Thanks to everyone who reviewed! and I am so sorry for keeping you waiting for so long! I just started high school again...and this being my Senior year, things are getting a bit crazy! It has been just the first week and we already have a lot of work *sigh* So I can only update one fanfiction at a time with many days in between...but here's a new chapter and I really hope you like it!

I own nothing :P

"What do you mean you can't be here?!" Alec demanded down the phone. He was waiting outside the court's room before starting his father's hearing. He had been waiting for Magnus to arrive when he received a call from the designer telling him he wasn't going to be able to make it there.

"It means I'm not able to go!" Magnus said clearly irritated

"You can't just not come!" Alec argued "You promised me you would be here!"

"I know I did, Alexander" Magnus sighed down the phone, sounding really upset "And I am really sorry…I wish I could-"

"Then why aren't you?!" Alec demanded

"Because something came up and I'm being held up!" Magnus explained "I told you about the meeting about opening my own store!"

"But you said it wouldn't be until tomorrow" Alec continued to argue

"They moved it to today. There wasn't anything I could do" Magnus's voice begged for Alec to understand

"But…it's my father's hearing" Alec said softly down the phone, sounding defeated

"I know! And I'm so sorry, love" Magnus sighed deeply

"I just…" Alec's voice broke then, making Magnus's heart break as well "I can't do this on my own"

"You are not alone Alexander. You have your whole family there with you!" Magnus tried to reassure him

"I've always had my family with me and I was still kicked out of my house and fell into depression 'cause me to almost lose my life" Alec snapped but soon realized how selfish and pitying he sounded so he sighed regrettably "I just don't know if I can face him like this"

"I wish there was something I could do" Magnus said sadly

"You could be here" Alec mumbled not intending on Magnus to hear it but the designer did anyways "I should be going…it's about to start"

"I promise I'll be there as soon as the meeting is over" Magnus replied desperately wanting to do something to make his boyfriend stop sounding so upset

"Yeah…whatever" Alec mumbled taking the phone away from his ear

"I love you" Magnus said softly into the phone but then he noticed Alec had already hung up on him.

The designer groaned frustrated at the turn of events. He had been dreading the moment when he would call Alec to tell him he couldn't be at his father's hearing. He had been informed of the meeting that morning and he had decided to wait a bit longer to tell Alec. Now he regretted it, though.

Yes, it was a meeting to talk about his future. They were going to discuss the possibility about opening Magnus's own clothing store. After this meeting Magnus should make a decision about whether he wants to open it or not. But now he didn't even want to go to the meeting. Magnus would gladly put everything work-related to one side if it meant spending a couple of minutes with Alec. He loved the photographer so much his future didn't matter as long as they were together. But this was something Magnus's couldn't cancel. If he didn't go to the meeting the chances of having his own store would be gone. And lately he had been considering. He was almost sure about what he wanted to do. He couldn't let this chance slip through his fingers.

So that's why Magnus found himself discussing over the possibility of opening his own clothing store with a men and a woman over some coffee.

"We really think this could be a success…" The woman spoke as Magnus glanced at the clock for the millionth time since his phone call with Alec. The hearing was already half an hour in. Magnus didn't know how long those kinds of things took, but he guessed it was longer than that. He hadn't received any news about how it all was going. He was hoping Alec would text him or would call him as soon as it was over, but he had sounded pretty upset when he hung up on Magnus. Alec could be mad at him and would probably not call him at all.

"…Seeing as the magazine has already reached the top of the tabloids, we could use that as an advantage" the woman finished.

"Would I still be able to work on the magazine?" Magnus asked trying to focus on the conversation that was going on around him. "I can't let go of the magazine…selling it will never be an option"

"Yes, there is no need for you to sell the magazine" the man spoke "You will probably need a few months to settle down in the store, though"

"Just the basic stuff" The woman cut in "Get to know the employees that will be working for you, see in who you can trust to leave in charge of the store when you're not present"

"You'll have to focus on making clothes though" the man said "You'll need to fill the store with basic clothes for everyone to buy and also work on different collections every two months"

"That seems like a lot of work" Magnus sighed looking at his watch once more

"It is a lot of work" the woman nodded "But we know you can do it…People would kill to own your clothes and being able to buy them so close will be great! Soon enough you'll see people in the streets wearing your own designs"

"But the choice is all yours, Mr. Bane" the man spoke "Why don't you think about it? We'll be calling you this weekend and come to an agreement, is that alright with you?"

"Yeah, that's fine" Magnus nodded thankful the meeting was coming to an end "Thank you for everything"

Both of them just nodded and then bid him goodbye before leaving the coffee shop where they had reunited. Magnus soon stood up and took his coat from where he had placed it behind his chair. He threw away the cup of coffee he had been drinking and made his way towards Alec's father's hearing was taking place.

His heart leaped out of his chest when he arrived and noticed everyone was making their way out of the court room. He hurried to approach them, looking around and trying to find the blue eyes that belonged to his boyfriend.

"Magnus!" Isabelle cried when he spotted him "Where the hell where you?!"

"I'm sorry! I had a meeting" Magnus apologized still looking around "Is it over?"

"Yeah" Izzy sighed as Simon wrapped his arms her shoulders and rubbing her arms

"You don't sound happy" Magnus noted finally turning to look at the girl "Please tell me you're just tired and it all went well"

"Well I am tired" Izzy said crossing her arms against her chest "But it all went differently to what we wanted"

"They set him free?" Magnus eyes grew wide at the possibility that Alec's father could now be free after all he had done

"Not free per say" Izzy tried to explain "His sentence in jail was cut short. He'll only be there for six months instead of the whole year he was supposed to be"

"What? Why?"

Before anyone could answer him, Magnus was pushed against a wall, an arm pressing against his neck making him choke in his breath.

"Where were you 40 minutes ago Bane?!" Jace snarled as he pushed Magnus harder against the wall

"Something came up" Magnus tried to explain "I'm sorry I couldn't be here"

"Well I hope you're happy! Our father was set free and it's all your fault!"

"Jace!" Clary cried trying to pull Jace away from Magnus "It wasn't his fault…just let him go!"

Jace released Magnus and took a step away from him but continued to glare at the designer as he dusted off his clothes and straightened them.

"I'm sorry for how it all turned out" Magnus spoke turning to look at Jace coldly "But it's not my fault the judge decided to release your father six months earlier"

"It actually is" Jace snapped crossing his arms against his chest "He'll be six months in jail for assaulting Alec and me, resulting of Alec going to the hospital…but he could not be accused of domestic abuse"

"But he attacked both of you! And your mother!" Magnus protested

"We're adults and no longer living in the same roof as him…there's some law saying it's not quite the same" Jace shrugged, his glare hardening "And there was no one to testify he hurt my mother, since her bruises were long gone and there's no medical records of them…You were the witness of it, but you weren't here they didn't press charges"

"But Alec saw it too!" Magnus cried "He could have testified about it as well!"

"He did" Jace nodded "But it was his word against my father's…they needed someone outside the family to affirm it happened and it wasn't just Alec wanting to blame Robert"

"Where's Alec now?" Magnus asked looking around and noticing the photographer was nowhere in sight

"He ran out" Izzy said softly "He was already nervous and upset when it all started…when the judge said our father would be released six months earlier than planned, he ran out"

"And you let him?!" Magnus roared not believing they would let Alec leave on his own when he was that upset

"There was nothing we could do" Izzy sighed "He wouldn't listen to us anyways"

Magnus sighed walking away from the group and taking out his phone. He needed to find Alec and make sure he was alright. And also, he needed to find a way of stop feeling so guilty. Because somehow this whole mess seemed as if it was his fault.
