At the tempered shore of a crystal lake stood two cats. Flamefeather and Applefall had their tails entwined and hearts joined. They would not be torn apart by clan mates or borders. Or so they had hoped...a she-cat born into darkness who had lost her war of love lay, disgusted by this sight of affection, with a face twisting in pain like the yin and yang. She stifled her rising emotions and dragged he eyes away. She would not let them get away with this. Flamefeather would be brought back to her. They would be punished.

Flamefeather was at peace. He had finally found someone he loved who truly understood him. He thought nothing could bring him down, yet the utterly disappointed and dissaproving face his leader held sent him shuddering back to his body. "Ah, Fernstar," He smiled nonchalantly, "A beautiful day, is it not?" She gave no response. "...Fernstar?" Why was she acting like this? What was wrong?

"I know you've been meeting with Applefall."

Oh. That.

"Hmm, what dou you mean Ferny?" He had used a pet name in hope that she would soften under a friendly blow. She didn't.

"I know she is expecting." She glared, her anger and voice rose simultaneously.

Flamefeather shot a glance at Fernstar's own swollen belly. "I don't understand what you are suggesting!" He laughed.

"You know very well what I am talking about."

"..."

"..."

"Look Ferny let me explain!"

"No I won't hear it."

"But you'll understand if I can ju-"

"I will not hear it. You are hereby exiled from WindClan. Leave the territory at once."

Flamefeather almost collapsed from shock. "What? You can't!" He cried, knowing very well that she could. "My entire life! My kits...and my mate, you..." He smiled meekly at her.

The contortion of her saddened face told him that this was not easy for her. "You have other kits now. And another mate. Leave."

Flamefeather did so. Yet he never made it out of the territory. He was slaughtered by a pair of of foxes, who were left with a mixture of black and ginger fur in their claws. Flamefeather's kits really did grow up fatherless...
