' features slowly twist into concern. "He's out looking for her."

"Get me a blood bag from the kitchen," he ordered as he forced himself to stand up. "And tell Elijah to come here."

"What took you so long?" Elijah demanded towards Celeste.

"If you are here to talk about your siblings," Celeste started already sounding bored. "Let me just point out that I wasn't the backstabbing bitch that sent daddy out to get you."

"Rebekah's treachery is not of your importance," Elijah snapped. "Katerina, is gone she's not in the compound and I'm sure that she didn't follow us to the sanitation, so I will only ask once Celeste, where is she?"

Celeste didn't respond.

"You told me that you wouldn't hurt, Katerina. Which means someone else would." He gripped Celeste by the shoulders. "Who took Katerina, Celeste?"

Celeste cocked her head to the side. "Let's just say that she's having a little family reunion."
