Chapter Thirty

Rebekah finished the remainder of the blood bag, feeling better than she had in hours. Stefan had quickly drove them to the nearest hotel so that she and Marcel could rest and now they were back on the road. She dropped the empty blood bag on the floor.

"How do you feel?" Stefan asked as he crossed his arms over his chest.

Rebekah threw him a relief smile. "Much better." She frowned. "Klaus knows."

Stefan raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, I got that by the way that he was trying to murder you and Marcel, we got lucky that we got there in time. We better get back on the road."

Rebekah looked sadly through the window of the hotel room. "I spend my whole life running from Mikael, only to continue running from my own brother."

"Katherine did for five hundred years, maybe he will calm down by then." Stefan said jokingly.

"I doubt it," Marcel grabbed his bag tightly. "I have a better idea, we go back and get Davina and have her do a cloaking spell on us, and it's the only way that we will be able to live freely without looking over our shoulders for the next century."

"Davina is dead." Stefan said flatly as if Marcel was the stupidest person on the planet.

"Not if we kill the right witch," Marcel shot right back. "Think about it Monique Deveraux was brought back to life when Papa Tunde was killed, if we kill the right witch then we will bring her back to life."

"It's a suicide mission." Rebekah breathed.

"It's our only hope-our only chance, Rebekah don't you see. Or do you want to spend your entire life running. Because we both know your brother, he won't stop until we are both dead."

"Rebekah, is right." Stefan told Marcel tightly as he faced him. "We can't go back, not even for Davina. Klaus will show no mercy and he will rip out all of our hearts before we can even blink, what we need to do is move forward."

"Do you really think you can protect her, ripper," Marcel sneered. "You might be Klaus' bestie from the twenties, but I know the kind of psychopath that he is. The minute you sided with Rebekah, you were his enemy and my guess is that your heart will end up right next to us."

Stefan gripped Marcel by his shirt, but Rebekah pulled him away. "Stop it, both of you! We are not going to resolve anything by fighting." She said gently. "Marcel is right, Stefan. We aren't running like Katherine did. Klaus now has more witches on his side and he's my brother a witch can easily track us down with a locator spell. Stefan, please."

Stefan didn't respond.

"I'll get the car," Marcel announced as he exited the hotel room.

Once Rebekah and Stefan were alone, Rebekah glanced back at him. "What are you doing here, Stefan? You need to leave, for your own good, I don't want to drag you down with my own messes."

Stefan sighed. "I am not going to leave you, Rebekah."

"But why stay, so that you can be on the run?"

Stefan squeezed Rebekah's hand. "You were the only one that told me the truth, Rebekah of how I should stop feeling sorry for myself and forget Elena and try to move forward. You were there for me while, I needed you and now I'm going to be there for you. Beside I have a brother too," he smiled. "And I know rage can't last forever, no matter how much we want too. When all of this is over and Katherine has her babies we'll leave and travel the world together."

Rebekah looked at him shyly as she entwined her fingers in his. "Promise?"

"Promise."

"ELIJAH!"

Elijah entered Klaus' bedroom and saw that his brother was struggling to get up with help from Cami. Cami flushed when she saw Elijah. "I'm sorry, it slipped out-"

"It's all right, Cami I'll take it from here." Elijah said and Cami quickly disappeared. "Brother, you should rest don't worry about Katerina-"

"Don't worry, Elijah?" Klaus laughed sarcastically. "Oh, really have you found her?"

"Well, no not yet-"

Klaus growled. "The mother of my twin daughters who is still carrying them by the way has just been taken away, I pretty sure that is a valuable reason to worry."

"You are right, Niklaus but you are still very weak and sick-"

"And whose fault is that?" Klaus snapped, his voice hardening. "I'm not just worried for Katerina's safety, but I'm also worried about the safety of my children, so unless you want to end up with a dagger in your heart I suggest you hand me my shirt."

Katherine woke up slowly, coughing a little as the dirt and dust entered her lungs. She sat up slowly with trembling arms as she rested a hand on her rather large belly. She closed her eyes and blinked a few times, her vision was a little fuzzy.

"You finally woke up."

She raised her head and saw a tall, slim girl with golden blond hair sitting on top of boxes. "I was worried that you were dead."

"Who the hell are you?" she hissed, putting a protective hand over her belly as if shielding the twins.

"Alice." She said coolly. "At least in this body."

"Honey, if you're going to tell me that you're a doppelganger I'm sorry to say that that role is already taken by me."

"No, not doppelganger," she looked at her curiously. "You really haven't change, you still act like you know everything."

"Pretty big talk for somebody who's never meet me." She shot back, hating the fact that she wasn't a vampire, if she still was her fabulous 500 years old self she would have her begging for mercy.

"Alice" cocked her head to the side. "Oh, but I do know you. We've known each other for years."

Katherine still looked confused.

She sighed impatiently. "I'll give you a clue, the word is Travelers."
