Isabelle had decided to stay at the hospital until both babies were able to leave. She had been offered a room in the hospital, but most of the time she spent it next to the incubator where her babies rested. Simon, unfortunately, had been forced to go back to work. They were still working on the band's tour after the release of their album. Of course, Simon had begged to stay for at least the first two months after the babies were born, but they still needed to get all the publicity and set dates for every concert. So Simon spend some of his time outside of the hospital for work, but as soon as he was able to leave, he came to the hospital to be with his family.
By now, the news that the babies were born had been spread all over the world. Even though Simon wasn't too famous yet, he still managed to make it on the tabloids. Also, the fact that people had seen Magnus and Jace leave the hospital a couple of times. Everyone had been excited to know they were twins. Simon had already received some fan mail, and all of his social network pages were filled with messages from fans. There were still some hate being sent towards Izzy, but they ignored it. Paparazzi had wanted to get inside the hospital to get some pictures of the babies on the first days that they were there. The security at the hospital had been doubled since then as a request from Simon's manager. Thankfully, neither Izzy or the babies had been photographed. Simon had been spotted a few times walking in and out of the hospital, so by now everyone knew the babies were still in there. Many theories were made about the reasons why the babies were being kept in the hospital, but eventually everyone settled with half of the truth – the babies were born premature. No one knew exactly the condition of the twins, which would be kept secret as much as they could. Neither Simon or Izzy wanted the cameras to catch the babies just yet. They didn't need that kind of fame just yet.
So the first morning of the third week, Alec found himself sitting next to Izzy looking at the babies on the incubator. He and Magnus had scheduled all the photo-shoots for the new magazine issue so they could have that day free to visit Izzy and the twins. Magnus, however, had been called on a last-minute reunion and so Alec was the only one who could make it to the hospital.
The babies placed in the same incubator because they were twins and for some reason needed each other close to keep the process of developing much better. So while Izzy and Alec sat together next to the incubator, both babies lay curled together inside of it. They moved every once in a while, getting comfortable, or just stretching their little limbs, but they had yet to open their eyes. The babies had Simon's pale skin color, and for the small hair they had on top of their heads, they seemed to have taken Izzy's black color. They had yet to know if they would have Simon's hazel's eyes or Izzy's dark brown eyes.
"Elliot looks like you" Alec said suddenly, looking at the baby boy who was curled against his sister.
"You think so?" Izzy asked from where she was resting her head against her older brother's shoulder "I'm still trying to figure out who looks like who…I think they both look like Simon"
"No" Alec shook his head "Elliot has your nose and cheekbones…Amelia has your lips. Her smile will be striking"
"Well, of course" Izzy said with a small laugh "She'll be the most beautiful girl her age"
"Just wait until she starts High School and every boy will be trying to get her to date them" Alec chuckled
"Oh God. Simon will kill anyone who gets near her" Isabelle laughed
"Not just Simon" Alec shook his head with a smile "I'm pretty sure Jace, hell even me, will hunt down anyone who decides to date her"
"What about Elliot?" Izzy asked softly, turning her attention towards her son
"He'll be a heart-breaker" Alec said with ease "I fear for whoever falls for him…"
They stayed silent for a couple of moments, just being close together, and watching the babies as they slept peacefully. Izzy liked the idea of a future for her babies, but sometimes she feared they wouldn't get that.
"Do you think they'll get out of here?" Izzy asked quietly
"What do you mean?" Alec asked with a small frown
"Do you think they'll make it out of the hospital?" Izzy whispered, her eyes already filling with tears
"Isabelle, listen to me" Alec said sitting straight and forcing Izzy to look at him in the eyes "They will be fine. The doctors said they have been developing just fine. They'll get out of here soon enough"
"I'm just scared" Izzy said, a tear escaping from her eyes.
"I know. We all are" Alec said gently "But they'll be fine"
Izzy nodded and nuzzled against her brother once more. They sat there for another half an hour. Just looking at the babies and talking quietly. They were only interrupted when Izzy's doctor came into the room for the babie's check up.
"Hello you two" Dr. Meyers said with a kind smile
"Hello Doctor" Alec answered politely "Are you here to check on the babies?"
"That's right" Dr. Meyers nodded "I'll just take a minute"
Izzy and Alec nodded at the same time and stood up to give the doctor some space. They looked carefully as Dr. Meyers and a nurse looked over the babies, checking their pulse and all that kind of stuff. After the check-up was done, Dr. Meyers turned to smile towards the Lightwood siblings.
"It looks like they are both developing just fine" Dr. Meyers said with a smile "We checked Elliot's lungs with the X-rays and it turns out his scars have healed. The scars are still visible, but they are closed and will not likely to open again. Amelia's lungs are fully developed with no damage in them, and they both seem to be as healthy as any other baby. They have gained some height and weight, which is normal for developing children"
"So…that means they'll fine?" Izzy asked hopefully
"They are perfect" Dr. Meyers said with a smile "We will keep them for another three days to keep checking on them, just in case. But they should be able to leave before the end of the week"
"Are you serious?" Izzy asked, covering her mouth with her hands as tears streamed down her cheeks. "I can't believe it…OMG!"
"Thank you so much" Alec thanked Dr. Meyers
"Sure thing" Dr. Meyers answered "Would you like to touch them? We can't take them out of the incubator just yet…but I'm sure it's safe to hold their hands or stroke their heads softly"
"C-Can I?" Izzy asked
"Of course" Dr. Meyers nodded and motioned Izzy to get closer to the incubator.
She taught Izzy how to open the small window of the incubator and reach her hand inside to touch her babies. Dr. Meyers instructed her to be gentle. Soon enough she left because she had to check on other patients, and Izzy and Alec were left alone with the twins.
"I'll call everyone else to tell them the news" Alec told his sister.
Izzy just nodded, not tearing her eyes away from her babies. She stroked Amelia's cheek softly and then moved her hand to stroke Elliot's top of the head. She smiled as Elliot nuzzled against her hand. She extended her other hand towards Amelia, who took her finger in her little hand, not letting go.
More tears streamed down her cheeks, but this time they were happy tears.
"Mamma loves you" She whispered "We'll be home soon"
So what do you think? I have to admit...I'm loving writing about the twins! :$ They're just so cute! :D
Also, I felt the need to write some Alec-Izzy siblings bonding scene! So yeah, that was it...I'll add Jace on the next chapter, because we need the three Lightwood siblings together! :D Also, I felt the need for them to call the baby Elliot and not Max. It would just feel as if they're talking about their brother and that just wouldn't be alright...plus I love the name Elliot, so yeah haha! :D
